Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

Fingers crossed! Ask for a sweep tomorrow @Babyrowlandsmummy.

Addy2 · 12/06/2018 06:05

Hey, OP. Update for you : with similar symptoms at 38+2, I went into labour at 38+6. Not long for you now, hopefully.

Babyrowlandsmummy · 12/06/2018 06:42

Thanks guys @Addy2 that sounds hopefull!
Woke up at 1:30am with the worst pain I’ve had so far at the top of my bump downwards and it was really tight. Ended up vometing. Took some painkillers and went back to bed.
Midwife today at 2pm so will update
Hope your all ok! X

You've just had me hooting with laughter as I recall from my friends when we were pregnant! Alas both my babies were awkward so their heads resided in my hip so I kind of had an easy deal TIL caesarean scar which is a forever thing

Anyway sounds like you're close now - hope it's today!

EmmaJR1 · 12/06/2018 07:09

@Babyrowlandsmummy that all sounds really good. You might have your baby soon. I know it hurts but short walks are supposed to help. Fingers crossed! X

carringtonm · 12/06/2018 07:34

Sounds positive, @Babyrowlandsmummy! I haven't had any other signs since yesterday evening so must have been (another) false alarm. Got the midwife in the morning and she'll be booking my induction but I'm going to ask for another sweep. I really don't want to be induced, but I also really want my baby! 🤷🏼‍♀️

2good · 12/06/2018 09:18

babyrowlandsmummy that all sounds good (not the pain, but you know what I mean- moving in the right direction!). Best of luck with apt today. Make sure you bring your bags as they might keep you in!
carrington how many weeks/days will you be on the planned induction day?
My update: currently 10 days ovedue (41+3) and still zero labour symptoms! Sad

carringtonm · 12/06/2018 09:26

@2good I think they said it would be 40+12 but it's not being booked until tomorrow so hopefully it'll be earlier! 😫

2good · 12/06/2018 09:41

Oh yeah seems to be slightly different policies with different hospitals. Mine waits until 14 days over. Best of luck, hopefully you won't need to be induced!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 12/06/2018 12:17

@carringtonm I feel for you hun. Nothing worse than getting your hopes up then nothing. We were convinced we was going last night. Everything seems to happen at night never in the day.
I really hope the sweep works for you rather than being induced. Sending hugs and positive thoughts to you! Let us know how you get on! Xx

I'm so uncomfortable today. The baby is right under my boobs and has his foot stuck in my ribs. I just feel like there is nothing happening and it's making me feel utterly miserable. Got stomach and back pain, but more like indigestion than anything else, and I'm not even having Braxton Hicks today 😞

I feel like a failure somehow, or like he just doesn't want to come and meet us! I know it's just the hormones but I feel so down.

Hopefully you'll get a sweep today, @Babyrowlandsmummy. Mine dislodged my plug last week so although it didn't bring on labour, it wasn't a complete waste of time. Being told the baby's head was in the right place and that I was 2cm dilated did give me so much false hope though - I think that's why I feel so miserable because it's 6 days later and nothing is happening!

LuckygoLucy · 12/06/2018 12:51

Hi Ladies. I'm jumping on this bandwagon not as far as you guys only 37 weeks ... and I want to say fingers crossed for you!! xx

Babyrowlandsmummy · 12/06/2018 13:00

@carringtonm I’m so sorry your feeling so low and I understand the frustration and uncomfortableness- it can be debilitating. Your not a failure, infact you have made such a lovely home baba wants to stay close to you! It’s all the hormones making you feel crap but hopefully that surge of hormones means something is happening?
I felt crap yesterday and got a bath and a face mask and had a little pamper with some nice music, perhaps give that a try?
The feet under boobs and ribs feeling is utterly miserable because it’s sooo uncomfortable- I feel for you hun 💐 xxxx

Dont be sad @carringtonm it's horrible isn't it. I usually go and have a nap if I get too fed up and listen to my Hypno Cd, don't think k it's working though. I hate it when the baby sticks in your ribs, it's so painful. My settee is low so I struggle to get comfy if it does that and I get frustrated because my dp tells me it's obviously not dropped if it's in my ribs. I'd like to see him have a go. Hey @luckygolucy are you miserable too?

LuckygoLucy · 12/06/2018 16:14

Hello @plainK. Very miserable so over this pregnancy stuff!! Not been an enjoyable time. @Carringtonm you are amazing and strong! Hope your feeling a bit better now xx

2good · 12/06/2018 16:15

plaink tell your husband my baby has dropped and is fully engaged (confirmed by midwife), yet it's get have been lodged in my ribs for about a week now. It just means the baby is probably a)quite tall or b)enjoys stretching out the full length of your womb

2good · 12/06/2018 16:15

*its legs

2good · 12/06/2018 16:16

*I mean feet! What is wrong with me 😂

carringtonm · 12/06/2018 16:20

@2good Mine is the same. He's as high and as low as he can get (without being in the birthing canal). I'm worried about the size because DP was nearly 11lbs!! 🤢 I'm feeling a bit better - thanks to everyone for their kind words, it's just a horrible waiting game as we all know. How was the midwife, @Babyrowlandsmummy?

2good · 12/06/2018 16:44

😨11 lbs wow! Hopefully you won't have that!

EmmaJR1 · 12/06/2018 18:27

Hi everyone- I think it's one of those days. I've just sobbed my heart out because my 13 mths old ds wouldn't eat his dinner. Seriously I had snot bubbles and everything!

I hope you ladies (and me) all have movement soon so we can be a happy bunch again!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 12/06/2018 18:38

Hi all
When I was sat on the bed getting dressed and stood up, there was a small pool of fluid on the bed. Told the midwife how I have been feeling and about the fluid loss and I’ve been sent the hospital to check if my waters have broken. Been waiting for nearly two hours to be triaged with pains on and off. I know I’ll get sent home but midwife said I need to check because they only let you go 24hrs after waters braking

What a day for us Mummys. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for us all xxx

@Babyrowlandsmummy - thinking of you! Hopefully this is it! X

plainK · 12/06/2018 18:58

Thats good to know @2good as I was thinking I'd definitely go over if he/she's not even moved down yet. @carringtonm don't panic they would have sent you for growth scans if they were worried about the size. My midwife felt baby on Thursday and referred to it as chunky 😳

Awe! @babyrowlandsmummy fingers crossed this is it for you! No movement at all my end 🙄 baby hiccups is all I've got for today xx

2good · 12/06/2018 19:07

Best of luck babyrowlandsmummy hope they see you soon. That's a long time to leave you waiting!
