@Kathryn19 hugs, well don’t (easier said than done I know) but hun you’re growing a tiny human and that’s hard work! So glad everyone is being great it makes such a difference, but seriously pregnancy isn’t easy so be kind to yourself too! X

Kathryn19 · 14/05/2019 22:09

@Daffodil4291 thank you, it's so nice to hear some reassurance from others experiencing it Smile

CaptainSparklez · 15/05/2019 14:31

Appointment went really well. Got to hear the heartbeat again, albeit faintly as the little jellybean was hiding really far back. Can't wait for the 20 week scan now! It's going to be a long 3 weeks.

@Daffodil4291 I've finally booked the tickets for Sunday, DH even 'treated' me to the Made for Mums Goodybag and express parking (although I think the parking is more for him in case he has to carry stuff back to the car Grin). Hope you find lots of lovely bits on Saturday!

@Kathryn19 sending hugs as well. Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow but for now just relax and stick your feet up, you've more than earned it!

64632K · 16/05/2019 13:16

Hope this isn't too probing a question but how much weight have you put on? Since my last weigh in at weel 12, now am 19+6 I have lost half a kilo, is this normal?

Kathryn19 · 16/05/2019 13:39

@64632K I don't really know but everything I read suggests there isn't really a one size fits all, and health is the most important thing. It will definitely vary according to starting weight, fluid gain, sickness etc I guess?

I'd say you probably don't have the most common weight experience.. But if no one you've seen is concerned and the scans etc are fine I wouldn't worry!

I'm 25+6 and last time I checked I'd put on around 6 or 7kg, which is the upper end of what they give as the recommended gain (and at least of that as first trimester if I'm honest...). But I'm keeping active so not too concerned about losing it later Smile

JadaMarie · 16/05/2019 14:06

I would love to know what others experiences have been like. I am only 5 weeks 2 days and only found out a couple of days ago! Have no knowledge and dont know what to expect! So a little worried about it!

64632K · 16/05/2019 14:37

Welcome JadaMarie, we found out we were expecting after out 2ww after a frozen embryo transfer. We were booked into scans pretty quickly and had scans at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks. They also confirmed gestational diabetes at the 6 week appt as it was with a midwifr also. Had my booking appt pretty soon after. I have midwife appts and obstetrician appts pretty much fortnightly which can be a bit draining. Personally I suffered from 24/7 nausea and extreme tiredness. I am now at the heartburn stage. Other than thay I have been generally ok, but others have their own experiences. I told my manager at week 6 as I knew we had lots of appts so he let me out for them all. Immediate family was told at 10 weeks by a drunken DH who couldnt contain his excitement, work colleagues told at 16 weeks.

@Kathryn19 thank you. Midwives have been more concerned about me than the little one, the last time we saw him/her was at week 12 which was almosy 8 weeks ago, next scan is next Friday. So we really don't know how he/she is developing right now

helpneededandadvice · 16/05/2019 15:01

Hi guys. I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant today. Found out on the 20th of December. Tested with a clear blue was postive with the 2-3 week and test number 2 3+. Me and my partner had a big fall out on the 14tj of December and on the 15th of December I slept with someone else. I don't remember my lmp because I didn't keep track as I was taking the pill half heartedly. Does this make the fling the father or my partner?

icklemissspy · 16/05/2019 16:08

Afternoon ladies,
First ever MN post!

Due 21st August, when no one else seems to be due near me. I'm part of a pregnancy yoga group but still not actually made any mum friends yet - guessing this will happen when little one actually appears and we go to groups?!?

@Kathryn19 nice to hear someone using reusable nappies - I'm still in the process of deciding whether too or not. Friends with kids have all said they were more hassle. Confused

I'm also still really nervous at getting anything for the babies arrival. Not sure whats holding me back... (other than not wanting to waste money).

@CaptainSparklez I'm organising my own baby shower (I'm a little bit control freak and like things quirky), so having a BaByQ reveal so us and family find out gender at same time. Blush

helpneededandadvice · 16/05/2019 16:10

@icklemissspy I'm due 22nd August🙂

icklemissspy · 16/05/2019 16:12

@helpneededandadvice yeahy! How have you been getting on?
When you taking your Mat leave?

I have mine planned from 8th Aug, but the tiredness I have been going through (currently waiting for iron levels test) make me want it earlier!

helpneededandadvice · 16/05/2019 16:15

@icklemissspy I've been out of work for a few weeks. Baby was really poorly. But looking better now. I'll be returning shortly. But as it's a family business I won't be making exact dates. How have you been so far

eharries · 16/05/2019 16:16

Hi everyone! Im 17 weeks tomorrow and still feeling absolutely rotten. The migraines, back ache, nausea doesn’t seem to be improving, anyone else having an awful time?

Kathryn19 · 16/05/2019 16:19

Hello @icklemissspy! I am due two days after you :) planning to date my mat leave my due date and annual leave the rest of that week, so finishing on the 16th. Want to save as much leave as possible for when baby is here.
I am going to give the reusables a go but haven't bought many in case it ends up being too difficult! And will definitely get disposables for the first bit of time.
I haven't made any friends yet either - hoping to at NCT or baby and bumps sessions, fingers crossed!!

icklemissspy · 16/05/2019 16:25

@Kathryn I was the same wanting to keep my Mat leave for the little ones so using up my holidays before hand so actual mat leave starts 19th.
I have lots of holiday to use as its been hard fitting it in this year and cant carry it over.

I cant decide whether to book NCT or just stick to NHS antenatal - I keep asking midwifes but they keep saying its too soon. I like these things planned!

Daffodil2491 · 16/05/2019 19:29

@64632K hey hun not an expert but everyone is different, a girl I know who’s not long had her baby lost weight throughout her pregnancy but without being rude she had a little to spare. I haven’t put any on and I’m 17+6, everyone is different, if you’re really worried ask your midwife or gp hun but as long as bump is growing and you are ok I wouldn’t stress but worth checking things out for reassurance sake.

@CaptainSparklez so glad your appointment went well! Can’t wait for my scan either! Mines booked for the 3rd June. thanks for the heads up about the parking! Didn’t know you could book that too! Unfortunately all express Parkin sold out but think we will use the Emma’s diary drop off/pick up if we buy anything big and go and get it in the car lol, not anticipating buying anything big but some things have such good show offers on it’s going to be hard not to!

@Kathryn19 hey hun how’s things? Sending hugs and hope you’re ok x

Kathryn19 · 16/05/2019 19:39

Thank you @Daffodil2491! My blood pressure has dropped quite a lot which explains a lot of my fainting episodes. Still could be anaemia but she was happy to wait for 28 week appointment as she thinks blood pressure has a lot to answer for.
I also raised the midwife's referral to a consultant re ectopic heartbeat. Doctor thinks I probably don't need to see anyone (I agree as previous blood tests cleared me of anything sinister) but wants me to redo the ECG there as they don't have my records on it and just want to be aware of what's going on ahead of labour. So more appointments to come!
On the plus side, baby heartbeat was great again. She let us listen for a good amount of time then starting squirming and kicking away! Her movements are getting so strong these days.

Kathryn19 · 16/05/2019 20:08

@icklemissspy that makes sense. I am very lucky with my holidays - I can use it at the end or roll it all over to next year, even if that takes me over what our "maximum" days is meant to be. I only need to have taken 10 days before mat leave starts. So glad I had moved jobs before I got pregnant, because they are great at all this sort of stuff!

Daffodil2491 · 16/05/2019 20:11

Hello all new posters! Missed your posts because mumsnet didn’t refresh properly and show them! Hope everyone is ok! Sending hugs to those having a hard time.

@Kathryn19 so glad you’re ok, heartbeat sounds amazing! Glad they are checking things out and you’re feeling more reassured! Appointments are a pain but as long as you’re both ok at the end of it it’ll be worth it right?

@helpneededandadvice you can have sex and 5 days later have a positive 2-3 weeks test that’s not possible hun hence the 2 week wait before positive test, you were more than likely already pregnant. Hope it all works out.

@eharries sorry you’re having a rotten time hun, I’m 17+6 and get very tired and sore joints, I have hypermobility so my joints are too flexible, can cause pain, but have been told it can make labour faster so i’ll Take that lol. Hate me if you like but been so lucky on the sickness front so far, keeping my fingers crossed it stays like that! Take care of yourself.

@64632K just read your later post about gestational diabetes, missed it earlier, the girl I knew who had her little one also had that and lost weight, maybe it’s to do with that? Maybe you’re more likely to lose weight because of it? Don’t know but she did.

Kathryn19 · 16/05/2019 20:44

@Daffodil2491 most definitely! I am also in the hypermobile joint club - hope your pain isn't too bad, and touch wood the sickness stays away :)

@64632K yes that's a good point on the GD - have you changed your diet to manage it? That could cause weight loss. My August fb group has people who initially lost, people who maintained and people who've gained varying amounts so definitely no one size fits all. Good that they aren't concerned about baby and that your scan is soon :) just look after yourself as well!

64632K · 16/05/2019 21:15

Thanks @Kathryn19 and @Daffodil2491
I know no ones experience is the same, I guess that's what makes it soo flipping difficult. They gave me insulin for the GD but tbh I haven't been taking it as my levels are ok without it. I tried to tell them this early on and they treated me like I was an awful being who didn't care about my child, hate the clinics as they are really depressing and no matter what you say you are eating, they always frown at you, told them to do one at one point.
Hope everyone is doing well and hope all the nausea, vomitting headached etc subside soon

Daffodil2491 · 16/05/2019 21:17

@helpneededandadvice that’s supposed to say CAN’T have sorry! Typo!

Daffodil2491 · 16/05/2019 21:29

@Kathryn19 it’s nice to know someone else with hypermobility how have you found it? I’m ok (touch wood) bit of pain in my pelvis but have had physio before and just kept on top of the exercises, not sure I’m going to manage some of them with a big bump though lol!

Kathryn19 · 16/05/2019 21:43

Sorry to hear you that @64632K.. I've been lucky to not have to go in often. So have nothing helpful to add but to send good vibes and say I hope it all goes okay.

@Daffodil4291 I was generally fine until a few weeks ago, just my normal levels of joint pain (predominantly ankles, knees, wrists and fingers). I will say as I've gotten a bit bigger over the last couple of weeks my back, hips and leg joints have been noticably sorer. But joint pain can also be iron related, and timing has coincided with other symptons, so can't 100% pinpoint. How severe is yours? Mine is on the mild end... physio said I was borderline hypermobility syndrome as was one joint off the official standard. And only overextend a moderate amount, have just exacerbated pain with the sports and exercise I've chosen throughout life! (Sorry that got long!)
