Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

I've been overly teary for a week now, crying at the drop of a hat! Also had the backache and contractions. 38 weeks and 2cm dilated so let's hope we're both nearly there!

Ask Jeremy Corbyn don't forget to vote

Teateaandmoretea · 06/06/2018 05:43

I think expecting to go into labour at 38 weeks is setting yourself up for massive disappointment as most people labour at 40+ if they go naturally and aren't induced. Yes some people are early/ it might happen but you need to try and chill and accept it could easily be 3 more weeks.

The engagement thing just means head is in pelvis. My second was 2/5 from 33 weeks and was born at 40+4 despite the midwife predicting she'd be early. All it meant was I spent 7 weeks feeling bloody uncomfortable.

But I sympathise, honestly. Pregnancy although a miracle was in no way an enjoyable experience for me either.

EmmaJR1 · 07/06/2018 08:56

Hi op are you feeling any better? No movement here except perhaps a bit of nesting and infuriation when my dh makes things messy 😂

Babyrowlandsmummy · 07/06/2018 16:52

Hey! No movement here either!! Had loose bowels yesterday (sorry for the TMI) so I thought I might be getting ready. Had some mild paint it s today. Tried the sage oil just now and some raspberry leaf tea so will keep you posted!
Totally get the infuriation with DH- like it’s not hard enough keeping on top of the cleaning- the sight of his underpants being left on the bathroom floor again send me over the edge!!
Keep me updated how you get on!!x

Had the midwife today and she didn't say anything to suggest I'm even close. I too have had loose stools and intermittent groin pain. Think it's just all the normal signs that we are close... just not bloody close enough! 😂

Babyrowlandsmummy · 07/06/2018 20:46

Agh 😫 that sucks. Did she mention where about baby’s head was? The groin pain is horrible isn’t it! At least we are in this together! Please keep me updated xx

Saw a midwife today when I was booking in at the MLU and baby's head is engaged! Woo hoo!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 08/06/2018 16:24

@EmmaJR1 that’s great news!!! Hope we go on the same day very soon! Xx

Yes! Monday night would be good, I've got a cinema date with dh I'd like first 😂

Babyrowlandsmummy · 09/06/2018 21:54

Im I going into labour fellow mummies? Caution: TMI below
I have had period cramps today, nausea, pains and heaviness in my noony and the runs. Do you think this is a sign that he’s on his way? Baby has definitely dropped but still having heart burn. Not been hungry all day but felt a tad emotional. It hurts the bottom of my bump when I poop too (sorry, I did warn about the TMI) xx

They are all good signs but don't get too excited! It's only disappointing if it doesn't happen immediately. Fingers crossed though! X

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 13:20

Any movement @Babyrowlandsmummy ?

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 13:21

@EmmaJR1 hey! Still having some pains and nausea and I’ve lost my appetite. I’m trying to go by your advice and not get my hopes up- it mite be a tummy bug.. he’s got my hopes up last week! How are you? Xx

40+2 and totally fed up... I could have written your OP myself... I'm bouncing on this ball like my life depends on it 😫

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 13:50

@BumpInTheOven aww you poor thing!! I’m only just 39 wks so you must be totally and utterly fed up. Plus the heat don’t help does it? Have you tried Clary Sage oil or rasberry leaf tea? Have you had any symptoms apart from feeling irritated? Xx

OP posts:
BumpInTheOven · 10/06/2018 14:32

Had a clear out a week ago and thought something might be moving but alas... nothing.. tried pineapples, curry, sex, dates, clary sage massage, bouncing, scrubbing floors, nipple stimulation the works... I'm not a tea (of any kind) fan but might have to grin and bear it.. no other clues really, no show, just irritable and some periody type aches which I've had for weeks 😫😫 xx

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 14:48

@BumpInTheOven sounds like we are in exactly the same place but you have endured it much longer :( keep trying not to get my hopes up. Keep me posted on how you go. At least your not alone!! Xx

plainK · 10/06/2018 15:15

Can I join in too? Grin I feel I'm in the same boat as you guys

38+6 and completely fed up, my bump seems to ache constantly... Just been playing golf in the hopes it gets things moving!

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 15:17

@BumpInTheOven I went to 40+8 with my son last May so I feel your pain. Have you had a sweep? It worked first time for me.

@Babyrowlandsmummy I'm tired, teary, achy fanny and feel like Ive done 2000 sit ups but don't think I'm close yet!
I hope it's not a tummy upset for you because they are all labour signs if not symptoms so keep feeling positive.

Thinking of you all! X

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 15:19

@plainK aww of course! Welcome to the “Is this baby playing with my emotions” club! I think we should ground our children when they arrive!
To add to my nausea I now have shooting pains inside my Mary moo and he’s using my bladder as a pillow 👍 xx

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 15:21

@EmmaJR1 aww thanks hun. The achy fanny is the worst. My fella has stopped listening to me complain now which I think is the least he can do! All I ask of him is for a sympathetic “aww”!
Gonna go for a little walk. Hope we all have our little monsters next week 🙏🏻 Xxxx

plainK · 10/06/2018 15:23

Thanks! It's nice to have others who understand, my partner's being very sympathetic but obviously doesn't understand how utterly horrible it is! Ftm so terrified but can't wait to go into labour so I can feel normal again!

BumpInTheOven · 10/06/2018 15:40

Emma, not yet, MW said she'd do one Friday 41W.. wish I could do more walking etc but my PGP (all over pelvic pain) has morphed into really bad at the frontal pubic bone.. having issues opening legs to walk... uggggh can't wait for pregnancy hormones to dissipate.. you're right though it helps knowing others are going through it too.. fingers crossed for speedily labours xx
