Hello,

Starting a new penguin huddle for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

As I said in the old TTC thread, getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

My stats:
TTC since Dec 2017
Age: 31
TTC no.1
1 MMC and 3 early losses between 4-5 weeks (or, CPs, but I hate that term) all happened last year within the space of 10 months.
Currently 6+1 with 5th pregnancy

@InDreamland @moonpeace @Bluebelltulip @hayleyfx @Laney79 Please add others I may have forgotten!

@Laney79 my symptoms with my first (and only) successful pregnancy seemed to disappear at atound 11/12 weeks. Boobs got smaller, less veiny etc. I’m assuming this happened because placenta takes over and so hormones not so strong.

My missed miscarriage I remember I was constipated and suddenly that disappeared and boobs deflated very quickly- next day I bled. That was 9 weeks.

There’s no way of telling really.

Was laid in bed farting last night worrying as all previous pregnancies I’m sure I’ve been constipated early on, but can’t be sure.

rubyroot · 10/06/2019 09:51

I’m also worried as I’ve not been taking folic acid consistently over last three months and only been having usual dose- no one suggested anything different. I’ve read that people who have had t21 pregnancies have been told to take 10 x the usual dose 3 months before conception.

Spose I shouldn’t worry, there’s nothing I can do about it now!

Newbie21 · 10/06/2019 10:00

@InDreamland glad all is progressing well for you. On the Coenzyme q10 - maybe check with your gp as i think it says on the bottle to not take if pregnant. I don't think it does harm but I think it hasn't been fully tested so best to check that one with a doctor.

Laney79 · 10/06/2019 10:35

This is a great resource if you are worried about meds etc -it's been my bible for holiday! And much better/clearer advice than I got from the duty GP (who told me she was googling my question!)

I had my scan. It showed a gestational sac measuring 5 weeks 3 days and a faint yolk sac but couldn't detect a heartbeat or see the foetal pole but it may well be too early. I'm waiting for my second HCG blood test now. Although I won't get results until this afternoon. I have another scan booked for 1st July when we return from our holiday. I wish we heard a heartbeat before we go but it is early days.

Beaglemum93 · 10/06/2019 11:59

@Newbie21 Great news they could see the yolk sack, that's about as much as you can expect to see at 5 weeks, you don't normally see a heartbeat until at least 6 weeks so try not to worry. I know it would have been more reassuring to see a heartbeat but at least everything is looking as it should for this point. Fingers crossed for you!

SerenaOverjoyed · 10/06/2019 12:42

Hi all! So happy to see all these names here. Grin I was on the TTC thread for much of 2018 after 4 MCs before 5wks. I'm currently a very waddly 34+4 after being diagnosed with a thrombophillia by RMC and treated with 150mg Asprin and Heparin. As I tested positive at whst would've been 4wks+4 I have a feeling this one was just sticky anyway.

I hated the first 12wks and kept checking my knickers for blood, but all was good. I also had virtually no symptoms until 7/8 weeks, and these were really mild. On previous pregnancies my breasts exploded by 4wks, but not this one, so it does show every pregnancy is different and more symptoms don't necessarily equate to a good outcome.

I also convinced myself I was about to MC due to non-existent line progression but this turned out to be fine. I'd heartily encourage everyone to not waste money on tests and spend the money on a treat instead.

Good luck all. You all deserve this. 🐧❤

Bluebelltulip · 10/06/2019 15:53

@Newbie21 glad your scan went well.

My bereavement midwife rang me back today and we had a good chat which was nice, she told me where I am we now have a rainbow clinic run by a dedicated consultant for people who have had a stillbirth or neonatal death, so it's nice to know that I will have specialised care.

I've also found somewhere near which does early scans at a reasonable price so booked one for Saturday as my 12 week one still feels ages away.

Beaglemum93 · 10/06/2019 15:59

Great hearing about someone getting so far @SerenaOverjoyed!

All went well at my 12 week scan, measuring one day ahead at 12+1 and NT measurement was 1.2 so hopefully it'll be ok. Still quite nervous as I lost the first one at 12+2.

rubyroot · 10/06/2019 17:24

Really lovely to see all this good news. @Beaglemum93 @Newbie21 @SerenaOverjoyed

InDreamland · 10/06/2019 18:01

@Newbie21 thank you for the advice. I'll check it out. I found an article online earlier saying not to take so think I'll stop taking it until can speak to my GP or maybe NHS line. My GP surgery have started getting very unhelpful when it's stuff to do with pregnancy and mc. They just say don't know, ask a pharmacist or can't help. Remember last year I was in tears in boots because noone would help me. GP sent me to them and they said GP should advise. Glad your scan went well. Fx you see a heartbeat at the next one. Hope HCG levels come back nice and high.

@Laney79 thanks for the link. I'll have a read of that.

@SerenaOverjoyed what lovely news about you being so far along now. I remember you from the thread last year.

@Bluebelltulip good you spoke to the bereavement midwife. Sounds like you'll be well taken care of. Hope your scan this weekend goes well.

@Beaglemum93 great news about your scan. I understand the anxiety still though. Can't imagine the anxiety going until there's a baby in your arms at home.

Strange that with first pregnancy I called GP and then registered with midwife as soon as got BFP, well a day after, I was already over 5 weeks. After losing that baby though I never bothered to call with second one. Now I'm on BFP #3 I am really thinking if I don't lose it I won't bother registering with midwife until I'm 8 weeks at least. I just can barely bring myself to acknowledge this one. Convinced I'll lose it in the next week/day or so. BFP after loss seriously sucks. I keep feeling like I'm starting to bleed.

InDreamland · 10/06/2019 18:05

@rubyroot try remember every pregnancy is different and you can get different symptoms at different times and some times symptoms are less.

Anyone else had high heart rate? Was sitting at my desk earlier and suddenly felt heart pounding, measured it on my phone and it had gone up to 87 bpm. Normal resting HR for me when not pregnant is around 54-61 bpm. It then dropped later this afternoon to 64 bpm. I remember with first pregnancy my heart used to really thump at night. Think it's anxiety now.

Newbie21 · 10/06/2019 19:11

Thank you ladies. HCG levels came back and are way over double so very pleased about that. I'm going to focus on packing for holiday and enjoying my time away with the family.

@SerenaOverjoyed so lovely to hear such promising news and am glad the pregnancy is going so well.

@Beaglemum93 fantastic news on the scan. Lad things are progressing so well.

@Bluebelltulip it sounds like your area offer really good support which is so important and reassuring.

Beaglemum93 · 10/06/2019 19:15

That's great news about your HCG levels @Newbie21!

InDreamland · 10/06/2019 19:39

@Newbie21 that is great news about your HCG levels.

So I belive AF is literally just starting now. Just been for a wee and brown on panty liner and I knew I could feel it starting. I don't know how I feel. Really just fed up.

KnitKitty · 10/06/2019 19:59

@InDreamland I'm not sure if they'd prescribe the progesterone or not, but you could always ask?
I take pregnacare original (was taking conception ones, but these are cheaper! woop!) and prescribed folic acid as I have a higher risk of spina bifida. I took CoQ10 until just after O but have seen it recommended that you don't take it during pregnancy... I think just because they haven't studied the affects it has yet so it's just to be on the safe side.
I can't bring myself to organise my booking in appointment either. I'll see how my scan goes on Friday first.
It sounds like the heart-rate could be anxiety related. Keep an eye on it, and look into mindful breathing techniques.
I hope it's not AF starting hun. Big hugs.

@Beaglemum93 I'm so pleased the scan went well. I've been thinking of you.

@rubyroot if you have a good diet you should be getting plenty of folic acid from your food too, so don't worry.

@Newbie21 I'm glad the scan went well. As Beaglemum said, it's normal not to see a heart beat at this stage. My EPU won't scan until 7 weeks for this reason (obviously unless they suspect a problem which needs checking earlier).
And fantastic news about the HCG! Hopefully this means you can relax and enjoy your holiday! Grin

@SerenaOverjoyed I'm delighted to see you! I often wonder how you're doing. It's wonderful to hear that you're 34 weeks now! (That seems to have gone really fast!) I feel like you're paving the way for those of us who've had multiple early losses.

@Bluebelltulip I'm glad your chat with the midwife was helpful and sounds like they've got good care in place. I think it's a good call booking yourself an earlier scan. Hopefully it will bring you some reassurance.

@InDreamland sorry AF appears to be starting, my fingers are still crossed that it isn't. My heart rate goes up in pregnancy, I've been kept in hospital longer before as it goes above 100, usually stress and tiredness make it worse for me, normally it isn't high.

KnitKitty · 10/06/2019 20:07

As for me, I seem to be coming down with a stinking cold. Sad

I did cheer up a bit this morning when I arrived at work and retched at the smell of coffee in the kitchenette. Had one bout of slight nausea before lunch... I think maybe this pregnancy just doesn't like me being at work; I was fine all weekend.....

Hi ladies, just been checking in and saw the new thread so I’ll join for the next few weeks
Age 40, ttc#1
I had 3 mcs, refered to RMC, diagnosed with APS (Hughes syndrome).
Currently 33w 2d

Treatment was Aspirin and Heparin, came off hep at 14w and Baby checked every 2 weeks from the start. No additional complications so far other than low iron and I’m personally not gaining weight, but baby is thriving so I seem to be lucky.

The first few months is Sooooo hard. I think at one point I had to make a conscious decision to believe. Mental wellbeing is so important in our situation.

@indreamland increased resting heart rate is also normal in pregnancy. It can go up to 130 as normal , also palpitations can occur which sounds like what you had. See how the spotting goes.

@laney79 glad going well so far, placenta does start to slowly kick in from 9 weeks onwards. My symptoms were light and just about disappeared, then came on in full force around 10w till 14 weeks as baby had a growth spurt. There’s so much going on inside.

Really nice to see so many bfps. Hope the next few weeks don’t cause too much anxiety. Remember to rest, let your body focus on the complex job it has to do right now, everything else is secondary. Just ‘be’ pregnant xx

Beaglemum93 · 10/06/2019 20:13

Oh no @InDreamland :( I'm so sorry. Is there any chance it's implantation bleeding? I still have my fingers crossed for you. Keep us updated x

Newbie21 · 10/06/2019 20:19

@InDreamland I have my fingers crossed that it isn't AF. I had implantation bleeding this time - brown discharge, lasted about 8 hours. I've never had that with any previous pregnancy so you never know it could be IB.

@KnitKitty I feel your pain. I've had a hideous cold for 9 days now! I took 2 days off work last week I felt dreadful and I didn't want to push myself and then blame myself if something happened. I'm glad I did although cold still lingering. I tried to make myself feel better with the thought that I feel like sh*t because my body is focusing on protecting and giving all the goodness to baby. I felt vaguely comforted by that, I suppose. Load up on Hot lemon and honey. I hate not being able to have lemsip!

KnitKitty · 10/06/2019 20:31

It's lovely to have some ladies in their 3rd trimester on here.

Hi @Yukka; I like your advice on making a conscious decision to believe. I want to do that; but I feel like everything depends on my scan on Friday.Blush

@Newbie21 sorry you have a cold too; I do like your positive spin on it though. I'm going to make myself a hot drink and inhale some steam before bed in the hope I can sleep...

InDreamland · 10/06/2019 20:43

Thanks ladies but I've never had IB in the past 2 pregnancies so no idea what it looks like. If I posted a pic would it be TMI? Say no if you don't wanna see it.

I am totally convinced though it is AF bang on time and this is loss #3. Does GP include CP for counting losses to do RMC referral? If yes then I will call mine up although think I will anyway to get this registered as a loss on my records.
