@fevertree I have four toddlers at home! Work is far less stressful. Best of luck, I hope that the baby shows up soon for you!

Fevertree · 30/10/2018 21:42

Haha in that case I don't blame you! I worked until the last day I could (can't work past your due date and as I work in a school I finished at half term as my due date was the day before we were due to go back!) fingers crossed for us both!

Just a quick update, my baby boy was finally born at 3:10am 30th October. He is a chunk weighing 9lb7oz and ended up being delivered by emergency c section.
Can’t belive he was 14 days overdue and looking at him just doesn’t seem real!

@Babyboymama congratulations! Sorry for my late reply! My little man was born Sunday 28th 9pm weighing a whopping 10 pound 8 oz's my chunky monkey

@markygirl1995 congratulations!! I was waiting for that announcement! Wow I thought mine was big but he’s a chunk! Sooo cute though! Enjoy every moment, I know I am! x

Only a pound difference! Our lumps! How are you finding everything at the moment? Had to change to formula milk from BF as baby wasn't latching on and I haven't any milk for him and now sleeps like no tomorrow

@Markygirl1995 I had to switch to bottle feeding too and the difference it made to him is amazing! He’s so calm now and sleeps all the time! I felt really guilty at first but I was putting too much pressure on myself and after such a horrible birth I decided the stress I was causing myself just wasn’t worth it - he’s fed and happy now!

I’m currently dealing with extremely engorged boobs - more painful than my c section wound! Just praying it goes off soon because I’m in agony 24/7. Apart from that I’m feeling great and loving being a mum, everything is completely worth it for him😍

Sorry to bump the thread - I'm 40+10 FTM low risk and booked for a home birth, really trying to stop stressing as they are starting to make noises about induction which I 100% don't want. No concerns with me or the baby, I want to be left alone until at least 42 weeks unless there's a medically indicated reason.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Markygirl1995 · 07/11/2018 05:49

@Babyboymama I definitely think there is a lot of pressure on mums these days to breastfeed but not given the right amount of support.

The midwives were great in hospital but they all had different ways and techniques to do it and didn't help me understand. I ended up walking away without a clue what to do!

Oh well happy mum = happy baby and happy baby = a happy OH

@pandarific - I'm a FTM planning a homebirth too. I'm only 40+2 but the idea of induction has already been introduced... I've told them I don't really want to discuss it until 40+7. Have your homebirth team given you any advice? Smile

Baby1onboard11 · 07/11/2018 07:23

@emelene also a ftm planning a home birth, currently 40+5 and had a second sweep yesterday. 2cm dilated and cervix seems good to go. Got another sweep booked on Friday to try help baby along. I’m really hoping baby comes as I have an induction booked for the 12th. My home birth team basically said to focus on the positive to help with the endorphins and I can’t control the situation so to do the things I can control.. ie have lots of sex, eat a hot curry and just chill/sleep! Easier said than done!

pandarific · 07/11/2018 12:40

Hey! Thanks for the responses. Had a good appointment with my usual mw today versus the other lady I had on Monday, she was fine with expectant management and was fine with home birth even if I’m a bit overdue as everything is completely normal and fine - such a relief! Have an appointment for ctg and scan etc up at the hospital on sat which will be at 42 weeks if it comes to that and will reassess then.

Thank god for supportive midwives, I was in a right flap about induction on Monday as I just didn’t feel heard at all. Yay!

magpie24 · 08/11/2018 10:43

Can I join? 40+2 today and increasingly uncomfortable. Didn't think I would get here, was convinced baby would come early! Have a midwife appointment today where a sweep is offered - think I will be taking it. Anyone else in the same boat? Running out of things to do...
