@stormtrooperjulian my brother was 2lb 12oz sister was 4lb 3oz and I was 6lb 5. However OH was 8lb so that's why I'm being cautious.

@EltzBee yes I'd do that! Awww we got a prep and go machine too! I've done the cleaning cycle and it's so easy to use by the looks!! I've just got Tommee Tippee bottles at the moment. Probably dangerous just having one bottle 😂

ChaosMoon · 16/04/2019 15:25

I got a few 0-1 and a few 0-3 months, with the same idea that they'd last better. However, she's drowning in the 0-3 and the 0-1 are really too big as well. It might not matter for all babies but she hates having her hands covered so we've had to buy some newborn stuff too.

She also doesn't like swaddling (because of the hands) so we're using sleeping bags. I just had long sleeved sleep suits and short sleeved vests, but when we checked the temperature in the room, it was too warm for those. We need a 1.5 tog bag and a vest, so we've had to get some long sleeved vests too. In hind sight, I should have worked out the temperature when I hit about 38 weeks so I could work that out ahead of time.

In terms of quantity, we probably have to change her 3 times a day, and she's not a sicky baby. So be prepared to do a lot of washes at first if you don't want to buy too much ahead of time.

thumper59 · 16/04/2019 16:06

@Delilah7 Oh boy the constipation, I was sat crying on the toilet last week 😂😂. These are the parts of pregnancy nobody tells you about! My skin is awful and I cried on the toilet 😂😂

Delilah7 · 16/04/2019 16:38

@ChaosMoon I've got a hand me down sleepybag but I think the tog will be too hot for July so may have to get a better one. That's why I'm glad I've got more than less at the moment 😂

@thumper59 don't, it hurts sometimes to push and then I think ' omg is it a baby?!' 😂
Just been back to hospital due to reduced movements. This is doing my head in!!! And they do nothing pretty much until you're over 28 weeks.

thumper59 · 16/04/2019 16:41

@Delilah7 I'd be lying if I said I didn't sit and google 'can straining to hard hurt my unborn baby' 😂😂

Argh how annoying that they don't do much. It makes you want scans all the time the bloody worry doesn't it! I'm sure all is fine though x

Delilah7 · 16/04/2019 16:58

@thumper59 I'll defo admit I've done that once too 😂😂😂
He seems ok. But mum is not, I'm worrying all the bloody time x x

BostonFern · 16/04/2019 17:46

Oh no @Delilah7 I'd be a nervous wreck if I was going in and they weren't doing much.

@thumper59 don't get me started on my skin! Spots popping up all over my face, can't get any of my foundation to sit right either.

I'm frustrated that I've got so little energy, and frustrated that it means all I want to do is crash out on the sofa/bed so I'm getting bored of being at home.
I'm incredibly grateful and happy to be pregnant, but I don't think anyone really prepares you for all the mental challenges of these early weeks. I'm very thankful for my amazing DP, he's doing pretty much everything at home, lets me rest and keeps telling me I'm doing a great job......feel like I need to do something special after this first trimester to thank him (he was over the moon that I'd bought him ice cream the other day though, bless him 😂).

Delilah7 · 16/04/2019 17:52

@BostonFern they literally do my blood pressure and hear his heartbeat. But from a family that has a special needs nephew who had reduced movements ( fair enough it was with Rhys disease ) but I'm very aware that just because a babies heart beat is ok doesn't mean he is. Just makes me worry more! I have no energy either :(

TrashKitten10 · 16/04/2019 18:56

@thumper59 @BostonFern I've been spared the spots but then I think to have spots you'd need some form of moisture in your face, mine is drier than Ghandi's flip flop 😂 I can only assume all the moisture has been reallocated to.. ahem.. other areas Blush where I'm experiencing quite the opposite problem. God it's glamorous isn't it. Grin

thumper59 · 16/04/2019 19:28

@BostonFern I'm exactly the same! Absolutey knackered. The last few weeks I've had awful nausea it's subsided today and yesterday but the tiredness is still very real! Luckily I have an amazing OH too. Very grateful!

@TrashKitten10 who are these woman swanning abojt on insta looking fab. I look dreadful! I can't get my makeup to sit right on my skin either it's just so bumpy 😫

thumper59 · 17/04/2019 10:51

For the ladies further on then me... did you find the metallic taste lasted a long time? I'm 12 weeks Monday and my mouth still tastes awful/ feel thirsty all the time?

EltzBee · 17/04/2019 14:57

@thumper59 I didn't get the metallic taste but even now (20 weeks) I still have a much greater thirst than I used to, but it's not as crazy as it was in the 1st trimester! I think being thirsty is quite common in pregnancy; my midwife said at our booking appointment that you get a lot more blood running through you and with the baby and everything, your body needs more water.

@TrashKitten10 @thumper59 @BostonFern I usually have oily/combination skin and I got dry skin for a while that was irritated by things easily. It's more back to 'normal' now but the acne I was getting has calmed down too (phew!). I'm now using Body Shop Seaweed exfoliator about 3 days a week, and Tea Tree foam the other times, and using Le Roche Posay cleanser to remove make-up (if I do wear it - not often!) and their moisturiser which is lovely and light and hypoallergenic. I also got a new foundation from LRP as well, which feels much nicer on my skin with how temperamental it can be with hormones!

We bought some nice bits from Sainsbury's last night, we got two sleeping-bags, some basic babysuits in up to 1 month and 0-3 and some bibs. Gradually getting there for what we need! Not going to get any more up to 1 month unless we need to once baby is here, as it's only up to 9lbs so it either won't fit or won't be in use for long! Nice to have the option just in case they are smaller though.

@thumper59 I never got the metallic taste but I’m still thirsty all the time (17 weeks)

I got new bikinis today ready for my holiday in a couple of weeks. I’m really struggling with how fat I’m feeling at the moment. I’ve always been petite and kept in shape and now my boobs are huge, my bump is really obvious and I’m sure my hips and thighs are wider. DH keeps trying to reassure me but it’s not really helping. I didn’t expect to find it this difficult seeing my body change.

thumper59 · 17/04/2019 17:53

@stormtrooperjulian I'm sure you look fab but I know what you mean! I'm just at the stage where I look fat. I'm only a little person so always tried to keep myself trim but now I feel like I just look like a fat walrus in everything! My bad skin and gross hair doesn't help either

EltzBee · 17/04/2019 18:15

@stormtrooperjulian ah hun, I'm sure you look great, try to embrace the changes - after all, your body is doing an amazing thing and adapting, and whilst body shape might change I'm sure that you've kept yourself fit will be great preparation for baby. Hopefully you can treat yourself to some nice clothes that help you feel better about the changes and your new body.

I'm bigger (size 16) and so far have been lucky that my boobs have grown but my bump has just affected the front of my tummy. I've always had very wide hips so perhaps my body just isn't needing to fiddle with them as much yet?! I always remember a family member joking years ago that I had child bearing hips so I suppose they may be coming in useful after years of cursing them! lol.

@thumper59 what shampoo/conditioner are you using? The skin and hair situation does improve, mine went crazy to begin with too!

@EltzBee I always use Aussie. It's just mental atm!

Delilah7 · 17/04/2019 19:40

Well today's turned out great....

Doctor rang me this morning. Said I’ve got low iron and this Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), also known as obstetric cholestasis (OC), is a liver disorder that can develop during pregnancy. 😔

BostonFern · 17/04/2019 19:51

Oh no @Delilah7 , have they said if they need to do anything to treat it?

I've spent nearly nine hours marking assignments today (only eleven of them too 😭), I fear the last few may have shown that my patience is much less at present!

Delilah7 · 17/04/2019 20:13

@BostonFern bloods, more monitoring and meds. However it's likely I'll be induced earlier due to the risks and depending on what my bloods say.... I don't know much until my next midwife appointment which is Wednesday :( I just know they were like meant to be in the double figures and they're 599! X

EltzBee · 17/04/2019 22:18

@Delilah7 I've had to manage an iron deficiency for over a decade, I recommend Liquid Iron over the tablets they usually prescribe. The tablets are awful on the digestive system! They make pregnancy constipation like a walk in the park ... Worth paying for the liquid for sure. Xx
