Oh god @EltzBee poor you, that sounds horrific! Good luck with the appointment tomorrow, very exciting!

I took another test today and it's really dark now which is reassuring, although I know doesn't mean much at this stage.
Did anyone sleep really badly in the early days? I keep waking up at like 3/4am and then tossing and turning until morning. I'm so tired now!

Crossfitgirl · 06/02/2019 21:26

@mrslbear I'm 13+5 now and the sickness has completely gone. I had all day nausea and food aversion to basically everything, that was worse weeks 6-8, then very slowly got better and better. Still a bit tired and have the odd day of feeling not so great, but only this past week, week 13 I've felt pretty normal again and can stomach most foods now! Hope that helps?

Oh @eltzbee I'm wishing the first trimester speedily away for you xxx

@bettythecat totally understandable to feel you may like one after seeing your cousin go through that. Do whatever will make you worry the least.

@flapjackered I have no doubt you will be getting that early scan, you POAS maniac haha. I got woken up by the cramping in the early days and did struggle to sleep, have also needed to get up to pee in the night every single day since finding out.

Crossfitgirl · 06/02/2019 21:32

@starkid 😂 saved a spot for you!

Is anyone experiencing headaches?
I've had an awful one all today and yesterday. It made me feel sick yesterday and nothing helped, had to go to bed and sleep it off. Then today woke up with it! I downed loads of water and had paracetamol and stayed in the room for an hour while DH went to get us some sunbeds by the pool this morning.
I thought it was the heat /possibly dehydration but I've drunk LOADS and it's got worse again this evening.

I've searched MN for old threads and read a lot about headaches in the early 2nd trimester... It sounds like it's common and there's not much I can do 😩

Anyone else having any /got any advice?
Xxx

FivexFive · 06/02/2019 21:50

@flapjackered, I woke in the night loads just before finding out and for a week or so after, but not so much now. I'm sure it'll start again as I get further along though!

Felt rough today, really tired and achy, think it's from yesterday's flu jab. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Plus I have Fri and Mon off work which is cool 🙂

Question... How long after the booking in appointment did you guys get your scan letter? I'm sure I'll have to wait until mid March for the scan, but curious to see when we get the date through! Xx

RanchoRelaxo · 06/02/2019 22:16

@Crossfitgirl sorry not advice but I also have horrible headaches, but it's not everyday, and normally sleeping makes them feel a bit better, just rubbish cause we can't take anything other than paracetamol!

@FivexFive I felt awful the few days after my flu jab, the pharmacist who did it said that it wouldn't give me flu, but might give me flu like symptoms 👎 and my midwife booked my scan Infront of me while I was at my booking appointment, guess it's different in different areas!

Bettythecat · 06/02/2019 22:20

@FlapJackered yes I had that the first couple of weeks before I found out and then for about a week after- crazy vivid dreams and waking up wide awake super early. I've noticed I'm now sleeping more and more deeply- my usual 7:30 alarm feels like it's about 5am the last few days and that's with going to bed early.

@Crossfitgirl I've definitely had an increase in headaches but nothing quite as bad as that I don't think- managed to resist the paracetamols until now. You might well be suffering with the combination of heat and baby and dehydration (even if you are drinking plenty).

My CM has increased again today but this time is white and quite thick- just coz you all wanted to know that on your Wednesday evening 😂I think it's got a name actually? L something? Did anyone else get that?

Bettythecat · 06/02/2019 22:22

@FivexFive my scan appointment got sent to me even before I've had my booking appointment- seems like they just book you in for both at the same time in my area so I think it will just depend really. I can't actually make my booking appointment though as I'm on holiday but I'm having a nightmare trying to rearrange it- have called them three times now via the switchboard and had to leave a message twice and then once spoke to someone but the wrong midwife team was in 🤦‍♀️

Crossfitgirl · 06/02/2019 22:30

@ranchorelaxo thanks, yeah resting seems to help a bit. Just frustrating as I'm on holiday and don't want it to ruin it. I've had paracetamol last night and this morning, it did help today but I also don't wanna take loads. But then it's safe... So I guess why not. I will if I have to. Headaches just make me feel awful! Spose it's better than nausea...
It's so unfair we have to go through all this! Can't DH bloody take some of it instead?? It's half his after all!

At least we get to buy new clothes. I have been proper hanging out of my bikinis as I didn't even think how much my boobs have grown - been wearing comfy stretchy maternity bras, they've obviously stretched with me and I've not noticed... There was actual nipple on accidental show today by the pool as my bikinis are all fitted / padded due to my usual smallness 🙈🙈🙈 whoops! Looked like a right tart! A fat one too as my bump just looks like a huge podge haha!

@fivexfive mine was just a phone call from the midwife the day after my booking appointment to let me know the appointment for the scan, and a letter came maybe about a week later to confirm? Think it just depends where you are as to the process! Xxx

Crossfitgirl · 06/02/2019 22:34

@bettythecat I never had any increased CM. I must be strange! Everyone else seemed to get it!

You're probably right on the heat /baby /dehydration front. Still trying to drink loads. But it's bedtime and I'm gonna need wees all night 😣👣🍼

MrsLBear · 07/02/2019 07:04

@Crossfitgirl I've had a few headaches where I knew they wouldn't go unless I took some paracetamol but actually I have found just taking one is enough which makes me feel better. Even though I know it's perfectly safe. Omg so good to hear that you're feeling better at 13 weeks. I am counting down the days. The physical exhaustion is annoying me cos my brain isn't tired but my body feels like it could collapse. It's not like tiredness from work it's like I've taken something and can't function 😂😂

Oh bless you @EltzBee I thought I had it bad!! Omg brushing my teeth don't even go there. Makes me feel so so sick I dread it every single day. If only I didn't care about my mouth hygiene. I'm drinking like 2 litres of water atm cos I feel horrendously dehydrated all the time but it's a catch 22. Drink too much and I feel sick (did this in the night last night) and drink too little and I feel even worse with a headache. I feel like it's got worse this week I swear. And bouts of heart burn too which just top it off. I do try to eat quite well and regularly but I've put on so much weight cos of it! I don't normally eat so much or such substantial meals!! Good luck with your booking appointment today!! Hope you have a lovely midwife. Makes such a difference to how you feel going into it. Mine was so so nice and just put me at ease completely.

@Bettythecat thanks lovely. I keep telling myself that it must be good and I shouldn't moan. I pray to god I don't have it all the way through. I think I will genuinely lose my marbles and also I will become a recluse cos I don't want to socialise or go our past 5 atm.

@FlapJackered I went from sleeping like a log to being really restless too in the first few weeks and I had quite bad cramping at some stages. To the point where I thought omg this can't be good but I didn't have a speck of blood or anything. Just felt like af was round the corner. How far do you think you are? Sorry if you've said and I've missed it I've been a bit vacant lately.

FlapJackered · 07/02/2019 07:13

@Crossfitgirl you know me! We have decided to have the scan 😄 I think it will be good as I will be a little less stressed out at the 12 week one, as I know there is still a chance things could go wrong but it's much less likely.
I am prone to headaches so not looking forward to that stage. I am not getting any at the moment but it is very early days. As Betty says I would drink loads of water and maybe get your DH to give you a neck and head massage.
Oh no for the nipple spill! 😂 if you end up breast feeding it won't be the last time your nipples are on display to the world. I am quite looking forward to bulging in that department as my boobs have been tiny since coming off the pill.
I have already been looking up maternity clothes. Have you bought much yet?
I am so jealous of your holidaying! Send some sunshine here please!

@FivexFive Sorry you're feeling rough. I am trying to decide whether to get the flu jab or not, I know they recommend it, but it is quite late in the flu season now. I get worried I might have a reaction to it and it effect the baby. I am probably just being a neurotic nutcase though.
Enjoy your long weekend! Have you got any plans?

@Bettythecat That is good to know, I can't wait to actually sleep to my alarm again. I am getting like 5/6 hours of sleep at the moment which is not enough for me. Normally I am an 8 hour girl! Also DH woke me up for sex last night and I couldn't get back to sleep for ages 😤
My CM hasn't really changed yet. I've got all of that to look forward to!

FlapJackered · 07/02/2019 07:17

@MrsLBear I am only 4+4 so very early stages. I wonder if it's partly my unconscious mind trying to process being pregnant that is affecting my sleep.
I am surprised I haven't had any spotting yet either. Have you had any at all since you found out?

EltzBee · 07/02/2019 08:37

@FlapJackered I sleep really badly the first week or so, not sure if it was due to anything in particular our because my hear was processing it! Currently keep asking up in the night again to but that's usually cos I need a wee and couple times and so thirsty need water too!

@MrsLBear @Crossfitgirl I've not had too many headaches so far but when I do they last for ages! I reported to a single paracetamol yesterday to try and take the edge off it.

Just trying some tea and toast before we head off to booking appointment. I think early morning appointments in pregnancy are a mean joke!!!

Crossfitgirl · 07/02/2019 08:55

@mrslbear 1 para doesn't cut it for a druggie like me 😂 need 2!

@flapjackered yeah spose I best get used to the nipple exposure! I'm normally a 34B and my boobs now look significantly fuller, I'm interested to get measured again! I have actual cleavage now! DH Loves it! Lol.

What week will you get the scan? You know, it wouldn't surprise me if they date you not as far along as 4+4. Do you know what CD you ovd and how many dpo you were when you got BFP? as I was only 3+4 the day I found out and had a bog standard cd14 ovulation that month, but like you it was the first possible detection as I had the negative the day before. I'm only guessing though! Could be totally wrong. And they did date me 3 days further along at my scan.

Also have a look on Groupon /wowcher for scan deals, as I found one for the clinic I had already been looking at for just £40. They seem to have loads on there.

First thing I got was maternity jeans at literally about 8 weeks as I was soooo bloated. I got some H&m ones, they are amazing. Sooo comfy. I also got a bundle of maternity tops for £10 of Facebook marketplace but I'm not that keen on them so plan to go to mamas and papas or mothercare outlets to see if there's owt decent. I think I prefer loose and floaty whereas the ones I got are all quite tight to show off your bump.

Here's some ☀️☀️☀️🌞

Crossfitgirl · 07/02/2019 09:29

@eltzbee good luck at your booking appt. Hope they are lovely and you don't feel too awful at it! Think @delilah7 had to take a sick bowl to all her appts!

I was suuuure I felt something move in bed this morning. A tiny little flutter in my lower abdomen. A bit like a twitch. I got all excited! Then googled when you can feel baby move and it seems really unlikely at 13+6 for a first pregnancy.
Now I'm trying to figure out if it was just wind. Maybe it was. But I hope it was baby! It was sooo active at the 12 week scan, and I'm sure cos I seem to have popped ps early my tummy muscles must be shit and maybe I DID feel it. Ooh I don't know! Xx

Delilah7 · 07/02/2019 09:37

@Crossfitgirl @EltzBee yep I always had to take it with me lol.

I felt a flutter at 16 weeks and a few days felt like bubbling and midwife confirmed it weirdly lol xx

FlapJackered · 07/02/2019 09:46

@Crossfitgirl oh god I don't know? Fertility friend told me I was due 14th October from when I ovulated. I put that in to the apps and they say I am 4+4? I am not sure how to work it out? So confused!
I was thinking of getting the scan at 8 weeks.
That is so exciting about the baby moving!! I am sure if it was wriggling away on the scan there's a good chance you would be able to feel it?

ChaosMoon · 07/02/2019 11:09

@FlapJackered I think my favourite thing about that photo is how angry it somehow looks! I'm afraid I've slept terribly throughout and it's only gotten worse. If I get a couple hours now, that's a good night. I hope you have better luck with sleep than me!

@FivexFive I had the letter with my scan date before I'd been to my booking appointment. Everywhere does it so differently!

That sucks that you're feeling like that in holiday @Crossfitgirl. But how exciting to feel it move! I've felt it since 16 weeks, for definite, just as @Delilah7 described. I think most people don't feel it that early for their first just because they don't know what to look out for. It could be though!

How are you doing now Delilah7? I hope things are getting better.

Good luck today @eltzbee. Hope you're feeling well enough to enjoy it.

Delilah7 · 07/02/2019 11:14

@ChaosMoon hopefully that's what I felt anyways. Wish I felt it more at the moment but haven't noticed it a lot again.
I had a relapse on the weekend but other than that I'm ok. Sorry I've been so crap on here but I just haven't had capacity in my little brain lol. Xx

Bettythecat · 07/02/2019 11:27

@Delilah7 what do you mean a relapse? Are you ok?? Xx

Shout out to whoever it was who recommended the PG Tips Tasty Decaf by the way!! It's almost exactly like normal tea!! A million times better than the Yorkshire Tea version which tastes like soil! 🙌

sunshine1987 · 07/02/2019 11:37

@flapjackered NHS will do your dates based on last period, so would do their calculator to get your dates. They then change them at your 12 week scan and that remains your date throughout then x

ChaosMoon · 07/02/2019 11:44

Don't apologise @Delilah7, I've gone through periods where I didn't have the brain power to keep up with it too. This growing a human business is exhausting!

Sorry to hear you had a bad weekend. I take it that was with sickness again. Had it calmed down since? I hope so. 💐

@Bettythecat that's a win worth celebrating!

Delilah7 · 07/02/2019 12:02

@Bettythecat was really unwell again on the weekend. Sick for the first time in weeks and it was so draining in the second trimester. I thought first was hard!! Xx

@ChaosMoon I'd been much better since being on Odansatron everyday! However I've not got a rash between my big boobies which is itching like MAD xxx

EltzBee · 07/02/2019 12:07

@Bettythecat haha that was me glad you like it! It does taste exactly like normal tea which is good.

Booking appointment went fine, really nice midwife. Had a naughty vein that didn't want to play ball so took couple attempts to get bloods! Didn't realise the blue notes were so big! Was expecting a little a5 booklet but they're huuuge lol.

Just got up wait now till next Friday for our scan. The midwife did say they'll update my due date then too. I know I didn't ovulate till day 17 so potentially might get pushed a couple days later. But depends when he implanted and things too so who knows!

Not been sick today (hurrah!) Just nausea. Quite tired again so may go and have a nap.

@Crossfitgirl hope the headache doesn't come back today!

sunshine1987 · 07/02/2019 17:47

@eltzbee I ovulated later than the standard day 14 but got my due date put forward for a days so there’s really no way of telling lol x
