@stormtrooperjulian its ridiculous. Considering I've gone from low to high risk you think we might be priority!

@thumper59 lovely picture 😍

@MrsC87 oh babe. I know how you feel with the whole consultant led, don't worry you've done nothing wrong hun. These things just happen sometimes x x

MrsC87 · 25/04/2019 17:20

Are you consultant led @Delilah7?
I'm better than earlier, Done a bit of research. Looks like baby will come earlier than I thought, but I don't mind that!
Just need to be careful with my diet now xx

Delilah7 · 25/04/2019 17:22

@MrsC87 I am. Haven't had any dealings with them yet have to chase tomorrow! Same for me he could be earlier as induction is normally needed xx

MrsC87 · 25/04/2019 17:50

Oh bless you, well as much as I don't want either of us to be consultant led, I'm glad I have someone to chat to in the same boat. Yes induction or c section. Birth Pool gone out the window xx

Delilah7 · 25/04/2019 20:18

@MrsC87 same as me babe. Water birth out of the window :( but what will be will be hey! I just want him safe and healthy x x

mrsof20118 · 25/04/2019 20:20

Congrats on the 12 week scan @thumper59. It goes fairly quick in between that and 20 week scan x

mrsof20118 · 25/04/2019 20:22

@MrsC87 don't blame yourself. Baby will be just fine and know you will get extra special care. X

Cookie0508 · 25/04/2019 22:12

Oh @MrsC87 it can literally happen to anyone, don't blame yourself. Someone in my office had it too. I've got my test in a few weeks time. I'm already consultant led for many reasons and to be honest I'd rather have more people checking on me and the boy.

GemmaJen · 26/04/2019 06:06

@MrsC87 I'm sorry to hear this, I've been told it's not down to diet but some people are predisposed to it? My sister has it, she's had to alter her diet, but it hasn't caused any issues really. Baby will be okay and you'll get some extra checks x

I'm having a mini panic, 20w scan is today, and I'm just having visions of something being wrong. Little one hasn't kicked at all this morning either, I think I'm going to be a hysterical mess come lunchtime 🙁

Distracting myself this week, I've been looking at reusable nappies, is anyone thinking of using these? It's real Nappy week at the moment so there seems to be more offers on than normal.

Cookie0508 · 26/04/2019 08:02

@GemmaJen good luck! I'm sure baby will be comfortably cuddled up waiting for you. Mine was also quiet around that time and I always expect he worse but he was fine xx

I'm looking at doing reusable nappies, had a friend who did it and I'm a sucker for a cute pattern. I hear the one size pocket ones are good and easy to use, just they may not fit newborns so I might start with disposables first. I was also reading about this site www.thenappylady.co.uk/ and have sent off the questionnaire for some advice. Plus I have never changed a nappy in my life so who knows how I'm going to handle the experience! I've certainly cleaned alot of animal poo so I'm hoping that has helped prepare me!

Cookie0508 · 26/04/2019 08:07

Also if this is any use to anyone, DP sent me this:

GemmaJen · 26/04/2019 08:18

@Cookie0508 that link looks interesting - so many clubs! I need to join the boots one, but have yet to do it. We are booked in to a mamas and papas event in a few weeks, hopefully it'll be interesting.

I've been looking at the offers for reusable nappies, the best I've found so far is 30% off at little lambs this week. I've stocked up some newborn nappies and wraps for about £5 each. We will see how we get on, it seems like such a minefield 🙈

My little lamb link for 30%off is i.refs.cc/jLtE09sg?smile_ref=eyJzbWlsZV9zb3VyY2UiOiJzbWlsZV91aSIsInNtaWxlX21lZGl1bSI6IiIsInNtaWxlX2NhbXBhaWduIjoicmVmZXJyYWxfcHJvZ3JhbSIsInNtaWxlX2N1c3RvbWVyX2lkIjoyODU3NTQ0NTV9

mrsof20118 · 26/04/2019 10:27

Good luck for today @GemmaJen. I remember mine being unusually quiet that morning too but all was OK x

RanchoRelaxo · 26/04/2019 14:03

Hi guys, sorry I have been absent for so long! Have been so busy and haven't actually been on MN for a while, trying to have a bit of a catch up now :)

@thumper59 wow what a beautiful scan pic, 12 weeks already! That feels like it's flown by (probably not to you 😂)

@MrsR16 congratulations! Don't think I saw your post saying you got your bfp!

@CobaltRose96 ah she is so beautiful 💚

@GemmaJen good luck for your scan today, are you finding out the sex? Try not to worry I remember having quiet days at that stage, think they still have the room to tuck themselves away somewhere you can't feel them!

@MrsC87 ah sorry to hear about the gd, no fun, but try not to panic about the consultant led care, there are a lot of perks if you look for them - extra care = more reasurance (I always find anyway) and extra scans! More chances to see your boy :) you get a lot more care at the birth and although you won't be able to use the water pool, rooms in the consultant care wards generally have big hydrotherapy baths so you can use them as much as you want!

I am now in the 3rd trimester too, my growth scan went well the other week, baby is a bit small but nothing to worry about yet!
I went to the Asda baby event the other night and got a half price breast pump and half price steriliser! Bargains if anyone else was going to have a look, I know there are a few different supermarkets doing baby events atm I need to have a look through them all!

GemmaJen · 26/04/2019 14:30

Well it's done, 20w scan mostly out of the way, true to form though our little one wasn't playing ball so we only got half the measurements. We've got to go back in a few weeks, what was seen looks good but I'm a little disappointed we have to go back - thought I'd be able to relax a little bit after today.

@RanchoRelaxo thankfully we had a private scan for the gender, I don't think that the NHS will have the patience for our little bean. we had to have two gender scans as they were really struggling to get them to move into a good position to see. But we are having a girl 😊

RanchoRelaxo · 26/04/2019 14:47

@GemmaJen oh I remember now! 😂😂 Little monkey, there are so many girls at the moment!
Glad the scan went half okay, I think if there was anything major wrong they would have seen it straight away, so I recon you can relax a bit now :) and look forward to another peek in a few weeks!

MrsR16 · 26/04/2019 18:33

@RanchoRelaxo thanks hun! I was thinking about you the other day and hoping you were ok! 😊 still very early days, but every day is a step closer to 12 weeks!

MrsC87 · 27/04/2019 08:25

Morning ladies, Thankyou all for your replies, feeling much better about the GD. Booked into see the Diabetic Nurse on Monday and she was very reassuring on the phone. As I'm just over the threshold she thinks a change in diet slightly will be enough!

@RanchoRelaxo @Delilah7 consultant led now makes me feel reassured with the extra monitoring and checks. Plus I get more scans now!
@GemmaJen yes nurse confirmed it's nothing I've done, it's down to the pregnancy hormone that fights insulin. How far along is your sister or has she had her baby? Glad 20 week scan went well, Shane you didn't get all measurements but at least you see baby again in a couple of weeks 🥰 xx

EltzBee · 27/04/2019 13:45

Afternoon ladies, back from holiday today, a much needed break! Had a lovely week away :) 22+1 today, Bean still good at hiding so not feeling lots of kicks yet, arrive days very quiet but I know that isn't unusual at this stage.

My sleep the past couple of weeks has been awful though, I keep walking throughout the night.

Also heartburn has kicked in the past week! Probably made worse by all the lovely food on holiday, but not sure what to do about it if it continues?

OP posts:
Crossfitgirl · 27/04/2019 15:19

@eltzbee with you on the heartburn, I have rennies I take before bed and sometimes after meals. Eating smaller portions and less sweet /rich /greasy food deffo helps me a lot, and I try sit as upright as possible.
If it's keeping you up though, ranitidine is meant to be great and it's safe in pregnancy. I plan to get some or ask my GP for some if mine gets any worse.

@mrsc87 sorry you've had to go consultant led, but as others have said its just one of those things, and at least you'll get a bit of extra care. I've been feeling super guilty as I can't stop eating sweet stuff as I keep thinking ahhh I'll probably end up with GD, but yes it can happen to anyone regardless of diet.

@ranchorelaxo I looked at the baby event but there's so much stuff, I got overwhelmed and didn't get anything. Though we did go and buy all our nursery furniture, car seat, crib and pram in mamas and papas at Easter so I think that's enough for this month! @gemmajen if you have an idea of what you want to get, you might get quite a bit of money off at the parent to be event. We got loads of money off with the personal shopping experience plus the Easter sale, but she said they can also give you 10% discount basically any time at their discretion so you can always go again after the event and still get the discount. Xx

Crossfitgirl · 27/04/2019 16:37

@gemmajen thanks for the link by the way, I have just bought a kit of 10 pocket ones, I've been told they are really good! Xxx

Delilah7 · 27/04/2019 16:39

I literally feel like I can't do this anymore 😩
They might have misdiagnosed me however my levels of ALP are still really really high which means my liver or placentas got something up with it. However they don't seem concerned, yet they need to be!
I just feel I'm hurting him, and failing him as a mum already.

MrsC87 · 28/04/2019 12:53

Hey @Delilah7 how are you doing today? Sorry I don't know too much, but have you been in touch with consultant re your levels?
I felt the same re the GD, I thought I had been a bad mum by eating sugar but by caring and worrying we are being good Mums! Our priority is our boys so keep going your doing well 😘😘😘

stormtrooperjulian · 28/04/2019 13:33

@GemmaJen glad your scan looks ok so far, I guess it’s annoying that they couldn’t get all the measurements but on the bright side you get to see your baby again in a couple of weeks

@EltzBee glad you had a good holiday, where did you go? I think there are a few pregnancy safe heartburn remedies you can try if it doesn’t get better

@Deliah7 you’re not failing your little one, you’re doing the best you can and you just have to rely on the professionals to know what they’re doing and help you out when you need it.

I’m trying to book a holiday today, we were supposed to fly to Sri Lanka this week so obviously that’s been cancelled and now I need to find an alternative. So annoying, I’d spent ages planning and booking all the different hotels, we were really looking forward to it.

Delilah7 · 28/04/2019 14:03

@MrsC87 I'm ok. Trying not to stress so much but it's really hard. Especially when family stuff with negligence has happened at that hospital and it's just made us never fully trust them since my nephew has special needs due to them. I don't even have a consultant yet I haven't met him or her or heard from them so I can't really do anything 😔

@stormtrooperjulian thanks Hun. Aww, hope you find a suitable alternative. Xx
