For the past 4 weeks I’ve been having regular Braxton Hicks some 6 minutes apart...this is baby no3 but my eldest are 10 and 8 so it’s been a while since my last baby.

Last night I was having windy type pains in my tummy and tightenings. I’ve lost my mucus plug and at my last check up 2cm dilated but able to stretch to 4cm...I’m having contractions regularly today but not very painful! I know baby will be here any minute but it’s so frustrating not knowing how long I’m going to feel like this 😩 so excited to meet my baby girl!
I’m currently eating a whole pineapple bouncing on my ball 😂😂😂 anyone else bored with the wait?? Xxxx

No baby here! I went for a check at the hospital yesterday evening as I was afraid my waters went and I was contracting every 3-5 mins. It wasn’t water but liquidy mucous plug and still prodromal contractions.. dilated about a cm and baby is well. The trip to the hospital seemed to scare the baby as my cx stopped! At least I had a great night’s sleep.

I hope it's not too much longer for you.
My LO is tongue tied and he is having the snip today. I am dreading it Sad

Foodylicious · 08/10/2018 10:29

Hope today goes ok naked.

I don't have personal experience of TT but a few friends have and as awful as they found LO having to have the procedure, all have said it was very quick and not nearly as bad as they thought it would be.

Do you have local support for follow up with feeding etc?

surreygirl1987 · 08/10/2018 10:35

No baby here either! Am now trying to decide whether or not I want an induction. My mw booked me in for one on Friday when I'll supposedly be 41+5 (although my original due date makes me 40+6)... 😫

Hope you're all managing okay. @nakedmum it's good the tt was picked up at least!

RowenaDedalus · 08/10/2018 10:52

It’s a hard decision isn’t it. Have they said what monitoring you will get if you decide not to go for an induction?

surreygirl1987 · 08/10/2018 11:09

Yes she said I'll probably have to go in every day to be hooked up to a machine for an hour. It is tricky. On one hand if the baby's not ready yet (and I think my original due date of a week later is probably more accurate) I would like to just leave it until he is, especially as inductions can often lead to further interventions. But I'm getting increasingly nervous about something happening to him while he's in there (a friend had a stillborn at this point which is always in the back of my mind) and also he's already on the big side so concerned how huge he might eventually be!!

You know, just writing that down helped me decide. I think I'm leaning towards the induction now. Thanks!

Foodylicious · 08/10/2018 11:24

Everything has slowed right down again here.
Just random tightenings now.

Feeling frustrated. I sooo thought this was it!

Will see what MW has to say this aft.

surreygirl1987 · 08/10/2018 11:40

Good luck with the mw. It is sooo frustrating isn't it!!

RowenaDedalus · 08/10/2018 12:05

It’s so hard isn’t it surreygirl but I am like you, going to take the induction option when they offer today. A close family member also lost her baby at this stage and I know it’s very unlikely, and actually they found reasons for her loss which weren’t related to the stage of pregnancy so I’m not trying to frighten anyone, but I know that I personally wouldn’t be able to rest after 42 weeks.

Good luck this afternoon Foody. If my MW tells me that my cervix is still too high/ not dilated I think I will lose the plot Grin

MaverickSnoopy · 08/10/2018 12:47

Deciding on induction is hard. I didn't want to be induced with my last one but glad I was. Went it on day 14 and they couldn't fit me in so stayed in overnight and was finally induced on day 15 overdue. In the end labour was only 4 hours but during the delivery they rushed in doctors and midwives and an incubation unit as her heart rate dropped dangerously low and I was told that she'd been in too long and should have been induced sooner!! I also know someone who's baby was stillborn in the same circumstances. So this time I've requested to be induced on day 13 sooner, in the hope that if they can't fit me in then I'll definitely be induced on day 14.

The thing is there are risks both ways and you have to take other people's experiences with a pinch of salt.

Foodylicious · 08/10/2018 12:57

I know I am only 40+3 but I really do have a strong feeling that baby needs to be out soon, so think I will go for sweep if she can do one.

I had such a stressful summer with getting ready to finish/hand over work and preparing for LO to start school, doing stuff around the house and decorating etc.
I was totally convinced we were not going to he ready for baby, that baby would come early, and the transition to school would be too much for LO. Oh and that the house would just not be ready.

The last couple of weeks have been a really odd limbo...

afloat · 08/10/2018 13:04

Surreygirl I know how you feel; my official due date was the third but by my dates it was the seventh (yesterday). Don’t want to induce unless necessary but I’m impatient and also had complications with last birth which may have been caused by being so overdue (41+6).

Uff. I’ve taken to my bed and given up on the day even though the weather here is lovely. Have an appointment and maybe will have a sweep tomorrow.

Good luck everyone.

RowenaDedalus · 08/10/2018 17:33

Well I’m 41 weeks and my cervix still is closed. Induction booked. Miserable.

surreygirl1987 · 08/10/2018 18:24

Oh I'm sorry @Rowena! It's so disappointing to hear isn't it! I think I'm going to get the same news at my sweep appointment on Wednesday. When is your induction? You're just one day behind me I think- I'm 41+1 today.

RowenaDedalus · 08/10/2018 19:07

Booked for Saturday...
Seems like so far away which is silly as it is only a few days! I just want to sleep until I have a baby. Why don’t our little babies just get a move on?

MaverickSnoopy · 08/10/2018 19:24

Rowena if it helps I went into spontaneous labour with my first the day before I was due to be induced!

With my second the midwives kept saying if you relax and try not to think about it, she'll probably come spontaneously. I couldn't relax because I was so worried about being induced and in the end I was induced.

Try to relax and not think about it. Spend the next few days doing nice things and have lie ins....oh how I miss the lie ins.

afloat · 08/10/2018 19:35

I feel the exact same @rowena. Likely will be booked for the weekend at tokorrow’s Appointment. Solidarity for the beaches whales!

RowenaDedalus · 08/10/2018 19:42

Thanks both of you. It’s good to have someone to moan to! And you’re so right about the lie ins!

Olderbyaminute · 08/10/2018 20:00

Best of luck ladies and your new babies or soon to be born babies! I only was pregnant with my son and due to a host of issues after gallbladder surgery I had an emergency c section at 30 weeks. I can’t imagine the uncertainty of when labor starts but at least they’ll be born and there’s no looking back!

Foodylicious · 09/10/2018 03:29

Hope you are all doing ok
Little one made a rather dramatic entrance Monday eve around 20.20hrs.
8lb 13oz.
We are both just fine Grin

NakedMum33and3rd · 09/10/2018 03:34

Wow! Congratulations foody! You said you had a strong feeling that you needed to get the baby out! Your body obviously knew that you were well on your way! X

Foodylicious · 09/10/2018 04:27

Yes, didn't have the sweep in the end. Things seemed to on thier way already.

MaverickSnoopy · 09/10/2018 06:18

Huge congratulations Foodylicious!! Hope you're having baby snuggles and some rest.

Every little symptom and all of the contractions that I've been having (for over 3 weeks) have stopped since Sunday night. Surely it should be the opposite way around!!

surreygirl1987 · 09/10/2018 08:08

Oh congratulations! This is an exciting thread!! Glad to hear you're both doing well!!

No sign here still 🙈... counting on that sweep tomorrow!

RowenaDedalus · 09/10/2018 08:10

Foody well done!

No sign here either.
