I banned all shopping until the 20 week scan, but only because I have limited space being with my mum and if they'd been allowed both she and the paternal grandmother would have gone crazy with it! Having to wait meant they had both calmed down a bit and are more sensible lol. I don't think it's unlucky, what happens is out of our hands either way. 💛

Kathryn19 · 04/05/2019 08:29

I think it is personal preference, and just do whatever you feel comfortable with. We also haven't bought much and only really started at about 20 weeks because of space issues - we are living in a rented flat with a small second bedroom that is currently half full of the second hand pram we got!

Daffodil2491 · 04/05/2019 09:25

@Kathryn19 I know right! Does the peeing continue to get worse? I can only think it does as bump gets bigger but am already up about 3 times most nights! Body’s way of preparing us for the sleepless nights maybe 😅 lol. Feel you with the blocked nose too, really frustrating when there’s not much you can do about it! Oh well little miracles are growing and they will be worth it right? Doesn’t mean growing a small human is easy though!
Hi @Unsureursula, glad you’re starting to feel more normal, hope it carries on!
Hope everyone’s ok, and able to enjoy bank holiday weekend, i’m Off to a friends wedding on Monday which will be lovely but am worrying about how late to stay as I don’t want to be too shattered for work on Tuesday! Don’t want to upset anyone by leaving early! Take care everyone x

Kathryn19 · 04/05/2019 09:35

@Daffodil4291 definitely not easy! I actually did just have a good week for it as she had moved up a little higher. Overall I think once the uterus had really popped up over the pelvis, but while she still has a far amount of room to wiggle, it has been more hit and miss depending on where she chooses to be at the time. Sometimes she does full on attack my bladder though 🤣

My paranoia definitely keeps changing as well. I've gone from being super stressed about the baby herself to being anxious about a different practicality every day... today is turning out to be stressing about all the bedding options!!! Think worrying is one pregnancy side effect that won't go away once baby is here though....

Daffodil2491 · 04/05/2019 09:46

@Kathryn19 thanks for the info, can’t wait for more movement, am sure I’ve had fluttering and a few rolling over type sensations but not 100% convinced yet. Also yes to the stress and worry and no I don’t think it will go either, a while ago I had a big stress about visitors at home after he/she makes an appearance, and I’m not half way through yet! Was trying to convince myself I was just being, daft, which I’m sure I am now but at the time I was stressing!
What bedding are you looking at?

Kathryn19 · 04/05/2019 10:04

Ah that's really exciting! @Daffodil2491 I remember I found it so hard to tell the difference between the flutters and my stomach moving! Then it was like muscle spasms.. now there is no mistaking the big alien like kicks, punches and rolls!!
I feel you on the visitor stress completely... had that very conversation with my husband a week or so ago in fact! Better to check we agree earlier rather than later I figure, before in laws etc start asking him.
Been looking into all the grobag options vs normal cellular blankets (did not know what cellular blanket meant, ngl...). Was debating bag v blankets and then what togs you need. Now leaning towards a two in one grobag and several simple blankets 😊
Are you finding the second trimester so far better than your first?

sav93 · 04/05/2019 10:13

25 weeks with my first! Due August 14th 💜

sav93 · 04/05/2019 10:16

Google is dangerous just talk to ur drs if u have questions don't go to google ever lol

Daffodil2491 · 04/05/2019 10:20

Glad it’s not just me @Kathryn19 stressing about visitors afterwards, it’s not that I don’t want them, and I’m sure when the time comes everyone will be great but my partner has 3 siblings and if they and his parents all descend at once I’m not sure i’ll Cope especially as I want to try and breastfeed and don’t really want an audience early on before I know what I’m doing!
Can’t wait for kicks, he is looking forwards to being able to feel it too! Don’t think it was quite real for him until he saw baby moving like a little tinker on the scan lol.
I think cellular blankets are the soft ones you can get with small holes in for air flow and like soft silky fabric around the edges, only know because mum still has some from when I was little lol. Just a normal square/rectangular shape but supposed to be better for air flow, haven’t looked at gro bags yet and also need to figure out the tog etc for the time of year baby arrives, will probably get some swaddle blankets for when baby’s really small, I love the look of the Chicco Next to me crib with the drop down side, want to try breastfeeding so want baby close so getting up to feed is easier. Am sure we will figure it out as we go along like everyone does, no right and wrong just go with your gut 😊
I’ve been very lucky so far re symptoms etc (cue everyone hating me 🙈) but I haven’t really been very sick on and off a few times but not many but when I did have it it was bad for 24hrs like a bug. Yes I feel better still got sore boobs which are still growing lol and got a bit more energy some days we’ll see lol, it’s different for everyone right?

Babycakes1989 · 04/05/2019 10:22

20 weeks with my first, Due 22/09/19. Found out I was expecting a little boy yesterday 🤰🏽🧸💙 Hubby sat there with tears in his eyes, I struggled to work out which bits were which on the scan so just agreed but saying oh yes every time 😂 congratulations to you all 🤪 let the fun begin xx

sal1987 · 04/05/2019 10:25

Hi, I'm 16 weeks today and due 19th October. I do already have a bump that definitely gets bigger as the day goes on. I can wear my work dresses but already on maternity leggings and jeans. Boohoo have a bank holiday sale on and there are a lot of maternity wear for anyone interested!!
I seem to be an anxious mum to be and can't fully get excited about it, might be as well because I have felt rubbish pretty much the whole time and the tiredness doesn't seem to be getting any easier! I don't want to wish my life and pregnancy away but do wish the weeks would go a little bit quicker!!

Daffodil2491 · 04/05/2019 10:36

Hi @sal1987, your dates are exactly the same as Mine! And the bump situation lol definitely gets bigger during the day and also already in mat leggings. Congratulations and all the best! Hope you feel more normal soon! Also wishing the weeks would go quicker x

Sessy19 · 04/05/2019 11:05

Hello everyone, I’m a first timer too, can I join??
I’m 13+2 today, due (probably) about 8-9 Nov, but got my dating scan on weds so confirmed then.
Had a pretty shitty time of it so far, heartburn, nausea and sickness since BEFORE BFP. But possibly turning a corner today as I was able to stomach broccoli last night which is literally the FIRST vegetable I’ve been able to hold down since the beginning of March!
I’ve been massively surprised by how ‘into’ other peoples’ pregnancies I’ve been, getting soooo excited about sexing scans and knitting! 😁
I know quite a few people irl who are also expecting this year so wondering if there’s been a bit of a boom as a result of BREXIT bullshit 🤷‍♀️😊

Babylentil · 04/05/2019 11:29

Morning all! I love reading through everyone's experiences thank you for sharing!! My hips are the bane of my life at the moment, always aching never any relief haha.

@Sessy19 I only had sickness for about a month then immediately my appetite went mad and I'm hungry every hour! Im glad yours is easing off, it's the worst isn't it!

@Kathryn19 I feel as though I'm getting flutters sometimes but i think mine Is just my stomach or something, Ican't wait to feel baby moving! With my bump being so small and my symptoms lessening I'm so looking forward to those kicks!

@BobbySD345 my boyfriend picked up an adorable little sleep suit yesterday and I almost cried at how small it was 😂 but I'm not buying until 20 weeks either, though it will be very hard to stop the other half! Haha

OP posts:
Sessy19 · 04/05/2019 14:22

We’ve sort of decided to not buy anything until we get to the point where we can guesstimate whether we’ll be having a giant baby...we were both over 10lbs ourselves, so chances are we could have a biggun that wouldn’t fit into newborn clothes etc. But there is LOTS to look at and hanker after, for sure xx

BobbySD345 · 04/05/2019 17:38

@Sessy19 thats a good idea! My friend had so many nice things her chunky monkey couldn't wear ! So tempting though isn't it.

We are going to do a private scan at 15 weeks to try and find out the sex. I'm so impatient!!

sal1987 · 04/05/2019 18:18

@Daffodil2491 ahhh it's so nice to have a due date buddy, although as much as I said I want the weeks to go quickly, but I haven't thought about the birth yet......currently in denial about that part!!
We are not finding out the gender, leaving it as a surprise. I am also reluctant to buy anything before the 20 week scan although I know both sets of GP's have both bought things in secret!!

MrsC87 · 04/05/2019 19:06

Hey ladies I know I am further on than you guys but can I join? I'm 29+4 with my first baby, a boy 💙
Just been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, and I am now on medication. Having to tear blood sugars 4 times a day 🙄 but all for my boy! Here for any questions about 2nd and 3rd Trimester 😘
Congrats all 🥰

Daffodil2491 · 04/05/2019 19:18

@sal1987 not thought about the birth either looking forwards to 16 week appointment on Tuesday and then the 20 week scan, step by step lol.
Also not buying until 20 week scan although I cheated and bought one outfit the day of my 12 week scan because I wanted to mark the day and both mother and mil are knitting already which is lovely and I knit too, have knitted for friends for years, surreal to be knitting for a little person that’s growing inside me lol.
Hi @MrsC87 am sure I’ve seen you name on other threads (long time lurker lol) congratulations! Poor you with the medication! Hope things go as smoothly as they can, someone from work had the same and now has a lovely little girl, the things we go through for them! Take care of yourself x

Kathryn19 · 04/05/2019 21:18

@Daffodil2491 Yes I'm just a little worried about overexcited people, and too many trying to stay in our house when I'm feeling rough! Sure it'll all be okay though :) and glad everyone is excited anyway...
Will stock up on those blankets! I liked the idea of the of two in one as it can be 1 tog or 2.5 but will definitely keep exploring. Also want baby with us, but the bedroom on our new house has space for the cot by the bed so think I will just do that.
I'm really glad to hear you are feeling well so far! Definitely true pregnancy seems to vary massively

@Sessy19 so glad to hear you are beginning to feel better - I think 13-15 weeks was when my sickness gradually faded. Also yes on the baby size!! So difficult to get clothes to cover all the possible sizes!

@Babylentil sure it won't be too much longer :) it is amazing!

@MrsC87 nice to virtually meet you! Sounds like you're doing great by your baby boy.

rosie1998 · 04/05/2019 22:28

I'm 14 weeks and 5 days ... Congrats on your pregnancy 🤰👶

BobbySD345 · 05/05/2019 08:00

@Sessy19 I had some peas on Thursday night with my dinner and my hubby did a celebratory dance 🤣 veg is such a no go for me at the moment. I'm trying to eat fruit and sticks of cucumber at lunch to compensate because it's past around 3pm I start to feel most queasy.

crazycatlady7 · 05/05/2019 08:15

Hi, I'm 15+1 with my first baby. We don't want to know the gender, but would both love a girl. I've had awful nausea the whole time and just want to sleep- hoping it comes to an end soon!

I'm also turning into super protective mum, and my mother keeps telling me I have to share!

This is also the first grandchild for both sides so we have excited mum's and SIL. Already upset SIL as I won't let her spend Christmas with baby or allow her to take it for the day until I'm ready.

CaramelCluster · 05/05/2019 09:39

Hey guys, mind if I join? I will be a first time Mumma all being well, currently 16 weeks and due October 18th.

My Parents are already grandparents from my older brother but for my partner's parents this will be their first grandchild so they're really excited. Talking about buggies and equipment and sleeping etc already so a little overwhelming. Just want to get to that 20w scan then I will start feeling a bit more at ease about everything.

Hope everyone is doing well in here, little bumps starting to show and starting to all feel a bit more real each day! 😄

Daffodil2491 · 06/05/2019 08:42

Hi @crazycatlady7 congratulations, hope you’re nausea gets better soon! We’re not finding out what we’re Having either. I don’t think you have to share till you’re ready it’s your baby not anyone else’s. know where you’re coming from with SIL have upset mine just by being pregnant so have given up as I can’t win anyway, and am hoping thinks will work out when little one is here, hope things work out with yours in time too, but don’t be pushed into anything, your baby your rules hun x

Hey @CaramelCluster, your due the day before me and @sal1978. Congratulations! First grandchild here on both sides everyone is very excited, that in itself is lovely but can be overwhelming lol, also can’t wait for 20 weeks scan to relax a bit more really hope the next few weeks fly by! Definitely feeling more real by the day lol x
