Hello. I thought I'd start a thread for anyone that has had the good news that they are due October 2019. We can go through these looong early weeks together.

I'm 33, first pregnancy
Cycle 6
Currently cycle day 21/12 doo. First BFP at 10 dpo.

I am now testing daily to see if my BFPs are getting stronger. Also still checking temps. Anyone else feel like they have to tip toe around at this stage as everything seems so fragile?

@sal1987 yes I’m completely with you - feeling very anxious about everything I feel. It’s hard to know if twinges are normal or if there’s anything to be worried about. Hopefully we’ll all feel a lot more peace of mind after the first trimester.

I’ve been told that it gets a lot easier once you’ve shared your news with someone. I’m planning to tell my best friend and parents this weekend. @sal1987 have you told anyone yet? I’m only 5+5 so I know it’s really early but I just can’t keep it to just myself and my husband any more

Oh - and writing this while I have insomnia - anyone else suffering from that?

Tora4 · 20/02/2019 06:40

@Debsnatb, hi, I did tell my best friend, I just needed her so much, and honestly she has been amazing, we live miles from each other but just being able to ask anything has been great along with this group.

I'm also struggling to sleep- been awake since 3am.... but haven't slept well for a while so not sure if it's pregnancy related or now habit.

I'm back in work today and have the signs of morning sickness- dreading hiding this from my team.... Going in a little later so hoping it pass? Or am I being too hopeful?

flowersaremyfave · 20/02/2019 07:56

Morning all. I haven't been struck yet with morning sickness , but am finding myself waking every morning and the first thing thinking "has it hit me yet" 🙈 I don't think I'll cope if I get that again!! Still got the headaches all day though and the awful bloating feeling. Can't even do up my jeans 😬

Danifew · 20/02/2019 08:52

Hi All

only just joined mumsnet and just seen this post. I found on saturday I was pregnant this is my first pregnancy. I am about 4 weeks 7 days and due end of october. Been slightly worried though as been having cramps since sunday and last night they got worse with back pain, no bleeding has anyone else experienced this also had some strange thigh pain too?

Secretlifeofme · 20/02/2019 09:34

Hi @Danifew, I am at a very similar stage to you, 5 weeks tomorrow and also having cramps without bleeding :( mine are a bit like period pains but not so severe. I don't really know if it's normal or not but I have had two miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy before so I am a bit worried. If there's anyone who's had a successful pregnancy before and had these cramps, I'd love some reassurance.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 20/02/2019 09:41

Danifew welcome and congratulations!
cramping, period like pains or a strange pulling/ stretching feeling in your lower stomach are a very normal early pregnancy symptom. Many of us here have had/ are having them and I was reading the 'what to expect' weekly update and it says the same. I also had these pains when pregnant with my 3 children. Not sure about the thigh pain.

Sal1987 Yep! I am a ball of worry and anxiety. Ridiculously so. I hope the next few weeks fly for us all.

Debsnatb and Tora4 I'm the exact opposite! I am absolutely exhausted. I've went to bed at 8.30 almost every night this week and feel really sleepy in work..

Flowersaremyfave really sympathising over the headaches. They are awful when you cant take something strong to relieve the pain (I had them with my son). You poor love.

The bloating here is ridiculous. You know those women on the telly who have a perfect bump which only appears around month 5 or 6? yeah - that'd definitely not me. I don't know how I'm going to hide this. Currently wearing a lot of huge scarves.

Is anyone else experiencing ridiculous irrational mood swings/ irritability/ annoyance at everything?.
I was in a really good mood yesterday. At 8 o'clock everything started to make me angry so I told dh I was going to bed before I started an argument with the dog, the wall, my fingernails and him for no reason.
This morning I woke up and wanted to cry. For absolutely no reason.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 20/02/2019 09:42

Secretlifeofme I promise you I had the worst period pains with my first pregnancy (which is why I didnt realise I was pregnant until almost 9 weeks as I was so sure my period was coming)

She is 13 and perfect.

I had the same pains with my son and my second daughter. Both are very well and currently at home wrecking my house.

It's very normal.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 20/02/2019 09:44

Actually, the only pregnancy (of mine! we all experience things differently) that I had no such pains with was my second pregnancy (or really any other symptoms to be honest) - miscarried at 8 weeks.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 20/02/2019 09:47

From the 'what to expect' app:

'Don't worry! a feeling of pressure in your tummy or even crampiness without bleeding is very common, especially in first pregnancies, and is usually a sign that everything is going right, not that something's wrong. What you're feeling may be the sensation of embryo implantation, increased blood flow, the thickening of the uterine lining or even the growth of your uterus (and it could be just gas pains).'

Frizzy1986 · 20/02/2019 10:32

Welcome all newbies. Spotting has stopped for now which is good but getting some proper aches right down low on both sides. Think my boobs are less swollen and achy today too but they have come and gone throughout so far so hoping not an ominous sign.
Counting down to the scan tomorrow which might make me feel a bit better.
Am feeling super tired at the moment and the sickness is on and off constantly. I feel ill at the thought of most food but when I actually eat, it tends to make it better. I'm trying to munch little and often.
Parents have now gone home, but thankfully dh is off work for the rest of half term, but not sure if he will be as proactive in looking after me as they were

Danifew · 20/02/2019 10:53

Hi
@secretlifeofme i know what you mean in needing reassurance but been doing some reading and it seems quite normal so hopefully all fingers crossed I feel a bit better now I have been out and walked the dogs. When are you due? I think I am due about the 24th october.
Thankyou harrypotterssceretsister for sending that information it makes me less worried.
Frizzy86 good luck with your scan tomorrow. When did your morning sickness start?

klanger19 · 20/02/2019 10:56

Eating small amounts regularly and keeping your brain busy but your body relaxing has been recommended to me by my sister in law! Seems to be working so far. Can't face full meals but lots of snacks seems to keep sickness at bay. We are bound to question every symptom we have - particularly those of us who are going through this for the first time. I just keep reminding myself my body has never done this before so everything is normal!

sal1987 · 20/02/2019 11:02

@HarryPottersSecretSister thanks for putting that up. I have had constant period pains, it's always there but at the moment it's bearable. I seem to have a lot of watery CM today too which I'm taking as a good sign too.

I literally don't feel like eating anything but trying to eat often (although have yet to eat anything today 🙄🙄)

Secretlifeofme · 20/02/2019 12:17

@HarryPottersSecretSister thank you so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to put all that info up Flowers I definitely feel better now!

@Danifew hey! We are due date buddies! I'm due on 24th October too :), well as far as I know anyway! Do you have any other symptoms apart from the cramping? My symptoms seem to come and go at the moment. I feel nauseous on and off. Yesterday I had to go to the loo constantly but that wasn't so bad today. The only constant symptom I have is sore boobs at the moment.

secretlyhermione · 20/02/2019 12:58

Hi all! I'm 5 weeks 6 days, today's my first GP appointment to confirm next steps and book in the first scan!

Have already done the blood tests and all seems fine, only thing is my results were negative for toxoplasmosis which means a greater risk of contracting it if I'm not careful! The food thing is really hard... I'm not a big meat eater in general, but at lunch with colleagues today I had a roast and I started doubting how well cooked it was so left a lot there (really hard as well to freak out openly when your colleagues don't know anything!)

So far symptoms have been very sore boobs (gone up two sizes already) and some mild cramps here and there, and very very tired. My bed time is pretty much 9.30 most nights now.

How is everyone else holding up? Any dieting tips for the next 9 months? I'm thinking I might just start bringing my food to the office to be on the safe side!

Frizzy1986 · 20/02/2019 13:17

@danifew my nausea started pretty much dead on 6 weeks.
I'm on number 2 but the fear is still there. You completely forget what happened last time so question everything.
Have spent the morning wandering round ikea so it's nice to be sat down. Haven't felt that sick though which is again terrifying.

I'm pretty sure that the symptoms tend to stop after the event if it does go wrong anyway so it shouldnt really terrify me. Usually the first thing that happens is bleeding and cramps (from friends who've been through it)
Just holding on until tomorrow and hoping.

Danifew · 20/02/2019 13:40

@secretlifeofme hey due date buddy. I have this extreme cramping with some back pain and then this odd ache in my legs which feels very strange and cant really explain. I have felt a bit tired but no more than usual as i do shift work so my sleep is all over the place as for nausea it comes and goes but just waves that last seconds I am hoping it wont get too bad on that front my appetite is still all there lol. I have the sore boobs but they only appear saw now if I knock them or touch them so not too bad. I am def going to the toilet a lot at the moment and one of the reason I took the test when I did, my colleagues noticed to and said I may have a uti so i just played along with that and saying the abx are making me feel nauseas as I dont want them to know yet lol

@secretlyhermonie dont worry too much about food eat what you want its the perfect time and diet after I just ate whole pizza to myself which I normally share with the dogs but they didnt get any this time. How did you get bloods done so early?

@frizzy1986 thank you letting me know when yours started I just feel a bit nauseas but no vomiting and it has not affected my appetite, but i know everyone is different and every pregnancy is, dont worry about not being nausea this may be just a different type pregnancy

Thank you all for the support just so nice to have others to talk to and discuss experiences with while its to early to tell people close to me

secretlyhermione · 20/02/2019 14:20

@Danifew The blood tests were just out of luck really. I went to the gyno end of Jan for a routine "pre-conception" check (as we had just started trying a few days ago, so were very much at the beginning, i thought I was being very organised at an eary stuch) and I just wanted to make sure everything was ok. She prescribed the blood tests already then, and I had them booked in last Friday. Lo and behold, we conceived in the first month of trying so it went super fast! As for the food, I think it's more the bad habit of googling and literally everything seems to be heavily vetoed! But yes, am trying to be more relaxed about it, thank you:) I live in the land of pizza so will def be enjoying many of those!

coconutlatte44 · 20/02/2019 14:35

Glad to have found some insomnia buddies, I am not having any trouble falling asleep but wake up around 3 or 4 and generally am awake for 2-3 hours before I fall back asleep. It's working fine this week since it's half term but hope it doesn't stay like this for long!
My only other symptoms are continued off/on mild cramping and needing to pee more often than usual, although this has subsided a bit in the last few days, maybe adjusting to the hormones. :)

coconutlatte44 · 20/02/2019 14:36

Have just realized we have harry potter's secret sister and a secret hermione on the same thread... 😂

Tora4 · 20/02/2019 14:48

@coconutlatte44 I'm just the same fall asleep no issues but awake about 3am for a couple of hours DH gets up at 5.30 and I'm feeling like a zombie! Thankfully no one has Mentioned how much I keep leaving the office today.

secretlyhermione · 20/02/2019 15:13

@coconutlatte44 happy to be representing JK's magic! Will def be reading/giving them to the future bebe!
I had insomnia the first few weeks when I had an inkling I was pregnant... I think it was very much the excitement/not knowing. Now I am generally able to sleep without waking up too early (although if I do, its def to go for a wee). Lie in's are impossible though as I crash at 9.30 so 6.30/7am wake up is starting to be quite normal and not a nuisance! Also read somewhere (although don't ask me where, incessant googling since I foudn out) that women waking up is "evolutionary" as it's your body getting ready to respond to your baby's needs and protect him/her. Probably getting us used to the sleepless nights in 9 months time...

Frizzy1986 · 20/02/2019 15:15

@secretlyhermione you'll get sleepless nights before then. Wait til you're so massive that you literally can't find a comfortable way to lie in bed and when you finally get to sleep you wake up to wee 😂

GinMama1 · 20/02/2019 15:40

@Frizzy1986 the insomnia at the end is the worst! Sleep was much better when baby arrived.

Nextchapter19 · 20/02/2019 17:19
