39 weeks today and I'm so ready to have this baby now.

I've been quite lucky in that I've had an easy enough pregnancy (morning sickness manageable, if a bit pants; no aches and pains until about 30 weeks etc.) so thank my lucky stars for that, but these past couple of weeks, I'm just done.

Can't remember the last good night's sleep I had, hips hurt so much. Turning over in bed requires the same effort as moving a small family of hippos, and my back frequently feels like it's breaking.

I've had no noticeable signs of labour starting any time soon, which is getting to me, as my induction date at 41 weeks looms ever closer for a predicted 9.9lb baby.

And now the festive period is over, I'm bored on my maternity leave. Everything is done in the house and I am forcing myself out and about so I don't just sit and eat. Plus, I have a DH (who is lovely btw) whose clearly having a moment of 'holy shit, I'm having in baby in 2 weeks or less' and a MIL (who is equally lovely) who won't let me so much as pick up a feather.

Sorry for the rant- there's no point to it. And breathe.

MagicalCreatures please don’t feel like that. I’m proof that even if your body does know what to do (2 previous spontaneous labours) it still doesn’t always do it! It’s nothing you’ve done, just luck (or not) of the draw.
I’ve got my IL’s arriving from abroad on Wednesday, I told them not to book flights until the baby was here as we had no idea when it would be and we’d want some time at home as a family first. They ignored me and booked anyway. Now I’m getting messages like ‘you need to get him out before we arrive, we don’t want to miss it’. Really fucking helpful Hmm. My mum is moaning about having to take time off work to look after my existing DC when I’m in labour and it would have been much easier if I’d had him over the Christmas holidays... my dad who likes to research everything is making comments about the increased risk of c-section if I’m induced. I just want to throw my phone at a wall and scream!

SadCupcake · 06/01/2019 09:30

@SoyDora I've never related to anyone more in my life. Everyone messaging me, family included, has done or said the same.
"Well I've got to go back to work so we won't be able to be there when he is born or even for a few weeks!"
"It would have been more convenient if he was a December baby"

IM TRYING TO GET THIS BABY OUT.

I keep seeing women on social media who had due dates past mine who have had their babies for weeks now! WHENS MY TIME?!

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 06/01/2019 09:37

I'm only 27 weeks at the moment but this is my 5th baby. My first baby my waters went 5 days early he was induced and came the day after his due date. My second was breech and had a section the day before his due date. My third was a stubborn little madam and I was induced at exactly 42 weeks she still took 18 hours to make an appearance. My 4th arrived in 6 minutes start to finish lol so hoping for a nice quick (and on time) baby this time

MagicalCreatures · 06/01/2019 09:46

Thankyou for the support girls. Was feeling very emotional last night.

Well I’ve gone into labour this morning. Maybe that’s why. Been awake since 4am. Regular period pains started at 5am. They turned to stronger pains 5 minutes (on average) apart at 8.20am and have been that way since.
Then all of a sudden they’ve calmed down but I’ve just had another big one. I’m so hoping they just carry on and don’t disappear x

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 09:49

So bloody frustrating isn’t it SadCupcake? Like we’re doing it on purpose to inconvience them!
Poor DH is listening to me moan about his parents while trying to be diplomatic and to make me feel better about it all. I’m refusing to get out of bed today!

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 09:50

X post MagicalCreatures, great news (although I’m very envious!). Keep us updated!

m4rdybum · 06/01/2019 09:52

@MagicalCreatures That's great that something is happening! Hopefully they'll keep steering you in the right direction.

@MagicalCreatures I hope this is the start for you lovely! Everything crossed for you! 💕

BangingOn · 06/01/2019 10:00

You all have my sympathies- this was me 5 years ago to the week and I remember how bloody fed up I was. Reflexology helped me feel a bit better, no idea whether it actually worked or whether it was a placebo but at that point I didn’t care.

harrypotterfan1604 · 06/01/2019 10:05

@MagicalCreatures that’s great news! Good luck dontry to keep us updated as and when you can if you feel up to it Flowers

Curlypop · 06/01/2019 10:53

Yay @MagicalCreatures hope it all goes well x

peaches1991 · 06/01/2019 12:21

Good luck @MagicalCreatures! Hope this is it for you Smile

I feel like it's worse because it's around Christmas and the babies could have been here while everyone was off work. My DH has to go back to work tomorrow, I'm bored enough waiting around when he's here at home with me, I think I'm going to go crazy here on my own! On the plus side maybe when everyone has gone back to work they'll stop asking me if I've had the baby yet.

Does anyone else keep getting the odd pain but then nothing? I'm starting to think I'm imagining them.

HighlandRed · 06/01/2019 12:28

Thank goodness I've found this thread. I'm 39+1 with my first, have a horrible cold and really want to shake it off as I can't go into labour like this. I'm not even due and I'm getting so many "any news?" messages which I've decided to just ignore. Don't people how invasive it is?

Two friends have openly said they're going to message me twice daily to check on me - please don't!!

I would love to recover from this cold and then go straight into labour- have a sweep on Tuesday.

HighlandRed · 06/01/2019 12:30

Oh I've also had people telling me they're booking trains to come and visit in a couple of weeks - I've told them not to book anything as we don't know when it's happening!

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 06/01/2019 12:33

With baby number 3 she was induced at exactly 42 weeks and by the end I turned my phone off, I was so sick of hearing 'oh god, isn't she here yet' and the constant 'have you had her yet' as each day passed after my due date I was getting increasingly frustrated and stressed as it was without all that. I'm one of those people that if someone tells something will happen on a certain day I fully expect it to and couldn't get my head round it not happening when it should

PocketFullofMumbles · 06/01/2019 12:38

Mine came at 8.30 this morning - a little girl of 9.13 Shock

No real signs last night, but woke up to waters breaking at 2, contractions every 2 mins by 2.30. Into hospital by 3.30, where I was STILL only 2 cm dilated. Might have sworn quite a lot. But, as last time, I went from 3 to 10 in a hour (more swearing) and she came out very happily at 8.30.

Keep the faith, ladies - literally from zero last night (at 41 weeks 2 days) to a baby this morning. Fingers crossed for the rest of you x

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 12:40

Amazing PocketFullofMumbles, congratulations! How are you doing??
As both of my previous labours have been over 18 hours (first was 48 hours) I’m not holding my breath for mine coming before induction tomorrow!

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 12:42

I’ve just had a message from a friend that just said ‘baby?’
NO! I think I might have mentioned it if id given birth!!!

sheerjewl · 06/01/2019 12:42

Have you looked at evening primrose oil? With my last I started taking and inserting that and had him one week later at 39 weeks - intense quick labour.... I had read about it ripening the cervix so thought would give it a try. May have been a coincidence! x

LeeCee · 06/01/2019 12:45

Due date tomorrow and getting really REALLY bored of the wait now. Love your story @PocketFullofMumbles - I'm going to put all my energy into hoping for that!

SadCupcake · 06/01/2019 13:28

@PocketFullofMumbles I'm hoping for this as I keep getting the odd twinge and then nothing. I'm hoping I go from zero to a hundred really quickly..
Congratulations! Are you both doing well? Smile

@HighlandRed Everyone seems to want to come up and stay next weekend and we said not to bother as don't know if he will be here yet! So what do people start to do?? BOOK THE TRAIN TO COME UP Angry

harrypotterfan1604 · 06/01/2019 15:18

@PocketFullofMumbles congratulations! Sounds promising for us all.

@SoyDora I keep getting the exact same texts no other words just baby?? I wonder if we have the same friends 😂
I’ve stopped replying now it’s teally doing my head in. Made worse when people then go on to say...well stop being silly now and just get this baby out I’m sick of waiting. YOU’RE FUCKING SICK OF WAITING TRY BEING ME!
My mum also keeps saying you can’t have the baby today I’m working all day (she’s not coming to the birth so who cares if she’s working) or the opposite I’m off today so baby needs to come today please.
Aaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhh 🙈

MagicalCreatures · 06/01/2019 15:49

@PocketFullofMumbles congratulations hun. That sounds amazing!!!! I bet she’s gorgeous.

Well my contractions started to ease off at about 12pm ish, I managed to get a couple of hours sleep with only a few making me stir. Then I woke just after 2pm and had a massive contraction which left me flipping paralysed. Turns out I’m experiencing hip labour where the pain radiates down my thigh and hips.
They started coming every 6 minutes but not as strong as the first and. Ow seem to be disappearing again.
What is going on!!!!!

m4rdybum · 06/01/2019 17:27

@peaches1991 Yep to the pains. I've had about three or four bouts of quite uncomfortable period pain, with the most recent being a couple of mornings ago. It only lasted about 2 mins but I thought "hmmm, is this something" but alas, no pains or niggles followed. I find they ease off when I change position, so think it's more that there's pressure on my cervix?

Congrats @PocketFullofMumbles Cake You've made us all very jealous Grin

@MagicalCreatures have you been assessed at the hospital then? Are you there now? Definitely sounds like you're on your way!

With regards to people visiting, my family live on the other side of the country so it's a little bit different. I've told them under no uncertain terms they're not welcome in the first month (when DH is off) and that they shouldn't expect us to travel over there. My parents are coming end of March for a week (and staying with us) and then my sister and her family will probably visit in February (although not staying as they have a 3 and an 11 year old - I can't deal with that!)

I've also said I only want grandparents (so DH's parents) to visit us in the hospital, unless I have to be in for a while. BIL mentioned he was poised ready to come up to the hospital once LO had arrived- I told him definitely not.
