Hello. I thought I'd start a thread for anyone that has had the good news that they are due October 2019. We can go through these looong early weeks together.

I'm 33, first pregnancy
Cycle 6
Currently cycle day 21/12 doo. First BFP at 10 dpo.

I am now testing daily to see if my BFPs are getting stronger. Also still checking temps. Anyone else feel like they have to tip toe around at this stage as everything seems so fragile?

I am 5 weeks and 4 days, have scan booked for next Wednesday to confirm everything is ok and as it should be.

I am still checking everymorning with the cheapie pregnancy tests and the test line has been much stronger then the control line for a good while now, but I have hardly any symptoms at all apart from not feeling hugely hungry, just have a feeling of being full all the time, anyone else feel that?

We are having a early scan as its part of our IVF package, I can totally understand why people pay for a private scan, as you just need to know whats going on in there!! I think at £80 its worth it for peace of mind!!! xx

You can eat sour cream! The main things to really avoid is liver/pate due to high levels of vitamin A, and unpasteurised soft cheeses (Brie, Camembert etc). Some supermarket do pasteurised versions that you can eat.

The advice on nuts seems to change year to year, but I believe the current stance on it is that they’re safe to eat.

Hiya everyone, I'm almost 8 weeks and I've had some watery brown discharge, is that normal? I've got a really bad cold so not sure whether that's related. I had it once before early in the pregnancy and I have had sharp pains on and off.

I had a mmc in Nov at 9 weeks with brown then pink then red spotting so I'm paranoid it's happening again, or that it's an ectopic pregnancy.

I phoned the gp when I first had some brown spotting and he said don't worry unless it turns into heavy bleeding and was quite dismissive tbh. I have a midwife appointment, should I just wait and raise it then?

Lou0712 · 21/02/2019 10:33

@HarryPottersSecretSister I was just reading through the messages on here (am 8+3) and wanted to get in touch re crohns and lletz as I have both issues too.

I, like you, have been in remission for the past year and control my symptoms through diet, not meds. I saw my IBD nurse last night and she said pregnancy can either give people flares or be amazing for crohns! She said I have to see her every 3 months for monitoring as it is not good to have flares during pregnancy and if I have any symptoms I need to call her. So I would advise getting in touch with your IBD nurse if you have one or if not, speaking to your GP about this. The issue is with premature labour but just keep an eye on things and make sure you are proactive if you notice any symptoms.

Re LLETZ, I have had 24mm taken away in 2 procedures. I saw my gynaecologist about this and he advised that due to the amount of my cervix I have had removed, I will need a stitch put in early 2nd trimester. I contacted my midwife and booked in to see an obs to discuss on 2nd April. If you haven't had much removed, they will just scan your cervix length at regular intervals I am told. Make sure you mention this to your midwife at your booking in appointment.

Hope that helps! I have been desperate to get some reassurance re stitch but haven't come across anyone who has been advised a preventative stitch on here recently!

Hope everyone is doing well! I feel quite lucky...just sore boobs and early (8pm!) bedtimes for me, other than that I feel ok. Odd twinge here and there...

I had an early dating scan at 6+6 and saw the little heartbeat which was amazing! Hoping everything continues to go well....

Frizzy1986 · 21/02/2019 10:40

Well early scan confirms 7+5 which is exactly what I thought. Heartbeat seen and only 1 in there. I know it's no guarantee but I've read that miscarriage drops to less than 5% once a heartbeat is seen past 7 weeks so I guess that's got to be something.

Glitterandunicorns · 21/02/2019 10:43

@Frizzy1986 yay! That's fantastic news! So pleased for you. It must be a big relief.

I've got my scan this afternoon (8 weeks today). I had some red spotting at about five weeks and some red spotting on Monday and needless to say I'm anxious to the max, particularly after a MC last year. At least we'll know this afternoon one way or another.

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 21/02/2019 11:02

@Lou0712 I have just seen you message about the LEETZ, I also am looking for information as like you have been told I will need a stitch put in.

Lou0712 · 21/02/2019 11:06

@PositiveThinkingRainbow - Sorry to hear that but nice to know someone else is going through it. Have you seen an obs yet or been told when you will need it to be done?
Gynae told me week 13 but hospital said week 16 so am very confused. I will let you know what my midwife says when I discuss with her tomorrow.

Frizzy1986 · 21/02/2019 11:12

Fx @glitterandunicorns. Think chances of a successful pg after a heartbeat at 8 weeks is like 98% so it's a good time to have an early scan. We'd have waited but off work this week and inlaws could watch dd.
I had a bit of spotting on Tuesday which worried me even though I remember having some with dd.
I'll still be concerned at every niggle until the 12 week scan but feel that at least its going as it should so far.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 21/02/2019 12:57

@Lou0712 that is so incredibly helpful - thanks a million.
I have no idea how much was taken during my Lletz but I'm going to make sure to bring it up at my booking in appointment.

Have a routine consultant's check up appointment scheduled for next month so I'll chat her then too.

I'm sorry you've had the same experiences - it's hard going. Although I will admit that it is nice in a way to have someone in the same boat. Delighted to hear you've been in remission for the past year- long may it continue!
Please keep me posted on how things go for you x

HarryPottersSecretSister · 21/02/2019 12:59

Huge congratulations to our new people! 🎉❤️

@Frizzy1986 so delighted to hear scan went well. I was thinking of you. All sounds really, really positive.

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 21/02/2019 13:36

@Lou0712 @HarryPottersSecretSister
I am wondering if my oncologist, who is also an early pregnancy scan specialist has advised my IVF clinic about needing to know by 9 weeks so they monitor me?
Would love to hear how you both get on and share any news/advice I get from my consultant. xxx

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 21/02/2019 13:38

@Lou0712 @HarryPottersSecretSister I have started a separate thread called....
"Pregnant after 2 x LLETZ treatments for Cervical Cancer, advised I will need a "Surgical Suture" by 9 weeks?"

Will be interesting to see if I get any feed back from other ladies who are or have been in our situation, you may want to join? xx

Lou0712 · 21/02/2019 13:46

@PositiveThinkingRainbow Great, I will join your thread and see what feedback we get. As I said, I will make sure to let you know tomorrow what the midwife says.

@HarryPottersSecretSister I am glad you found it helpful! Definitely mention it to your consultant - they are the ones who performed the procedure and can give you the best advice and mine has given me a letter to give to my midwife.

Hope you both do well and keep in touch!

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 21/02/2019 14:27

@Lou0712 @HarryPottersSecretSister

The link below gives a really good explanation of our cervix situation:

www.tommys.org/pregnancy-complications/prem-birth/treatment/cervical-incompetence

Frizzy1986 · 21/02/2019 15:46

Fyi my cousin has had some abnormal cervix cells removed previously and she is almost 20 weeks. She has had regular scans (transvaginal I believe) to check her cervix length and they have said if it gets close to dropping below a certain length then they would probably put a stitch in.
Shes said that it's been dealt with well and has been closely monitored. She's also managed a few extra sneaky peaks of her baby due to the additional scans.

melissa1215 · 21/02/2019 16:39

Anyone else finding they're having to eat that little bit more? I had a 4 hour gap between my breakfast and lunch and almost passed out

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 21/02/2019 16:56

@melissa1215 I am the opposite, I do not feel sick just very full and do not really fancy eating!! Which is very unlike me!!!

melissa1215 · 21/02/2019 17:00

@PostiveThinkingRainbow really? I've had the occasional bouts of nausea but I'm finding it I don't eat little and often I feel sick, it's so strange, I know what you mean about the full feeling though I feel very bloated all the time

flowersaremyfave · 21/02/2019 17:10

@melissa1215 I had that with my last pregnancy. Had to eat all the time to keep the nausea at bay 🙈 was really weird.

brandyberry · 21/02/2019 17:28

@melissa1215 I’ve had horrid nausea all week, and I’ve found that I’m having to constantly snack just to make it more bearable. I’ve lost my appetite for a lot of food, so it’s a challenge to find something I can stomach, but it means I can get on with life and not feel like I just want to curl up on the sofa. Is this your first pregnancy?

BLS1983 · 21/02/2019 17:59

Hi all may I join? Just about 5 weeks preggers and edd is 23rd Oct :-)

WhiteVixen · 21/02/2019 18:00

Definite loss of appetite here. Nausea has been better the last couple of days.

I’ve caved and booked an early scan. I’ll be 8+1 hopefully. I’m not sure on my dates exactly as I don’t have regular cycles and I had an odd bleed that I thought at the time was my period so I’m a bit unsure what, if anything, they’ll be able to see. But the wait to 12 weeks is killing me after my experience last time (mmc/blighted ovum in 2013 that basically wasn’t found until the 12 week scan). Only two weeks to wait.

flowersaremyfave · 21/02/2019 18:06

Welcome @BLS1983 and congratulations 🎉
