@canonlyhopexo I think I might get DH to do my toes this summer! Friend who were pregnant over summer said it was good bring able to wear flip flops without funny looks if it had been winter as they were so much more comfortable for pregnant feet!

Oh bless you! I believe think I will go for layers next week then so I don't get too hot.. Maybe I should tell DH to wear shorts to our scan haha.

canonlyhopexo · 08/02/2019 12:03

@EltzBee same hahaha or my sister especially like you say with flip flops gotta have the toes looking fancy! 😂

Yeah definitely I would wear layers. I was looking like a bog monster as I was so sick but I had a tracksuit bottoms on uggs a big jumper and a coat. Bad idea! I am usually a really cold person always have been but since pregnancy I'm always boiling!

ChaosMoon · 08/02/2019 13:47

Ummmm going to the midwife let unit @Bettythecat, half the time have pools so I'm hopeful. But I'll definitely consider a home birth for my second. The data around safety is actually slightly better to have a home birth for your second if you're low risk and your first went well. And I keep hearing wonderful things about them.

Yeah, it was me @Crossfitgirl. We did a four hour intensive hypnobirthing course. We don't quite practice every night, but I love it when we do. DH actually does as well. I feel so connected to him when we go through the meditations and it's given both of us a lot more confidence. In a weird way, I'm looking forward to the birth as something we're going to work on together. Like I'm training for a marathon and he's my coach and going to cycle along next to me to keep me going. My only anxiety about it is that something could happen to stop him being there.

@sunshine1987 mine said the same. I commute by train though so I can't keep them in the car. (Well I could, but there wouldn't be much point!)

ChaosMoon · 08/02/2019 13:50

Oh and @EltzBee and @canonlyhopexo I can highly recommend pedicures from about 27 weeks. Even if you're not in flip flops, it's bliss!

Crossfitgirl · 08/02/2019 14:24

@chaosmoon aww that's lovely. I may look for a course if they aren't too expensive. Just already doing the NCT and have just booked to do a child first aid course as my friend organised one.

@canonlyhopexo I'm always super hot now too. And I'm usually freezing all the time! Lol. So strange what pregnancy does to you!

EltzBee · 08/02/2019 14:49

With you on the being warm! I'm usually freezing all the time and I keep having hot flush type things! I keep wandering around the house in the bare minimum 🤣😂

stormtrooperjulian · 08/02/2019 15:04

I had my early scan this morning, measuring 7+2 which is exactly where I thought I was, and we could see the heartbeat. So all good news there. I’ll be telling my parents tomorrow, my mum will be so excited!

AnnaMC214 · 08/02/2019 16:03

Congrats @stormtrooperjulian! Great to hear everything is going well xx

For those thinking about where to give birth you might find the Which? Birth Choice web pages helpful. You can put in a location and see all the stats for different options near you.

SullyWifey · 08/02/2019 16:42

@stormtrooperjulian oh good to hear darling. It's so lovely isn't it when you see the little heart going!

Ladies, do any of you have moments where you don't feel pregnant? Lol. I feel so normal today. And I feel like what was starting to poke out as a bump has gone back to normal.... am I mad??

💖

Crossfitgirl · 08/02/2019 18:21

Omg @sullywifey that was me today! I have no symptoms at ALL today and between chilling out and reading my book I managed to even forget I was pregnant for a bit!! Why can't we just be happy we feel normal?! Lol. Symptoms are awful anyway!! My bump seemed smaller today too, I mean prob cos i ate less breakfast but still... I can actually still suck in the entire bump and not look preggo and I did this earlier in the mirror (I mean it's v effortful but doable) and thought... Is this baby even poking out or what? Is it actually just a food baby?! It sticks out but it's still stomach shaped rather than bump shaped... Think the bump is inside where my stomach used to be and my stomach has just protruded out haha.

Sorry that turned quite long didn't it! Can you suck your bump in? Hurrah for no symptoms!!

@stormtrooperjulian aww yay let's see the pic?? So glad it went well and you saw the little heartbeat!

@annamc214 I thought about joining which, purely for all the baby stuff reviews as its all so expensive so worth knowing about. Do you pay for it or is the bit you've seen free? Xx

AnnaMC214 · 08/02/2019 18:52

@Crossfitgirl all the stuff I looked at was completely free. I know what you mean about joining just for the baby product reviews though. I really want to do my research on the big stuff like buggies and car seats. I need to try not to get ahead of myself just yet though! 😂

Crossfitgirl · 08/02/2019 18:59

@annamc214 we just had a quick Google. It's either pay £1 for a month free trial of Which then squeeze all the research into that month (it's like £11/month after that!!) or Google best buys and top 10 review things for free. DH had a quick look and there's actually quite a lot of free independent reviews on the tinterweb so think we'll just do our own go ogling. Or maybe I'll pay for which cos I'm lazy 😂

FivexFive · 08/02/2019 19:05

@AnnaMC214, @crossfitgirl, I had a look at which last week, to check out hospital /birth options in our area. I might have to start looking at products etc soon too...

On one hand you worry it is too early (I was never superstitious at allll before getting pregnant, now all my batty nans old sayings are coming back to me?!) But then, when you think of the cost, the choices etc, I don't know?? Doesn't it make more sense to research early, then you can spread the costs over a longer time and you're prepared?? I mean, after we're past the 12 week mark, obviously. But some people leave it riiiiiight until the end. And I get it, I really do. But I think I'd feel better getting bits along the way?

It's like Tamal said on the bake off a few series ago "decisions, decisions... All of them wrong!!"

What do you lovely ladies think?? Xx

Good lord that was a long ramble. Sorry guys! On a happy note, I made pizzas for tea 😋

@fivexfive we looked at prams way before 12 weeks haha. But as for seriously purchasing, hoping to do most of that in 2nd trimester, so starting around now ish! Think it's def good to have a look. I've already got a few bits in mind although haven't properly researched yet. But just go for it. There's no harm in looking early. I felt a bit odd about looking early in case it tempted fate, its just the worry that's taking over. It seems like it was so silly now that I'm past the 12 weeks, but I remember how anxious I was before!

OMG. Such pizza envy!

FlapJackered · 08/02/2019 20:57

When did you all go and have a tour of the hospital? I am guessing after the booking appointment? My letter for my appointment came through and it says I can choose between two hospitals, it doesn't say when I need to choose by though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@canonlyhopexo that's good to know you had the same pains. Ahh a spa birth would be lovelyyyy! 😄

@ChaosMoon the hypnobirthing sounds amazing I am definitely going to do it.
When are you due?

@Crossfitgirl When did you book the NCT classes? I have heard good things about them.

@stormtrooperjulian congratulations on the scan, it must be so amazing to see it wriggling around in there!

@FivexFive Oh my god I'm salivating. That looks so good. I have already eaten but I now desperately want a pizza!

AnnaMC214 · 08/02/2019 21:38

@FivexFive I definitely don't think there's any harm in looking around at stuff. When my dh and I were planning our wedding if we saw something we liked or a great deal we just went for it so I might employ that attitude again once we reach 12 weeks.

I am seriously impressed by your pizza making skills. Looks delicious!

Crossfitgirl · 08/02/2019 22:35

@flapjackered my midwife pack says to go look round anytime, but advise from about 34 weeks I think. I don't think you need to decide anything until very near the birth? Someone said they don't discuss your birth plan til around then anyway, so plenty time.
I haven't decided yet anyway. It's between the birth centre and the labour ward for me, leaning towards birth centre.

I booked onto an NCT course pretty much the week after I found out we were pregnant. Knew I wanted to do one and when I looked there was 8 places on the one for my due date in my area. Didn't want to miss out - heard great things about them, and none of my close friends have kids so want the mum friends too. I am already feeling a little bit of a shun on social activities from my 2 closest friends since announcing. It's probably just in my head, but I'm so paranoid I'll lose all my friends to motherhood.

I know nobody wants to know this. But I just had a massive poo. And I now feel amazing. Feels like my tummy has halved in size! Haha sorry TMI but, it's a very sweet momentary moment of not feeling bloated for me! Know the bloat will be back tomorrow!

FivexFive · 08/02/2019 23:21

@crossfitgirl, sometimes there is nothing as satisfying as a good poo!! I've been looking at the nct courses too. The one I saw was something like two thirds of classes on the birth and then a class or 2 on the early parent days. I think there was a whole class set aside for breastfeeding too. Is that similar to ones you've seen? Xx

Crossfitgirl · 08/02/2019 23:28

@fivexfive I completely agree 😊

Yeah mines 4 evening classes plus one full day on breastfeeding. To be honest i didn't even bother looking much at what else they covered! That's bad isn't it! I thought it was mainly on the birth but I definitely hope there's some on early parent days. It's the signature course I've booked. It was ages ago I booked it. Will have another look lol x

FlapJackered · 09/02/2019 11:24

@Crossfitgirl haha! Congratulations on your massive poo 😂 There's nothing quite as satisfying as a long awaited poo! 😂
That's good to know re the NCT classes I will look into them soon.

I am seeing my Brother for supper tonight. I am not ready to tell him yet as I want to tell my sister first as she is the one going through ivf. I just hope I can pull it off convincingly. He knew I was doing dry January so I might say that since January a tiny bit of alcohol really effects me so I don't want to drink and drive just in case. 😬

MrsC87 · 09/02/2019 13:13

So ladies I'm having a boy 💙💙💙
Beautiful laid back baby, sprawled out chilling. He was absolutely beautiful, both hubby and I are so so pleased. First grandson in the family 🥰

Aw that’s lovely @mrsc87, massive congratulations 💙💙💙

FivexFive · 09/02/2019 16:27

@MrsC87, that's awesome!! Fab news!! Xx

Random advice request ladies and another ramble I'm afraid ... So dh and I go to quite a few gigs, although not nearly as many we used to. It's not like I stand at the front or mosh or anything, that be a young person's game! But dh has asked about a few upcoming ones and I'm just not sure I can be bothered atm!! I've told him that obviously as I get further along I'll be giving them a miss, which he 100% gets. But I think he's trying to 'squeeze' as many ones in before then, as it's something we always do together, which is understandable. Although I don't have sickness or anything, I think it's the tirednness and, if I'm really honest, a worry of getting shoved about even though I'm at the back and careful etc. We're going to one tonight (old ska band, lots of 'dad dancing') so should be a fun, light one! Thinking of using it as a benchmark, but telling dh I'm only going to very certain ones from now, depending on how I feel, the type of crowd and venue etc. Do you think that's reasonable? Am I being over cautious to cut down gigs so early? Under cautious for going at all?! Just wanted to see what you guys think, nearly all my gig going friends are guys so might not get it!! Xx
