For the past 4 weeks I’ve been having regular Braxton Hicks some 6 minutes apart...this is baby no3 but my eldest are 10 and 8 so it’s been a while since my last baby.

Last night I was having windy type pains in my tummy and tightenings. I’ve lost my mucus plug and at my last check up 2cm dilated but able to stretch to 4cm...I’m having contractions regularly today but not very painful! I know baby will be here any minute but it’s so frustrating not knowing how long I’m going to feel like this 😩 so excited to meet my baby girl!
I’m currently eating a whole pineapple bouncing on my ball 😂😂😂 anyone else bored with the wait?? Xxxx

Rowena I went into spontaneous labour the night before I was due to be induced with my first. There really is hope. This is why I'm busying myself today. Need to stop focusing on dates and start not thinking about it.

I am really considering another sweep. Will talk to DH tonight and also the MW on Saturday.

RowenaDedalus · 11/10/2018 13:10

Thanks both of you! That gives me hope. I’m just so glad I finished work at almost 40 weeks as otherwise I would have been so bored. As it is I’ve only had 2 weeks so not bad.

MaverickSnoopy · 11/10/2018 14:30

The irony is that as full of angst I feel over being overdue, I know that with my two preview overdue babies, I look back at the wait very fondly!

afloat · 11/10/2018 20:17

Some painful-ish contractions 10 minutes apart... Probably wishful thinking!

RowenaDedalus · 11/10/2018 20:38

Ooooh sounds hopeful!

MaverickSnoopy · 11/10/2018 21:23

Fingers crossed afloat!!

surreygirl1987 · 12/10/2018 05:23

Best of luck ladies... and Rowena to give you more hope, I gave birth yesterday and my induction was booked for today! It really can happen but I has resigned myself to the fact that he wouldn't come spontaneously... and then he did! Hope all goes well whatever happens!

MaverickSnoopy · 12/10/2018 05:50

Congratulations! I'm so pleased for you. Enjoy the snuggles.

Foodylicious · 12/10/2018 06:00

Congratulations surreygirl1987

Lovely news. Hope you both doing ok.

Fx it's not long for the rest of You!

RowenaDedalus · 12/10/2018 07:25

Wonderful news Surreygirl. Well done!

afloat · 12/10/2018 07:44

Congratulations Surreygirl! I had been looking forward to your birth announcement.

Nothing happening here except very spaced out short contractions that I have to breathe through. I’m fed up!

MaverickSnoopy · 12/10/2018 18:24

Hope they've turned into something productive today afloat.

Been having much stronger contractions all afternoon and lots of discharge that doesn't really qualify as a show or waters. Just about to get in the bath.

RowenaDedalus · 12/10/2018 19:04

Maverick I hope it develops quickly for you! I’m due in tomorrow morning so just hoping a bed is available OR that I magically go into labour before then!

afloat · 12/10/2018 19:53

Nothing productive here - irregular short painful contractions - and I made the mistake of spending the day moping around home. I need a project to work on to take my mind off the bloody waiting, 5 days until induction!

Rowena I hope everything goes well no matter what happens!!

Maverick enjoy your bath.

Solidarity, fellow beached whales!

MaverickSnoopy · 12/10/2018 21:23

I think it's tapering off. Been 15-20 mins since about 2pm but the pain is becoming less now. Baby is pushing down A LOT though. No induction for me for another 7 days - which gives me time for a spontaneous labour but equally every day with my 2 children is now a MASSIVE struggle. I'm hardly able to function :-(

afloat · 12/10/2018 22:03

Sorry to hear this Maverick. The prodromal labour is driving me crazy too but I'm lucky to have my parents here helping. My contractions are still short, painful and between 8 and 15 minutes apart. I'm not getting my hopes up (except for a night's sleep). Good luck to you both x

MaverickSnoopy · 13/10/2018 10:53

Just had my 41 week appointment and apparently I'm still 3cm and still 3/5. So I decided to decline another sweep. Just felt that if my body hadn't moved on despite all the contractions that it's probably not ready and a sweep wouldn't help (as it hasn't ever worked for me and I didn't fancy another night in hospital courtesy of another one).

Induction booked for Saturday and not Friday. The hospital wouldn't budge despite my midwife insisting.

Midwife says it's key that I try and relax so that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to try and chill out and just enjoy this last week and you never know it might happen spontaneously. She did say that at the very least she just thinks they'd need to break my waters and wouldn't need the drip (same as last time) and she gave me some helpful advice so not to get bumped down the list like last time.

RowenaDedalus · 13/10/2018 11:06

I think you’ve made the right sweep decision!

I was due in this morning but they said no beds and to wait for them to call me otherwise I need to try again tomorrow. I won’t be able to bear it if the same thing happens tomorrow!

afloat · 13/10/2018 11:16

Rowena that sounds torturous! Hope you get a place today.

Maverick I'm really trying to enjoy my days too but it's so difficult with these contractions. I had them fairly strongly and consistently all night but they nearly disappeared by 5am, and I got a few hours sleep. Still wishfully have my TENS machine on but feeling so despondent and fed up. I don't do well on little sleep.

MaverickSnoopy · 13/10/2018 12:55

Oh Rowena! How many weeks are you? It's so hard isn't it when you get so close and then they don't induce you. I will never forget being in hospital and put into a wheelchair to go down after a day of waiting to be induced, only to then be wheeled back and told that they could no longer fit me in. Soul destroying. As hard as it is, be thankful that you're at home and not facing it in hospital. When DH went home and I had to stay in overnight and laid awake crying all night.

I've just been to the loo feeling a bit crampy and have had some brownish discharge which looks a bit "showy". Possibly as a side effect of my examination earlier so maybe nothing at all!

RowenaDedalus · 13/10/2018 13:30

I’m 40+12 today. So large!

That’s so miserable about being wheeled down and wheeled back! It’s important I think to remind myself that they don’t have a bed because other women have a greater need, but I am getting so anxious now. Need to fill my time I think in case they don’t call me! They said they would potentially call at midday or tonight if they have space, otherwise I need to try again in the morning.

It sounds like things are possibly happening for the two of you though, and I hope they do! I have absolutely zero symptoms but I’m still living in some sort of hope that I will go into spontaneous labour at home Smile

MaverickSnoopy · 13/10/2018 20:27

You know, I share my due date with 2 people I know in real life. One of them has gone into labour today. I have to not let it get to me - because I think this is my fate lol.

At 40+12 you still have time. Try to relax and just enjoy your last day or so. My midwife suggested today hand expressing. I'm going to give it a shot in a bit....perhaps we should both have a try.

RowenaDedalus · 13/10/2018 21:47

As good an idea as any! I’ll give it a go.

RowenaDedalus · 14/10/2018 17:48

Any babies yet?

MaverickSnoopy · 14/10/2018 20:33

Not yet. Had quite strong contractions this afternoon again but getting nowhere.
This evening have spent about 2 hours bouncing on my ball. Eaten 3/4 of a pineapple. Taken an evening primrose oil capsule and been hand expressing for the last half hour (got a bit of colostrum and felt uterus contracting).

Any news on your induction?
