39 weeks today and I'm so ready to have this baby now.

I've been quite lucky in that I've had an easy enough pregnancy (morning sickness manageable, if a bit pants; no aches and pains until about 30 weeks etc.) so thank my lucky stars for that, but these past couple of weeks, I'm just done.

Can't remember the last good night's sleep I had, hips hurt so much. Turning over in bed requires the same effort as moving a small family of hippos, and my back frequently feels like it's breaking.

I've had no noticeable signs of labour starting any time soon, which is getting to me, as my induction date at 41 weeks looms ever closer for a predicted 9.9lb baby.

And now the festive period is over, I'm bored on my maternity leave. Everything is done in the house and I am forcing myself out and about so I don't just sit and eat. Plus, I have a DH (who is lovely btw) whose clearly having a moment of 'holy shit, I'm having in baby in 2 weeks or less' and a MIL (who is equally lovely) who won't let me so much as pick up a feather.

Sorry for the rant- there's no point to it. And breathe.

I have ‘contractions’ every night and have done for weeks... far more painful than normal Braxton Hicks but not leading anywhere. It’s so frustrating and I think has really affected me mentally! Every night I think ‘this is it’ then it tails off by morning.
harrypotterfan1604 maybe we do have the same friends Grin. I find if I ignore them they just assume I’m in labour which is even more annoying!
Well 15 hours until I have to be at the hospital for induction so just waiting for that now.
Hope things are progressing MagicalCreatures!

SadCupcake · 06/01/2019 17:36

@m4rdybum I don't blame you. I feel like I've had to get quite stern with people wanting to visit!

We've said only our parents to come when we call to give the okay to come up to us, as they are both three hours away. We will introduce grandparents in the following weeks, in which my parents got all shitty saying 'it's unfair to make them wait!' AngryAngry

I have no patience left at this point. Pray for me. 😂

m4rdybum · 06/01/2019 17:37

Will be thinking of you tomorrow @SoyDora - don't forget to keep us updated!

SadCupcake · 06/01/2019 17:38

@SoyDora I hope your induction goes well tomorrow!
I've been told to call and see if a bed is free on Wednesday for induction, if not free then I have to wait until next day! Then repeat the process until there's a space! 😭 so I have literally no idea when I could have baby!

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 17:39

Ah m4rdybum you are more assertive than me! I wish I’d told the IL’s that they couldn’t come in more definite terms. My parents are literally just round the corner and generally know their boundaries so won’t cause any problems but the IL’s arrive on weds for 4 days 😔. They were here for 4 weeks over DD2’s due date and it was hell. Then apparently SIL and her partner want to fly over in a couple of weeks. They are not the easiest of house guests.

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 17:40

Never had any visitors to the hospital with my first two as we were home within 4 hours! Don’t know how it will pan out this time.

harrypotterfan1604 · 06/01/2019 20:02

@SoyDora good luck tomorrow!

harrypotterfan1604 · 06/01/2019 20:04

I don’t really want hospital visitors but have settled on the fact my in laws and my own mum and little sister will come. My mum is very childish though and made a comment about racing my MIL to the hospital to be the first to meet the baby.....seriously?!?! Why does it matter who comes first I really don’t get it 🙈

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 20:07

Thank you harrypotterfan1604!
You might find you’re not in long enough for visitors. If all goes well they don’t tend to keep you in, I was discharged straight from the delivery room both times, I didn’t make it to a ward at all, thankfully!

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 20:07

Oh yeah and my MIL is like that... she’s said so many times how she’s jealous that my parents will meet the baby first 🙄. Like it matters! The baby doesn’t care.

harrypotterfan1604 · 06/01/2019 20:14

Yes hoping to not be in long enough however my hospital is super strict with visiting and allowed grandparents 2 only to visit 10am-11am then no other visitors until 3pm-4pm then again 7-8pm and are also mega strict with the 2 visitors to a bed rule. So in a way it would be ok staying in one night. My mum couldn’t come at that morning grandparent visit because my sister is only 14 and she wouldn’t be allowed in and it’s really unfair for her to come without my sister so that’s something at least.

Sexnotgender · 06/01/2019 20:21

38+1 and so bored of being pregnant!

Lost some of my plug earlier this week but no other signs.

harrypotterfan1604 · 06/01/2019 20:41

I’m wondering if you guys could help with a spelling of a baby name. Not brave enough to post on baby names for everyone to say they hate it 🙈
We have a girls name picked no problem but boys have been harder.
We are swaying toward Finlay pronounced the same as Finley but spelt the first way.
I’m torn, I like them both but think spelling with an A may lead the child to have a life of telling people they’ve spelt his name wrong because I think it will be automatically spelt with an E.
DP think otherwise he says when somebody says that name to him he thinks of it spelt Finlay.
Just wondered what you guys think? If I said the name to you would you automatically assume it was spelt Finley and would you be tempted to pronounce Finlay differently to Finley ?

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 20:43

I prefer the spelling Finley. I’d really over pronounce the ‘lay’ sound if I saw it spelt ‘Finlay’. Also he will spend a lifetime correcting the spelling!

Sexnotgender · 06/01/2019 20:46

I think they are pronounced the same? I’d spell it Finlay.

m4rdybum · 06/01/2019 20:53

I agree with SoyDora - I think I would over pronounce the a in Finlay.

peaches1991 · 06/01/2019 22:58

I know a Finlay, it's pronounced the same way as Finley for him. It's never occurred to me that the two would be pronounced differently, although I do call him Fin most of the time which avoids the issue!

harrypotterfan1604 · 07/01/2019 00:11

Thanks ladies :) I think it’s pronounced the same too but wondered if others would pronounce differently. I’m not making a full decision until baby is here anyway

Sexnotgender · 07/01/2019 01:32

Hmm, feeling like things might be happening...

Going to try and go back to sleep soon though.

m4rdybum · 07/01/2019 05:28

How are you getting on @Sexnotgender?

Nothing here, although my thighs are aching and that used to be one of my period symptoms, so I live in hope.

Been wide awake all night here, and my alarm is going off in 15 mins to get myself ready to go in for induction. Massively stressing about my older DC (my mum is taking them to school/pre school but she doesn’t listen to a word I say and is bound to forget PE kits/lunchboxes etc and I’m a control freak 🤦🏻‍♀️).
Too tired to be induced!

MagicalCreatures · 07/01/2019 07:36

Well Ladies....
Thankyou so much for the support over the last week.
I’m pleased to announce our gorgeous Son, Brady was born last night at 10.41pm, 9 days overdue, weighing 6lbs 15oz.
He is our absolute world and we cannot stop staring at him.
I started getting strong contractions again at home at about 3.30pm ranging from 5 to 10 minutes apart but some were lasting as long as 3 minutes and were unbearable.
I rung triage and they agreed I could go in to be checked over.
Good job I did because we got to hospital at about 5pm where they checked my cervix, I was 6cm dilated. They sent me up to labour ward and within the hour I was getting the need to push. I was 9cm dilated.
Held off for abit but I was actively pushing for almost 3 hours in the end.
I got very exhausted and they got me on my back right at the end with a doctor to examine me and to make the decision to take me to theatre for forceps.
Whilst the paperwork was being signed and i was speaking to each individual doctor about the risks etc, I had 4 more contractions which have me the chance to have one last go at getting him out.
And I did. Such a relief.
Unfortunately though he has suffered some swelling in his head which he is being monitored for, though so far has shown no reason for concern and is going down. It’s quite painful for him at the moment so having to be extremely careful. And he has had a little bit of trouble regulating his temperature but that too 🤞🏻 Looks under control now.
I will send a picture as soon as the lights go on. We’ve had no sleep whatsoever and are completely ruined. But he certainly is our best ever creation x x

m4rdybum · 07/01/2019 07:53

Oh lovely @MagicalCreatures - congratulations. Glad to hear your DS is showing good progress after a bit of a rocky start.

Can I ask - did they discuss alternatives to forceps with you? I only ask, as forceps are my one and only fear in childbirth and I've noted on my birth plan that I wouldn't consent to forceps unless absolutely necessary.

Congratulations @MagicalCreatures Thanks

@SoyDora good luck! Let us know how you're getting on if you can and feel like it

Sexnotgender · 07/01/2019 08:24

Everything quietened back down unfortunately.
