@bluees Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy Thanks

snowy1982 · 10/09/2018 10:20

@bluees, congratulations that’s brilliant, hope you and your baby boy are doing well

Massive congrats bluees! Hope you’re ok. x

Don’t know what to do ladies. Have a c section booked for weds - no medical necessity as such but I do have good reasons so they’ve approved it. Rang this morning to try to move it to next week as still not sure but there’s no theatre space. So I need to make a decision.

Am just worried that he’ll go over massively, I’ll be induced and it won’t work and I’ll end up with a c section anyway, having lost 3 weeks out of my precious 7 months off with him. It’s such a tough decision and I just don’t know what to do - help!!!

DariaG · 10/09/2018 16:02

@orphanblack1 I feel for you, I wouldn't want to be induced as I am afraid that by the time I will get my induction appointment (I can only book it next week and I'm 40 weeks today) the baby will be too big and I'll end up with c-section anyway.. but I think I would rather risk it and wait

Sushirolls · 10/09/2018 16:07

Congratulations @bluees 🎉 Flowers

@orphanblack1 I am sure you had your reasons to book in the first place, and if they're still valid, I think I would probably continue with the section as planned. Not an easy decision to make xo

On a separate note, DD thinks she may have lost some of her plug today, and she's getting niggles that she described as annoying and slightly uncomfortable, so I'm 🤞 that my DGS is on his way!! He was due last Saturday. I'm just about to run DD a bath to see if it helps Smile xo

LucyLou19 · 10/09/2018 17:55

Why are you booked for a section @orphanblack? Personally i would wait as I know what the recovery is like after a section but that’s just me xx

Sushirolls · 10/09/2018 18:13

I found recovering from my section ok, I think it depends on the person. You need to weigh up your reasons for wanting one and the risks of needing one in an emergency if induction doesn't work x

orphanblack1 · 10/09/2018 18:45

Because I have a skin condition down there which makes tearing (and poss recovery probs) more likely, I am very very anxious as I used to be a lawyer for the nhs dealing with obstetric and gynae cases and saw all kinds of awful things I can’t unsee, and because I had to be put under a general to have pre-cancerous cells lasered off, so thinking my anxiety levels so bad I’ll just not cope.

ellie228 · 10/09/2018 23:13

I haven't posted on here since the beginning of the year but have followed this thread every day.
My beautiful little girl was born on Friday at 39 weeks, it's been a stressful 9 months but so worth it.
So congratulations to everyone who has had their September baby and to those still waiting. We got here!.

Gracey88 · 11/09/2018 00:03

@ellie228 congratulations to you, I hope you and baby are doing well. How was your delivery?

niclw · 11/09/2018 00:22

Congratulations @ellie228

Sushirolls · 11/09/2018 03:13

@orphanblack1 personally, if I were in your position, I think I'd probably go with the section. We are all different though, so what might be best for one person, might not be the best for another X

Congratulations @ellie228 Flowers X

I'm awake as DD had a show at lunchtime and has been having irregular contractions since. They're now about 8 minutes apart, lasting about a minute, but not too painful, thankfully Smile she's tired, but they're more uncomfortable if she lays down Sad she keeps feeling like she needs the loo but doesn't, so I'm guessing DGS is getting quite low! Once she gets to 5 minutes apart she is going to phone the hospital for advice. She wants to stay home as long as possible.

HanSpan1 · 11/09/2018 07:57

Congratulations to all the new arrivals! ! !
I’m still waiting for her to arrive, currently 41w today and no signs of anything happening,

Had a sweep yesterday and the MW said the babys head was nice and down and could feel around it.

I’m still doing everything i can, going on walks, massages, watching films and bouncing on the ball.

Im due another sweep on Thursday and possible induction on Sunday which is a bit pants as i had my heart set on the MLU.

LucyLou19 · 11/09/2018 15:34

Was up most of the night last night with tightenings and pains and had them today too, nothing to shout about they’re leading to nothing!!! Had clary sage bath last
Night and used it in my burner too, might give it another go xx

snowy1982 · 12/09/2018 06:04

I’ve had a night a bit like yours @lucylou.

Question for the group, as a FTM I am unsure as to what contractions should feel like, will I just know they are what they are?

Been having back pains and twinges for a few weeks and have known instinctively that they weren’t the real thing. Last couple days these have been getting stronger and more frequent (although still pretty few and far between). Yesterday the back pains became even stronger and were accompanied by cramping/tightening at the front. Over night I was awake with them quite a bit, I would say hourly.

Do these sound like the start of something, although still very early on?? Or am I so desperate (I am 40 + 5) for something to be happening that I am making something out of normal pregnancy aches and niggles ?

ichifanny · 12/09/2018 07:00

Can be the start of very early labour that can last weeks , my Braxton Hicks at the end we’re pretty powerful and took my breath away but never really regular , you will feel a pattern develop and they intensify and really make you know their presence when it’s labour.

ichifanny · 12/09/2018 07:02

I’m enjoying my baby so much I forgot how precious these early days were , despite still being in lots of pain in wound I’m amazed at how quickly she’s became part of the family and how close we feel . Just sort of staggering about house in pyjamas eating drinking and feeding baby while husband does school runs etc .

snowy1982 · 12/09/2018 07:24

Well since I’m already 40+5 I really hope it doesn’t take weeks to ramp up Smile. The intensity and frequency really has increased over the last 24 hrs, still not enough for me to even think I am in active labour, but enough to make me think I should start monitoring it a bit more carefully. I am due to be brought in for induction next Monday so I am probably just looking for signs that I’ll go naturally before then (I know, I really shouldn’t get my hopes up).

Glad you and baby are doing well, your days sound blissful (obviously excluding the pains). Am very happy for you @ichifanny

Hi snowy

I know it's the most annoying thing to say to a FTM but I promise you, you will know when it's properly kicking off.
It sounds like you are in early labour but that can last a while as others have said. Have you had a sweep?
I was feeling like you at 40 weeks with DS2 and had a sweep at 40+3 in the morning and he was born that evening.

I'm 37+6 with DC3 now and have been having irregular contractions for 2 weeks now. They say that can happen with subsequent pregnancies. It's so uncomfortable though and I'm not sleeping at all!

I wish you all smooth and speedy deliveries!!!

X

snowy1982 · 12/09/2018 08:24

@nakedmum I had an attempted sweep last week at 39+6, cervix was soft but closed

OP posts:
NakedMum33and3rd · 12/09/2018 08:51

Do you have another one booked in? With all the contractions you have been having you are probably well on the way and a sweep could push you over the edge!

snowy1982 · 12/09/2018 08:54

No, no more booked in, I don’t get seen again until I go into labour, whether that’s naturally or the induction

snowy1982 · 12/09/2018 09:16

Ok, second question for the more experienced in the group.

So had sweep last week and was warned about spotting, which I had, nothing excessive but it did seem to linger a bit. Had none at all yesterday so thought it had all cleared up.

Just went to toilet and when I wiped there was a dark mucusy discharge, colour was (sorry TMI) like the dark brown of the end of a period and consistency seemed a bit like EWCM.

Is this my mucus plug coming away maybe mixed with some old blood from spotting or does this sound like something I should be worried about?

OP posts:
LucyLou19 · 12/09/2018 11:07

@snowy does sound like your plug but I thought that was supposed to be jelly like and pink? Ring the unit xx

niclw · 12/09/2018 11:11

@snowy1982 I had a look at mucus plug pics on google as I wasn't sure if I'd lost mine or not. They seem to vary a lot in colour - some old blood brown, some pink and others without any hint of blood. I seem to be losing mine in bits but without any blood at all. Everyone is different so there is a good chance that you have lost some or part of yours.
