@Squeakybubbles26 sorry I thought she was 1 😂. Oh that's good she sleeps through though!
Yeah I like mothercare too and did notice they come up quite big but they're a bit pricey! I really like next clothes but my god they're quite small. But I noticed so do Sainsbury's. Love Asda they're so cheap and nice quality too. The best that was up nice are M&S I think and I was surprised at how reasonably priced M&S were! Oh that's good you didn't have to wait long to fall pregnant. Does your LO still sleep a lot in the day?

Squeakybubbles26 · 14/08/2019 02:19

@FairyDust92 I know Mothercare can be a bit ££ as DD1 has got older i only get the smart stuff I like from there no playing in mud or eating spaghetti Bol in those outfits haha! However I don't mind so much no as DD2 will be wearing them :)
M&S is good to, I forgot about them! Aw the little dungarees you can dress your LO in soo cute! (If your a dungaree kinda girl some people despise them)! See I find next on the bigger size, but agree Sainsburys oh and Tesco actually are on the smaller size!
LOs sleep in the day in still pretty good, we're awake a lot more too. However with the sleep it's not very consistent, don't have a routine kind of thing and never know how long she'll sleep or when if you get me. How about yours?

FairyDust92 · 14/08/2019 05:19

@Squeakybubbles26 yeah he has a lot of dungarees except the dungarees from Sainsbury's don't have much give in them but probably because they're corduroy. Yeah definitely no playing in the mud 😂. Maybe my boy just has a big booty for next then 😂. Oh that's good. Yeah but he still sleeps a lot during the day didn't know if it was normal. We're getting into a routine but I'm not precious by it as things change on a daily basis 😂

Squeakybubbles26 · 14/08/2019 08:17

@FairyDust92 aw I love corduroy, the little trousers/dungarees you can get in them are adorable! Shame girls don't really pull it off. Actually DD1 has a few dresses made from them! Your LO likes his sleep, but that's good though as that's when they grow and develop isn't it? My LO has only just woken up :0 shame her sister was up at 6:15! Lol! I work so much better in a routine - I don't have to be regimental to it but like to have a bit of structure ha! Isn't it mad like 5/6 weeks ago our LO's weren't here and now it's the norm! How did you find adapting to life with a newborn? With my first I found it quite hard, everything took longer, I couldn't pop out in the evenings if I was just bored, the sleep deprivation cor it was a lot to adjust to! But with DD2 it's so much easier, like I know what to do (well I'm more relaxed about what I do haha)! x

FairyDust92 · 14/08/2019 09:02

@Squeakybubbles26 same corduroy is lovey. The little girls dresses and skirts in it are so nice!
I'm not sure tbh I just know he sleeps a lot atm. It's annoying when people are constantly like 'oh you wait that will change' because for me i feel like I'm just sometimes waiting for it to change then I think sod them they don't know my son and he might actually be as placid as he is now in 1 years time. It's just annoying and a drag 😒.
It seriously is crazy we were waiting for our babies 6 weeks ago (that feels so long ago now!)
Least you got a bit of a lie in I suppose, would be better if they both got up at that time though 😂. Oh same! I love a routine but same as you don't stick to it all the time I'd just be making a rod for my own back doing that.
Adapting to a newborn has been fine I feel atm tbh! stuff does take longer to do for sure but he's so placid he just goes with the flow. He's currently chilled out on my bed whilst I do my make up 🤷🏻‍♀️. Again though I feel like people put a lot of Ideas in your head about adapting to a newborn and they're not good ones. You just feel like saying not every baby is the bloody same 😂.
That's good that it was easier 2nd time round! It's good that your LO just slotted right into your routine aswell!
I reckon if I have 2nd I'd probably have a very screamy baby 😂. That'll shock me!

When you take your LO shopping does she sit in the baby bit on the trollies? My boy hates them and it's the only time he will make a fuss. I would put his car seat in the trolley if I'm only popping in but when I'm doing a big shop I don't as I don't like to leave him in his car seat for long. His car seat reclines but I just don't like it. Lucky my partner comes shopping with me so I can take the pushchair! Nightmare!

Squeakybubbles26 · 14/08/2019 19:35

@FairyDust92 every child is so different, ignore what people say because he'll do what he wants to do! There's been times I've just nodded and smiled at peoples opinions! My LO is quite clingy it feels, I struggle to get ready :( well if I put her down I don't get too long before she wants a cuddle or something! I'm going to have to start getting up at 6 just to get ready before long!
I bet your like what's everyone talking about this newborn malarkey is easy ;) I remembered when DD1 started sleeping through and a couple of baby friends weren't I didn't want to say anything as was worried they'd judge or be jealous etc! But all babies are so different!
DD1 is quite a well behaved and placid child (not bigging her up but she is) and I keep getting told DD2 will be a terror etc! This Irates me, like they are already judging LO before she can develop a personality and I god hope she's the same if not better than DD1 to prove everyone wrong!
With shopping and having the 2 of them my partner either does the shop or we go together and use a pushchair. Do you have a sling or a carrier you can use? I can understand about not wanting to keep him in the car seat for long, is the shop far away from you?x

FairyDust92 · 14/08/2019 23:20

@Squeakybubbles26 exactly! People just irritate me! Especially when they come to my house! I'm a very very clean/neat freak I always have been I can't help it and they comment on how spotless my house is followed by 'oh wait until he can crawl' okay? To me toys are a clean mess. Yes he can have them sprawled out across that floor that doesn't bother me as when he is in bed they'd go away... people act like he will smudge shit up the walls and put holes in my doors 🤦🏻‍♀️. Hahah if I let my partner shop we'd end up with microwave meals, lots of chocolate and fizzy drinks! He doesn't eat any sort of fruit or vegetable! I'm surprised he isn't fat don't know where he stores it all 😂. No definitely big up your daughter, why not?! You have a good girl I'd be screaming it from the roof tops... ☺️. She will get her own personality and probably end up like your other daughter so don't worry. I do have a carrier but I haven't used it in scared he will suffocate on me 😳.
Are you on mat leave at the moment? X

Squeakybubbles26 · 15/08/2019 00:07

@FairyDust92 I think a lot of it is down to jealousy and to be honest you'll do what your able to do! It's like people forget babies are so different, well children are too! Omg the toys, I feel like I'm always cleaning away DD1 stuff, if she finished with something I can't just stare at it I hate mess and clutter lol! However I will let her have her fun and then either encourage her to help me tidy it away (which 99% of the time she will) or put it away myself. I'm quite glad she's a neat freak when she tidies away as well, maybe mine and her fathers cleaning attitudes are wearing off on her oops! Sounds although people want your LO to be a little monkey 🐵 can't they let him develop a personality of his own?
I give my partner a detailed shopping list .. it's sooo funny when he brings back the wrong thing tho, like it's my fault haha! I wish I was like that and could consume what ever and not put a lb on :( I only have to look at cake I swear!
What carrier have you got? I honestly wouldn't worry you can help turn their heads they'll be ok :) your LO is that little but bigger now as well so that's good which means he may be higher up in it? Just watch out if it's a hot day tho, don't layer yourself or him up (just some advice because yesterday I was a sweaty mess in the boob department either from her dribble or god knows what lol)!
Are you still wearing maternity clothes or are you back in your old stuff? I hate it nothing fits me no more :( and my maternity bands are massive on me so everything feels either to baggy or way to small!
Yeh I'm on mat leave, not returning til July/aug next year. How about you?x

FairyDust92 · 15/08/2019 03:11

@Squeakybubbles26 haha I think it's good encouraging them to pick up their own toys. After all you didn't play with them did you 😂. I know people assume babies/toddlers are going to be awful. There still has to be boundaries.
Of course it's your fault if something is wrong on the list 😂.
I will not do home deliveries for this reason.
I'm not sure of the make as my sister gifted me it. I think when I'm brave enough I will try. Thanks for the tips! 😂.
Yes I am back in my clothes. Surely that should be a good excuse to get some new clothes? 😉

Oh thats good!
I am on mat leave and my 9 months will be up in April but if I want to take a year it'll be July. It's such a shame the mat pay is so shite :(.
A perfect job has just come up needing x3 of us, typical 🤦🏻‍♀️ I doubt I will return to my company though they offer such rubbish pay considering at other companies I can get £12-£20 PH doing the same thing 🤨 x

Squeakybubbles26 · 15/08/2019 03:42

@FairyDust92 cor tonight has been one of those nights! On LO's 2nd feed already and she's struggling to poo 😴!
Aw I don't want to buy bigger clothes when hopefully I can loose a bit of weight and get back in my older ones, it's just me having to be good and loose it tho 😩😂 the chore! We've got a family holiday coming up later this year so want to loose weight for then - that's my plan anyways!

I know mat leave pay is shocking, I find it hard being off in the week and not wanting to spend much if anything so I have more for the weekend when we do stuff as a family! I just think il never doing this again so will scrap though and cherish the time :)

Ah no way that's a shame about the job opportunity, but hopefully in the future you'll be able to find another job with better prospects!

What's your childcare arrangements when you go back? X

FairyDust92 · 15/08/2019 04:50

@Squeakybubbles26 oh bless her! Is her wind any better now? She must be hungry tonight 😂.
My LO just woke for a feed also. Currently staring at me wide eyed in his crib 🤦🏻‍♀️.
That's fair enough! At least you have something to work towards 🙂.
Yeah you have to cherish every moment it goes so quick 😫!!
He will have to go to nursery 😭😭😭
It'd be better if my partner had a job with better pay would mean I wouldn't have to go back so soon.
What are you plans for childcare? x

Squeakybubbles26 · 15/08/2019 18:56

@FairyDust92 her wind is loads better, thanks for asking! She does have the odd moment but I think that's when she over eats or I over feed maybe 🙄 I honestly don't think the infacol and gripe water helped if anything looking at it now made it worse? Even tho at the time seemed to be helping!

I hate that in the night when they are wide awake and your like ah I wanna sleep! Least with babies they usually settle soon after! Hoping for a better night tonight with regards to sleep!

LO will go to nursery to, I actually work in a childcare setting so feel a bit more relaxed about it! And DD1 has been in nursery since 11 months old and she loves it! Has he got a nursery place already?

FairyDust92 · 15/08/2019 19:40

@Squeakybubbles26 oh that's good to hear! It probably didn't tbh! I'll cross my fingers for you for a better night sleep 😂.
My LO was awake a lot today with short naps maybe 15-20mins then really alert. It was quite nice actually. He fell into a deeper creep at about 3pm after his feed. At about 5 I must have nodded off for about 2 minutes and woke up to him just staring at me, dummy on the floor and he let out a scream just so I knew he was awake. How dare I nod off! 😂 he literally fell back to sleep after that! His screams are so funny because they are screams as if someone just screams for no reason 😂.
Oh I bet that feels better for sure! Do you know if nursery's are trained in CPR and basic first aid? And with choking? That information is important to me. I'm taught all this at my work.
I am a dental nurse so kind of work with kids playing up at the dentist and screaming blue murder at a check up 🙄

Squeakybubbles26 · 15/08/2019 21:47

@FairyDust92 thank you, let's hope she plays ball haha! 😴

Aw I bet that was nice, I do enjoy the wake periods when I can encourage tummy time etc! Her sister enjoys it to, she tries to play with her and praises her for the littlest of things which is so cute! However today LO has been so clingy...struggled to put her down! I was literally wearing the baby carrier around the house this morning just so I could do jobs and get out the house haha!

Haha that's classic! How dare you mummy sleep! They've already got us wrapped around their little fingers!

There should be nursery staff trained on the premises at all times. Some settings may only have to have a few on site others may have all of them, depends on their policy maybe? Our site everyone is trained. Have you visited the potential nursery or nurseries? All the Q's definitely double check with them, to reassure yourself! Also not being one of those annoying people, if you haven't booked LO into a nursery yet I would if I was you. Places for babies book up very quickly, especially if it's a desired nursery! Always check the ofsted report to!

I bet you see it all! Talk about dentist DD1 has a check up in a couple of weeks and I bet she'll either be the one screaming or def not letting the dentist check her teeth! Even though she tells me peppa pig does show the dentist her teeth every time haha 😂🙄

FairyDust92 · 15/08/2019 22:25

@Squeakybubbles26 oh no you had one of them days. Soon she'll be crawling and you'll find it hard to pin her down 😂. No I haven't looked at nursery's yet will look around September time. Although not many are desirable here 🙄. Thanks for the heads up though. I wish I could stay at home with him, I don't want him to go to nursery so young 😔.
I can handle a 3 year old screaming at the dentist but when they're about 12 it's a bit 😬. You know that peppa pig episode has done wonders for the kids! I hear loads of parents referencing that episode and we also do it as-well for the LO's!
The one thing I cannot stand when I'm working though is kids acting like the surgery is a bloody playground 🤦🏻‍♀️. There are so many dangerous things in our surgeries! Especially when they decide to sit on my nurse chair, GET OFF 😂. The worse is when the parents say nothing... I've told a child off once his mum wasn't impressed. He was running around our surgery, jumping on the chairs and then headed over to my dirty area where I had dirty instruments waiting to be decontaminated from the previous patient! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Squeakybubbles26 · 16/08/2019 02:13

@FairyDust92 oh yes it's def been one of those days! But I'm pleased to say tonight is going a little better! Well we've only woken up once so far :) 🍼 does your LO wake for a feed in the night or is it a dream feed you give him mainly?

I would love to look around nurseries and be nosey! You can tell if they are being fake to impress you or whether it's the real deal! It's a shame they aren't that desirable around you, hopefully you'll have a different impression when you begin to look tho and they can sell it to you 😊

Do you know your plans when returning to work? Full/part time/reduced hours etc? It's scary to think how quick it will come around 😢 I'm definitely cherishing this time a lot more however it's gonna past even quicker that first time round I swear 😢😢

A 12 year old screaming 🙄 how do you reassure a 12 year old lol! I admit I'm not a huge dentist fan, well I don't know many people who love it but I would never let that on to my girls! It's a part of life in my eyes and if it hurts it's not forever - ha like labour actually mind you not the same pain 😂
And parents that don't discipline their children this grinds me, so I can imagine it would frustrate you in your surgeries etc. Especially for safety with all those instruments etc, if anything was to happen you can assure the parents would blame you or the dentist and not themselves for not parenting etc! Grrr! At work there's been many times when we've all seen bad behaviour and parents let their children get away with it because they can't be bothered for the tantrum but then we're left to pick up the pieces! Sometimes I want to say it is ok to tell your child no 🙄

FairyDust92 · 16/08/2019 08:08

@Squeakybubbles26 how did the whole night go? He usually stirs and I know he wants a bottle and will stay asleep even when changing him. Last night he woke fully for his bottle at about 3 🤨. By 4 he was still awake staring at me in his crib. I thought no way I'm going to sleep 😂. He then woke at 7:30 for his feed. He's just finished now.

I hope I do find a nursery I like but none of these appeal to me. I'd like to go part time to reduce nursery bills. My partners dad has kindly said he'd do a few days but i don't like to. I know if i was retired I wouldn't want to be looking after babies 😂. I might take him up on a day though.
What are your plans for your hours? It's just a shame as where I live it's really expensive to live!

Oh god! Exactly you don't show it to your kids.
Yep! They try to make you look like the bad ones rather than discipline their own child! X

Squeakybubbles26 · 16/08/2019 09:31

@FairyDust92 the whole night wasn't to bad feed bed at 10 feed at 1.30 and 5 and then up about 7.45! I can handle that! Surprised he didn't give you his hey look at me scream at 4 hehe! Is he still on 5oz?

That's the problem the cost of childcare adds up, I'll have 2 in nursery for a year when I return 🙄😩. Have you heard about the help with childcare you can get from the government? Tax free childcare I believe it's called. When I return il continue to do 4 days a week with the girls in nursery 3 days and at my mums 1 day a week. My mum offered to have them more but like yourself felt guilty even though she says she loved having DD1 when I was working etc. What part of the UK are you in?

FairyDust92 · 16/08/2019 20:06

@Squeakybubbles26 that's good though! You don't mind that! I know I was expecting him to you know but I was too tired 😂. Yeah he's still ok 5oz he takes between 4-5 and not upping just yet as he seems happy on that. When he starts moaning for more and going less hours in between I'll up it it. What's your LO on?
Oh god! It's so expensive! feels like you're working just to put kids in nursery! 🙄. Oh that's nice of your mum. My mum still works full time. She'd love to look after all her grandkids bless her. When I retire I just want me time! 😂
I'm in Hampshire.
Yeah I heard of that I need to look more into it. Some of it I don't really get about it all tbh! Hahah

Squeakybubbles26 · 16/08/2019 21:57

@FairyDust92 it's funny how even though they are little we know what they want! We're on between 3-4oz! When LO was on the gripe/infacol she was only taking 1-2oz and I was worried she wasn't drinking never thought it was linked to that! But thank god now she usually drinks well!

I used to live in Surrey ☺️ I don't envy your living costs :( hopefully the tax free childcare will help out. I haven't used the tax free childcare myself so don't understand how it works, but hear it's good. We're still using the childcare vouchers. I know new parents can't sign up to them tho. But when I return think we'll use the tax free as we both dan use it.

FairyDust92 · 18/08/2019 11:44

@Squeakybubbles26 that's good that your LO has upped her feeds! I know it is crazy when they cry you can usually guess what it what they want 😂 that or you just try everything 😂.
It's so expensive 😔. I'll have to have a look into it. My work do vouchers which is the tax free thing with sodexo and I think it's around £200 a month so I think if you earn £1,200 a month only £1000 is taxable or something! I'll have to look into it more!
We had a good night last night 10:30-7:30 🥰 it's weird though because you literally wake up to every stir don't you. Every stir I thought oh he probably wants a feed but nope! The little trooper went right through!

Squeakybubbles26 · 18/08/2019 21:55

@FairyDust92 ah I don't want to be the bearer of bad news with the childcare vouchers they have stopped letting new parents join, unless you were using the before the cut off date (earlier this year it stopped) as they want everyone in the future to be on the new tax free childcare thing.

That's amazing well done little guy! I agree every little stir you think is this it, or I check the time and think surely not or yay we've done well or something! I made up the bottle at one of her stirs last night and then she didn't wake up for like 45 mins! Oh well more sleep for me :)

Here's hoping for a good night for us all! Have you had your 6 week checks yet?x

FairyDust92 · 18/08/2019 22:43

@Squeakybubbles26 ah never mind! I'm sure I'll sort something out.
Haha! That's good at least she slept through for a little bit!
No it's next week. Have you had yours x

Squeakybubbles26 · 19/08/2019 02:04

@FairyDust92 hope your night is going well! Ours should be this week, I've got to call on the day to request an appointment. Not a fan of the appointment system mind as you can't plan anything as I still may not get the appointment grr! Where's the time going again 😩 they won't be newborn for much longer! Mind you I love the 4month + stage they start to interact more it's lush! I can't wait for the first smile either, has your little guy smiled yet x

FairyDust92 · 19/08/2019 03:52

@Squeakybubbles26 my night was going well but my partner didn't do his dream feed so here we are 😂. How's your night going?!
What that is ridiculous! I thought you only did that with emergency appointments. It's so hard to get a doctors appointment anyway. Hoping to get his jabs done before I go away though!
Yeah I love them being giggly etc.
Only in the last week he has started to smile properly and it not be wind ☺️. How about your LO? X
