Morning all!

Got my 12 week scan through finally as they hadn’t done my referral properly so weren’t going to scan me. Brilliant.
I’m now in on Friday 13th Sept and trying to not read into it!

@Jesskir89 - the nub theory is basically that at 12 weeks there’s a genital pole (totally not the right phrase, haha!) that’s developed and if it’s flat/horizontal, it’s meant to be a girl. If it’s pointing up/at an angle, it’s meant to be a boy. Apparently it’s about 95% accurate and there are entire forums where people post pics to get an opinion. I’ll be reviewing ours, but I’m far from an expert!

Jesskir89 · 28/08/2019 09:05

@elw85 thank you :) and that's my scan date too! I tried to change it but as I'm consultant led it has to be a Friday and were on holiday the Friday before. I'm sure all will be ok

ELW85 · 28/08/2019 09:13

@Jesskir89 - it’ll be totally fine, I’m just being daft. I’m not superstitious usually, I think it just caught me off guard.
Ours is in the morning; how about yours?

Ginandtonic31 · 28/08/2019 10:26

@ELW85 I'm due Friday 13th March 😂

Jesskir89 · 28/08/2019 10:30

@ELW85 9.50am :)

Jesskir89 · 28/08/2019 10:30

And I should be exactly 13 weeks lol

SLT90 · 28/08/2019 11:32

Lucky for some 😂😂

DaniX91 · 28/08/2019 11:34

It's so exciting isn't it! Our 12 week scan is in the morning, I'm really nervous for this one even though I've had 3 already.

ELW85 · 28/08/2019 11:38

@Ginandtonic31 - haha it’s a good job we aren’t superstitious isn’t it?!

@Jesskir89 - double 13 is 26 so you’re fine 😂

I’ve just had a random voicemail from the midwife saying I’ve got a consultant appointment straight after my 12 week scan. Anyone else had this? I was super low risk at my booking appointment so I’m not sure why?

Jesskir89 · 28/08/2019 13:14

@ELW85 I'm not superstitious but dh is lol and I was told prior I'm consultant led. Ring them back and ask why x

ELW85 · 28/08/2019 13:41

@Jesskir89 - we’ll get through the poorly timed scans 😂
Rang them and they said it’s cos they messed my referral up so the only scan they can book me in to is a consultant clinic xx

Jesskir89 · 28/08/2019 14:41

@elw85 nothing to worry about then and we will :)

MissPepper8 · 28/08/2019 16:53

I finally got my scan for the 10th of Sept and I'll be 13 weeks then.

Anyone else's mw service a bit slow? My mw forgot about my scan. My local Labour ward where I had DS all shut down and initially I was a bit distressed changing hospitals but now not so much.

Dinosauraddict · 28/08/2019 17:43

@MissPepper8 my scan isn't until 12+6 but my MW is v speedy, had me in for booking appointment at 8+0 (which feels a while ago now).

Yvonne1988 · 28/08/2019 17:51

Had a rubbish sleep last night. If I can even call it that. Today I'm feeling fat and tired 😂 I'm so chunky! And it's not even baby. I haven't seen my partner for nearly 2 weeks either which never helps.

What I'm gonna look like when he comes home. Having one of those 'he isn't going to be attracted to me anymore' days

Needed a moan. No one to moan to.

MissPepper8 · 28/08/2019 18:00

@Dinosauraddict ah you're so lucky, that's what it was like with my first. This one, I got to 9wks and hadn't been seen so I text my mw and she said they were so under staffed they don't see ladies until 11 weeks but she came to see me that day anyway as she remembered me from DS.

She was ment to contact me the next day for scan time but nothing, 10 days went so I gave her a prod and she booked it then.

She was amazing with DS, booked scan on day, offered to sweep on Saturday, got me antibiotics everything but I just get a feeling it's going to be hard to see her :(

DerbyshireGirly · 28/08/2019 19:04

@Yvonne1988 I'm also plagued with the delightful headaches, currently in the middle of a two-day long one with no respite Sad are you taking paracetemol? I'm a bit wary of taking it repeatedly even though it's meant to be safe.

Yvonne1988 · 28/08/2019 19:21

@derbyshiregirly I have taken 2 tablets on 2 different days but it just feels weird lol I thought i couldn't take anything. That 4head stuff is alright.
I haven't had a headache yesterday and not one yet today but I can feel one coming

Dinosauraddict · 28/08/2019 22:30

@DerbyshireGirly I have also been hesitant about taking paracetamol for headaches. But my DH rightly pointed out that me stressed due to the pain is probably more damaging than any paracetamol for baby..

Yvonne1988 · 29/08/2019 05:16

Argh anyone had thrush in pregnancy? Do I have to go through the drs or is there something I can get at the pharmacy that's ok to take.

Jesskir89 · 29/08/2019 06:56

@Yvonne1988 apparently I did but next time I went it had gone. My midwife said you can go pharmacy but don't tell them you're pregnant but you can't use the applicator to insert the pesory (sorry not sure of spelling) she said you have to use tour finger. Other than that just get the cream

Yvonne1988 · 29/08/2019 07:48

@jesskir89 thanks. I'll get that. Just an effort if I have to try and get in touch with a Dr when I need it now

Yvonne1988 · 29/08/2019 08:39

Was just properly sick for the first time ever this pregnancy. I'm nearly 11 weeks! A smell in the sink got me heaving then emptying a pan was the final straw apparently.

How people put up with that daily I have no idea!

barnyb · 29/08/2019 09:29

@Yvonne1988 I had it when I got first got pregnant and I read that only use the cream don't use the tablet etc. Just the cream x

Yvonne1988 · 29/08/2019 13:02

The nurse said pessary is fine. Just use the cream first though

And iron my knickers apparently! To kill the spores. That is a new one to me lol
