Have mentioned this on the Sept. thread already, but what do you all prefer out of Freya and Flora? I'm finding it really hard to decide! We both love Freya but it's getting really popular now and that puts me off, as I grew up with a really common name, which I hated... I think I almost prefer Flora but is it too unusual? And it seems like a name that's adorable on a 3 year old but odd on a grown woman, would you agree? DH says Flora just reminds him of the margarine, but that doesn't really bother me... interested in what the masses think

I know about 5 Freyas - so would avoid at all costs. DO't mind Flora, but prefer Florence.

Flora is lovely.
Freya is a little too popular for my liking.

I didn't think of the marg at all, but then my dd is named after a now and again thinking they're being amusing.

Alfie72 · 08/07/2007 22:55

Freya for sure !

hatwoman · 08/07/2007 22:55

purpleduck · 08/07/2007 22:57

purpleduck · 08/07/2007 22:58

MadamePlatypus · 08/07/2007 22:58

Oh I love Flora. I would have called DD Flora if DH had been more supportive.

hatwoman · 08/07/2007 23:02

flora, deffo. freya too common now.

PiusIX · 09/07/2007 00:00

Flora = margarine
Freya = 30s throwback (too too shamemaking)
Think again!

ProjectIcarus · 09/07/2007 00:11

Fleur - gorgeous
Freya - loads of them but nice
Flora - ditto Pruni Flora macdonald and bonnie prince Charlie
Florence - magic roundabout.

mum2george · 09/07/2007 10:06

Love them both. Just had a look at the Top 100 girls names on the national statistics website and Freya is no. 23 while Flora doesn't make it to the top 100. Don't know if that helps you decide

What about Florence? "Floey" for short.

Agree that Flora=margarine.
Freya=over-educated middle class NCT-type parents. Which might be okay if you don't mind being typecast as such, but the typecast is there, alright.

Mind you, don't know a single Freya locally, which truly goes to show what type of area I don't live in.

pirategirl · 09/07/2007 10:21

'area I dont live in' lol,

guess it just goes to show, wait for a Freya, and 3 turn up in a row.

thats my exp here! I'm al Freyered out.

SoupDragon · 09/07/2007 10:22

Freya I think.

Because of the margarine.

Rantmum · 09/07/2007 10:23

Still prefer freya, Flora makes me think of margarine and, perhaps by association, dairy cattle. Sorry to any Flora's out there!

Rantmum · 09/07/2007 10:24

What about Freda?
