39 weeks today and I'm so ready to have this baby now.

I've been quite lucky in that I've had an easy enough pregnancy (morning sickness manageable, if a bit pants; no aches and pains until about 30 weeks etc.) so thank my lucky stars for that, but these past couple of weeks, I'm just done.

Can't remember the last good night's sleep I had, hips hurt so much. Turning over in bed requires the same effort as moving a small family of hippos, and my back frequently feels like it's breaking.

I've had no noticeable signs of labour starting any time soon, which is getting to me, as my induction date at 41 weeks looms ever closer for a predicted 9.9lb baby.

And now the festive period is over, I'm bored on my maternity leave. Everything is done in the house and I am forcing myself out and about so I don't just sit and eat. Plus, I have a DH (who is lovely btw) whose clearly having a moment of 'holy shit, I'm having in baby in 2 weeks or less' and a MIL (who is equally lovely) who won't let me so much as pick up a feather.

Sorry for the rant- there's no point to it. And breathe.

Congratulations @soydora - so exciting!!! ❤️

Good luck for tomorrow @harrypotterfan1604 I’ll be thinking of you and sending positive vibes!!

I went for a wax last week and the beautician told me they have tons of heavily pregnant women in - so last minute grooming must be part of the deal!!

I’m 38 weeks today, we’ve been told through the pregnancy that they won’t let me go over as the baby is so large. I’ve got an appointment next Tuesday with the consultant to talk about c section option as my SPD is so horrendous I’m incapacitated and coupled with baby size I’m extremely nervous about a natural birth. I also have a midwife appointment the next day (it’s actually my birthday!) so we should get a date either way very soon! This little boy has given me hell during the pregnancy but still can’t wait to meet him! ❤️

harrypotterfan1604 · 10/01/2019 11:06

@le42 I completely see why your worried about a natural birth :( it’s good they’re working with you to make a plan. Sounds like a c section is probably the way forward for you. I have SPD but I’ve been lucky that since I went off work sick it’s settled massively so I’m not too incapacitated now thankfully. I really feel for you :( until you’ve had SPD yourself there’s no way you can understand the pain it causes.
Pregnancy has certainly been a lot harder than I thought it would be but I just keep thinking in a few days I’ll be a mum, brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it and I feel very overwhelmed but it’s so exciting!!!

le42 · 10/01/2019 11:10

@harrypotter1604 - I feel completely the same. I stupidly assumed I would breeze through a pregnancy and it’s just been terrible 🙈 I’ve been in pain every single day for 8 months - so hard to stay positive sometimes but I just keep trying to picture his little face 😍. I’m not sure if the consultant will say yes on Tuesday to a c section, technically spd isn’t medical grounds nor is a big baby - I’m just so worried I won’t be able to be active at all and the labour will be never ending!

How are you feeling about being induced?

harrypotterfan1604 · 10/01/2019 11:19

@le42 if you want a section I’d suggest you stand your ground. I went to my appointment on Tuesday ready for a fight with the dr, I wasn’t leaving without an induction date because I’ve had enough. Turns out I didn’t even need to battle he took one look at my exhausted face and said we need to get this baby out don’t we, I could have kissed him 😂

I won’t lie, I’m scared but it’s made worse because I’m a nurse and we are incredibly bad at being patients! In an ideal world I never wanted an induction but I can’t go on any longer and after a failed sweep it’s clear this baby is too comfy so I have to accept the intervention. He gave me the option for a section if I wanted one but I feel like I should try first and a section as a last resort. Perhaps that’s a bit silly of me but we will see.

le42 · 10/01/2019 12:25

@harrypotter1604 I think that’s sounds really wise of you.... the last bit definitely seems the hardest! And there are loads of positive induction stories where it happened really quickly. Our hospital is central London so it also makes me more relaxed thinking I won’t do a taxi journey through traffic in labour! 😂

SoyDora · 10/01/2019 13:31

If it’s any consolation on the induction, despite the slow start I didn’t make it to the drip (the pessary did its job in the end) and first contraction to birth was 5 hours, with just gas and air.

harrypotterfan1604 · 10/01/2019 13:36

@soydora how are you doing ?
That’s actually really helpful to hear thank you 😬

SoyDora · 10/01/2019 13:38

I’m doing well thank you, completely and utterly exhausted but feeling really well apart from that! It’s nice being able to move properly again Grin

m4rdybum · 10/01/2019 14:26

Currently setting up my steriliser, bottles and Perfect Prep Machine, in case LO makes an unexpected arrival Grin Then we can just turn it all on when we get back home.

Still here and still pregnant and uncomfortable. Not to mention moody.

How come some people are being induced early, because they have been told they are having big babies. But mine is way over the highest line and they have offered me nothing. Plus I've had a 11lb baby before and that birth was induced and a complete nightmare. I'm jealous of these mums going early and I'm completely fed up of everyone saying 'baby will come when baby is ready'. Well what about me? I'm ready, it's my body this baby is in. It's eviction time baby 🤨

Curlypop · 10/01/2019 19:32

@Don35 I had a big baby last time and this ones looking big too. They asked me about inducing but it's recommended for your body to do it it's self.
I was induced last time due to being two weeks over and it was awful. Baby turned back to back and ended up in theatre with forceps and they believe it's all down due being induced and not being ready.
I'm fed up too but there can't be much long left can there?!

le42 · 10/01/2019 20:33

@don35 - agh sorry they haven’t been more helpful to you... when was your last scan? Do they know for certain you’re having a big bab? (Obviously previous little one would be a strong indicator!!)

m4rdybum · 10/01/2019 21:12

@don35 Another big baby carrier here Grin They wanted to wait until 40+12 to induce but I asked for 41 weeks, as LO is estimated to be 9.9lbs! As a FTM, that's a bit scary!

Had a couple of hours of mild and manageable period pains tonight whenever I'm sat down. Not sure it's the start of anything, but if not I just hope it's a sign my cervix is starting to do what it should.

@sadcupcake congratulations!!

I’ve had around 4 hours sleep which is more than I thought I’d get, im going to make a cup of tea and have a shower then ring the hospital at 8 to find out if there’s a bed for me today to be induced.
I think I’ll cry whether there is or isn’t a bed.
Feeling a bit wedid, don’t really know how I feel x

Curlypop · 11/01/2019 07:23

Congrats @SadCupcake. I'm still here. Still pregnant. Still fed up.

SoyDora · 11/01/2019 07:31

Congratulations @SadCupcake! We seem to be boy heavy with births so far!

Rebah · 11/01/2019 10:02

Can I join you all in waiting?
40+1 with dc4

Previous babies born at 39+6, 40 exactly and 41+3

I’ve been on cyclizine for vomiting right the way through, nausea has ramped up the past week or so again. Really bad lightning crotch. Pelvis kills. Ribs hurt. Cant sleep....

A couple of days ago I was feeling fine about going over but today I’m not at all happy!

AimseyR · 11/01/2019 10:03

@harrypotterfan1604 was it a yes, is there space for you to go in today? If so, good luck and hope it all goes well for you.

@SadCupcake congratulations Flowers wow 24 hours sounds like a long time, did it feel like it? Sounds like all is well if you'll soon be discharged x

SadCupcake · 11/01/2019 10:31

Thanks ladies. He is perfection 💙

@AimseyR my god yes.. felt every single hour! He's worth it though.
Although the stitches hurt like a bitch.

CheesyCheshireCat · 11/01/2019 11:59

I'd like to join too please! Congratulations to those whose babies have arrived! I'm 39+3 with no.2. Totally ready for this baby to come out now!
Where I live they give you a weekly monitoring from 39 weeks, so I had my first one yesterday. I was told I was having contractions, although I couldn't feel anything. We got very excited and made arrangements to stay at a friend's house near the hospital so DS would be easily looked after in the night. Woke up this morning ... And then....nothing! And still can't feel anything. I'm so frustrated! I was quite happy plodding along day by day, but I got my hopes up yesterday after being told I was contracting!

harrypotterfan1604 · 11/01/2019 12:58

I am all admitted! First pessary is in and I was already 2cm dilated they think one pessary will be enough to break my waters tomorrow but we will see what happens

Curlypop · 11/01/2019 14:08

Hope all goes well @harrypotterfan1604 x

m4rdybum · 11/01/2019 14:44

Good luck @harrypotterfan1604
