Wow what a busy thread we are today! Can’t keep up! Welcome everyone whose joined in not going to list you all as I might miss someone! But 👋 😀

How big are everyone’s bumps? Or how big were they at 18 weeks? Everyone keeps telling me I’m huge and are my dates right or is it twins etc... I know that’s a standard thing but even my grandpa is saying it and he’s an ex GP who used to deliver the babies! 12 week scan showed one very wriggly baby but some have said another can hide behind? Did mention to MW at appointment but she didn’t comment much, they must get that all the time though. Thoughts please?

@Kathryn19 awww hun! Poor you, get the alternate heat/cold packs on that heel and rest up, hope it’s just a short blip! Also surprise or not they are precious doesn’t matter how they got there 😉

@lostlobster we also have names, a boys and a girls as not finding out the gender but agreeing was surprisingly easy, hope I don’t decide I hate them later on lol!

@CaptainSparklez wow! Extra congratulations that’s so wonderful!
A little ooops here too really lol, we had been trying for quite a while but then we’re taking a break due to my work contracts and also not wanting a Birthday too close to Christmas for baby and the first month we weren’t trying ....lol here we are 18weeks later but overjoyed, telling work was terrifying but they were amazing to be fair, only problem was I had to tell my boss really early as it was only fair as they’d only just offered me the contract a couple of weeks before lol I found out 2 weeks after the interview!

@JadeMarie my partner didn’t go to the booking in appointment but has been to all the others, honestly I think the booking in one would have bored him silly but he’s loved the scan and hearing the heartbeat at 16weeks.

Have fun at the baby show in Birmingham if you’re going, if not rest up, relax and enjoy the weekend! X

@Daffodil2491 my fb group of August due dates shows huge variation in bump size! Some people have been huge for ages and others barely have a bump at 25 weeks. I normally get the opposite comments to you... do find people's input a little annoying tbh! I've attached a photo of me at 15, 20 and yesterday (25+6) but I do still find I shrink and grow day to day!

Daffodil2491 · 17/05/2019 18:38

This is me 17+6

First pregnancy friends please!!
MyHomey · 17/05/2019 18:46

Hello! I'm a first timer Grin 24 weeks today! Lovely to 'meet' you all!

Kathryn19 · 17/05/2019 18:59

@Daffodil2491 that's a really cute, neat bump!

@MyHomey hello! Lovely to meet you Grin

lostlobster · 17/05/2019 19:01

We really struggled with boys names, we had girls names picked for ages. We’ve decided on Joshua Jude, it’s made everything feel more real!.

My bump is barely there for 28 weeks. People are shocked at how far along I am. But I’m quite petite anyway, even though it seems little one is actually going to be quite chunky. DH was 9lbs 12oz, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get that big!

64632K · 17/05/2019 19:12

Wow busy today, love the names lostlobster. Kathryn19 my 19+6 is double the size of your 25, makes me wonder if I am in line for a chunky monkey - DH was 6lbs and 4 and I was only 3 pounds and 5. I asked midwife today to check heartbeat, it sounded distorted but she said it was a very strong heartbeat and a very active baby.

Kathryn19 · 17/05/2019 19:30

@64632K that's wonderful! So glad to hear. I always had a relatively small waist and fairly strong abs so think that makes a different as well as age and other stuff?

Daffodil2491 · 17/05/2019 20:04

@Kathryn19 😊 thanks hun x

lostlobster · 17/05/2019 20:21

@64632K I’m glad to hear that all went well today x

Kathryn19 · 17/05/2019 22:52

@lostlobster I think it's a great name, love the name Joshua Smile

MyHomey · 18/05/2019 08:18

We're discussing names at the moment! We don't know what we're having, but like Robyn for a girl. I like Jack for a boy, but my DH likes more obscure names (his faves are Rupert, Buddy and River!) not sure how we'll decide!!

MyHomey · 18/05/2019 08:19

@lostlobster I also love the name Joshua! Reminds me of Rachel in Friends falling for Josh-ua! (You'll only know the reference if you've seen a lot of Friends!!)

lostlobster · 18/05/2019 09:21

@MyHomey River was one of our contenders, both mine and DH’s favourite ever name is Jack but his friend has that name so we couldn’t.

The friends reference is the final reason we chose it, we were worried he’d be Josh but Joshua in friends was never Josh.

Leannej1986 · 18/05/2019 16:01

Hello all first time mummys, I'm 10 +1 weeks expecting mine Friday 13th December!!! Having my first scan 3rd June so waiting to get my correct due date then!!!
What a completely surreal experience, I haven't been having the best last 3 weeks, constantly feeling nausea, bloated, complete loss of appetite for most foods, absolutely exhausted, and last few days been getting headaches. Love the fact I have found this and can share and read all your posts. x

lostlobster · 18/05/2019 17:52

@Leannej1986 Congratulations! I hope you’re doing well

MyHomey · 18/05/2019 19:09

@Leannej1986 Hang in there! I felt exactly the same way and starting feeling a bit miserable, but by 14 weeks it completely cleared and all energy came back! You'll get there. Congrats!!

Lumosknox · 18/05/2019 19:14

Hi everyone :)

Really nice to see all the first time mum stories so far and hope I'm not too late to join! I'm 14+6 today and due 10th Novemeber. Feeling positive after a bit of a rough week waiting for harmony test results (came back low risk yesterday) after a high risk result from screening tests at my 12 week scan.
Feel like I can start looking forward to things again!

Lumosknox · 18/05/2019 19:18

@Leannej1986 I have had a struggle with all day nausea since week 6 and started being sick at week 10. Have felt it starting to gradually ease off this week with some days being a bit better. Don't know how people who have hyperemesis gravidium cope because this has been bad enough!

Croissantintheoven · 18/05/2019 19:21

Hi all,

I am only 8 weeks (due jan 04) so I am behind most of you. My midwife here in Paris did an 8 week scan for us as he likes to do that and we got to hear the heartbeat, which really helped with my anxiety as I have little family and no parent friends here. Hoping to learn from and share experiences with you. Smile Kerry

lostlobster · 18/05/2019 19:25

@Lumosknox I had HG and it was without a doubt the worst thing I’ve ever been through, I spent my days crying. This little one better be worth it!

Lumosknox · 18/05/2019 19:31

@lostlobster I take my hat off to you because on some of my worst days the only thing that got me through was being thankful that it wasn't HG. It's weird how women experience it so differently to each other! A lady at my work was saying she never felt sick at all with any of her 4 children including her twins!

lostlobster · 18/05/2019 19:45

@Lumosknox my mum was only sick once with me and that’s because my dad ate an Indian takeaway and the smell made her sick. I always thought I’d never be sick and then I got HG!. It’s getting better now.

We painted the nursery today, will add some shelves and the cot and then it’s all done. We’re having a bit of a name wobble as wellSad

CaptainSparklez · 18/05/2019 21:29

@JadaMaria my DH has been to the dating scan, 12 week scan and 16 week appointment but didn't come to the booking in appointment due to work. I did see a couple of other dads there. Mine was very straightforward just answering medical and family history questions and working out whether I'm considered high or low risk pregnancy.

@Kathryn19 and @64632K* it was a shock, but the best surprise ever. I still can't get over how lucky I am as I'd really convinced myself that it would be near impossible.

@lostlobster Hi Smile, I'm really looking forward to being able to decorate the nursery! What colour/theme did you decide on ?? Love the name Joshua (but also like Josh)

My bump is only just starting to poke forward @Daffodil2491, I'll be 18 weeks on Monday.
We'd actually just had the conversation that we'd wait till next January to start trying properly and it must've been that week that it happened. It seems like the moment you decide you're not trying or you think you've made a plan nature is like 'haha, that's what you think'. DH kept quoting Jurassic Park "Life finds a way".
How was the show btw ??

*@64632K** glad to hear everything went well yesterday!

Hi @Leannej1986, I was exactly the same until week 14 then thankfully the nausea and headaches went and I got some energy back. Fingers crossed your symptoms don't last too much longer.

Kathryn19 · 18/05/2019 22:19

Welcome all the new mummies to be! Congratulations - so glad to hear such nice news about test results and scans.

@Croissantintheoven you are due on my birthday Grin

It is funny I always think of myself as just pregnant, until I realise people are due next year already and it hits me that I am now 6 months!!! This year has been speeding past...
