@FlipKat I had nipty done vis ultrasound direct. Taken at 3.30pm on a Thursday and results back following Thursday at 11am. I didn’t bother having the nhs combined screen as pointless. Had dating scan two days before results came.

ELW85 · 02/09/2019 16:55

@munchymunchkin - can I ask why the NHS screening is pointless? I’m debating paying for Harmony but had put it off as I thought the NHS one did the same thing?

MunchyMunchkin · 02/09/2019 17:02

@elw85 not pointless overall, just pointless to have it done if you have opted for nipty/harmony already. That is because nipty is more accurate.
The nhs one gives risks for the trisomies but by comparing the thickness of the neck and two of the hormones. Nipty looks directly at fetal chromosomes. Does that make sense?

So I did too good a job of filling my bladder before my scan 🙈 baby was totally squished up and I had to go and half empty and move around a lot to get it out of the corner it was squeezed up into! It still didn't really move but moved enough to have all the measurements taken. Arms and legs all look in order, the Nuchal measurement was 2.6mm - anyone know if that's high/low/Normal?

Due date also brought forward a few days too so I'm 13+4 now, due 5th March 😊

ELW85 · 02/09/2019 18:00

@MunchyMunchkin - got you, thanks!!

threegreensheep · 02/09/2019 18:13

@satsumasaturday NT measurement sounds within normal range but more accurate combined with your bloods so better to wait for the lab results!

threegreensheep · 02/09/2019 18:16

Got my scan on Friday, on countdown now! Hoping this week flies. @oksim my sickness eased off by 13 weeks last time and had gone by 17 weeks, hang in there. I'm still on my meds as 12 weeks but trying to reduce, think I'm gradually getting better. Can't remember what normal feels like though.

satsumasaturday · 02/09/2019 19:22

Forgot to ask earlier - has anyone had nose bleeds at all? I had a quite big nose bleed this morning out of nowhere, and i can't remember ever having one before even when I was a kid. Google says it's because there's so much more blood in your system. I'm hoping it's a one off and I'm very glad i was at home!

maybenextmonth · 03/09/2019 07:44

@satsumasaturday I did exactly the same as you and had to go and half wee - thank god, as I was about to burst. It was awkward then awkward to get the measurements for me as well. I was 13+1 on the day and was told a measurement under 3.5 is good. Mine was 1.9. I'm due 6th March so one day after you.

maybenextmonth · 03/09/2019 08:06

Have many of you ladies bought much maternity wear yet? I've been wearing H&M normal trousers with an elastic back at work, for a bit of stretch, but they are starting to dig in a little now on the belly when I sit down. I wonder whether to move on to maternity yet? My belly seems far to small to fill them. Has anyone bought maternity trousers yet - does the bump bit fit a smaller belly and grow with it or would it just sag a bit now until I can fill it more? Seems a silly question but don't want to buy yet if it's unnecessary.

sep30 · 03/09/2019 08:14

@maybenextmonth I bought some maternity leggings from H&M and a few dresses/long tops they're just perfect for this awkward in between phase. X

Dinosauraddict · 03/09/2019 11:06

Had my NHS scan today! Thought I was 12+6 but been brought forward a day so 13+0. Baby is still a wriggle bottom, but lovely to see! Grin

avocadoincident · 03/09/2019 11:33

Any scan photos to show? My scan is Thursday and can't wait!

On another note is anyone considering cloth nappies or at least cloth wipes. I can thoroughly recommend them and I've done it the cheapest way possible by buying preloved nappies and I made my own wipes by cutting a fleece blanket up with pinking sheers. Happy to help or answer questions.

doggeek · 03/09/2019 14:09

Hi ladies, had our scan today at 13w 4d and baby is looking good and growing well. We got to hear the heartbeat as well! It's so exciting to see the little bean 😁

Bought a maternity top. Just off eBay. It's the only thing iv bought so far. My baggy t shirts are doing nothing for me anymore. I think because it ties under my boobs it's just makes my 'bump' stand out a bit more 😂

I've bought some maternity dresses from Dorothy Perkins and leggings from JoJo Mama Babe

satsumasaturday · 03/09/2019 16:03

Here's mine from yesterday @avocadoincident at what turned out to be 13+4

MunchyMunchkin · 03/09/2019 16:20

Lovely scan photos.
I’ve just had to move into maternity clothes this week as bump has appeared. The over bump stuff seems to be staying up alright - leggings better than jeans.

avocadoincident · 03/09/2019 18:37

I love the scan photos. X

FlipKat · 03/09/2019 21:05

@MunchyMunchkin @ELW85 - I too thought there would be little point doing the NHS 12 week scan and blood tests as I knew I was going to do an NIPT privately but I asked my midwife at the booking appointment and she said I should do both. Apparently our Foetal Medicine Unit recommend this as the NHS screening picks up things other than Downs, Edwards and Pataus. Scan often identifies structural abnormalities, and other stuff on the bloods - said low PAPP-A can tell them about placental insufficiency and risk of preterm labour, still birth, pre eclampsia etc. Obviously though the main thighs they are screening for are the trisomies which the NIPT is superior for!

I also used Ultrasound Direct. Exciting you got your results back so quickly! We are going away on holiday next week so would be lovely if our results were that fast too and we got them before we went :-)

FlipKat · 03/09/2019 21:08

@satsumasaturday @doggeek lovely scan pictures!

MunchyMunchkin · 03/09/2019 21:36

@flipkat they do Papp a regardless of screening - I checked as wanted to ensure that was done.
Realistically they look at the NT when they are scanning but may not directly measure of appears grossly normal on a standard dating scan.
I’ll have saved the nhs a few quid at least!

sep30 · 04/09/2019 10:53

How is everyone feeling now the weathers cooling down a little? I've been suffering from restless legs so much at night! Any tips?! X

MockingJay27 · 04/09/2019 11:03

@sep30 I have been suffering with restless legs and insomnia at night also, my sinuses seem to get blocked when I lie down too. On the plus side sickness and sore boobs seem to be going away as I enter the 12th week

Yvonne1988 · 04/09/2019 11:51

@mockingjay27 my sore boobs went then this week they came back with a vengeance!
