@lucy, I did ring the unit (must be a busy day up there as it took forever to get through), they say the colour is more than likely due to old blood from exam last week, they weren’t concerned and don’t want to see me. They said if it is bright red blood then I should go up

It does sound like you could be in early labour @snowy1982 👍

We spent half of yesterday in the hospital with DD as she is also in early labour, but didn't budge from 1cm in the whole 7 hours we were in the hospital, so they sent her home.

She did have some blood & protein in her urine though and although not generally high, her bp had gone up, so there was some concern that it may be the start of preeclampsia 😢 They did some specific test on her urine though and it came back under the cut off 🎉

Cramping and backache is still ongoing but still not close enough together to go back in, though DD says she is getting a lot more pressure now.

She's currently in the bath, so hopefully that will either help ease the pains, or help with her labour. I worry that it going on for too long with distress DGS 😢

I hope everyone else is doing ok xo

Been at the unit this morning had more tightenings and baby been so much more active then usual. Anyway She examined me said cervix was still thick could be a while yet. Tried to be me a stretch and sweep as best as she could. Things could change they might not! Home now and still getting tightenings every 1-3 mins xx

ichifanny · 12/09/2018 15:30

Yep that sounds like your plug , that’s what mine looked like anyway in my first vaginal birth

HanSpan1 · 12/09/2018 16:23

Had another sweep today (well attempted sweep), my cervix is closed and to the side?? Not at the front?? Im now 41 + 2, ive not lost my plug, not had any twinges.... nothing..... ive got another sweep planned for Sat and if nothing happens then looks like im going in for induction on Sunday.

LucyLou19 · 12/09/2018 17:55

I’m still having tightenings, had a bath with clary sage oil but they’re not getting any stronger 🙄🙄

niclw · 12/09/2018 18:36

I'm 40+1. I've not had any signs of labour starting other than losing my plug but I'm aware that can happen weeks before. I'm a little concerned though that one of my feet has got puffier this afternoon. I went for a walk before I noticed so it might just be because of that but I don't see my midwife on Friday morning. I've no other signs or concerns linked to pre-eclampsia but am worrying. I currently sat with my feet up hoping that the swelling goes down. Any ideas?

Sushirolls · 12/09/2018 18:44

Hope things pick up for you soon @LucyLou19 Flowers

@niclw personally, I'd give your mw or the labour ward a call, just to be on the safe side. Preeclampsia can come on very quickly x

LucyLou19 · 12/09/2018 19:09

Could be from the walk but I would ring the unit xx

snowy1982 · 12/09/2018 21:42

So, pains are definitely increasing in frequency and intensity, averaging 7 mins apart now, although have had some quicker and some longer apart. Still not sure if it’s the real deal though, while they are pretty bloody sore I guess I had it in my head they would be much worse.

I know it could still be false labour, going to see if I can manage some sleep soon as I was told if I could sleep through them then they weren’t real contractions

@snowy1982 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's the real thing. Good luck 🤞

niclw · 12/09/2018 22:04

The swelling in my foot has gone down after resting so I'm assuming I'd just been on my feet for too long. I will definitely be keeping an eye on things though.

Sushirolls · 12/09/2018 23:11

Good luck @snowy1982 DD is the same, still no regular pattern Sad

Glad to hear the swelling has gone down @niclw Smile

Baby Abel was born at 9.56 in the 12th via emergency c section after 15 hours of labour and his head getting stuck and vitals dropping. I had to have a GA which didn't help Abel's condition. He's now being looked after in NICU as he was born struggling to breathe properly. I'm still in hospital too. It's so hard 😞 xx

snowy1982 · 13/09/2018 07:03

@billystrikes2, first of all congratulations on you baby boy, Abel is a beautiful name. I understand how hard this must be though, but you are both in the best place for you and am sure Abel and you will be better in no time. In the meantime, just try you hardest to be strong for Abel but don’t forget to take care of yourself either

So, had contractions (pretty sure that’s what they are, whether they are the real deal or false is still up for debate) all night.

Averaging at 7 mins apart, though every know and then I get one or two coming along a lot quicker, but also have had a couple at a lot longer, this has been the average time since I started monitoring them at 8ish last night so not really progressing in frequency, intensity on the other hand in increasing and am in a lot of pain with them now.

LucyLou19 · 13/09/2018 08:12

I’ve been the same @snowy they will be contractions but same as me not long or effective enough to lead to anything! It’s really frustrating isn’t it xx

LucyLou19 · 13/09/2018 08:35

So just been to toilet and lost this!!!! Please let this be the start of it xx

@billystrikes2 Congratulations on your baby boy. As Snowy said you are both in the best place so take care of yourself and make sure you rest as well as being there for AbelThanks

niclw · 14/09/2018 11:59

I've just come from my midwife appt (40+3). She offered a sweep which I decided to take. Apparently my cervix is closed but soft and short. I understand the soft and closed bit but doesn't anyone understand what is meant by short. I've looked on google but it comes up with how it can cause preterm labour which obviously isn't the same as in my case. On the plus side though baby is very low and is no longer back to back. I hope you are all doing well.

Sushirolls · 14/09/2018 12:04

Congratulations @billystrikes2 🎉 I'm sorry to hear that your little one got stuck X DD nearly ended up the same, but the consultant managed to get him out at the last minute with an episiotomy & ventouse. I wish you and your little man a speedy recovery xo

Sushirolls · 14/09/2018 12:11

My beautiful DGS arrived (finally) yesterday the 13th September, weighing a dinky 6lbs 💕

DD had a bit of a rough time with DGS being distressed and getting stuck 😢 but they eventually managed to avoid an emergency section with an episiotomy & ventouse. Little one had poo'd quite a lot inside 😢 so he was on 2 hourly obs. They also checked his blood sugars as he was so tiny (he was predicted to be much bigger & has fallen off the growth chart) but they have decided it's not an issue, just that he's little xo

I'm so incredibly proud of my amazing DD to go through birth with hardly any pain relief as she's unable to have an epidural or pethidine. She's bloody amazing!! Xo

niclw · 14/09/2018 12:20

@Sushirolls Congratulations to both you and your daughter. Enjoy all of those cuddles with your grandson x
