@Crossfitgirl - oh wow! Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby and what a good labour to have! Water birth sounds amazing!

MrsEG · 14/08/2019 07:15

Ahhhhhh congratulations @Cookie0508 and @Crossfitgirl on the safe arrivals of your little ones! Hope you are both doing great! Xx

MrsEG · 14/08/2019 07:25

@purplefig My quote for enough for two is just over £400, so I reckon £200 is a fairly safe bet for one! The Nappy Lady will do you a free quote based entirely on your needs too.
I think that sounds a really good way of looking at things for DH birthday! Even if he did decide to go alone, at that stage you’ll likely just nap most of the weekend anyway :)

@stormtrooperjulian @TrashKitten10 @thumper59 Sorry to hear you’re in pain! Sounds like going private is the best option; interesting to hear it’s more common with an ongoing back complaint - mine has never been right since I slipped a disc a few years ago. I’ll keep an eye on that!

@thumper59 Your nursery is beautiful! Looks totally gorgeous. Let the nesting commence!

@cupcakesandglitter I always felt hungry and awful - never let yourself feel empty though, snack though it - sometimes is can be your blood sugar or BP being low causing it. I snacked like crazy! I found Seabands really useful to help me get through the working day too.

@PippaPug Midwife told me the same, and that most twin preggos are ready to finish work at 28 weeks which just sounded so early to me! But I suppose they are the experts. We have to remember how big we’ll get and of course all the additional risks. I’ve already chatted to work about it and I’m basically going to try and get to the Christmas break and then play January by ear.
I’m high risk too and my BMI was fine - it’s literally just because it’s a twin pregnancy. It’s not as scary as it sounds, though! We are at a higher risk for things like pre-eclampsia and of course early labour so that’s why, and they’ll keep a good eye on us throughout :)

PippaPug · 14/08/2019 07:44

@MrsEg - Thank you, your doing a very good job of reassuring me 😂 I will be 29 weeks just before Christmas - and I also live away from home when I’m working so I don’t think I’m going to make it to that point sadly - but the idea of being at home in winter not doing much does not appeal to me!
Are you looking at reusable nappies? That’s amazing! I was going to do reusable with one but now unsure with two and if we don’t move before they arrive we are running out of space to dry them!

TrashKitten10 · 14/08/2019 07:52

@Cookie0508 @Crossfitgirl Congratulations on your gorgeous babies! So fab to come on and see such lovely news.

@PippaPug Take it easy if you're feeling dizzy, especially with your low blood pressure. Great news that the natural birth you want is still a possibility.

@ELW85 The first trimester is SO long, but it will start to fly by after that. I felt exactly the same when my nausea started and then stopped. When it's the only symptom you've got to go on you really want it just to make things feel real. How many weeks are you now?

@purplefig I'll have a look at that. Ive got a very low pain tolerance so I'll need all the hypnosis help I can get Grin

@cupcakesandglitter Sounds like you had a miserable day yesterday, hope you're not so nauseous today. Keep your hydration up and try to nibble on things you fancy and bed down if that's the most comfortable place. It will pass :)

@thumper59 Oh gosh, I imagine the smart car wasn't designed for a spacious PGP swing out 😂 your nursery looks gorgeous! Love the bedding, where was that from? We've gone for some little animal prints too, good old Pinterest ideas ☺️

28 weeks today! Although I had my 28 week appointment yesterday. My midwife doesn't listen to the heartbeat which is a bit disappointing but I've not actually asked why. People on here were talking about whether their midwife would listen at their 16 week appointment so I was quite surprised when it didn't happen at that one or the following two. Or is that normal? She measured my fundal height as 27cm so that was all good and gives me a good response to MIL who seems to think I'm the most ginormous pregnant woman in the world and compares me to all the tiny pregnant ladies she knows 😒

BostonFern · 14/08/2019 07:59

@TrashKitten10 yes, it's by the same lady 🙂
My midwives start listening for the heartbeat after the 16 week appointment, seems unusual not to listen at all (and disappointing for you!). Glad you've got something to come back at MIL with!

@thumper59 your nursery looks wonderful!

@Cookie0508 congratulations! He's gorgeous, hope you are healing well too.

@Crossfitgirl congratulations, what a beautiful baby girl! Sounds like a really positive labour too.

I'm 25 weeks today, DP will be decorating today, so I'll probably visit my parents who are on childcare duties with my nephew today. Got dinner out with the girls from work this evening too, will be nice to catch up after not seeing them for a few weeks. They're keen to see how big bump has got too!

cupcakesandglitter · 14/08/2019 08:14

@thumper59 it's beautiful, and soon you'll have your little baba in there to complete it 🥰

Ahhh @Cookie0508 he's beautiful 😭❤️ Congratulations Mama!! Xx

Omg @Crossfitgirl ahhhh congrats to you too!!! She's gorgeous!!! Xx

@TrashKitten10 @MrsEG trouble is everything I tried snacking on yesterday wasn't working 😂 I've gone off noodles, veg, salad and pasta (pasta is my fave thing ever so I'm not happy about this!!) oh and cheese too. DH waited until I slept last night, he researched what will help and he's done a big Asda shop with crackers ginger etc etc 😭 he's definitely in my good books! I need to get some of those bands though definitely!! I'm hoping today will be a bit better than yesterday 😭 x

Ahhh @BostonFern sounds like a lovely day, enjoy!! X

TrashKitten10 · 14/08/2019 08:29

@cupcakesandglitter Oh yes, veg and salad are probably out for at least the rest of the first trimester, along with anything else vaguely nutritious Grin well done to your DH getting you sorted out with plenty of snacks. My most reliable snack was ready salted crisps, although crackers and biscuits are good shouts too Biscuit

MrsR16 · 14/08/2019 08:41

@Cookie0508 OMG congratulations!! Noah is just gorgeous 😊

@Crossfitgirl huge congratulations to you, lovely! She is looking simply scrumptious!

@TrashKitten10 glad to hear you're getting on ok! 28 weeks, wow - you're getting close now hey?

@cupcakesandglitter your DH is sweet trying to help out like that!

thumper59 · 14/08/2019 08:50

@Cookie0508 @Crossfitgirl They are both the most perfect little babies I have ever seen 🥰 huge huge congratulations to you both!!

@PippaPug Thankyou! I can't! Hoping these last 3 months fly x

@MrsEG Thankyou! I'd say I'm doing OHs head in already tidying up all the time but I do that anyway 😂

@TrashKitten10 no not at all! Smart cars aren't designed for the pregnant lady 😂. Mine has been in garage for 2 months now! I'm hoping it comes back at the end of the week but I'm not getting my hopes up. Thankyou, the bedding was from a local store but it's mamas and papas millie and borris (?) range. I got it all 1/2 price as it's last seasons! But I loved it more than this seasons and luckily they still had a few bits in stock 😊 I have my 28 week one today. The midwife didn't listen at 16 weeks but did at my last one so I'll see what she does today

@BostonFern aw Thankyou 😊

@cupcakesandglitter Thankyou, it feels so surreal! 🥰

ELW85 · 14/08/2019 08:57

@cupcakesandglitter - what a star DH is! That’s so lovely of him :)

@Cookie0508 @Crossfitgirl - congratulations on your new arrivals! They’re gorgeous xx

@TrashKitten10 - thank you for the reassurance. I’m trying to get my head out of the negative space, but just struggling to shake it for some stupid reason.
I’m 7+6 today, and food wise feel like I’m not hungry for anything, but last week I had days of feeling really sick (never been sick) so I realise I’m probably over analysing it, but it’s hard when it’s such a ‘common’ symptom. At least I’ve still got sore boobs I guess 😂

cupcakesandglitter · 14/08/2019 08:58

@TrashKitten10 @MrsR16 I have a feeling he searched Mumsnet for it 😂😂 oh well, plain food here I come! Plus I never buy biscuits because I can't limit myself to one or two 😂

Ladies I need some reassurance this morning please - TMI but I've gone to the loo and when I've wiped, there seems to be a very slight pinkish/brownish tinge on the tissue. I checked my cervix and nothing at all so I'm not sure what it is - the doctor has told me to wait a few days and then POAS on Friday... is this normal? Has anyone else had it? Panicking now 😩

Bettythecat · 14/08/2019 09:20

Just came on here to say hi- struggling to keep up with how fast the conversation moves(!) but saw that we have two new babies!! Welcome to the world littles ones @Cookie0508 @Crossfitgirl - what beautiful little ones and congratulations to you both!

@cupcakesandglitter it's not happened to me but I know women who have had spotting for a significant part of their pregnancies and both are fine. Some slight spotting or even bleeding is quite usual for many women. I don't know about the advice to take another test though because you will still test positive for a while even after something has gone wrong so I wouldn't say that was very good advice. If I was you and I was worried I would call A&E or get to the local Early Pregnancy Unit if you can self refer (their website will tell you) for some proper reassurance. Xxx

cupcakesandglitter · 14/08/2019 09:25

Thanks @Bettythecat I've read the same too, to be honest with my other mc's/cp's I just knew it was bad, I don't feel like this is, but I've gone to the loo again and there's nothing at all so I guess I just don't know what to think... but I've just thrown up so morning sickness is well and truly here 😩 but it feels a little reassuring I guess x

purplefig · 14/08/2019 09:58

@Cookie0508 congrats!! What an absolute cutie and I love the name too.

@Crossfitgirl I was only thinking about you the other day, and how it mustn't be long to go for you. Congratulations, that sounds like an amazing labour! Do you feel freaking epic?! She's so adorable and could pull off any of those names.

@TrashKitten10 it sounds like it would be a good match for you. If you're keen, you'll probably want to start soon though as the longer you practice, often, the more effective it can be. Glad you've got info for your MIL - such an unnecessary thing for her to say.

@cupcakesandglitter on the days I felt really nauseous, plain crackers and even plain bread worked a charm. It's boring but it's short term and you should feel better for eating something. Spotting is fairly common in early pregnancy but I totally get it's a worry. Could you ring your local midwife unit for advice?

@MrsEG All the best for this afternoon ❤️

I'm feeling physically a bit grim today. Was up in the night three times to wee (!) and I've woken up incredibly groggy and I just feel off.

cupcakesandglitter · 14/08/2019 11:33

Thanks @purplefig I'm gonna hold off and wait until I get anymore until I call the midwife.. sorry you had a rough night, are you resting up today? X

purplefig · 14/08/2019 12:04

@cupcakesandglitter I think that's a sensible approach. Are you feeling a bit better now? I've got work to do, but I'm not going all out and may factor in an afternoon nap later haha.

This is a bit of a random one, but I wonder if any of you guys have experience with it. I'm 28, but I'd say based off of other peoples reactions I look more like very early 20s. I always get ID'd for alcohol - the other day I got ID'd for paracetamol. And just now I've been ID'd for accepting the online food shop (!!!) , which I didn't even realise was a thing. I don't particularly care, but I do worry that it means I get taken less seriously and I'm worried about this in relation to becoming a mum. Does anyone else feel similarly? Any ideas on how to exude an air of maturity when you regularly get mistaken for a teenager?! It probably doesn't help that I work from home so wear very casual clothes, barely ever wear make-up etc.

cupcakesandglitter · 14/08/2019 12:22

@purplefig I do thanks 😊a bit nauseous but have all my dry boring snacks in bed with me 😂 it's not quite the same but I'm only 24, I get ID'd whenever I don't wear any makeup and I'm actually DREADING people's reactions when I say I'm pregnant. Tbh from when we were thinking about TTC we mentioned it to some friends and lot of people told us to wait till our 30s and not to wish our lives away etc etc etc... I guess we just have to almost "prove" we're mature and that actually it doesn't matter what other people think. Reading this back I'm not sure I've answered your question at all 😂😂

MrsR16 · 14/08/2019 13:31

@cupcakesandglitter I had full on spotting three different times throughout my first trimester. Baby's currently kicking away! If you are concerned, I'd call your midwife rather than your doctor, they're awesome at reassuring and they don't care how many times you call them for the same thing! They know how worrying a first baby can be. Xx

thumper59 · 14/08/2019 14:10

@purplefig @cupcakesandglitter I'm similar! I'm 23,24 3 days after babies due date. So far I haven't found anyone treat me as a 'young mum' or anything, although one time I did go to a midwife with my mum, and the midwife I saw I felt was questioning me as though the baby was a result of a one night stand or something and that's why dad' wasn't there 🙄 when the urine samples had all come back she said 'oh and clear for all sti's and nasties, you must be pleased about that' and I was a bit taken aback wondering what she was suggesting 😂

purplefig · 14/08/2019 14:43

@thumper59 urghhhh that's awful though! Such a cringe-y attitude of her.

@cupcakesandglitter I think when to have a baby is a totally personal decision and, to be honest, none of anyone else's business! There are pros and cons for having a baby at various life stages, you just have to go with what suits you two and your lifestyle.

Mine is more an issue of feeling like I look a lot younger than I actually am. But I guess it's just something I'll have to get over!

On another note, did anyone see the news that the birth rate in England Wales is at the lowest rates since records began? (And can anyone tell I am procrastinating?!) www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-49192445

FlapJackered · 14/08/2019 16:13

Just popped on to see if any news @Crossfitgirl she is GORGEOUS! Well done lovely, such an amazing achievement and a beautiful baby!! Congratulations! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I hope everyone else is doing well too! Xx

MrsEG · 14/08/2019 16:21

12 week scan went amazing today :) Sonographer actually called them ‘model babies’ ♥️ They we’re both wriggling about and Twin B was kicking legs around like mad! They’ve dated me ever so slightly ahead at 12+3, which means given twins a Feb birth now less likely and they’ll be here end of Jan! I’m rapidly running out of months hah! I’m so, so relieved though - it was such a wonderful experience. Nuchal all looked fine too - just waiting on bloods now :)

To all you youngsters - enjoy it! I’m 34, what I wouldn’t give to be ID’d!! I think people will say all kinds to us about parenting, everyone has an opinion on everything and loves to tell you it - just let it wash right over you!

@purplefig Keep an eye on the feeling rough and peeing a lot - that’s exactly how I felt with my UTI, biggest ‘ugh’ thing that made me groggy was my temp was up and I was so so sweaty! But peeing in the night and all day. Now it’s gone I’m only getting up once a night - woohoo!

@PippaPug Yes definitely going to use reusables - looks like I’ll need disposables til they are 10lb and then can switch. The money I’ll save over the years is unreal!

@TrashKitten10 28 weeks!! Into the third tri now? Ugh why do MILs say such awful things! Just call her fat next time she says it, she’ll soon shut up!

@BostonFern Dinner with the girls sounds lovely :) enjoy!

@cupcakesandglitter I had some beige-ish discharge twice at 6 and 8 weeks it was absolutely nothing, consultant didn’t bat an eyelid when I mentioned it!

ELW85 · 14/08/2019 16:41

@thumper59 - oh my god, what a horrendous attitude she had! It’s entirely possible to be young and have a planned pregnancy!
Not that I would know, as like @MrsEG I’m 34 and am marginally past getting ID’d - but only just, haha!

@purplefig - you’re absolutely awesome and if anyone is foolish enough to have preconceptions, it doesn’t change that and don’t let it affect you 😊

@MrsEG - congratulations!! I’m so pleased the scan went well. What a lovely thing for the sonographer to say. Was it emotional to see them? I know I’ll 100% cry!

The nausea has still sort of disappeared but I’m absolutely exhausted and still have really sore boobs, so trying to forget my worries. Thanks for all of the support guys :) x

purplefig · 14/08/2019 16:43

@MrsEG so so so happy for you and your model babies!!! Absolutely excellent news. Do you feel like you can chill out a bit now? Not that you weren't chilled, but 12 weeks is the first big landmark and you passed it with flying colours by the sounds of things! You're right about all aspects of parenting being commented on. I just really dislike how much younger I look than I actually am, but what can you do. Worse problem to have etc. Thanks for the heads up re: UTI. I went through a phase of getting them quite badly, and it doesn't feel like that (that horrid, burning need to pee and then barely anything coming out). How did yours get picked up? I'm not due to see the midwife for a while so guess I'd have to make drs appointment if I suspect it.
