I'm so excited to start this thread. Looks like I'll be due 1st April from my ovulation day (28th July by last period)!

@CEM29 I am 8+1 today and went for a scan at the EPAC. I had a sharp pain last night and then what felt like cramps and intermittent shooting pains today. Scan showed a healthy little bean and heartbeat.

The sonographer said that until she fell pregnant she would frown a little at women who came in with just pains, but after being pregnant herself she understood that the pain was actually quite bad at times and explained to me the following, which I hope is helpful to you and anyone else who freaks like I do at sharp pains.

She said that the uterus is not only stretching at quite an alarming rate to accommodate little bean, but due to the rate it is actually likely to tear in places on its way. Combine that with the hormones that are relaxing the ligaments, muscles etc. that will also affect other areas which in turn will add more pain into the equation as our insides take on new shapes.

Not really had it spelled out to me like that before. And she did say early pregnancy for her was agony with the stretching - and mine today had me doubled over at times - which had never been explained to her before either.

Nikkinoodle84 · 27/08/2019 17:12

@bristolbear shes explained that really well. I had some pains when I first found out, I messaged my cousin, who's training to be a midwife and she said something very similar. Then laughed at me because I'm a nurse and all logic went out the window when I felt that pain. The uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries as a reproductive organ as a whole, are normally only about the same size as the palm of your hand, so theyve got so much growing to do. But we all need that peace of mind sometimes so do what you need to do, go the drs, get the early scan, whatever helps keep you a calm mama is better to keep your little one growing calm.
Iv booked myself an early scan, if had no problems since conceiving really, but it took us so long to catch I want to see that heartbeat, and I want to give my brother his first "uncle" birthday card which falls around week 10.

CEM29 · 27/08/2019 17:28

That is so helpful thank you for taking the time to share that . Scan tomorrow hopefully will be some added reassurance !

HerSymphonyAndSong · 27/08/2019 17:36

I don’t think I realised until the first time round what a whole-body experience pregnancy was

nicoletia · 27/08/2019 19:14

@Sorbfsiabs this is great news xx

I've spoken to my GP who told me he referred me on 08/08. I'm yet to hear from my midwife re booking scan so I phoned them again and they suggested that I speak with my local maternity unit. I did and they told me they would refer me directly as long as I know the date of my last period. What's the point in GP referrals then? I'm really frustrated because I'm on holiday next month and now I'm concerned my scan would not happen until I'm 13 weeks 😩

PurpleViolin · 28/08/2019 10:49

Hello. am 5+5 and was up loads in night with cramps. Anyone else had this and been ok? Automatically mean disaster?

Sunshine8888 · 28/08/2019 10:55

Hi ladies, I got my bfp 2 days ago and my LMP was 18 July so that makes me 6 weeks tomorrow. Due 23 April 2020! I’m extremely anxious about things going wrong - this is my first pregnancy and I don’t have a clue what is going on, what’s normal and what isn’t! I’ve been getting loads of clear / yellow tinged watery discharge - it’s not itchy - just seems a lot of it. Yday there was a small bleed, just a rusty coloured stain in my underwear. No clots (sorry 🤢). No bleeding since. Various cramping going on in back and stomach and twinges in boobs. Does this sound normal for 6 weeks or do you think I need to go to the EPU? The bleed in particular has scared me

eskimod · 28/08/2019 11:10

@PurpleViolin @Sunshine8888
Cramps are normal. I got them lots at the beginning, they've eased now (10 weeks tomorrow) but I do still get them.
Blessing is also normal although I didn't have it. I think you should only be concerned if it's accompanied by terrible pain or if there continues to be a lot of blood. I think a rusty colour seems like older blood so that's a good sign. But I know it's scary so If you're really concerned, go to the EPU.

eskimod · 28/08/2019 11:12

@Sunshine8888 @PurpleViolin
Sorry! I meant bleeding not blessing! 🙈🤦🏼‍♀️

Ruthsoph · 28/08/2019 13:58

Anything i can do about the bloating? honestly my tummy is massive and i am only 6+4
can i just say after finding out 2 weeks ago this is the longst 2 weeks of my life :>)

poopatroop · 28/08/2019 15:20

@ruthsoph nothing to help on the bloating I'm afraid, but absolutely agree on time going SO slowly since I found out! It's killing me keeping it a secret when it's all I can think about. I plan to tell some people (like my parents) at the end of September when I'll be about 10ish weeks. It seems like a very long way away.

PurpleViolin · 28/08/2019 15:22

I look about 7mo preg with thr bloating!

ellarosee · 28/08/2019 16:28

Oh gosh ladies me too! The bloating is the only symptom I have at the moment, 5+5 .. is anyone else not having many symptoms just yet? I've read that nausea usually arrives around 6 weeks and I'm weirdly wishing I get it, just so I feel pregnant!

This 2 weeks has also been the longest 2 weeks of my life. I have my booking appt next Thursday which feels like forever away 😂 I'm hoping to have an early scan around 8 weeks and then we plan on telling parents around 9 weeks, it feels too early for me because I'm so anxious about it all but it falls at a good time around our mums birthdays so it will be a lovely present for them both. When are you planning on telling people/have you already? X

morgan158 · 28/08/2019 16:39

Hi everyone, just discovered this thread and so happy to have people to talk to! I'm 8+5 with my first child and visited the doctors at 5 weeks to tell the news. I was told she would refer me on and a midwife would be in contact, however I've still heard nothing. Is this normal or what is everyone else's experiences? I've been waiting each day for a letter to arrive but still nothing

LokiCat · 28/08/2019 16:39

@ellarosee I feel exactly the same way! I'm 5+6 and my only symptoms are sore boobs - a part of me doesn't feel pregnant at times! Really wishing for some symptoms/nausea to show up (which I know I'll regret later!).
I've got my booking in appointment on Friday. Hopefully that'll make things feel a bit more real!

We're also planning to get an early scan for 8/9 weeks and then will tell a few more people after that. I've already told my parents and manager as they were brilliant when I had a mc previously.

I think the worrying is unfortunately normal. Hopefully all is okay for us all 🤞🏽💕

Nikkinoodle84 · 28/08/2019 16:45

@Sunshine8888 were due date twinnies!! Iv been very crampy, and had alot of milky CM but its all perfectly normal.

Harriettenightingale · 28/08/2019 17:04

I've been exactly the same with googling and falling into the MMC hole.
I keep thinking, just get to 12 weeks and you'll relax, knowing full well I'll be a neurotic mess at 38 weeks

So true! I got my BFP last week at 43 after trying for 2 years for #1. I am 5+1 so EDD would be late April. I can't feel positive or think about the future as I'm so worried about it going wrong and statistically know it's fairly likely at my age, and online miscarriage info is not reassuring. I like many people here don't have many symptoms which also makes me worry. I feel like I'm just going through the motions. One day at a time.

ellarosee · 28/08/2019 17:21

@LokiCat I'm so sorry to hear about your mc. I can't imagine how anxious you must feel but keeping everything crossed for a happy healthy 9 months (well less than that now) ahead for you! We will definitely live to regret wanting the nausea I'm sure, pregnancy seems to do crazy things to you 😂 How exciting that your booking appointment is this week, I'm sure that will make it all feel more real. Please let us know how it goes and what happens. Are you going with anybody?

12 weeks just feels so long away to wait for the first scan doesn't it? It seems like most people opt for an early one. I'm absolutely terrified of getting bad news at the scan but it seems like a common worry, I guess that's a symptom of pregnancy itself, the constant anxiety.

It's good to know there's a few of us not experiencing many symptoms. Congratulations to you @Harriettenightingale It's easier said than done but try not to read too much about mc online, it can be really scary and cause you lots of unnecessary worry.

🤞🏻🤞🏻 for everyone. And I just have to keep reminding myself how lucky we are to have fallen pregnant x

Sunshine8888 · 28/08/2019 17:35

I’m already finding this thread so reassuring, thank you ladies! I’m 5+6 today and the only symptoms I have that are noticeable are sore boobs/stabbing pains! I do also feel very tired today and finding it difficult to focus on anything. We have told our parents and best friend just so we have a support network there x

Harriettenightingale · 28/08/2019 17:39

Thank you ellarosee, and yes, I am grateful that I can actually get pregnant! its weird actively wanting to feel awful all the time, I agree Smile

Nebulae1981 · 28/08/2019 17:43

Hi everyone!
6 weeks 1 day today and cramping like crazy. Period like pain since the day I ovulate. Today it’s super bad. It makes me panic !!!

Yesterday saw a little heartbeat during early scan at EPU so fingers crossed . Hoping the pain is intensified because of internal scan - it was soooo uncomfortable.

Hope you all have wonderful healthy 8 months ahead !!

ellarosee · 28/08/2019 17:47

@Harriettenightingale It's odd isn' it, as soon as we start feeling rubbish we will soon regret it 😂

Oh my gosh @Nebulae1981 is an early scan always an internal one? I hadn't prepared for that!

PrincessConsuela12 · 28/08/2019 17:47

Congratulations to all the new ladies Thanks

I have v few symptoms, so tired but that's about it... I think I've been pushed back a few days as my early scan shows 'something' being 2mm and that's usually the first part of 4 weeks and not 5 week which I thought I was so things are dragging even more here 😩 I too am wishing for more symptoms but I'll be kicking myself if I get sick in a few weeks 😄

Nebulae1981 · 28/08/2019 17:55

@ellarosee yup at this stage definitely
Thought she was gonna poke my eye out !! 🙈
