Thanks @sunshine1987 I've felt her moving more today. Found the group :-) took my fb limit off to do it. Obvs had to change my profile pic to something half decent now that people have to see my face 😂

GemmaJen · 20/03/2019 07:01

Thanks for the link @sunshine1987, bit early to buy but at such a bargain it'd be rude not to.

So I've decided I've got to tell my boss today, been putting it off but with more appointments coming up I can't really leave it much longer. Wish me luck, this is going to be such an awkward conversation - I'm struggling to get the words ' I'm pregnant' out when telling family and friends - I'm not gifted with words in social situations, lol, so this I'd going to be fun. Just hope I don't out my foot in my mouth🤞

sunshine1987 · 20/03/2019 07:50

@gemmajen good luck, sure it will all be ok. I remember one of my friends being the same, she told me she was pregnant by saying she was going to get fat then thin again, took me ages to work out what the hell she was going on about lol 😂

Cookie0508 · 20/03/2019 08:00

@Crossfitgirl are you me?? I also had a bit of a breakdown at work this week letting it all get to me. Had a chat with a few people and am starting to get better now. Also bump hasn't been moving much for me either which constantly freaks me out. I feel nothing for a few days and then I feel something and it's like, is this indigestion or a baby?? Had a few pokes this morning in bed so I'm going to assume it's a baby but it has filled me with worry. It's been a pretty busy and stressful week, I'm going to have a rest this weekend!

Cookie0508 · 20/03/2019 08:02

Good luck @gemmajen I found so many different ways to say it instead of using the 'p' word which I still hate. I was like, so I'm not gonna be around in the summer...

stormtrooperjulian · 20/03/2019 08:04

@GemmaJen I’ve not told anyone apart from my parents yet but I feel really awkward about it too. Feels no different to me to announcing to someone that ‘DH and I have had successful unprotected sex’ 😂

EltzBee · 20/03/2019 08:42

@Crossfitgirl sorry to hear you're having a stressful week, definitely put yourself first you and baby are to priority over anything including work!

@gemmajen good luck! @stormtrooperjulian @Cookie0508 oh I'm the same can't bring myself to say the p word! I've chickened out of announcing to my colleagues or wider family again this week ... I know I can't hide it for ever but for some reason I just feel terrified about everything knowing. To begin with after our 12 week scan I was ok let's wait till 14 weeks and official 2nd trimester.

Then it was let's waits till after the 16 week scan.

Now I'm very saying can we wait till after 20 week scan. I'm probably being silly and letting my anxiety take over. It's getting harder to hide so if I don't fess up people will know anyway! Gahh! 😳🙈🙊🙉

@EltzBee @stormtrooperjulian @Cookie0508 I haven't said "I'm pregnant!" To anyone I don't think. We told my PIL that we got them a Christmas present that couldn't be wrapped and wouldn't be here until August and my own parents that we needed to redecorate again! Colleagues and managers etc I've said me and DP are expecting a baby. Makes it sound less cringe than pregnant to me for some reason haha!

@Crossfitgirl sounds like you're totally doing the right thing thinking of no. 1. I'm still working reduced hours using remainder of this years annual leave and due to start full time again from 1st April so 8 hours plus an hour each way for travelling. Absolutely dreading it but don't see how I can get round it without cutting my hours therefore reducing my pay. I'm hoping to go on leave at the end of June so it'd only be for three months but I've felt absolutely dire my whole pregnancy so far so it just sounds like such an effort that I won't be able to manage.

BostonFern · 20/03/2019 09:09

👋🏻
I've just found this thread!

@CobaltRose96 congratulations! She is beautiful!

Congratulations to all those who have had their scans and found out the gender too 🎉

I got my BFP on Sunday. Tested Monday and yesterday-have managed to resist so far today! AF not actually due until tomorrow, so I'm still not quite sure I believe it, but there was line progression on the tests and I feel exhausted. Also full of cold and scared being ill this early on might cause a problem. Assuming all goes well, my estimated due date will be 2nd December.

Crossfitgirl · 20/03/2019 09:14

@gemmajen good luck! Whichever way the words come out, I'm sure your boss will be fine :-)
@cookie0508 omg that's exactly me! It's so reassuring to feel the little kicks again but awful when they stop. You can't help but worry can you. With you on the resting this weekend, sod work, us and baby come first! Hope you feel less stressed. I've found the app "calm" to be really good for relaxation x
@eltzbee you might be surprised, I bet a few people will have already guessed, especially with you having been so ill and starting to show. I was surprised at the number of people that said ah, yeah, I did wonder... Obviously didn't hide how I was feeling as well as I thought I had! People just don't want to assume. You're well out of the risky stage now, and I actually found it a relief to tell people. But everyone's different, tell them when you're ready and only then, my friend at work didn't tell anyone until well past 20 weeks. It's personal choice x

@canonlyhopexo I'm lucky that I'm feeling fine, I plan to go off maybe 4 or 5 weeks before due date, but wind down to 4 day weeks then 3 day weeks from mid June. We go on hol 10th June so I've sort of decided to use that as my wind down point. Sorry you're still feeling rubbish. I feel very lucky that my sickness has passed... I hope it doesn't return!

MrsC87 · 20/03/2019 09:33

Congrats @BostonFern and welcome!
Christmas Baby 🎅🏽🎄 how exciting xx

Cookie0508 · 20/03/2019 09:52

@Crossfitgirl thanks I'll check that out! Definitely take some time out for yourself xx

@BostonFern welcome aboard!! xx

@EltzBee I was the same and kept holding off. I started telling people after the 16 week appt when I heard the heartbeat. I still feel weird telling people at 20 weeks as I'm still afraid something bad is going to happen. Though as soon as I started telling people I couldn't stop. I love talking about it now but I know I'm setting myself up for trouble if something goes wrong. At least I know at this stage the risks are so much lower. Can't wait for my scan next week tho!

BostonFern · 20/03/2019 09:54

Thanks @MrsC87 and @Cookie0508
DP has a Christmas birthday too, so December will be very busy!

EltzBee · 20/03/2019 11:31

@Cookie0508 thanks Hun. We saw little Bean in a private scan on the weekend and there isn't any indication anything is wrong, it is just my paranoia and anxiety. I think @Crossfitgirl has a good point though and i week probably feel better once people know. We should hear heartbeat tomorrow so maybe next week I'll feel better about fessing up!

Ah, congratulations @sunshine1987. What a beautiful baby!

I'm so sorry you've been having such a stressful time @Crossfitgirl and your almost panic attack must have been horrible. It sounds like you've made a good positive step towards controlling your workload and reducing your stress though. Well done. It sounds like some of the stress about work is transferring into stress about the baby. But your midwife is right - you don't need to worry about movements yet. And as things calm down with work, I'm sure you'll feel a lot better about everything.

And I'm sorry you've been having movement worries too @Cookie0508. It really is so stressful

@EltzBee has put it beautifully @stormtrooperjulian. What you're feeling is natural, understandable, and almost certainly unnecessary because the chances of something being wrong are so slim. Be kind to yourself until you hear something.

They must certainly aren't @canonlyhopexo! But after the next scan, and when he starts feeling it properly, it'll start feeling more real for him. I think that makes it easier for them to get involved.

How did it go with the midwife today @SullyWifey?

Good luck telling your boss @GemmaJen. How did it go?

And congratulations @BostonFern!

I didn't really tell many people until after 20weeks either. And tbh, even then I missed a lot of people. Half my office only realised when the advert went out for my mat cover and I'm sure there are still people I should have told. I guess they'll work it out when I turn up with a baby... 🤦

BostonFern · 20/03/2019 14:43

@sunshine1987 what a lovely scan photo.

Thank you @ChaosMoon

sunshine1987 · 20/03/2019 15:32

Massive congratulations @bostonfern, welcome xx

BostonFern · 20/03/2019 18:29

Thanks @sunshine1987

Hope everyone has had a good day.

I'm starting to feel stretching like sensations in my pelvic area- not sure if that's normal?

mrsof20118 · 20/03/2019 18:45

Sorry you have been feeling rubbish @crossfitgirl. Less responsibility should help. Think being pregnant can cause everything to be so overwhelming. I had a massive panic the day before scan as hadn't felt movements. Baby all ok so trying to tell myself its normal at this stage.

That's the clearest photo I've seen @sunshine1987

So at 21 weeks I haven't developed that line down my belly but seem to have grown a faint line of hair above belly button?! so weird and makes me feel slightly gross! X

Crossfitgirl · 20/03/2019 21:41

Congratulations and welcome @bostonfern! Yes, the stretching sensations are normal. I had loads of wierd crampy sensations and couldn't sleep because of it the first few nights. I remember it so well. Enjoy the new strange feelings!! ❤️❤️❤️
You'll have lots more to come!

@sunshine1987 aw what a lovely clear pic! Glad all is well! I take it you're staying team yellow!

Thank you @chaosmoon I feel loads better about work already, and I haven't even done any today as I've been on a training day!

I told a handful of people at work after my 12 week scan and didn't need to tell everyone else ...just let the gossip spread and the whole office and other 2 teams knew by the end of the week 😂

@mrsof20118 I can't tell you how much more quickly my facial hair is growing. I mean my actual hair looks lovely and thick, it's amazing, but I'm having to wax my tash and keep well on top of my little chin and neck hairs that I pluck as they are growing like I don't know what! Loving these hormones... Haha. So glam.

I haven't got the substantia nigra line thing either. 20 weeks on Friday. That's what it's called isn't it? Something like that.

Does anyone mind sharing bump pics at all? I'm just interested to see how mine compares to others as aparently I'm "big". But I'm also short and have a short torso. I may post mine and cut my face out for MN lol x

Crossfitgirl · 20/03/2019 21:46

This was on Sunday I think, 19+2. Love my bump now but was so paranoid at first!

Crossfitgirl · 20/03/2019 21:46

Oops. Didn't attach lol

@crossfitgirl yeah still team yellow, I looked when they told me not too so I could “accidentally see” (no one tell the OH 🙈 lol) but legs were clamped shut. This was me 19 weeks but I’m 5”8 so quite tall xx

@sunshine1987 @Cookie0508 yes to the awkward anouncements, lol. The first people I told I couldn't get the words out, so alluded to me being fatter very soon but not eating all the pies, lol. Why is it so hard to say?

@stormtrooperjulian I hadn't thought of it that way 😮 now I feel more awkward!😆

@Crossfitgirl, @ChaosMoon yes it went well, such a relief! We had a 45 minute catch up and talked nothing but business, there wasn't a quiet moment to slot the news in. Didn't realise until the end, so had to ask for another 5 minutes at the end of a team meeting, awkward in front of everyone but got her alone and just blurted it out! 🙈 She was lovely about it and I guess we'll see how it's gone down over the next few weeks. I'm still worried it'll effect the work I'm given or involved in, but I couldn't leave it much longer as I've got a lot of appointments coming up. Just glad it's over!

Congratulations @BostonFern, welcome to the mad house 😊

@sunshine1987 beautiful scan and so clear, were they wiggling about, it looks like the picture caught them mid boogie x
