@Fivebyfive2 happy birthday
@MrsEG triple whammy!

MrsEG · 08/07/2019 12:31

@BabySquid Ah the nausea sounds awful. I find I am so much better earlier on and start to feel ropey in the evenings. Just eat whatever you can!

@purplefig @BabySquid @mrsof20118 DH was with me today so we’re both processing it together! It was given to us as a ‘incredibly rare but not impossible’ and that by Friday it should be much more obvious on the scan, so we’re going to just try not to think about it too much (HA) until we know for sure. I will just be happy if everything is still looking good in there! Me and DH are one hell of a team so we’ll make it work!

BabySquid · 08/07/2019 12:39

@MrsEG it is pretty bad, but I'm just glad that I've still not actually chucked 🤮 I'm not good with being sick, makes me cry!

purplefig · 08/07/2019 13:05

@MrsEG epic attitude as always! You're right - you two will definitely make it work. So excited for Friday for you!!

@BabySquid urghhh nausea is grim. Sorry if this is obvious but are you eating enough? Mine gets so much worse the moment I get hungry.

BabySquid · 08/07/2019 13:07

@purplefig yeah I'm trying to, I've gone to eating smaller and more frequently, with snacks of rich teas and ginger biscuits whenever it's really bad. But today nothing is helping at all!!

purplefig · 08/07/2019 14:29

@BabySquid sorry to hear that, it's a horrid thing to deal with. At least the 2nd trimester is in sight!

So I finally rang the midwife unit today and low and behold they do not have the form from my GP. They're calling me back to sort out a booking appointment and hopefully that'll get the ball rolling with the 12 week scan date. So, so, so glad I went and had a scan yesterday tbh.

BabySquid · 08/07/2019 14:49

@purplefig oh that's great, good job you called them. Useless GP! Did you get a pic from your scan yesterday? How big are you measuring?

AngeloMysterioso · 08/07/2019 15:01

Checking in folks! I'm not on the due date list for some reason- it's 24th October if anyone's interested Grin

purplefig · 08/07/2019 15:11

@BabySquid I did - didn't attach before as pretty blob like! Amazing seeing his/her heartbeat though. Says 18.4mm which she said put me at 8 weeks 3 days, which is pretty much bang on what I thought when you use ovulation and not LMP data. Definitely made it feel more real.

BabySquid · 08/07/2019 15:19

@purplefig mine also still looks pretty blob like on the photos. Amazing that she said 'here you can see the start of limbs, this is the head' I'm like 🤨 really!! It's a kidney bean!! Can't wait for the 12 week when it'll actually look like a bubba!

purplefig · 08/07/2019 15:36

@BabySquid yeah mine was the same!! And I was just like mmhmmm!! Mostly just over the moon to see it's little heart booming away. Isn't it crazy how much change goes on for it to look so much more baby like at the 12 weeks scan?

BostonFern · 08/07/2019 17:45

@Fivebyfive2 sounds like you had a productive and exciting weekend! I love my Kia (a Venga), highly recommend them. Happy Birthday too! 🎉

@Delilah7 doing ok thanks, far less stressed at present, just trying to shift the tonsillitis that started last week. Good excuse to eat lots of ice cream though😂

@BabySquid so pleased your scan went well!

@MrsEG I'm not surprised your exhausted- the first trimester is hard enough with just one baby, let alone twins! Has the news sunk in yet? Oh, I think McDonalds helped me survive weeks 7-9 of my pregnancy, it's beige salty food seemed to tick all the boxes at that point! Just seen your consultant update.....three babies! Wow! I bet Friday can't come quick enough for you to find out!

@MrsC87 I can't believe how you've been treated. I really hope things are progressing for you now x

@purplefig Fantastic news about the scan!

@EltzBee Those are such wonderful scan photos! I'd talked myself out of a 4D scan later on, but now I'm tempted again!

@stormtrooperjulian sounds like you did well at the sale!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and Monday. My niece was born at the end of last week, I'm so excited to meet her but am waiting a bit incase I pass my germs on- I have already bought her a couple of dresses though! I also went through all the baby clothes we've been gifted/have bought so far, a few more bits and we will be sorted for the first six months of clothes (I'd like to get sorted until he's at least 9 months so I don't have to worry about buying lots of clothes whilst on maternity pay). My mum and dad and PILs have bought even more since I went through them though, I think they're all addicted to buying baby clothes 😂 Got my 20 week scan tomorrow and consultant appointment. Movements have got stronger in the last week and you could see one the other day too, which was exciting!

purplefig · 08/07/2019 18:24

@BostonFern oooo 20 week scan - that'll be exciting! Will you find out the sex or keep it a surprise? Great idea about buying everything you need for the first 9 months to cover any losses in maternity pay. I think I'll definitely take your approach with clothes. Do you have any idea how many pieces they need at each stage?

Is anyone on here around the 33 week mark? If so, would you feel up for doing a weekend break that involved a 7hr car journey each way, sleeping on a sofa bed and the main event was a birthday party where everyone else will be drinking? It's a big birthday for DH when I'll be around that mark and we're trying to work out plans, but it's so hard to know when I've no idea how I'll feel.

BostonFern · 08/07/2019 19:07

@purplefig we find out at ten weeks, after a NIPT test, that we are having a little boy 💙
I've not got an 'official' list of how many of each item of clothing, but we've definitely got more at the 0-3 month (23 sleepsuits and counting 😂) and 3-6 month than the Pinterest lists suggest! I'm very grateful for it though- the washing machine is in the garage and with a winter baby anything that reduces how frequently I need to go out there will be a huge help I think!
This is one of the Pinterest suggestions:

Happy birthday @Fivebyfive2

@MrsC87 You poor thing. Thank goodness at least you got a private room but it's shocking how long you've been waiting. Hope you're on your way as we speak.

@MrsEG OMG! As if twins wasn't enough of a shock! What a wait for Friday to find out.

@BabySquid Poor you, I remember those days well! Eat what you fancy in whatever quantity you can manage. Keep hydrated and take time off work if you need to :)

@purplefig A beautiful little blob ☺️ Congrats!

@BostonFern Wow baby must have a strong kick! Hope your scan goes well tomorrow

Had my repeat scan today after baby was uncooperative at 20 weeks. Much better behaved today and even got a decent photo. And it's still a girl Grin

MrsEG · 09/07/2019 06:14

@BostonFern Congrats on your niece! My niece is my favourite person - she’s nearly 14 months now and is already cooler than me!! Hope your scan goes great today.

@purplefig I can’t speak from experience but I don’t think I’d even want to do a 7 hour car journey now haha! Could you do something closer to home or is it quite a specific event? My sister had terrible back pain in her last few weeks and couldn't sit for long (she also needed to pee every hour!)

@TrashKitten10 Lovely scan photo! Glad to hear she was more cooperative this time!

purplefig · 09/07/2019 07:56

@MrsEG yes that's sort of what I'm thinking...and I don't even have to manoeuvre a big bump yet! The distance was to get back to his hometown to see old friends / family. An alternative is to have people over for a party at ours, but again because of the distance it would necessitate people staying over.

@TrashKitten10 gorgeous scan pic - proper little baby girl in there ❤️

@BostonFern oooo thanks for that - very handy for a total noob like me. Ahh I had no idea you could find out that early on - how exciting! I've been reading all the NHS leaflets on screening etc. The NIPT test seems like a great idea - shame it's so expensive.

EltzBee · 09/07/2019 10:45

@purplefig I'm 32+4, and absolutely no chance I could do that trip! An hour in the car and I'm desperate to stop for a wee, and physically and mentally I'm shattered. We have a wedding this weekend that I'm dreading as I know it's going to be a long day. Getting up, rolling over, bending down are all a huge effort and sometimes get DH to help. Back and hip pain...uh just no, honestly please rethink for your future self! Lol. From the ladies in my group due similar time this seems pretty normal at this point! Also make sure someone can get you to hospital if an emergency; babies can and do come early so a super drunk husband and house full of drunk people staying with you probably isn't ideal!

@MrsEG eek! Hope they stay sticky. Our friend due next month had twins show up at an early scan, they'd had a previous MC and scares, but they are due their baby boy next month. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

@TrashKitten10 glad baby behaved this time! Our 20 week scan took nearly 4 hours because she was wouldn't cooperate either! We couldn't go back the next week we were going in holiday lol.

@BostonFern I'm really glad we had the 4D scan, it really has made me feel like that's my baby in there and even more excited to meet her. Seeing the little face and her expressions just feels more "real"?!

We bought most of our things ahead so it spread the impact of the cost. We did our nursery furniture on 0% as figured might as well, might only earn pence in my bank but hey lol. Some stuff takes a while to be delivered too! We have got most our baby clothes 2nd hand which has saved a lot of money.

We have way too many baby clothes but I figure it means I don't have to be doing washing so often!! Don't buy too many small things as newborn is only to to around 7.5lb for example (so might never get used).

Having a rough week, overdid it past few days and I'm so tired and hurt all over! I feel like bump has gotten huge the past couple weeks too!

purplefig · 09/07/2019 11:09

@EltzBee thank you for the reality check. It's so hard to know at this stage as I have no understanding of what it'll be like, but what you've described sounds pretty clearly like it would be a terrible idea. A party at our house would be possibly be OK, we have some family around should I need an emergency lift. But yes...we'll definitely have to discuss! Sorry to hear you're feeling rough this week, it must be hard work carting a big bump around. So not long to go now though (though I'm sure when you're in the midst of it, it still feels like forever)!

thumper59 · 09/07/2019 11:52

Ill be 35 weeks for one of my closest friends weddings this year, I said I may have to nip home for a Nanna nap during the day 😂

EltzBee · 09/07/2019 12:38

@purplefig No worries; I never thought I'd find it so tough and was totally unprepared for how tiring and uncomfortable just being pregnant is! It feels like it's both not long to go, and like it's miles away still, lol.

@thumper59 haha! I'm going to have to wear flip flops to this wedding this weekend which aren't smart at all, but I cannot face the thought of wearing heels or things! Also going to take snacks with me as if I get hungry (and I can go from not hungry to starving in seconds now..) I end up feeling really sick. That and the food aversions and not knowing what food I'll be able to eat there... The glamour!!!

BabySquid · 09/07/2019 12:49

Oh god guys, talking of weddings, I think I'm already getting bumpy... I have a wedding next weekend and already have my dress, I'm bricking it that it's not going to fit and I'll have fly round next Thursday night trying to get a new one! (Wedding is in Scarborough so we're travelling like hour and half to get there!)

purplefig · 09/07/2019 12:54

@EltzBee it sounds like you've had it particularly bad though with sickness! But yes, it seems like it's just generally quite an uncomfortable experience whatever the weather. We did the journey I proposed a couple of weekends ago, and tbh I could already notice a difference - needed to stop to pee about 47 times and slept the whole way back. I'm sure you'll rock the flip flops.

@BabySquid how many weeks are you? I keep thinking I'm getting a bump but think it might just be all the potatoes I'm eating / general carb bloat. Can you try your dress on and see if it fits?

Midwife called back today and I have my booking appointment this Friday. Phew!

LikeTheFruit · 09/07/2019 12:54

@BabySquid I'm feeling your pain! Except mines is boobs rather than tummy!

I've got a wedding next Saturday and the following Friday! First wedding should hopefully be ok, just worried I'm looking VERY booby in the dress I was going to wear. Currently wearing in my wedges with fluffy Xmas socks😂😂

Second wedding I'm a bridesmaid and so worried my dress won't zip over my boobs! I mean if fits! But no room for any growth.

thumper59 · 09/07/2019 12:57

@EltzBee aw it's gotta be comfort first! I've been eyeing up dresses for this wedding on ASOS so I'm hoping I can wear some little heels at least even if they are block sandals but we will see... I am 5'4 at a push and my OH is 6'4-5 so I look like his child from behind when I have flats on 😂😂. We go on holiday 2 weeks on Sunday and I've been looking and the weather is mid 30's there... so that will be fun you'll find me hiding from the sun In the corner 😂

@BabySquid you should hopefully still be fine 🤞🏼. I can still squeeze into some of my normal size 10 stuff if it's stretchy, but I got a 12 in a dress from primark that fitted for a while, it doesn't now, my belly pops the buttons 😂 I pretty much live in maternity dresses or stretchy dresses now! Make the most of the dress now because once bump starts coming on, it comes on quick! I feel like mine went from 0-100 over night!
