@MrsEG your in-laws sound...interesting! Sounds like you're well experienced at dealing with them though - they'll get over it. Just a shitty response to you saying no, which isn't ideal. My banana bread recipe is just three bananas and oh. my. god. No regrets. Banana bread for dinner was the best thing ever! Sorry to hear you had a rubbish night too - but YIPPEEEEE YAY for no more injections. And scan day tomorrow. What time?

@Jessikka totally get it's really early days, I just think tests can be a form of torture after you've got your positive.

@stormtrooperjulian to be honest, that's exactly how I feel but it's a very nuanced situation. His relationship with his parents is...tricky. And his mum hasn't got much time left. But selfishly I don't want him to go.

@Fuiseog sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of it, that sounds like a really, really trying weekend. I hope you're taking care of yourself.

@ELW85 Please don't panic - symptoms coming and going are perfectly normal. Some days I felt fine, other days I felt pretty queasy. To be honest, I never felt that awful though. And like @MrsEG says, plenty of people don't have any sickness at all. But I was exactly the same and got myself worked up about feeling 'fine', hence the early scan, which really did wonders to reassure me.

How's everyone doing today? I'm not great to be honest. Having a mild freak out about finances after making a list of stuff we need to get last night. And can't stop thinking about what to do for DHs birthday situation in December. I need to stop thinking about it as it's bloody ages away, so pointless. But it's really playing on my mind. Hope everyone else is feeling brighter! :)

MrsEG · 13/08/2019 11:06

@cupcakesandglitter Thanks hun ♥️

@thumper59 Yeah definitely mention it and don’t suffer through it if you don’t have to! really hope the midwife can arrange some help for you :)

@purplefig It’s not until later on tomorrow, 2.20 - so no doubt they’ll be running behind when I get there too! I’m gonna have to make some banana bread today now!
Yep I feel you - when we starting looking there’s so many things we need two of as well, and it’s never the cheap stuff! Luckily my mum has already offered to pay for half of the travel system which has been a godsend. Just then need two cots, bouncy chairs, high chairs.... It can seem really overwhelming at first but we’re thinking of getting just little and often. We’re not gonna get any clothes at all til nearer the time as everyone says this is the most gifted thing anyway and Mum already has loads she’s picked up in charity shops, as does my sister. Everyone makes it work somehow!

PippaPug · 13/08/2019 11:09

@MrsEG - I think I’m still trying to get my head around the idea of twins, I’m in the waiting room and the tv is showing all these smiley couples with their one baby 🙄 just done my urine sample - I have a feeling it’s going to be the first of many!

@purplefig - I’m also worried about fiancés, we need a new car and also to move and that’s without anything for the two of them - or anything I’m going to need. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions isn’t it?!

@ELW85 - easier said then done, but try not to worry about the nausea, I had a few days where mine almost disappeared and then came back again and like MrsEG I have double the hormones and haven’t been sick - pregnancy is a confusing time and every person is different with it!

purplefig · 13/08/2019 11:12

@MrsEG @PippaPug thanks guys, it's good to feel less alone. And you are both way more justified in your feelings than me given you need double the bits and bobs! Ultimately it will all work out - it can just be a bit overwhelming if you think about it all at once. I think you're right, @MrsEG, little and often will be my mantra. I am also planning on getting a lot second-hand, which will help reduce costs.

thumper59 · 13/08/2019 11:36

@purplefig I think it's the hormones! I am a bit of a worrier and I do like to have all my ducks in a row at the best of times, but since being pregnant I am a double organiser 😂 I keep wondering what to do for OHs bday in October, which is 2 weeks before my due date! Because he won't be able to have a mad one but I don't want him to miss out too much. Think I'm gonna plan a meal out for us and family. Then I wonder why I am panicking because it's weeks away yet. 😂. My birthday is 3 days after due date so I've wrote it off this year 😂

thumper59 · 13/08/2019 11:37

@MrsEG good luck not buying any clothes until closer to the time.... I said that 🙄😂 it's so hard to resist!! Little man has a full wardrobe for until he's about 6-9 months now already 😂. Baby clothes are just to cute!!

daisiesandpeonies · 13/08/2019 11:38

Is going to this week's Aldi special buys baby event jumping the gun a bit? 😂 My 12 week scan in next Tuesday. Looks like such good deals though! I'm getting a bit paranoid about money now. We're looking at new cars too atm. Think just a 5 door version of what we already have will be fine.

purplefig · 13/08/2019 11:51

@thumper59 I'm sure you're probably right. I keep blaming hormones but then that makes knowing if I have a point / am being unreasonable, really difficult to work out. Urghhh. Told you all I was in a grump today

@daisiesandpeonies no I think you should do whatever feels right to you. And buying, like @MrsEG said little and often, is probably good for budgeting anyway.

MrsEG · 13/08/2019 12:01

@PippaPug I noticed that, there’s just pics of women with one baby everywhere - even when I went to the twin clinic it was the same haha! I like think it just makes us part of a special club :)

@purplefig It’s so overwhelming to see it all listed out but to be honest it’s why I’m getting my sister to proof our list too so I can avoid buying something I’ll never use! Got a fab quote from the Nappy Lady though so that’s made me feel a lot better as I worried two lots of those would be really expensive.
It is a tricky one on DH birthday! I’ll be 30 weeks when DH has his birthday and I’ve told him we’re doing nothing. To be honest he said he’d expected not to, so I didn’t feel too terrible, but i then carried on with ‘and you also can’t drink that day just in case, and to be honest I probably can’t afford to buy you a present either’... He’s very chilled out though and said ‘You’ll be giving me two babies, that’s my present’ and then I cried 🤷‍♀️ Hashtag hormones indeed. Is it something you need to decide on now or could you both see how you’re feeling a bit closer to the time? I know when families are involved it can be a pain as they always ask for updates!

@thumper59 Ha oh god I know, I keep seeing such cute things pop up on Instagram and taking screenshots ‘just in case’ ha!

@daisiesandpeonies I say do whatever you want, but I also totally understand! I have been the same. I have a saved list and haven’t bought anything and won’t til after tomorrow - ridiculous really given how many scans I’ve already had! I don’t even know why - perhaps I want to reward myself for getting through it!! I’ve even got my space reserved on the NCT class I want to do but can’t bring myself to click ‘accept’ til tomorrow 🙈

purplefig · 13/08/2019 13:52

@MrsEG hahaha like you we've just sent our list off to our friends who have two kids to proof - as I think we might have gone a bit overboard. Possibly. Hard to tell! I've put £150 down as an estimate for reusable nappies, just from a quick bit of googling. Need to do a bit more research. That's what the list highlighted to me - how much further research there is to do! And that's just stuff...then there's the whole, you know, raising a person (people!) thing to grapple with Grin.

Yeah it's a really tricky one because I know he's only going back out of obligation because his mum is severely unwell (it's a really complex issue to be honest). After thinking about it over lunch, I've decided if the time comes and he still wants to go, and I don't feel up to it, I'll just stay behind and be OK with it. It's ages away, so like you say, no pressure to decide now. OMG ‘You’ll be giving me two babies, that’s my present’....cue ugly crying. What an absolute champ.

stormtrooperjulian · 13/08/2019 14:28

@thumper59 I have mild SPD, the best way I can describe it is it feels like I've been kicked between the legs. I knew it was likely for me, I have a historic back injury which is a risk factor for it.
Midwife was useless, just said 'well if it gets any worse let us know and we can give you coping strategies', no mention of physio or anything 🙄 I paid for a private physio session immediately, got some advice and some exercises to do and that seems to have helped, it hasn't got any worse over the past 10 weeks (which is what I was worried about - a friend ended up on crutches for months).
Keep your knees together when rolling over in bed or getting out of the car and keep your pelvis level - e.g. don't cross your legs when sitting, keep a pillow between your knees when lying on your side etc.

thumper59 · 13/08/2019 14:33

@stormtrooperjulian that's a shame they was no help. I think that's what it's likely to be, yeah mine feels like I've been kicked in the crotch and the pressure sometimes feels like he could just fall out when I stand up 😂 it's the best way I can explain. Thankyou, I've just uncrossed my legs under my desk as I read that 😬. Yeah I don't want this to get any worse especially as he gets bigger! I don't know how the hell he was laid last night but I could feel/see him moving so low down, but also under my ribs! So he must of been having a nice stretch!

TrashKitten10 · 13/08/2019 15:53

@BostonFern is the hypnobirthing book from the same company? I watched a preview clip and have been practising the breathing but think I need to be getting a bit more educated about it all ☺️ Glad Ikea managed to sort out your furniture mishap, I broke one of the dowels building ours, it wouldn't be a proper flat pack if it went smoothly!

@purplefig Aww fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and we can have a lovely relaxed candle lit birth :)

@stormtrooperjulian You're getting there! What nappies did you go for in the end? I love a bit of cloth nappy chat! Hopefully they quickly sort out your iron levels and you start to feel better :)

@PippaPug It's overwhelming thinking about having one, I can see why you're a bit stressed about bringing two into the world. Everything will fall into place though and you'll manage just fine.

@Bettythecat Glad all was okay :)

@MrsEG @Jessikka I take back any moans about my MIL after reading those requests haha

@Fuiseog Sorry to hear you've been poorly Thanks

@Jessikka Have you done a digital yet? Certainly a very strong line

@ELW85 Nausea definitely has the tendency to stop and then come back even worse so try not to worry.

@thumper59 I've been having some pelvic pain for quite a few weeks now. From what I have read there can be hideously long waits for NHS physio and many people end up going private but it's worth raising with your GP if you're struggling. Luckily mine hasn't got any worse but I've been following the tips I found online where you basically have to avoid anything that involves stretching your pelvis. Get out of bed and your car by swinging your legs across together, sit down when getting dressed rather than balancing on one leg (I first suspected PGP when I got shooting pains trying to put my knickers on 🙈) and avoid sex positions such as missionary where your legs are pulled apart. Basically be very lady like and keep your knees together!

@purplefig It's very daunting seeing it all written down. Remember lots of things people buy are not necessary and most lists can be minimised a bit. Also plenty you can pick up second hand to save a bit

thumper59 · 13/08/2019 16:45

@TrashKitten10 aw it all sounds very familiar. I think that's what it is! Oh gosh, getting out the car will be fun. Mines currently poorly so I'm driving a smart car at the min 😂😂

So the nursery is almost done! Just got to add some little shelves next to the wardrobe but I'm so happy with it. Some little pics attached of it so far 😊

I'll sort his wardrobe and drawers out properly once I've washed everything. I sometimes just sit and go through his clothes. Can't wait to meet him!

Ohhh @thumper59 how beautiful is that 😭❤️ lovely room xx

@daisiesandpeonies I mean my MIL bought us a couple of bits and i browsed through everything on Sunday - also popped into Asda and got some cute baby bits whoops 😂😂😂

I think nausea has REALLY hit me today - I've not really moved from the bed today, I feel stupidly hungry and empty and gross, is this normal?

purplefig · 13/08/2019 19:19

@TrashKitten10 oh yes we'll be buying lots secondhand and various friends have said they've got some bits we can have. It's just sort of hit me there's quite a lot to do between now and Feb! Also while hypnobirthing does teach breathing techniques etc., as I understand it's essentially a form of self hypnosis. So definitely worth going to a class / doing an online course. I'd also recommend the Evidence Based Birth podcast episode on the topic, really informative and non biased overview.

@thumper59 congrats on getting the nursery finished - that must feel so good!

@cupcakesandglitter gross is a good way to describe how I felt a lot of time during the first trimester. So I think it's pretty normal. Just try and eat whatever you can manage for now, there's plenty of time for healthy meals!

cupcakesandglitter · 13/08/2019 19:42

Ahhh Thankyou @purplefig that's made me feel a bit better - DH is home and cooking me dinner, had a big old moany sob to him 😂

thumper59 · 13/08/2019 19:46

@cupcakesandglitter Thankyou 🥰 I love it- a radiator cover and a few shelves and it's all done! I do think that's normal, I'm another that felt pretty gross in the first trimester. Other then the nausea never really poorly, just gross!

@purplefig oh it does! It's made it feel really real now 🥰🥰

ELW85 · 13/08/2019 21:05

@purplefig @thumper59 @MrsEG @PippaPug @TrashKitten10 - thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone.
I do feel a bit better knowing everyone’s nausea comes and goes, so just trying to relax until the scan.
I think the first trimester is so long and because you don’t get a lot of visible symptoms, you can kind of worry (well I do), so it’s great to bounce things off everyone.

@purplefig - how are you feeling? It gets pretty daunting when you take a step back and count everything up but it can and is tackled every day, and I don’t think there’s ever a financially (or chronologically) good time to have a baby :) you’ll be more than fine, and we’re here if you need us x

@thumper59 - wow, that all looks amazing!

PippaPug · 13/08/2019 21:50

@MrsEG - I feel a bit better after speaking to the midwife, however hearing about my job said to me what am I worried about and I can cope? 🤨🙄 I have got to have my bloods done again as not all the tests were done as well and just now waiting to hear from my consultant now.

@purplefig - how are you feeling? Yea I feel that everything will work out for all of us who are worried about things!

@TrashKitten10 - I’m hoping so! I’m trying to get the flat sorted this week before looking at putting it on the market, just struggling a bit as whenever I start I feel a bit dizzy!

@thumper59 - The nursery looks so so sweet! Bet you can’t wait to have your baby home in there!

@cupcakesandglitter - yes totally normal to feel gross and yuck, I feel like that a lot right now!

@ELW85 - how are you feeling now?

My booking in a appointment went well, my blood pressure is rather low which they want to keep a eye on it, my BMI is bit higher then they ideally want Blush has anyone else had this? Been told I’m a high risk pregnancy which I assumed but there is a chance I could still have a natural birth which has made me a bit happier that there is a possibility at least - currently.

Still trying to get my head around having twins!

Cookie0508 · 13/08/2019 22:25

Hi ladies, just an update from me. Little Noah was finally born last week weighing 8.3 and doing well. Though we're so tired! Grin

Good luck to all of you and if they offer you drugs, take them!

@PippaPug just on your last comment, I had low BP and high bmi :) he was born by induction and forceps but came out the right hole at least and I'm very happy he's here now xx

@cookie0508 - congratulations!! He is simply beautiful! Enjoy every moment of being a Mummy 💖
Also thank you for letting me know that - fingers crossed I can have a natural birth depending on the twins!

Crossfitgirl · 14/08/2019 01:50

Our little girl was born this evening (well, yesterday evening now as its 2am nearly but I can't sleep!) at 5.52pm, 6lb 140z. A very smooth labour really, have been very lucky. Gave birth in the pool, lifted her up myself and managed with 2 paracetamol, very proud of myself! No name yet but front runners are Olivia, Sophie and Jessica. She's fast asleep in the crib and I'm wiiiiide awake! Xxx
