@flapjackered... 'it looks like a clitoris with a balloon attached' is literally the best description of anything I have ever heard. Ever 😂

I didn't get a pack from my midwife, just a booklet on screening options. She did say she was going to post me some stuff, I think about getting free prescriptions etc, so will wait for that. Am feeling super impatient for a scan now, just to confirm there is actually something in there?! Feb can jog on already, it's all about March already... Scan and exam results!! Xx

Crossfitgirl · 04/02/2019 23:06

@flapjackered haha shrimp! Oh I have pregnancy+ too but I don't go on it, the 3d stuff is defo freaky! I did the same and just never deleted the ones I didn't like. Omg 5 more tests!!! When do you plan to take them?

@fivexfive time goes soooooo slowly up to that scan. Like. Literally time goes 100x slower! Only a few weeks til march though!

Xx

RanchoRelaxo · 05/02/2019 06:42

@Bettythecat @SullyWifey oh so jealous for the spice girls! Enjoy I'm sure it will be great 😁

I'm also having some very weird dreams, lots of people are telling me that's something they had too but some of them are just so strange! Also having a lot of sex dreams 😳 haha

ChaosMoon · 05/02/2019 07:51

😂 Well I've enjoyed my morning catch up. @flapjackered I've always found 4D scans a little creepy but now I understand why. Your DH is a genius!

And @RanchoRelaxo if you have to have vivid dreams, sex dreams have to be a win, right?

Bettythecat · 05/02/2019 08:42

Morning ladies! I love it when you're all chatty on here! These days I enjoy catching up with the chat on here maybe even more than catching up with my real life friends on WhatsApp!!

@FlapJackered I've got the Pregnancy + app and I think I like it better than the Ovia one which I also tried. I agree though that the images are seriously weird. My DH was flicking through them the other day and was like "that looks like the stuff of nightmares"..."that looks like it would crawl into my ear at night and hatch it's own eggs" 😂😂. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and thank goodness it starts looking a bit more human from that point on!

@FivexFive haha the image of the first four rows being pregnant ladies really made me chuckle! I hope it's like that although maybe slightly tragic 🤦‍♀️🤣

I'm also counting down the days to my scan to the point I'm really tempted to have an early one at 8/9 weeks. I have this fear that I'll go to the 12 week one and they will say it hasn't grown like it should or there is no baby in he sac 😱 at least if I had an early scan I would know that before the 12 week scan. Anyone else had an early scan or thinking of one? What are your thoughts on it?

I've also had some vivid dreams too although nothing as scary as yours yet thank god and no sex dreams sadly!! In the first week or so that was one of the symptoms I had- these mad vivid dreams which were like being in a film!

FlapJackered · 05/02/2019 09:55

Here is the offending Clitoris and balloon! 😂😂

@Bettythecat that's hilarious! 😂 it definitely does look like a kind of creature that would crawl into your ear at night 😂😂
I am wondering whether to get a private scan done early too. They are £50 near me which i don't think is too bad for peace of mind. Like you I am just worried about getting all excited for the scan and then seeing that it hasn't happened 😕

@Crossfitgirl I know ridiculous right!? I will probably take one tomorrow to check the line has got stronger from Sunday. Then I have got a days of the week one (just for fun!) then the others are just for if I have a wobbly moment and need to check I am still pregnant! There was a deal on ok!! 😂

@FivexFive I can imagine! I am impatient already and I have only just had my bfp!

RanchoRelaxo · 05/02/2019 10:05

@FlapJackered 😂😂😂😂😂 what even is that??! The most un-baby looking thing possible, apart from a bubbly clit it could also be a hippos mouth.. the bottom bit looks like a ballbag too 😂👍

@ChaosMoon 😂 I will take my dreams over the scary ones anyday haha, think my DH was a bit jealous when I told him cause haven't felt like sex much recently (probs cause of all the dream sex)

@Bettythecat I had an early scan when I was around 9 weeks, it was amazing and so worth the money, it was an actual baby shape and moved too! I cried the whole time from pulling into the carpark though because I was sure there was going to be nothing there 😂 bet the staff thought I was mad, although I bet they've seen that all before!

EltzBee · 05/02/2019 10:16

@Bettythecat @FlapJackered we ruled out a private scan at 8/9 weeks in the end, only because of the risk that whilst you could get a positive scan then, it could still change between then and 12 weeks which for me would still make me anxious worrying between the scans. I'm a worrier though!

I know for some it's peace of mind that if it's there then, that the risk is lower of something going wrong though.

So just depends on you really. I also didn't want to have to have an internal scan which a lot of them say you may need to have that early, as it's not always clear from a tummy scan.

Sorry if that wasn't the most helpful of answers! We are thinking of having a private scan between the Dating Scan and Anomoly Scan (all being well of course) to find out the gender, and then potentially another scan much later on.

Got back from the GP and I've been signed off for 10 days. They said if it does get better before then I can go back if I want to but some employers don't let you etc. The GP doesn't think I'm likely to be anaemic as my test results from 6 months ago or so for things were in the 'normal' range and advised against taking anything other than my pregnacare and folic supplement, but has asked for extra blood tests for my B12 and Iron to be done on Thursday at my midwife appointment. Under strict instructions to rest and to try and keep snacking/eating throughout the day and to try a variety even if it's sweet things to try and improve my energy. I've been trying to eat but feeling so nauseas to the thought of food doesn't always help!! Catch-22 really. They have put on my sicknote that I'm pregnant, so work can't use this time off against me as it's pregnancy related sickness (apparently the law looks after us there).

So lots of reading and relaxing and Netflix for me, and trying to munch foods. Also she suggested sipping a variety of drinks not just water, cuppa soups and the like which is a good idea. Will be asking DH to pick some up for me.

EltzBee · 05/02/2019 10:19

@FlapJackered Uhhh what on earth is that picture?! Is that meant to the be the embryo?! That's so freaky.

@RanchoRelaxo I'm jealous of your dreams, mine have all been weird ones. The night before last I had a dream where my baby was growing inside a cave instead of my belly, but we could go visit him - but weirdly my Mum had painted the cave walls (?) and told us off for going in to see him cos she'd just painted. Then I had a weird one where I was having afternoon tea with Meghan and Harry! Bizarre. Had some scary ones too. So odd!

Crossfitgirl · 05/02/2019 11:11

@eltzbee I'm so glad you've got a bit of time off now to rest and try feel better. I had an array of different cordials to drink as I kept going off the one I liked the day before, and just eat whatever the hell you want. I found yoghurt, cereal and rich tea biccies easiest. And don't think about food. Thinking about its worse than eating it.

@flapjackered @bettythecat I'm on the same page as eltzbee on early scans. I was terrified there would be no baby, or it stopped developing etc before the 12 week scan and I'd be told I'd MMC. Though things like that are very, very rare with no bleeding etc to warn you. I really wanted an early scan, but DH reminded me that things can go wrong at any point, even between scans, and I've read that an early reassurance scan can make it ten times worse for you if something does go on to go wrong before the next one, as you are not prepared. We decided to wait (and tbh I would never have got round to booking one anyway as I felt so shit lol). By the time I felt well enough the 12 week scan was only about 3 weeks away. Though others on here have had successful scans, it's completely up to you.

We are having a gender scan between 12 and 20 week scans and I think that's worth more to me :-) so excited to find out if it's a girl or boy!

Gotta go but will reply to others later, just off for a walk on the beach!

Xxx

Bettythecat · 05/02/2019 11:25

@Crossfitgirl i think I'm a bit more paranoid about it as my cousin who I am close to has had two missed miscarriages in a row where the embryo stopped growing inside her and she continued with having awful pregnancy symptoms and sickness. She actually saw the heartbeat the second time and then at the next scan it had stopped. Just awful. But I think knowing how rare that is and seeing it all going ok might reassure me a bit but then again you're right maybe it would make it harder...

@RanchoRelaxo thank you for sharing that it was amazing for you- it makes me want to have one more I think so I think we will look into it. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow so another 6 weeks just seems like forever to wait. Which scan company did you use? I'm London based so there are lots round here but would be good to have a recommendation if there is a branch here too.

@EltzBee I'm so pleased you've got the time off work and that you won't be penalised for it. Definitely just focus on trying to feel a bit more normal and don't feel guilty about not being at work- you're doing something much more important right now!

SullyWifey · 05/02/2019 12:20

@FlapJackered

Haha I love that clitoris picture. I too use that app and was like WTF?!

I totally get all the points everyone saying about early scans pros and cons. Think you just gotta decide between yourself and DH.

We did have one and it was amazing. It was at 8.5 and we saw the little whale shape baby with its heart beating away. I felt so relived after that point. I think also after trying for so long I needed to see it to believe it.

Of course there was the worry that something could go wrong between then and 12 weeks but I just put that to one side. Compared to my friend who is just a couple days behind me, She didn't have an early scan because of the reasons everyone has said on here, and she was a bag of nerves leading up to hers, not sleeping or eating and just addicted to reading MMC stories. She said in hindsight she wished she had one.

Xx

@FlapJackered @Bettythecat I’m having an early scan on Friday, I’ll be 7+2. I couldn’t stand waiting for another 5-6 weeks, I just want proof that something is in there. I’ll be telling my parents after the scan too.
Twins run in my family so I also want confirmation that there’s only one in there!

AnnaMC214 · 05/02/2019 13:17

I've been following this early scan pros and cons conversation with great interest and I can totally understand both points of view. I still can't decide. I'm a huge worrier and I'm not sure if it'd make me feel better or not. I've already had to completely limit my Googling and on MN I only really look at this thread as otherwise I seem to be bombarded with horror stories.
@stormtrooperjulian good luck for Friday and I'd love to hear how you find it xx

starkid · 05/02/2019 15:53

Aww I miss you all xx marking my place so I can be nosy Grin

FivexFive · 05/02/2019 17:36

Hi ladies! Just had my flu jab, it was OK but waiting to see if there are any side effects... Oooo the anticipation!!

Just caught up an the early / extra scan debates. Personally I think we will wait for the 12 week scan. However, I may try to pursuade dh we could have an extra, in between scan at 16 weeks, to tell what we're having a little before the standard 20 week scan? But will see how I feel nearer the time.

sunshine1987 · 05/02/2019 18:31

To me the 8 week scan was the reassurance I needed, having found out before 4 weeks that wait was awful. Plus for us we wanted to tell our family at Christmas so had it just before then. I looked into the figures and the risk of miscarriage after 8 weeks and seeing a heartbeat were so low it helped me. Such a personal choice, and I never felt pregnant so helped with that regard too x

FlapJackered · 05/02/2019 21:25

Good points on both sides. I think we might just play it by ear and see how we feel nearer the time, I am so impatient though so we probably will!
My boobs feel like they are going to drop off today.

FlapJackered · 05/02/2019 21:26

@starkid down those Isoflavones and come and join us!!

RanchoRelaxo · 05/02/2019 22:02

@Bettythecat it was with window to the womb, there are loads of their centres around the country and I would imagine some in London! Think it was £59 for my early scan, but I just told myself that's what me and dh would roughly spend on a meal for a night out, and I will never forgot that feeling when I first saw the baby :)

MrsLBear · 06/02/2019 07:00

I totally get why some would want to do the early scan. I was so so tempted but my DH said he wants to wait for some reason so I just went with it. I think cos I was on the fence anyway. I'm 9 weeks today and my scan is 2 weeks on Friday. I've got mine when I'm 11+2 so relatively early compared to some. If I had to wait until 13 weeks or on I would have definitely done it.
I was sick for the first time last night. I definitely suffer from night time sickness not morning sickness. Wish it wasn't called that. It's horrendous. I just sat and cried cos I didn't know how to make myself better.
Those that are 12/13 weeks on. Does it just completely subside? Please tell me it does!

Bettythecat · 06/02/2019 08:54

Morning girls! Thanks for all your posts on this it was so helpful and interesting to read everyone's different views. We've decided to go ahead with one and have booked with the Birth Company bang on 8 weeks according to my app which is 2 weeks today. It was a bit more expensive because we have booked an evening appointment so that we don't have to take time off work and it's also on Harley Street so I'm hoping it's a bit "posh" so we can make it into a real treat! @RanchoRelaxo totally agree with you that it's what you would spend on a night out- I'm justifying the cost that way and also figure that it's something really special so is worth it.

@sunshine1987 I think I'll feel the same way as you if we do see a heartbeat. Was reading that the rates of mc go down to about 2% if you have seen the heartbeat at 8 weeks so that would be massively reassuring I think. I'm also the same as you and don't really feel pregnant yet- I know it's early days but I'm not feeling terrible or anything at all. I was really expecting to get pregnant and then have all the symptoms immediately but it doesn't seem to have been that way so far!

@SullyWifey our experience of the scan sounds amazing. I really hope ours is the same! I just hope I get to 8 weeks and that all is going well. I can't help but worry and have made the mistake of googling mc- it's the missed mc that really scares me ☹️

@stormtrooperjulian let us know how your scan goes on Friday- how exciting! I hope it's amazing.

Bettythecat · 06/02/2019 08:57

@MrsLBear I'm sorry you're having night sickness and that you're feeling so crap. I know it's probably not very reassuring but try to see it as a sign that your body is doing what it should be and that all your hormones are raging to keep your little one growing. I'm not sure about when it subsides as I'm quite a long way behind you but I've read that for most people it gets better after the first trimester when your hormones stabilise but that then again some women can have it on and off right the way through!! Hopefully yours will start to go soon though! Xxx

EltzBee · 06/02/2019 10:56

Morning ladies. Will very glad I'm off today, been sick 6 times already 😪🤢

Have also had a banging headache that woke me up in the night and still won't go away. Have taken a paracetamol tablet which had dulled the edges a bit.

@MrsLBear it really is badly named, mine is all day and night! If you can eat, eat, whatever it is! I find if I drink water with food it makes it worse and more likely to vomit. Also sit down when doing your teeth as doing my teeth before bed when nauseas makes it worse bizarrely if I'm standing by the sink?!?!

DH got me since cuppa soup yesterday so going to hope they'll help me drink more with a few calories too. When I weighed myself last week I'd lost 8 lbs since Xmas from sickness and nausea.

Really hope you find some ways to manage it. I'm a week or so ahead of you I think but can't lie it's got worse the past week or two not better. I'm 10+4 now.

Get quick food in and keep crackers by the bed. I've had to eat one in the night when I've woken up feeling sick a few times.

Theoretically it is meant to start improving between 12 and 14weeks. My friend had it till 16 week's. We're all different though!

Got my booking in appointment tomorrow morning.

mrsof20118 · 06/02/2019 18:23

Sorry to hear you are so sick @EltzBee

Had another wave of fatigue hit me this week. Think it's a combination of post move stress and working a bit extra.
