@MrsEG Wow! Double congratulations to you, what amazing news!

MrsC87 · 06/07/2019 06:19

I'm still here @RanchoRelaxo waiting for waters to be broken! Starting to get really hacked off now as no sign of being taken down to delivery. So many women ahead of me 🙄
How are you doing? 💖

@MrsR16 @mrsof20118 @thumper59 @Tropicana1 @RanchoRelaxo @TrashKitten10 @Delilah7 Thanks ladies, I see the consultant on Monday and just have such a huge list of questions haha. I’ve woken up feeling really quite queasy this morning but I wonder if it’s just shock! They only measure just over 6 weeks so it’s still very early days but the sonographers (there were 3 in the room at one point!) seemed really happy with what they saw.

@Delilah7 He is adorable! How is he doing now? How are you feeling?

@MrsC87 oh how frustrating for you!! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it’s your turn soon!

@RanchoRelaxo Congrats again, great weight too! What have you called her? How are you feeling?

We have a family picnic today and I am bloody bursting to tell my mum and sister but DH wants to wait a while - he thinks this is just going to be the most amazing surprise and that waiting for a scan in a few weeks where they look more like babies and not little blobs will be more fun! I completely agree and see his logic but I don’t know how I’m going to stop myself from blurting it out haha!

BostonFern · 06/07/2019 07:27

Oh no @MrsC87 how frustrating, I really hope things progress for you soon.

@Delilah7 he's doing a good job- he's gorgeous!

@MrsEG enjoy your picnic and good luck not blurting out your amazing news!

stormtrooperjulian · 06/07/2019 08:36

@EltzBee I’ve been wondering about that rule that the baby wears one extra layer of clothing.... I’m always cold, I’m the one wearing a hoodie when everyone else is in a T-shirt, so I was wondering if we base that rule off my comfort level or my DH (who is much more normal about temperatures) cos if we base it off me then the baby will always be in his pram suit 😂

@RanchoRelaxo congratulations! I hope you recover quickly from the c section. How are you finding it being a mother?

@MrsEG ahhhh that’s amazing news! So glad the scan went well too

@GemmaJen I agree that everything is better with cake! I’m interested in trying reusable nappies but the research I’ve done so far has just made it seem overwhelming, all the different options available etc, I don’t know how anyone makes a decision on what type of nappies to try

@MrsC87 that’s so annoying, I don’t understand why they’d call you in for an induction then just leave you sitting there for days! I hope something happens today.

Fivebyfive2 · 06/07/2019 09:41

@stormtrooperjulian, I'd be the same, I'm always saying my arms are chilly so would always think baby needs sleeves!!

So our plan for today was to go to Mothercare and start looking at stuff, make notes etc and then look at some cars. Hopefully going to Godiva festival this evening to watch Feeder 😎 But... We went to my brother's for a bbq last night and they played beer pong (but with alllll different types of booze!) So we may skip the car but until dh feels better 😂 To be fair he was the most sober out of the drinking people, managed to pace himself quite well, so we might be able to fit it all in. I think he's worried if we go to Mothercare with a sale on, I'll end up getting a pram or a cot or something, when we're only 13 weeks and haven't sorted any space for stuff yet! It's definitely something I'd do as well 😂

BabySquid · 06/07/2019 10:30

@GemmaJen @stormtrooperjulian my mum used reusable nappies with both me and my brother, but was a stay at home mum and I won't be, I doubt I'll have the time to do a wash of nappies as well as working and looking after a baby.

I'm off for my early scan now, then off to tell my parents 😬 I'm excited but nervous at the same time... don't know why tho I know they'll be over the moon, just daunting telling your parents you successfully had unprotected sex haha

Delilah7 · 06/07/2019 10:45

@MrsEG he was 5'9 when born and came out at 5'6 and he's now 6'1! So he's doing well. Sleeping seems to be ok at the moment but don't wanna day too much and jinx it! 😂

@BostonFern thank you Hun! hope you're ok x x

GemmaJen · 06/07/2019 11:31

@stormtrooperjulian the nappy lady website questionnaire is a good place to start. We've gone for little lambs for overnight with tots bots teenyfits during the day. Then got a couple of spare miosolos, Charlie bananas, fuzzybuns and easyfits to try after the early days. Hopefully it will all work out 🤞

@BabySquid I'm hopefully going back to work after 6 months, the nursery are happy to take them in reusables and I figure I can throw a wash in every other day. The cost saving alone for us makes it seem like it's worth a try. I've been in touch with out local nappy library, they've been really lovely and full of advice on how to make it work.

Fivebyfive2 · 06/07/2019 11:48

Soooo... Mothercare will have to wait until tomorrow. Just remembered I'm meeting friends for lunch, has been arranged for ages!! They're picking me up in like 15 mins, if I hadn't seen a random fb post that made me remember I'd have been out when they came by!! Pregnancy brain is real 🤦‍♀️😛

purplefig · 06/07/2019 13:54

@BabySquid all the best for the scan. If it's any consolation I felt the same telling my parents 😂

@MrsEG good luck for not blurting it out...I'd struggle!

Gorgeous day here. We're renovating and just trying to get last bits wrapped up ahead of the new arrival! Just finished off and now taking the dog out for a stroll. Scan (8+5) tomorrow and a bit nervous so trying to take my mind off.

TrashKitten10 · 06/07/2019 15:48

@GemmaJen @stormtrooperjulian Great to see more cloth bum enthusiasts :) I've decided to go with reusable nappies and have just received my first delivery today! They are so ridiculously cute and even my initially reluctant DH has been enthusiastic to play around with the poppers and practise adding boosters. It might be a different story when they're covered in poo. The nappy lady recommended me investing completely in Bumgenius elementals for daytime at a cost of nearly £400 but these then started to go through a nationwide shortage so I did some research into other options. For daytime I'm going to get a selection of Blueberry Simplex, Baba and Boo and Littles and Bloomz to try and see what I want to buy more of. There are a ridiculous number of options but I've narrowed it down to a high, mid and low price point option and figured I can see what I think from there. The Cloth Nappies UK Facebook page has lots of great advice and obviously includes recommendations beyond the brands that The Nappy Lady stocks although I think her questionnaire is a great starting point to consider your needs.

BabySquid · 06/07/2019 16:25

Hi guys.... so here it is... measuring a couple days bigger than the EPAU scan, at 8+5
Both my mum and dad cried when we told them they were so happy.

MrsEG · 06/07/2019 17:21

@BabySquid Wonderful stuff, congrats :) Bet you’ve had a lovely day! X

Fivebyfive2 · 06/07/2019 17:26

@BabySquid, aah look at that picture! I'm so glad you had a lovely day telling the parents, it is definitely one of the best parts!! Xxx

So... Both dh and I are too tired to do the mini festival (who even are we these days?! 😂) But we're going to see Midsummar at the cinema, so hopefully that will be good. I've heard it's quite intense!!

TrashKitten10 · 06/07/2019 18:00

@BabySquid Fantastic news, so pleased you've had such a lovely day

MrsEG · 06/07/2019 22:26

@purplefig Good luck tomorrow with your scan, hope it all goes brilliantly x

@Fivebyfive2 Ha Enjoy the scary ones now, my sister couldn’t hack scary films in her third trimester they gave her heart palpitations haha!

I am floored with exhaustion today, I’ve napped intermittently all evening. The picnic absolutely ruined me haha! And we only really walked to the ice cream parlour and back 🙈

Cookie0508 · 07/07/2019 06:38

@RanchoRelaxo congratulations!! Glad she is doing well. Take care of yourself and don't try to do too much while you heal up xx

@MrsEG twins!! How lovely! Congratulations! xx

@BabySquid yay! And measuring bigger too, great signs :) xx

purplefig · 07/07/2019 07:46

@MrsEG thanks ❤️ all my symptoms seem to have lessened the last few days so super nervous. Will update this afternoon. You've now got two excuses for being tired 😂 nice lazy Sunday?

@BabySquid ahhh gorgeous - glad it went well telling your parents.

Have a relaxing Sunday all!

MrsC87 · 07/07/2019 07:59

Ladies I've lost the plot now, full on mental breakdown this morning, day 5 and I'm still waiting 😥

TrashKitten10 · 07/07/2019 08:17

@MrsC87 You poor thing :( It's awful them making you wait so long, days of stress and lack of sleep don't exactly put you in the best mindset to manage labour and birth. No advice other than kicking up a fuss but really hope things get going for you ASAP
