Hello. I thought I'd start a thread for anyone that has had the good news that they are due October 2019. We can go through these looong early weeks together.

I'm 33, first pregnancy
Cycle 6
Currently cycle day 21/12 doo. First BFP at 10 dpo.

I am now testing daily to see if my BFPs are getting stronger. Also still checking temps. Anyone else feel like they have to tip toe around at this stage as everything seems so fragile?

@HarryPottersSecretSister I've two close friends with Crohn's- one had a consultant strongly encouraging her to get pregnant to deal with it (she was single, doing her master's at the time. Errr...) and the other has had no symptoms at all since she did get pregnant (her "baby" is well into double figures now)

Glitterandunicorns · 19/02/2019 14:47

@Frizzy1986 I am in exactly the same boat. I'm 7+5 today and this morning I had red spotting on wiping when I went to the bathroom. I had some cramps this morning too. I phoned the midwife (I had my booking in appointment last week) and she said if it gets heavier then they would get me in for a scan, but thank God it hasn't so far.

I'd already booked a private scan for Thursday so we'll see. I had a MC last year, but I also had spotting when pregnant with my son so I'm praying that it's nothing major.

I really hope everything works out for you, Frizzy.

Dyra · 19/02/2019 15:18

Wish I hadn't left phoning the midwife to get a booking appointment until 7+5 now.... Earliest they can fit me in is the 10th March where I will be 11+2. Oh well. Sad Least my scan is not long after that.

coconutlatte44 · 19/02/2019 15:45

Hi to all the teachers - I work with SEN students as well but mostly mild learning needs so no concern about physical safety in the job. However do want to give school as much time as possible to find cover for me. I'm only 5 weeks tomorrow so still have time. So thankful to have this week off!!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 19/02/2019 15:53

Wow Dustydoorframes that is really interesting (that the Consultant encouraged pregnancy to deal with it) maybe there's something fabulous in all these hormones that assists. Thanks a million for that.

So I rang my GP surgery (think its a bit different here compared to the UK) and was hoping to book in for when I was 7 weeks - shes away on a course that week so I've an appointment for when I'll (hopefully) be just over 6.
Will get into the system then and should get a scan date (expecting it to be for when I'm 13/ 14 weeks)

Is anyone else really excited to hear about all the early scans? Mine will be a while away yet (planning on having a private at approx 10 weeks) so I'm living through everyone else here.

GinMama1 · 19/02/2019 16:04

@Dyra I've been putting off self referring but maybe I should get on with it!

flowersaremyfave · 19/02/2019 16:07

@Dyra that's why I phoned yesterday (found out Saturday) because I know from past experiences how long the wait can be 🙈 always best to book in straightaway.

@HarryPottersSecretSister I'm hoping that when I see the mw Friday she'll get me booked in for an early scan. I'm not 100% sure about my dates as I wasn't tracking 😬 nice to see others scans though, all the little beans ☺️

HarryPottersSecretSister · 19/02/2019 16:15

You see flowersaremyfave that is the best reason ever to need an early scan - You're pregnancy definitely needs dating. Hoping she books you in!

Nextchapter19 · 19/02/2019 16:19

My early scan is a week on Sunday so I’ll keep you all updated! I found the whole booking appt a bit of a faff. Rang doctors, they gave me midwifes number, she said she would see me at 16 weeks and I had to just go to my hospitals website and fill in an online form to which they will respond in 2 weeks!!!! Not the personal approach I thought wpuld happen straight off!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 19/02/2019 16:26

Ooh please do Nextchapter

Yeah, despite forgetting absolutely everything else from my other pregnancies, I do remember what a let down the early appointments/ getting into the system faff is.
I'll have to go to my GP and pay 60 quid to tell her myself that I'm pregnant just so she can send a letter to the hospital to tell them I'm pregnant and then I'll wait for them to send me a letter with a date for my first antenatal/ scan appointment.

That said - 16 weeks really sounds like a looong way off Hmm

flowersaremyfave · 19/02/2019 16:31

@HarryPottersSecretSister yep I'd like to get there and be told I'm 16 weeks 😂 how good would that be 🙈 skip this whole shit show of a first trimester 🤞🏼

HarryPottersSecretSister · 19/02/2019 16:35

flowersaremyfave that would be AMAZING!

Although I'd hate you Grin

BillyAndTheSillies · 19/02/2019 16:37

Hi everyone, thought I'd posted on here but haven't!!! I'm 6w2d today with (hopefully) DC2.
Booked for an early scan on Monday 4th March when I'll be 8w+1.
Just joining in as I've come off the phone to my local hospital. I'd self referred last week and not heard anything so wanted to call to see if they'd received my forms. They asked when I emailed them....I'd faxed them and apparently the fax number isn't valid but they hadn't updated their forms on the website!
Rewrote my form (as it's a totally different form) and sent it via email. Hopefully they'll receive it. Now that I'm over 6w they move the priority up so hoping I get squeezed in.
Such a faff! Last time was great because my cousin was a midwife at the local hospital so she filled out my forms and got me on the system but she's gone private now!

Nextchapter19 · 19/02/2019 16:56

I’ll be having my early scan before booking appointment so thats something to look forward to. I’ve had zero morning sickness and keep thinking this is too good to be true! I feel like I’m literally wishing these next few weeks away, this first trimister should be renamed ‘not knowing what’s going on’! I think I’m going to try and throw myself into work, whilst super tired, and before I know it will be early April and 12 weeks gone!

klanger19 · 19/02/2019 17:11

@nextchapter19 @tora4 @brandyberry @sal1987 hola to my fellow pregnant educators! Anyone else sat down to do the maths?! Feeling smug - October baby surely the best for an educator in the UK? Long summer hols whilst fattest... able to come back for a few days in July to start earning again!

klanger19 · 19/02/2019 17:13

Sorry missed out @coconutlatte44 !

Tora4 · 19/02/2019 17:22

@klanger19 sadly I'm not on a term time contract so will be working the summer 😢 taking a nice holiday the first two weekend of
July- just need to decide where!

Nextchapter19 · 19/02/2019 18:04

@klanger19. I planned for a Sept/Oct/Nov baby so was very lucky we concieved first attempt! Im hoping to go back this September for a few weeks, then as you say return end of summer term, getting paid for both summer holidays either side of the birth! My due date is Oct 17th so should be fine!

klanger19 · 19/02/2019 18:22

Think mine will be Oct 14th! Do you think your school will cover yoy from September? I'm going to push for it so I can spend the month of September doing appraisals, reviewing data, writing improvement plans to make things easier for my second in department when o'm off. Being in school but out the classroom will be easier on the body too I imagine!

Nextchapter19 · 19/02/2019 18:28

@klanger19 I dont think they have a choice as we can decide when to start our leave? I have a TLT1 in 6th form and teach my subject with a heavy timetable. I imagine my replacement will start in Sept for subject role and the TLR will be given internally. I plan on having a nice September in school!!

klanger19 · 19/02/2019 18:42

I think you have to say when you are planning to leave. If you say 1st October then I imagine they could arrange for maternity cover to start at the same time. Smarter to get cover from September I would think though as you may have to go on mat leave earlier than planned.

welshgirl1980 · 19/02/2019 18:48

I work in education too, but just in the admin side, this does mean my holidays run from sept to aug so as I'm planning on taking the full 12 months and I have to use my holiday before mat leave I'm planning on taking the majority of sept/Oct off as hols and the start my mat leave a week before my due date Smile

MummyHenman2be · 19/02/2019 19:03

Hello! Can I join please?

I'm Rebekah, 6 weeks today with our 2nd baby. We have a 14.5 month old daughter!

Starting to feel a bit sick at times and absolutely exhausted!

Is there a Facebook group? If so how can I join?

Look forward to sharing this journey with you all! Xxx

sal1987 · 19/02/2019 20:56

Welcome @MummyHenman2be.

Does anyone else have really bad anxiety about something going really wrong? I had a weird pain in my chest, like heartburn then my boobs were on fire for a bit, it has died down now and had some period style stomach cramps but I'm scared every symptom is a bad sign. Any ways to try and relax? As much as being on half term is amazing and napping is my new best friend, it's just left me with too much time to think about things!!

birchwoods · 19/02/2019 21:19

Congrats to all the new BFP-ers!

@MummyHenman2be yes there is a Facebook group, I think @IcyToes can add you if you DM her your name. x
