greedygreedyguzzler · 29/08/2007 18:19

i THINK i have added some pics to my profile! maybe not though, cos i had problems last time i tried to do it!!! nothing to do with the baby though!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 29/08/2007 18:28

wow! i did it!

Girlycm · 29/08/2007 18:32

Hi can I join I had two positives test yesterday. still in a dazz. :0

fettleandminifettle · 29/08/2007 18:58

Welcome Girly - all new TTC graduates made very welcome here!!

Greedy - I must try and get my photos uploaded. Feel left out that you can all do it, but I can't!!!. You should be very proud of your decorating - very impressive - particularly the bunting!!! It is exactly how I imagined it, but never seen it outside of a fairground, but looks good!

Well girls (sorry Girly!!), I'm officially fed up with being pg! I was in being induced with DD around about now and the thought of going another 4 weeks, is just so depressing. My feet are enormous, my pelvis is agony, even when sitting down now and I'm shattered - sorry Greedy, but I'm so looking forward to Friday evening and finishing work! Blimey - I sound depressed. Just need a good night's sleep - {that will be in about 3 years time then!!!}.

Scorpio - great to hear from you. Glad all going well - hope it continues to do so.

Rainbow - sorry, but happy to hear you sounding so sick!! Look after yourself and remember to try and eat something when you can. i think I lived off crisps and toast when pg with DD, as I was so sick the first few weeks.

Mrs - I'm starting to get a bit concerned about the place you work. Fighting in the workplace is so unprofessional. I know I don't really know you, but I'm sure you don't deserve to work somewhere like that and could easily work elsewhere. but then hopefully the Spain plan will work out and we'll all be queuing up to come visit you there next summer!!!

Chooster - need lots more little cute boy moments!! Starting to get really really excited about meeting my little boy, which is a good thing!!.

Bodkin Mermaid - how you doing? Hope your little girls are both behaving themselves. DD has calmed down a bit on her sleeping front but still really wants me at night - last night, she told DH to go away as she didn't want him. we have spoken that once the baby comes, she'll have to have Daddy at night, as i'll be busy with the baby, but we need to work on the next 4 weeks, as I need some sleep.

Oky-dokey - better go and concentrate on my darling DD - we almost managed to get her straight to bed from sleep in the car, but she woke up wanting supper, which I can understand!!

take care all

xxxx

Bodkin · 29/08/2007 21:11

Hi all. Was just going to post at how chuffed I am to have both girls in bed at the same time, but already I can hear Isla squeaking. grrrr. It's not getting her to sleep that is the problem, it is getting her to stay asleep! Oh, good, its gone quiet again. I can't really complain, because although she is hard work in the evenings, when she does finally crash out (anywhere between 11.30 and 1am) she is gone for the night, until at least 7am, which is of course very civilised, but it would be nice to have some child-free time of an evening! I think she does what is called Cluster Feeding, where basically she feeds all evening to store in her little tank so she can get a good long kip in. I know that they grow out of that eventually, so keep putting her to bed in the evening in the hope that soon she will stay asleep and leave my knockers in peace! She seemed pretty crashed out when I put her up there after her last feed (8pm) so maybe tonight's the night.....

Fettle - sorry to hear you are suffering so badly - will keep my fingers crossed that your DD sleeps like an angel for you tonight! When your maternity leave starts, will you be able to have a bit of a lie-in in the mornings while your DH does breakfast with your DD? That's what we did towards the end of my pg and it was a life-saver Don't worry too much about your DDs attachment to you at the moment - mine seems to have gotten over it more or less, and is quite happy for DP to do most of the bedtime routine now, and I just go in to do a quick story and a rubbish made-up song (which she loves!) 2 more days left and then you can be a lady of leisure (for a few weeks anyway)

Greedy - I've not looked at your pics yet, but will once I've finished this post and will pass comment then I really really like both Lottie and Iris, if my twopenceworth counts!

No, tonight is clearly not the night. She's up again! She's been asleep for about 18 minutes! will have to finish this later...

Bodkin · 29/08/2007 21:28

Well, by the time I had posted the message and walked towards the door, she'd stopped... so will carry on!

Greedy, just looked at your pics - the rooms look great! Did you paint the dinosaurs/butterflies yourself - they're fab!

Mrs - I like Fettle's idea of us all coming out to visit you in Spain - can you make sure you get somewhere with a pool
I think I might be with your DH on the Hawaiian Chief name!

Hi Girly - welcome aboard!

Chooster - sorry to hear about your mum, that sounds really scary for her.
Glad you've had some help over the last couple of days, it's a juggling act sometimes isn't it! So you're over the thrush at the mo - that's great. I keep getting a stinging pain deep in my right boob when feeding (on either side) so think it might be a blocked milk duct. Better keep an eye on that methinks.... anyone know anything about those?

Firsty - how are you getting on? How have your DSDs taken to little Ty - do you manage to get a look-in at all or are they all over him

Honey - hope you've had a yodeltastic time in Austria - can you get maternity lederhosen?

Scorpio, Seaside, Rainbow, Iwillbe - sorry to not be able to post more to you guys, but I am struggling to keep up with where everyone is at!

Well, my little munchkin is still quiet, so that is wonderful. She'll probably sleep until I want to go to bed and then be up every 2 hours through the night now. That'll teach me for moaning!

honeyapple · 30/08/2007 11:00

Hi all you lovely ladies,

Yodel-eh-ee-hoo!! Austria was great, had a really chilled out time just hanging out, going for coffee, eating apfelstrudel, leisurely walking in the mountains.... and shopping! Bought a buggy! It's a TFK Buggster... anyone seen any in UK? It's like a zapp except bigger and reclines and has a proper shopping bag bit underneath. (So not really like a zapp then!) Also can put car seat on the chassis which will be good for the school run.
Bodders- unfortunately I didnt come across any maternity laderhosen!

Have to have a look at all the new pics that have been posted...

Only a week till school starts...

honeyapple · 30/08/2007 11:10

Wanted to tell you all about my neighbour over the road who had her baby a few days ago... unintentionally a home birth on the bathroom floor! Apparently her DH was ringing the hospital to let them know she was in labour and she was screaming she needed to push! All happened in a couple of hours if that...

MrsMcJnr · 30/08/2007 12:15

Scorpio ? saw BobbyDazzler?s news ? lovely!

Greedy ? Delphi is unusual I see that it refers to an archaeological site and a modern town in Greece on the south-western spur of Mount Parnassus in the valley of Phocis. Delphi was the site of the Delphic oracle, most important oracle in the classical Greek world, and it was a major site for the worship of the god Apollo. His sacred precinct in Delphi was a Panhellenic sanctuary, where every four years athletes from all over the Greek world competed in the Pythian Games ? a rare but noble name indeed As for Iris, funny that it also has a a Greek origin, and its meaning is "rainbow". A flower name. Mythology: Iris was a messenger-goddess who rode rainbows between heaven and earth to deliver messages from Olympus. Novelist Iris Murdoch. I wasn?t that keen on Iris before I read that mythological meaning, which I think is lovely Fabulous pics, the rooms look great! You have such lovely DCs

GirlyCM ? welcome and congratulations! tell us more about yourself ? is this your first? when do you think you are due?

Fettle ? one more sleep until mat leave I?m sure that will make a massive difference to how you feel unfortunately, the fighting and politics are typical of law firms here, never worked for one that wasn?t like this! lawyers generally are argumentative gits in my experience! As you say hopefully I?ll get to the end of my sentence, go on mat leave and that will be that, we?ll see all welcome to visit me in Spain ? what fun!

Bodders ? hope last night wasn?t too disturbed and you got some sleep! ok the Hawaiian name was maybe a little ? Hawaiian for a Scottish child! PMSL at the maternity lederhosen! Comfy I bet!

Honeyapple glad you had a lovely chilled time! Buggy sounds good, ticks some of my boxes of what I want I?d like a labour like your neighbour we have a tiled floor with thick pile bath mats, would be fine

Can?t remember if I told you yesterday but DH has a new job (still within the Bank Chooster ? Business Banking this time but a PM/analyst role) its back in town which he wants and a bit more money so he is feeling happy. He also wants to wear suits again rather than jeans and smarten up his image so we need to go shopping for him at the weekend ? counting this as the 1st of 3 good things! Next hope is to do with the scan next Tues and the third is to do with the house sale!

DD1ofcolandgerry · 30/08/2007 13:15

Hello everyone

I havent posted in such a long time, but I thought I'd let you know I had a lovely baby boy 22 days ago, he arrived 2 weeks early. All well, and enjoying motherhood. Good luck to everyone

dd1

MrsMcJnr · 30/08/2007 14:35

DD1 - that's fabulous news congratulations!! how are you? tell us plenty more when you get a chance!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/08/2007 16:46

bodders - yes i did paint the dinosaurs etc myself! that is what i have been spending hours doing every night! well, that and making up flat pack furniture! i dont think you can fully appreciate how fantastically skilled i am by looking at the photos either!
glad you like iris and lottie! do you think iris goes with ellis though? i thought it was a bit of a mouthful.......ellis, kiki and iris! what do you think? too many 'i's'??? too much stressing about names on my part? am i a complete loon? what do you reckon? as a fellow loon, i would appreciate your opinion!
i hope your night was better last night in the end! at least isla goes for a nice long chunk of sleep all at once so you can have a long spell too! you will get your evenings back soon, dont worry! see it as your bonding time with her wheilst dd1 isn't around!

mrs - i can tell you dont like delphi much, even though you put a smiley face after it !!! you said it was 'unusual'................thats like everyone telling me ds was a 'long' baby when he was born! no one ever said he was cute (prob cos he wasn't especially!) everyone just said "Hhhmmmm..... isn't he long!" very diplomatic!!! i have gone off the name today anyway!!! i knew iris meant rainbow and that is another reason i like it cos ds wanted baby to be called rainbow originally! he now wants it to be called diego if its a boy and dora if its a girl and so does dd! they like 'dora the explorer'.....what can i say?! glad to hear about your dh's new job and i am sure it really is the first out of 3!

hello and welcome girlycm - so what does the cm in your name stand for then? i know you have been on the ttc boards, so is it cervical mucus then?

honeyapple - welcome back! are you done for holidays now then or what?!!! i think you have had plenty young lady and you are just making me jealous with all your galavanting around! i wish i didnt have to work and then i could galavant a bit more!!! sounds a bit scarey for your neighbour! did her dh deliver the baby then? i am convinced that is what is going to happen to me this time......not sure why really but i just keep getting this feeling!!

hello dd1 - congrats! does he have a name?!!

well........i have been at work this afternoon.............Boo!..........and i had a new patient which is always a bit worrying at this stage of pregnancy!!! i was REALLY hoping for a svelte 7 stone woman with neck pain ( not so much lifting and hoiking around!)................but what did i get?............... a big fat 18 stone elephant with lower back pain!!! obviously she wasn't really an elephant, but she might as well of been!!! she said " how are you coping doing this job and being 8 months pg?" and i thought " its fine when i dont have big fat heffers like you coming in to see me!!!".......obviously i didn't say that though! i was as nice as anything to her as i am to all my patients!!! and my patient before her asked to see me again in 2 weeks time! why cant these people just take a couple of paracetamol and cope with the pain hey!!?? how inconsiderate are they!!!

honeyapple · 30/08/2007 19:22

Evening all

Greedy- I'm v impressed with your artistic skills... I hope those are anatomically correct dinosaurs though.... I think Iris is a lovely name, however I think you could have a point with the Ellis- Iris issue. I like Delphi too... don't think it's that unusual . I will get my baby name book out and have a hunt for you later.
And yes I am finished with my holidays... havent done too badly with amount this year, shame about the crap weather.(Austria was sunny though).

Do you ever say that maybe your clients have back ache cos they are carrying a bit too much weight? Or is this best avoided? When are you stopping work? Have you got some cover sorted yet?

Dunno full details of my lady over the road... I think that baby arrived before ambulance or midwife. Will update when I see her, she seems to be keeping a low profile at the moment which is jolly unfair for her nosy neighbours. She has called the baby Amelie BTW.

Hi to Girlycm... as in CM??

Congrats to DD1

Starting to feel more and more like a heffalump as the days go by. Looking forward to getting this LO out! Can't believe that Fettle and Greedy are going to be seeing their babies in a few weeks.

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/08/2007 19:54

you will be seeing your baby before you know it too honey! you are only a few weeks behind us! and YES! my dinosaurs are most definately anatomically correct, the apatosaurus, the T-rex and the pteradactyl!!

work is a bugger! i am still here now! got one more patient at 8pm and then i will be off home to stuff my face with butternut squash risotto! at least this next patient is a skinny malink!

half of one of my teeth has just chipped off too, so i am a bit pissed off! it feels horrible in my mouth and i cant stop fiddling with it! only went to the dentist 2 weeks ago too! i am in a dilema......... do i go to my nhs dentist and get it sorted for free even though he is apparently crap! or do i pay someone to do it? my clinic is in a dentists so i guess i should come here really but i know it will cost me over £100.....what do i do?

fettleandminifettle · 30/08/2007 20:05

Too many decisions for you Greedy at the moment!!. I've been a bit bad and haven't been to the dentist - I know I should go to an NHS one as it would be free, but my private one, is very good! Bit late now though as the private one is right next to work and it's my last day tomorrow. [Sorry Greedy]. As for names, I like Iris, but I agree with the Iris, Ellis discussion. There are many I's in your family! It is tricky names - we've chosen one, which we both like finally, bit more traditional I'm afraid, but it is the same as my boss' son, hope people don't think that's sad - it's not really our fault that she chose the name first and she is more of a friend anyway that my manager!

Hope your last appointment goes well - you should be pleased that you are obviously so good at your job that people want to come back and see you. Such a shame that you can't just get a locum in more easily.

Honey - glad you had a good time in Austria. Sounds lovely! I have to agree with Greedy though that you've had too many holidays, but then she went to St Lucia at the beginning of this pregnancy. I've been nowhere apart from skiing at Easter.

Mrs - great news about DH's job. I'm sure everything will be ok on Tuesday - you've got to remain positive.

I was so shocked at work today, but all my department got together to get me a card and present. I so wasn't expecting anything from them all, but the loveliest thing was that most of them as well as wishing me luck for the baby also said thank you for all my support over the last few weeks, which really made me feel appreciate. So that coupled with giving me my first blue clothing, resulted in floods of emotional tears (Very professional!!)!

Got a MW appointment in the morning with my new MW, so hopefully she'll be nice and then going in to work, although technically don't really have anything to do, but DD is booked to have her party at nursery, so I can't deny her that! Going to be an emotional day tomorrow I think!

Anyway, have to go get some food now.

Hugs to all

take care.
xxx

fettleandminifettle · 30/08/2007 21:39

Ok - I think after all evening trying that i have finally managed to upload some photos! Have to see if it has worked for you all now!

sleep well.
xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/08/2007 21:59

fettlepetal - have a fantastic last day at work tomorrow! i hope it is REALLY emotional and you cry loads for all the right reasons!! i like your pictures. she looks like she is having fun and looks much older.......is she 3 1/2? cant see her face properly though!!! i spent a while looking at everyone in the background trying to figure out which person was you and then i realised that you would be behind the camera!...DUR!!!

Chooster · 30/08/2007 22:09

Just popped on to say good luck for tomorrow fettle!! I was thinking of you in the wee hours of this morning when feeding Theo and thinking it was your last full day at work today! is that a bit wierd ?

Congratulations Girly - great to have a newcomer here hope you stick around. Looking forward to knowing a bit more about you.

Well done DD1 - that FAB news!!! Another we boy

God, I'm impressed with your artisti talents greedy? Did you stencil them or draw free hand? I'm total crap at drawing and you put me to shame as I've never done anything like that with DS1. I sometimes try doing painting and stuff with him but he's not really into it. Your DC's bedrooms look great though - are they still sleeping well? You are right, bloddy cheek of parients to keep coming to visit you when you are 8 months pregnant. Wouldn't it be much nicer if they just brought tea and biscuits to the appointment and had a chat instead? Still pay you of course

Am very Bodders of your 7 hour stint with a sleeping DD2. That must be great to get that amount of sleep, even if your evenings are a bit shot. Mind you, I can only say that because Theo is starting to go from 8pm or 9pm until about midnight / 1am but then needs to be fed every 2 or 3 hours after that. So I've got my evenings but not a great sleep. I know it'll all sort itself out for both of them

Mrsmc - Your work does sound a bit wild!! I bet you can't wait til mat leave starts... So is DH still working for the same part of the bank or is he moving over to my bit? I'm keeping everything crossed for you for next tuesday and those definately sound like kicks to me .

Welcome back Honeyapple!! Your holiday sounds great!... Lucky bugger!! . I'd love to get away for a bit - Centre parcs is our next trip in October which will be great but I'd love some sun.

All is well here although I think I can here Theo making some noises - hope he doesn't wake, although maybe then he'll sleep past 1am ?!?!? - by the way Honey, the hammock is still a great success. We've had a great afternoon / evening as we took both DS's to the waterfront once we'd picked DS1 up from nursery and DS1 rode for ages on his new 'big boy' bike. He was loving it and spends ages parking it in the garage - its so cute .

Best head off - see you later... by the way honey, how is your neighbour who broke his leg?

DH is just back from his 'kupso' class - its kind of a martial art thing. He's been showing me his moves and his salutation - very impressive .

Chooster · 30/08/2007 22:11

Wow, your DD does seem quite big and grown up Fettle. Great to see some picures... Have fun tomorrow and hope MW appt goes well.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 30/08/2007 23:02

Hi sorry I haven't been on AGAIN, hoping once DS's go back to school next week I'll have abit more time for ME (for MN ) but as it is I'm busy busy busy, Connie is now on 6oz of milk every 3-4 hours and sleeping a bit more now But she is a little fat sod, bless, DS's are all over her all day, they keep her entertained as she loves to be talked to and she's started smiling, . As for me still fighting my emotions at the moment feel very teary still, we went to Notts at the weekend and I almost burst into tears in the town center over what I'm not really sure. My mother came round at the weekend all was fine, we were very nice to one another she has even invited me to her wedding next may she ended up having my boys from Saturday dinner till Tuesday night which was nice but the longest I've ever been away from my boys, and guess what I'm still alive , My mother loves Connie to bits (And think she's looks just like me at this age) she knitted loads of stuff for her, which are beautiful, I've put my order in for more . I've put some more pic's on, anyway got to go and get ready for bed hoping to get a few good hours sleep tonight we'll see!

Hope everyone is fine and well, Babymadxx

OP posts:
fettleandminifettle · 31/08/2007 08:16

Babymad - glad all went well with your mother! Don't you worry about ignoring us, you've got your hands full at the moment!

I'm waiting until Fifi is finished before bundling DD into the car to go to the MW before our last day at work and nursery. feel really bad for her, as I kind of know I may be going back, but this is it for her! She's made them a lovely card and drawn them 2 pictures! She's very excited about her leaving party this afternoon. Think I better make sure I bring some tissues - I cried just writing my goodbye/thank you card to them!! They've looked after her for over 2 years and done a fantastic job of it too!!

anyway, sorry you can't see DD very clearly - I had to minimise the pictures so much to get them up-loaded. But you definitely aren't the only ones to say she looks so grown-up - I worry about it sometimes as she does look so much older than 3 yrs 5 months. People expect her to behave so much older than her little brain can - although I don't think she does too badly! Anyway, this is probably the subject of another thread somewhere!

Must go - don't want to be late and seem to remember that parking at the maternity hospital here is a nightmare!

speak later

Bodkin · 31/08/2007 10:56

hello everyone!

Quick post while DD is busy drawing - her new favourite activity... and she's getting really good! Will have to scan one of her pics on to upload...

Fettle - your DD looks quite the athlete! Excellent work on the egg and spoon! Have a good blub today! Exciting times ahead for all of you xx

Chooster - sorry, I know I shouldn't moan, but boy do I need the kip after all that feeding! She was awake from 6pm until 1am last night, with one 20 minute kip. The rest of the time she was on the boob I was like a deflated balloon by the end of the evening! I did try and just put her down and leave her to cry a few times, but she was not having any of it! Normally if she is really tired it takes about 1-2 minutes of frantic crying and then she goes sparko! She's making up for it now though - crashed out

Greedy - you must be absolutely shattered all this painting and lugging heffers about! You'll be glad of the rest when this baby comes I see your point about Iris... maybe Lottie goes better with the other names then. What I did in the end was type out all the possible names in a list (with surname) and then when she was born, crossed off any that didn't suit or looked odd when written down, and decided on Isla after a couple of days of mulling, so don't panic too much now!

Babymad - great pics. Glad to hear things went well with your mum and you had a bit of a break from the boys. If you need to have a good cry, let it out I always feel better after a really snotty blub!

Honeyapple - You do have interesting neighbours don't you! Are you there twitching the curtains all day long To be honest, my birth wasn't too far off that - i was saying "I need to push" as the midwives walked through the door!

MrsMc - hope this is a roll of good luck for you then - definitely well deserved!

Ok, better go and do somehting useful...

hello everyone!

nice to hear from you babymad! glad connie is doing so well bless her and really glad it all went so well with your mum!

firsty - have you tried massaging Ty's tummy for the colic? and/or bicycling his legs to make him squeeze all the wind out!? used to help my two!

bodders - your poor nips after last night! i do think you are amazing! that is EXACTLY the sort of thing that made me give up breast feeding with ds! i think you are really patient to carry on......i would definately have given up and given her a bottle by now! well done! and yes i am getting a bit knackered, especially today actually! feeling a bit sorry for myself as my back is killing me which is a bit ironic i guess! i blame my fat heffer from yesterday for that!

fettle - hope your last day and dd's last day are wonderful! i am VERY jealous! hope your midwife appt was ok tpoo. i had one today and it was CRAP!!! i felt really uncared for and neglected. my mw is on holiday in 2 wks time which is when i should see her again and said that she is fully booked up in clinic next week so i have to wait three weeks to see her! i will be almost 39 wks by then so i can thelp feeling a bit pushed to one side and neglected! i am sure it is cos my BP is fine and i am low risk but i would still like a bit more tlc! not getting it at home or from my mw!! poor old me hey!!??? ( ok, enough feeling sorry for myself!)

bugger! gotta go! electricity man is here! apparently our house is unsafe and the electric should be turned off............not sure what it all means really.............

greedygreedyguzzler · 31/08/2007 16:14

OOOOOOOooooooooooo! how exciting! Our house has been really unsafe for years apparently!!! the electric man is sending round some 'emergency superhero electricians' who are going to dig a big hole outside the front of our house( to add to our collection!) and sort it all out for us! he was surprised that we hadn't all been getting electric shocks every time we touched a tap! (think we might have done something about it if we had!!) anyway...............at least it has nbeen p[icked up and one good thing has come from our extension!!!

so, where was i? can#'t remember!/..............so have a great weekend all!!!
