39 weeks today and I'm so ready to have this baby now.

I've been quite lucky in that I've had an easy enough pregnancy (morning sickness manageable, if a bit pants; no aches and pains until about 30 weeks etc.) so thank my lucky stars for that, but these past couple of weeks, I'm just done.

Can't remember the last good night's sleep I had, hips hurt so much. Turning over in bed requires the same effort as moving a small family of hippos, and my back frequently feels like it's breaking.

I've had no noticeable signs of labour starting any time soon, which is getting to me, as my induction date at 41 weeks looms ever closer for a predicted 9.9lb baby.

And now the festive period is over, I'm bored on my maternity leave. Everything is done in the house and I am forcing myself out and about so I don't just sit and eat. Plus, I have a DH (who is lovely btw) whose clearly having a moment of 'holy shit, I'm having in baby in 2 weeks or less' and a MIL (who is equally lovely) who won't let me so much as pick up a feather.

Sorry for the rant- there's no point to it. And breathe.

@harrypotterfan1604 Good luck...you're on the home stretch now!!!

So nice seeing everyone's happy news :) :)

Rebah · 11/01/2019 21:04

Good luck Harrypotterfan.

Congratulations to all those who already have their babies.

Had some periody cramps this evening and have decided I don’t want to go through labour again after all so baby can just stay put Grin

SoyDora · 11/01/2019 21:20

Rebah that’s exactly how I felt as soon as my labour started 🤣. And when it got to the pushing stage I just thought ‘I’ve changed my mind!’

m4rdybum · 11/01/2019 22:03

Nothing came of my period pains last night - they didn't keep me awake and were gone by the morning.

Had different pains today coupled with Braxton Hicks while food shopping. Very low in my bump and felt like someone squeezing me, so hard I had to stop walking. Again, they passed within about 45 minutes.

Due date today, but looks like I'll be going over due now!

Don35 · 11/01/2019 22:31

@m4rdybum ditto. It's my due date today and baby feels really low, with braxton hicks getting stronger. It almost feels when baby moves, he will pop my waters. But I think I'm just wishful thinking. If you go before me m4rdybum, I'm going to be jealous!

I'm completely fed up of my pelvis feeling like it's ripping apart and waking up at night with my legs feeling like they are out of their sockets. I've had enough of being pregnant now. These last 2 weeks haven't been easy at all.

Rebah · 12/01/2019 04:35

Nothing has come of my period pains either. So frustrating

harrypotterfan1604 · 12/01/2019 04:52

Still having contractions around ten ish mins, I’ll be examined at half 11 and they should hopefully decide to break my waters but I will have to wait for a bed to be available on the delivery suite for that to happen. Things are going in the right direction and I honestly am surprised how good I feel.

If anyone doesn’t have a tens machine I suggest you go and get one ASAP! They are amazing, I’m never taking mine off I can’t fault it.

Rebah · 12/01/2019 05:04

Ooh good luck harrypotterfan!

Also a big fan of the tens, only pain relief I’ve ever had in labour. Although with dc 3 I got to the point where I was ripping it off because it didn’t seem to be doing anything (went from 3cm to baby within 20 mins so think it was a bit more intense than tens could cope with!)

m4rdybum · 12/01/2019 09:16

I know what you mean @don35 - sometimes the pressure is so much from LO moving that I'm sure there's going to be a gush of waters! I'm sleeping in our spare bedroom as keep waking DH up with my tossing and turning. Had an uncomfortable night and been awake since 4.15am.

Glad to hear you're getting on well @harrypotterfan1604 - newborn snuggles sound imminent Grin

How far are you now @m4rdybum ?

m4rdybum · 12/01/2019 16:39

I'm 40+1 today @Curlypop.

Been having contractions (80% certain that's what they are) since 9am this morning. Only about 4-5 every hour and they're only lasting maximum 20-30 seconds, so early days at the minute. We've just got back from shopping so I'm going to start timing them, just to see.

They're not horrendous - more uncomfortably painful, at the minute.

Curlypop · 12/01/2019 16:50

Yay @m4rdybum hope so

PicassoWouldBeProud · 12/01/2019 16:57

Due date today and nothing. Had some really sharp pains in my vagina Blush last night which took my breath away and I was hoping it may be my cervix dilating but think it's more likely just he baby on a particular nerve!

Had sex, been for a walk- don't feel like there are any rumblings at all.

Curlypop · 12/01/2019 17:17

I've done a 5 mile walk today and a few twinges when our but nothing now.

m4rdybum · 12/01/2019 17:35

@PicassoWouldBeProud Sounds like "lightning crotch" or what someone on here described as fanny daggers Grin

Have been timing my contractions on an app and they are coming on average every 4.5 minutes, lasting between 40 seconds and a minute. Some are more intense than others

We're sending a text to my MIL (our hospital transport) just to pre-warn her that something notable is happening, in case we need to flit in the night.

@Curlypop 5 miles! Massive respect to you. I've managed about 2 miles at most.

41 weeks today. Bah. Had some mild period pain feelings on and off for the last few days but nothing ever comes of it.

le42 · 12/01/2019 20:52

5 miles that’s incredible!! Some days I’m stuck in my flat because I cant get back up the stairs. After this baby I will never ever take for granted being able to walk around!!

@m3edybum - wooo sounds like you’re on your way!! Thinking of you and hope it goes to plan for you xxxxx

Curlypop · 13/01/2019 16:10

Well I'm being induced tomorrow evening. Eeek. So scared.

SadCupcake · 13/01/2019 16:12

I was induced @Curlypop - not as bad as you think lovely, any questions just ask me!
Hope all goes wellThanks

Curlypop · 13/01/2019 16:33

I was induced with my first @SadCupcake and it was bloody awful. How did yours go?

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 13/01/2019 17:03

I was induced with my first and my third I found them to be quite relaxing. The first was because my waters went but contractions didn't start and third because we got to 41+6 and she was still having none of it. The only bit I found painful, uncomfortable was when they popped my waters but my cervix was not favourable at all and was still back and long. I do find the constant monitoring and pain relief readily available as soon as you need it a Comfort. I was closely monitored though as my second was a section. My 4th the midwifes wouldn't believe I was in labour as my contractions never progressed from every 7 minutes even though the got longer and stronger, so I was left to my own devices in agony and terrified until there was a head between my legs haha I found this one much more traumatic than my inductions.
I've been watching this thread like a hawk for baby updates, so I hope all goes well with inductions and labour's. I'm very jealous at only 28 weeks lol

Don35 · 13/01/2019 20:14

Any news m4rdybum? I bet you've had your baby now haven't you. Your contractions looked promising.

I'm overdue +2 days. Still nothing 😞

AimseyR · 13/01/2019 20:49

Also @harrypotterfan1604, how's it going?

m4rdybum · 14/01/2019 08:07

Hi all - my baby girl arrived at 3.07am this morning weighing 7.5lbs (not the whopper they predicted, much to the hilarity of the midwives who measured my bump Grin).

Phoned the assessment unit at 6pm last night after having almost two days of contractions and previously being told I was in the early stages of labour when assessed over the phone at 2am on Sunday morning. Popped in at about 8.30pm (after my Sunday dinner Grin) expecting to be told to go home but just wanting a check up really. Found out I was 4cm dilated and midwife was happy for me to be admitted to labour ward (although I had to walk around the hospital to get my contractions consistently up to 3 in 10 mins).

Achieved this by 11pm, moved to labour ward 11.30pm and started pushing (much to the disbelief of the midwife) at about 2.15am, when my waters broke. Managed to get away with a slight labial tear which they have left to heal on its own.

Baby girl is perfect and currently sleeping while DH has a nap on the hospital floor. She started breastfeeding 15 mins after birth and didn't stop for 2.5 hours!

Just got to wait for paed's tests and my cord blood results (had my first wee - ouch!) and then we can go home :)

I've not slept since Early Saturday morning but feel on top of the world.
