@ELW85 thanks m8 😭❤️. Exhaustion and sore boobs - two very common symptoms. Can you take it easy tonight? I feel pretty rubbish so I've got a quiet night in planned with Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth.

ELW85 · 14/08/2019 16:58

@purplefig anytime lovely 💕 tonight is a hot date with the sofa and blanket while DH cooks 😊
Oh no, are you fighting something off? Sorry if I’ve missed it.
Is this another book tip? Your last one (TCOYF) was awesome! X

purplefig · 14/08/2019 17:12

@ELW85 sounds like bliss! No not fighting anything off, just generally feeling a bit exhausted / dizzy etc. I've only just started it, but I've heard really good things about it. It's about women's bodies / natural child birth / mind body connection etc. I'll let you know how I get on, but might be worth a read if you're interested in any of those areas.

daisiesandpeonies · 14/08/2019 17:34

@Crossfitgirl congratulations!!! She's gorgeous and I'm so glad you had a good labour 🎉👶🏼❤️
@MrsEG so happy that the scan went well! Must be really reassuring. Have you told a few more people now?
@cupcakesandglitter sorry that you're feeling poorly it's miserable isn't it? Just eat whatever you can manage. It's been weeks since I've been able to eat a whole meal or eaten anything green, I tried courgette earlier this week and brought it all back up 🤢 Today I've had toast, Haribo, crisps, banana bread and a couple of pieces of fruit. Also don't worry about your age, someone will always have a negative opinion which for some reason they feel the need to share. I'm 32 and have been told I've left it late for my first and I'll never get my figure back 🤷‍♀️ Just smiled and gave them a two word answer (in my head!)
@FlapJackered how are you?? I tried to find the TTC one year + group when I got my bfp as it took us 14 months

Fivebyfive2 · 14/08/2019 17:56

Hi all! So sorry I've been absent, I have been reading everything but not posting because my phone is being a bit weird and I kept losing posts half way through writing them!!

@MrsEG, so happy your 12 weeks scan went well!! Model babies 😀 I love that!! Xx

@Crossfitgirl, she's just perfect 😀So happy for you and glad to hear your labour went well xxx

Going back a bit but all the parents /in law chat really made me smile, it's all soooo relatable 😂 Families eh?!

@bettythecat, glad to hear all was OK with you xxx

I had a funny one this morning, was getting ready and felt a weird pain, more discomfort than anything, but was a bit worried... Until I realised it was trapped wind, much to dhs amusement!! Also had my first pregnancy swimming /yoga thing this week. It was good, met some nice ladies, although they're all further along than me! I'll keep it up though I think.

For those worrying about looking young, I can relate! I'm 31 but wear no makeup and dress like a tomboy outside of work so I think that contributes (being 5 foot nothing does not help!) Try to laugh it off but if people are being funny, give Em the finger and blame hormones 😂

thumper59 · 14/08/2019 18:12

I @MrsEG so glad the scan went well- how exciting! Don't worry about running out of months, it all seems to come together very quickly!

@ELW85 oh I just let it wash over me, myself and my mum had a good laugh when we went out! I wouldn't mind - I lead one of the most boring lives you could 😂 (and love it!) I agree. I'm all for people doing as they wish as long as they are causing no harm to anyone else! It all depends a lot on circumstance as well doesn't it. Our little man is very much planned and wanted, we both have stable full time jobs, a home we own in an area we love, and are each other's best friends even though I could murder him sometimes 😂😂. I've never been interested in going to uni or the like. My fave was when I was a teen people ( who barely know me; those who do know me really laugh at this) about don't I want to go back packing and travel the world. No! My idea of hell! Hahaa

stormtrooperjulian · 14/08/2019 18:22

@thumper59 the nursery looks lovely!

@ELW85 other than very mild nausea when I was hungry I had none, and no sickness at all.

@Cookie0508 @Crossfitgirl congratulations both, the babies are gorgeous!

@TrashKitten10 strange that your midwife doesn't listen to the heartbeat - I've heard the heartbeat at every appointment since 16 weeks, it's my favourite part of seeing the midwife
I've bought a random selection of nappies to try - baba and boo, littlelovebum, little lamb pockets, wizard uno, totsbots easyfit stars, newborn peenut wrap with inserts, sandys, bamboozles and bumhuggers. About half of those will fit newborn and the rest will probably have to wait a while for baby to grow into them. I thought it was better to buy a random selection then work out what works best for us, most of that lot I've bought second hand.

@cupcakesandglitter I found that plain digestive biscuits were good for snacking on, and ready salted crisps

@purplefig sorry to hear you're not feeling great today, hope you feel better tomorrow! How far along are you now? Sorry I can't remember! But anaemia is something to consider if you don't feel better soon, I feel awful at the moment, midwife thinks it's anaemia and just waiting for blood test results to come back. I took the day off work today, have done nothing but lie on the sofa and nap and I'm still exhausted.

@MrsEG glad your scan went well, must feel good being past the 12 week mark

Cookie0508 · 14/08/2019 18:39

Thanks everyone! Smile

@Crossfitgirl glad to see us both out the other side, congratulations and glad it all went smoothly! xx

MrsEG · 14/08/2019 19:14

@ELW85 It was emotional and just really lovely seeing them, they’d grown so much and were moving about loads!! It was crazy. Just absolutely fascinating what’s going on in my uterus!

@purplefig I feel so much more relaxed now; we’ve told our friends and my parents we’re off immediately - my Mums phone was engaged for 2 hours and when I finally got through she was like ‘so, everyone knows’ haha. I’m letting her have it - let her enjoy this bit too!
My UTI was diagnosed from my routine urine sample - I felt fine and can honestly only say at that point that when I pee’d it was quite a slow flow, but no pain or irritation. But it’s like a switch flipped when I was diagnosed I then had 3 days of a fever! But it’s all cleared up now and today she confirmed no signs of infection anymore :)
I think you just have to ignore any comments about your age or looking young - I get them sometimes about ‘leaving it very late’ and that pisses me off but I just shrug it off. People and their bloody opinions, eh?!

@daisiesandpeonies yeah we’ve told our friends today, it’s been fab telling them! No one could believe it was twins! How are you feeling?

@FlapJackered How are you lovely?

@Fivebyfive2 I start a pregnancy Pilates course next week, really looking forward to it! I reckon I’ll be the earliest along too but I wanna get started soon so why not!

@thumper59 Thanks, think I needed to hear that haha! Really need to get my organised head on now!

@stormtrooperjulian Thanks yes, feels so so good to have the 12 week scan done! Loving the list of nappies - think the little lamb ones are the ones we’ve been recommended!!

My mum really made me laugh just now, she said ‘I think you’re having one of each’ and I was like ‘what makes you say that?’ And she goes ‘Well, there’s this thing called the nub theory...’ haha! I was like how do you know about that?! Maybe she’s stalking these boards hahaha!

purplefig · 14/08/2019 20:03

@MrsEG so pleased you're feeling more relaxed now, I loved the stage of getting to tell everyone. It's such a happy time. Also absolutely hilarious your mums cracked out the nub theory on your scan pic 🤣 love it. She's definitely a closet mumsnet user!! I tried to have a go on mine and thought it was 'obviously' a girl but everyone else said boy, so who knows! Thanks for flagging UTI, I'll keep an eye on it. Exciting to start your Pilates class too - I started my yoga one bang on 12 weeks and was by far the earliest. It's so cool getting to see bumps of various stages / sizes.

@stormtrooperjulian that's ok, it would be impossible to remember how far along everyone on this thread is! I'm 14+2 and nothing came back to indicate anaemia at my booking/scan bloods, but I suppose it could've happened since. So sorry to hear you're having such a rough one, but it's good you're able to listen to your body and chill. Hope your midwife gets back to you soon and you can get sorted.

@thumper59 good for you letting it wash over you, best way to be. Your life doesn't sound boring at all, you sound really content and happy and like you know what you want.

@Fivebyfive2 yeah I didn't mention that I'm also barely over five foot which definitely doesn't help! Ah well, what can you do?! There are definitely worse problems we could have!! Is your pregnancy swimming a specific class? How're you finding it?

@daisiesandpeonies I can't believe someone said that about your age - how incredibly rude!!

Have a lovely night all. I've just had a really tasty dinner of goats cheese fritters, cavolo nero and butterbeans. Feels so nice to want something other than potatoes! Now I plan to slob on the sofa all night long reading my childbirth book. So rock n roll, I know.

MrsEG · 14/08/2019 20:32

@purplefig I know! I’ve just never got the nub thing, it annoys me actually - I think of myself as quite an intelligent woman but I just can’t see it. Sometimes I can’t even see a nub! Yeah, just keep an eye on it really - if you’re feeling really pants it’s worth flagging to the midwife to at least rule it out. But of course you could also just be having a rough day! Yeah I’m really looking forward to the Pilates course, she’s a pregnancy expert too so I feel quite comfortable with her! Your dinner sounds lovely - I’m gearing myself up for the dogs last walk as DH is at rugby. Dog currently sat directly in front of me giving me that ‘lets GO’ stare!

MrsR16 · 14/08/2019 21:42

@MrsEG I'm so thrilled everything went ok today! Isn't it a huge relief to be able to share your news with absolutely everyone? 😊

Crossfitgirl · 15/08/2019 06:35

Thank you so much everyone for all your lovely wishes. @Cookie0508 and congratulations to you too, hope you're feeling OK. I can't believe it still lol.
Home today, yay! Going to be so strange going back home with an extra person!

ELW85 · 15/08/2019 07:19

Morning all!
Today is my Friday as we’re away this weekend so hopefully it’s a quick one 😊 8 weeks today, too!

@thumper59 - ah totally, ‘do whatever makes you happy as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else’ is my way of living too, And good on you for letting it wash over you :) your life is far from boring!

@MrsEG - I’m so, so happy for you! I bet it was amazing 💕

@purplefig - how are you feeling today? Your tea sounded lovely! I made a lamb pathia in the name of trying to fight a cold off.

Tropicana1 · 15/08/2019 07:47

Hi Ladies! Feel like I've not been on in such a long time 🙈 things have been so busy and I took a little Mumsnet break because I felt like I was on here all the time and not being at all productive!
Really looking forwards to a good read through to catch up on any news though!
@MrsEG so pleased to see things are still going well 🙌🏻
@Crossfitgirl @Cookie0508 huge congratulations you must both be over the moon! ❤️
Had a lovely little break but now very excited to be back on here 😂🙌🏻

@Tropicana1, welcome back to my pregnancy twin!! When is your 20 week scan again?? Mine isn't until 29th August, so I'll actually be bang on 21 weeks!

Ladies, I've started a new thread as this one is almost full!

Jessikka · 15/08/2019 08:21

Horrible night last night ladies. Never want to experience that again.

I was led in bed under a quilt as normal and was trying to drop off when all of a sudden I felt like my belly flipped and I felt nauseous. As I was trying to decipher what was going on I had a weird sensation in groin that almost felt like a burn...I then had a major hot flush sweep over me which felt like it radiated from my belly. I literally felt my temp spike and the OH said i was boiling. I then had a weird ache in my hip bone go into my general pelvic area and it subsided. I managed to stay calm and just ride it out but it was horrid. I kept expecting to start bleeding etc. I'm now in limbo. I've no idea if it was just upset hormones or if it was the start of something more sinister. I'm so frightened and I wouldn't wish last night on my worst enemy.

I'm trying to stay as calm and upbeat as I can. Got some minor cramps this morn which I've had every morn since BFP. My head says I'm ok. Heart is worried.

Sorry to start the day with a downer!

purplefig · 15/08/2019 10:15

@Jessikka sorry to hear about that, it sounds really rough. Just a heads up, the thread has moved to the link below so people probably won't be checking this one now x
