I'm so excited to start this thread. Looks like I'll be due 1st April from my ovulation day (28th July by last period)!

I'm absolutely over the moon after a MC in May.

@mumof1hants that is a useful link, thank you. Glad I am not alone in worrying. X

Otter88 · 08/08/2019 13:07

@Makingawish - I feel exactly the same! Can't stop thinking about it. I'm googling everything before I eat it. It's a bit ridiculous lol but makes me feel better.

@islandermum - would love to see your pic! How exciting!

@Bookworm83 - thanks for that chart, really interesting and definitely good to know the risk is dropping every day.

As many are saying, I am always checking for blood when going to the toilet as so scared. Trying to chill though as I guess worrying isn't going to help much. Easier said than done though.

tbh I think it's all still sinking in that I'm actually pregnant. Don't think it will feel real until I see a scan or some more noticeable symptoms start!

Still debating on whether to tell parents. Hmmmm.

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 13:27

@Otter88 I figured I want supports from my mum if anything went wrong so I've told her. Depends on the type of relationship you have I guess.

I have two issues though... one is I'm supposed to be drinking at a party Saturday night. I wouldn't mind telling one friend but I don't want the others to know. It'll be sooo obvious when I'm not drinking though! Thinking of saying I can't deal with my hangover & a toddler!

Second issue is that I have a spa day booked next week and can't use the sauna or jacuzzi... I may say I've got a headache/cold and don't want it to get worse? Again it'll be so obvious tho!! I don't know whether it's just better to tell those friends than have them suspect anyway?! X

Otter88 · 08/08/2019 13:39

@mumof1hants oh god, it's going to be difficult to keep it under wraps when you have social stuff planned. I would use the hangover excuse or say that you'll be going out the next day and driving or something?

The sauna/jacuzzi is a bit more tricky. Its whether you think it will be obvious or not. If it's too obvious then I guess just telling them means you don't have to make something up and depends on the relationship you have with those people.

I actually have told my mum. She kinda knew before my husband did. Oops. I didnt think ahead when I did the test and didnt think it would be positive anyway so I did it at 3pm on tuesday and my husband wasn't going to be back from work until 10pm. When it came back positive, I freaked and had to phone someone lol! We might end up telling my mother in law before the scan i think. We are getting our heads around it all at the moment so wanna take some time to enjoy the news and let it sink in before we start getting others reactions. So bloody hard though!

MrsW1990 · 08/08/2019 13:42

Hi everyone, I've just joined. Due date is looking around 5th April. Fingers crossed this will be our second child - I have a 4 year old (going on 15). Symptoms I'm having so far - dizzy, nauseous, taste buds have completely changed and ridiculously tired!! Feeling very nervous and hope the next 6.5 weeks fly by to the first scan!!x

MindyStClaire · 08/08/2019 13:50

mumof1hants for the spa day, could you say you have your period so you'd prefer to just chill with a book in the relaxation room?

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 14:02

@Otter88 thanks for the suggestions. It's friends I haven't seen for a while so they'll be a bit miffed. Will probably think I'm a right party popper now (I always used to be the crazy drunk one!).

@MindyStClaire I really want to go in the pool tho or I won't get to do anything! I want to go still because afternoon tea is included... I've offered to drive though so people aren't suspicious if there's Prosecco on offer!!

Lizim · 08/08/2019 14:37

@mumof1hants I was at a party at the weekend and I managed to get away with not drinking by ordering lime and sodas in a spirit glass and told people it was vodka. The annoying thing was not driving there, knowing full well I was sober enough too Haha x

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 16:47

@Lizim I wondered about taking water in a vodka bottle & doing the same! Only problem is taxi each way is £30... I could say I'd ring a taxi then sneak out to my car!! X

Carysmatic · 08/08/2019 16:52

@mumof1hants for the spa tell your friends you've been diagnosed with low blood pressure and that being in a hot bath or room could make it drop and cause you to faint. It's a legit condition but won't make them think you're pregnant necessarily.

I've got a hen party coming up in a few weeks and really bricking it as it'll be so obvious if I don't drink. Bride will be fuming if it came out I was pregnant as well as she does not like to share the spot light. I'm thinking about enlisting one good friend, who's also the maid of honour to help make it look like I'm drinking when I'm not. Alcohol free Prosecco in my glass at pre drinks and then I'll stick to orange juice or lemonade when out and say it has a spirit in it. It's going to be tough though! I can't use the "I'm on antibiotics" excuse, my friends basically know that's code for "I'm not drinking because I'm pregnant!" Suuucks!

Carysmatic · 08/08/2019 16:53

Oh another excuse I may use, is telling my friends at the hen that I'm trying to keep alcohol consumption down as me and DH are TTC and it's not good when TTC. All my closest friends including the bride know we're TTC so it would be that out of the ordinary.

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 17:03

@Carysmatic the blood pressure thing is amazing thank u!! I will be using g that! I feel so bad lying but it's hard isn't it?!
Enlisting a friend to help with the drink sounds good... and the saying u don't want too much. We can do this!!! X

Warrior9 · 08/08/2019 17:10

Hi really sorry to comment here if inappropriate but I haven’t worked out how to use this site quite yet and didn’t know how to start my own post. Last Thursday 01/08 I had my faint positive test, I continued testing for a few days and began to panic as lines were not getting any darker (using Morrison’s tests each time). I convinced myself I am having a chemical pregnancy. Then I bought some cheap strip tests from eBay and used 2 with my FMU Tuesday morning, negative not the slightest line so I come to terms with it being over. Then this morning (Thursday 1 week from first positive test) I done another cheap eBay test with fmu and although faint there was a obvious positive. Now I am really confused I gave up on the idea but now I think there could be the slightest bit of hope, my period was due 03/08 so 5 days agoSad

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 17:16

@Warrior9 no wonder you're confused. See if you can get a First Response Early Response Test. They are most reliable and can be used 5 days before your period so you should get a definite positive. They're a bit pricier but worth it. If not a clear blue digital it quite reliable (but not as sensitive) x

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 17:16

@Warrior9 good luck and hope to see you back here soon with your BFP x

J43mum · 08/08/2019 17:26

Yes defo get a better test x

MOGMOGMOG85 · 08/08/2019 18:00

@Whatelsecouldibecalled I feel you on the worrying you won't cope if you miscarry. I've had such a long wait and so much heartache that now I am finally pregnant I just don't think I could bear it. Plus it is going to take me a long time to get pregnant again as fibroids make implantation very difficult for me... but we must stay positive, we've come this far and these little embryos obviously want to be here! I'm 4 weeks 6 days today, and thanks to the person who shared that statistical chart as that has made me feel loads better!

omg time is moving SO SLOWLY! I work alone all day in the garden and have nothing to do but think... I usually love my job and put all my energy and planning into it but I just can't focus.. need to find good distractions I think, I'm going to try meditating as I can't be thinking about this 24/7!!!

Still not sure I have symptoms, boobs only the tiniest bit tender, bloated, getting heartburn today which I don't usually get, and metallic taste in mouth, plus mood swings... do feel a bit tired but no worse than a usual period... I can't be sure yet if they are real symptoms or just a normal reaction to such big life news!

xxx

MOGMOGMOG85 · 08/08/2019 18:03

By the way when I went to the Dr Tuesday eve I was expecting a blood test but she just confirmed with a urine test - is this normal? I was hoping the blood test would make sure it's all normal as much as they can tell...

MOGMOGMOG85 · 08/08/2019 18:07

ps @mumof1hants the fish of miscarriage managed to make me laugh even though it's a very sad and worrying topic so thanks for that too lol!

mumof1hants · 08/08/2019 18:12

@MOGMOGMOG85 glad it made u feel reassured. I was worried it might upset some (sorry if it did at all... totally not my intention(. But it's good to know every day there is less and less risk and actually the rate drops pretty quickly.

My doctors never did a test at all! You'll have bloods done at ur first midwife app but I don't think they actually test for pregnancy x

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 08/08/2019 18:19

My doctors don’t want to see me until my clinic have discharged me which I think makes sense.

@Warrior9 how confusing for you. I agree with the others try with a first response early result test. They sell them on amazon prime 2 for £7 which is a better deal than day boots.

@MOGMOGMOG85 yep trying very hard to be positive. Current mantra every day is ‘today I am pregnant’ 🤞

MrsG3 · 08/08/2019 18:30

Anyone had a clearblue digital go from 3+ weeks to 2-3 weeks? Bit worried now!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 08/08/2019 18:39

@MrsG3 might have been a dodgy test? They are notoriously unreliable

MrsG3 · 08/08/2019 18:47

@Whatelsecouldibecalled could well be! Realised the one I did a few days ago I did in the morning so realised it could be more diluted urine? Guess I'll have to wait a few days and test again. First midwife appointment isn't until 4th September so not much to go on until then!

aprilfoolsbaby · 08/08/2019 18:52

Tentative hello from me too. I'm 41 and this will be my third due 14th April - DC are 7 and 11 and this baby is with my DP who hasn't got any of his own so he's super excited. Had a CP in September so not taking anything for granted and am always symptom spotting.
