@fivexfive just to throw this out there, apart from being bloated recently and a nauseas from 8 weeks I would have been none the wiser. I had hardly any symptoms and now 13 weeks so I’d say it’s definetely possible lol x

FivexFive · 30/01/2019 13:46

@sunshine1987, I'll just give the midwife a run down of events and see what she says. Will spend the weekend preparing for her questions and writing down any we want to ask. Xx

stormtrooperjulian · 30/01/2019 15:02

@GemmaJen hope your appointment goes well. I was WFH this morning til the snow on my road melted, we’re very rural so no gritting around here. It’s mostly gone now though.

@FivexFive good luck with your exam!

@EltzBee I gagged when DH offered me hummus yesterday. I used to love hummus! I decided on an early scan as I have some control issues and at the moment I don’t feel that I have any control over anything, and it makes me anxious. Am hoping that having an early scan will help with that.

EltzBee · 30/01/2019 16:36

@stormtrooperjulian fair enough I hope it goes well for you :) I get really bad anxiety (my tablets generally keep it check thankfully) and was going back and forth, but then decided whilst I'd stop worrying for a day I would still worry between the two scans. Silly I know!!! I think we might try and have a scan later on as after 20 weeks, that's it scan-wise til they're born right?! :o

Ah bless you on the hummus! It's so weird isn't it how food we usually love is suddenly just, NOPE, get away from me!

Bettythecat · 30/01/2019 18:51

Hi everyone just checking in- back from my trip to China now. Was a bit of a wasted time as the meetings didn't go that well and some of them were cancelled but on the plus side the plane ride was fine. Just drank a lot of water and moved round a lot. Actually told the check in people I am pg in the hope of a cheeky upgrade but no luck 😂

Came home to a letter with me scan date though. 25th March which is just over 12 weeks. I'm 5 today. Seems like absolutely ages away though! I think we are leaning towards having an early scan just to check things are developing as planned and to try and break up the time- the weeks are dragging right now!

Hope you're all well and having good weeks so far.

Xx

FivexFive · 30/01/2019 19:22

@bettythecat, sorry the trip wasn't quite what you'd hoped, but glad to have you back!! Ha ha, I'd have tried for an upgrade too, no harm asking 😉 That's so exciting about your scan!! This will sound so daft, but do you go about getting an early scan?? My first booking appointment is Mon so thinking my scan will be March time... Not sure I'm patient enough for that!! Xx

FivexFive · 30/01/2019 19:26

Sorry, meant to say How do you go about getting an early scan!! X

GemmaJen · 30/01/2019 20:33

Booking in half done, meeting with the midwife at home just after 9 weeks to finish the forms. This is the same as last time so must be standard procedure round here. She's going to try and get my 12 weeks scan a little early due to Crufts (I'm competing my dogs) so don't want to go just before in case it's not good news. But we have got a 9w private scan before then so hopefully it'll go okay. And of course I forgot all my questions until after I'd left, lol, must write them down before the next appointment.

@EltzBee yes I went on my own, my midwife is lovely - was good to meet her again to confirm that, she was very nice about last time (mmc) and had even noticed I'd cancelled my appointment last week and was worried about me. Sorry about bananas, it's funny isn't it. I used to have tuna for lunch every other day, as of last week I can't even look at a tuna salad now without heaving 🤢. We just moved from South Oxfordshire last summer, we lived near Didcot, a lovely area, especially the ridgeway.

@FivexFive good luck for your test tomorrow 🤞

Bettythecat · 30/01/2019 20:38

@FivexFive you have to pay for them privately- don't think you can get an early one on the NHS unless there are risks or complications. Do you have your exam tomorrow? How has revision gone? How are your pg symptoms? X

FivexFive · 30/01/2019 20:52

@gemmajen, thanks!! Glad you're midwife is lovely 🙂

@bettythecat, it went well, just brushed up an a few spreadsheet bits etc. A bit worried as I've not taken a full on practice paper in real time, but just hoping all is OK on the day.

Not got many symptoms to be honest!! The damp has cleared up. Boobs are sore first thing, but are OK after that. I swear I've already got a little bump, but I'm pretty small so there is nowhere for it to hide!! How about you?? Xxx

Bettythecat · 30/01/2019 21:05

@FivexFive yeah I'm the same in terms of symptoms although I still have "The Damp". Have had other mild symptoms like light headedness and headaches but not every day at all. Seem to be much hungrier and thirstier too. Generally though I don't really "feel" pregnant.

I'm sure your test will be fine and you've done plenty of prep. Let us know how you get on. Xx

zoomies1 · 30/01/2019 21:28

Hi all, just checking in.
@Bettythecat, I ‘feel’ pregnant, I’m uncomfortable, I’m growing a beard(WTF) and my melasma seems to be getting just a tiny bit worse. BUT I’m going to Tenerife on Friday and I am SO looking forward to it. Although I’m not sure what clothes will fit and my suitcase will be full of crackers and lemon and ginger tea Grin
I have an early scan tomorrow, I think because I said I had the coils removed end of Oct and my cycles were still settling meaning my dates aren’t certain.

SullyWifey · 30/01/2019 21:47

Evening chicks. So 13.3 and Iv started being and feeling sick last couple of days. So annoying morning and evening again :( thought all this was behind me. Wonder if it will come and go throughout?

I'm constantly hungry, to the point I'm so bored of eating. Like I have a hungry feeling but my throat doesn't want to swallow if that makes any sense?

Anyone else relate? I'm sitting here all bottom lip pushed out because feeling fed up of the sick. I ate a lovely carbonara earlier and just threw it straight back up, all in my hair. Wtf.

EltzBee · 30/01/2019 21:52

@GemmaJen ah so glad it went well today, sounds like you have a supportive midwife. We moved here months ago so still getting to know the area, but liking it so far! Very friendly and it's a good mix of amenities whilst being right near the countryside. The station is super handy too!

@Bettythecat welcome back! Glad the flight was okay too. Hopefully time will go quickly. It's felt like ages but it's getting easier now knowing it's just over 2 weeks til our scan. Still seems like ages away but keep telling myself it isn't!

@zoomies1 good luck with the early scan hope they are able to pin down dates more for you! And had a fab holiday of course, enjoy the sunshine and warmth!

EltzBee · 30/01/2019 21:54

@SullyWifey ah no about sickness coming back! My friend had sickness come and go up til 14 weeks. Fingers crossed yours goes again soon. I think 13 weeks is officially 2nd trimester so theoretically the placenta should be taking over imminently and fingers crossed that'll help? No nice sounds awful for it to come back when you think you're over it too. Sending hugs.

zoomies1 · 30/01/2019 22:41

@Sulleywifey, I feel for you. Getting that feeling of normality back is amazing. To have it nabbed away is so dissapointing

SullyWifey · 31/01/2019 07:15

@EltzBee thanks hun, hopefully your right and it's any moment now!! @zoomies1 that's exactly it, I finally felt normal again and then, bam, back to square 1!

Telling my boss today which is probs making me more anxious. I tried yesterday but chickend out. It's got to be today. Wish me luck. It's going to be a difficult conversation 😩

canonlyhopexo · 31/01/2019 09:04

@SullyWifey good luck with your boss today. I hope it goes better than you anticipate. I totally feel your pain about sickness. I've been sick every day since 5+6. I'm now 12+2.

we've got the scan this morning in a couple of hours. I am so nervous that I've been shaking and needed a nervous poo 😂 which on one hand is good as I've been a bit backed up! I feel like I could burst into tears at any given moment. Was anyone else like this?

EltzBee · 31/01/2019 10:28

@canonlyhopexo hope the scan goes well!

@SullyWifey good luck with your boss. I hope they're supportive. Mine unofficially knows as I've been having such bad nausea and exhaustion, this week has been a nightmare I'm barely functioning let alone trying to face work. I'm hungry but food makes me feel sick so catch 22 there as well. About to try some toast!

SullyWifey · 31/01/2019 13:15

Thanks girls.

I told him. I rehearsed it so many times and it came out nothing like I said. Was so nervous I was shaking. He was very shocked and has gone a little quiet. He did say congrats and that I'm going to be hard to replace. Which was more than I expected.

Just 5.5 months to go to maternity leave begins. Roll on!

FivexFive · 31/01/2019 13:15

@sullywifey, sorry to hear you're feeling ill again, hopefully the talk with your boss will go well and it may make you feel better xxx

Well ladies, exam is done!! I know I lost a few marks here and there, but overall I feel it went pretty well. Results are mid March, probably about the same time as my scan!!

Hope you're all doing OK today. Xxx

Bettythecat · 31/01/2019 13:31

@SullyWifey why do you think he was surprised? Are you in a big team or are you the only one doing your role?

@FivexFive well done for finishing I'm sure you did better than you think it's always the way! I always think if you find it easy it's probably because you've missed the point of the question 😂 finding it tricky and thinking you've not done that well means you had to think which is always a good sign I think!

EltzBee · 31/01/2019 13:48

@SullyWifey well done. Have you started thinking about how much time off you'll take? I'll only get stat mat pay so I'm going to play it by ear but may try and go back part time after a few months, who knows though. Saving money now to try and cover time off. Hope your employer is supportive - being off even if you take a year.

SullyWifey · 31/01/2019 13:56

@Bettythecat it's only a small company with 7 staff. He's never had anyone be pregnant before so think he's a little naive to the real world!

@EltzBee I will only get stat pay as well! I'm thinking I'll have to do some kind of work a few months in just to top up. Just don't think I want to come back to this company! But keeping options open xx

@canonlyhopexo good luck with the scan, fingers crossed xx

Bettythecat · 31/01/2019 14:10

@SullyWifey oh dear I see- yes I can understand how he would be a bit startled then 😂. Have you asked him if there is a maternity package? Even if your contract only says statutory you might be able to negotiate something separate.

I get 3 months full pay then statutory and planning to take 9 months and then DH gets 3 months full pay too so he can take that then. Early days though obviously! I will also be saving up though so that we can survive!!

Xx
