Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

@carringtonm I couldn't imagine another 9 days of this 😩 I feel for you! For all of us... I think I have reduced amno as my bump is so painful and achy I can feel everything! I went for a scan 4 weeks ago and she said it was on the lower side so must be even lower than low! I miss lying on my belly, gin and having a proper wee!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 23:27

Things I won’t miss: waking up everytime I wanna roll over in bed making a “oooff” everytime I bend down
flip flops
Strangers telling me I look ready to pop
Walking like I’ve shat my pants
The maternity pillow that’s like the Berlin Wall between me and hubs
The panic when you run out of Rennies in the middle of the night
My feet resembling Cornish pasties
Feeling like I’ve been kicked by a donkey right in the fanny bone

@babyrowlandsmummy 😂😂😂 yes! All of those things!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 23:59

Anyone had/have a very tight painful feeling under the bump and the feeling of needing a poop? That’s how I feel now when I stand up x

I love the moment when you first wake up and don't feel like a bloated heavy irritable incubator! 😂

I'm delaying getting up so it lasts a little longer.

Good luck today ladies. Look after yourselves and may we all pop soon! X

2good · 11/06/2018 09:21

Ah ladies, another day and we're still here! Things I won't miss:
Trying to roll over in bed without hurting myself or bump
Getting out of bed and the pain in my feet/legs when I put them on the ground
The last 3 weeks of daily text messages saying "any news? ?" or "any movement??"... oh hang on, let me check, yep had the baby, just forgot to tell everyone Hmm
I really don't want to be induced but if I get to 42 weeks (in a few days) it will probably be a relief at that stage!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 11/06/2018 09:44

@2good ugh those texts are annoying!!! Or when you say it’s a couple of weeks till due day and they say “not long!” Not long? Tell you what, I’ll tie some bricks to your tummy, pump your body up till it swells

Babyrowlandsmummy · 11/06/2018 09:46

... kick you between the legs, give you heart burn, tell you that in a matter of weeks you will be in the worst pain of your life and then tell you a few weeks is not long!!
I know they mean well but 😩😩😩😩

I won’t miss checking my knickers every time I have a wee to see if I’ve lost the plug or googling every twinge / symptoms to see if it’s labour related!
I will miss people letting me que jump in shops or getting the best seats in BBQs tho. That’s nice 😊

Agreed on the texts. I had at least ten people wish me a ' happy due date' on Friday. As if I'd have forgotten!

Still no signs this morning, so another day of sitting on my ball waiting for DP to get home it is.

EmmaJR1 · 11/06/2018 10:06

@Babyrowlandsmummy sometimes you won't even notice the plug going so you're checking for nothing! SO FRUSTRATING!

We need to be positive- we are at the end! Think of those poor women still in the first trimester with morning sickness and all this yet to come. Still waiting for the biggest lie of pregnancy ever - glowing skin and beautiful hair! 😂😂😂

2good · 11/06/2018 10:36

babyrowlandsmummy 😂😂😂that's a good way of describing it. Sure hasn't the time just flown by? Maybe for them😕
You're right EmmaJr1 I've a couple of friends in 2nd tri and I have to say that's tough too because you're still working & commuting and the end is a long way off. I used to be told on a daily basis "you're glowing"... I just have really good makeup- tons of concealer & blusher to create that 'glow'. My poor DH saw the real colour of my skin every day! 😂

2good · 11/06/2018 10:37

Carrington well done for sitting on the ball all day! .. I find it very uncomfortable/tiring on my back. . just about manage half an hour a day.

plainK · 11/06/2018 11:10

Morning ladies, don't you just love waking up in pain on a Monday morning and realising you've got another day of waiting ahead. So painful turning over in bed now. I second the birthing ball, I only get on it when I can't get comfy on the settee anymore. Come on babies!

carringtonm · 11/06/2018 13:29

I changed my plans and made a huge list of little house jobs that need doing and have made a start on that.

I have sorted out the baby's clothes so many times already and people keep buying us new ones so I've re-sorted all of those this morning. Done them so that all the sleeveless body suits are together, and then the full babygros, and any 'outfits' are hanging up. Then I sorted all the toiletries and bedding/towels so it's all got a place to live and the nursery looks lovely!

It's made me feel less impatient. Don't know if I'll be as keen to clean the toilets when I get to that on my list!

carringtonm · 11/06/2018 13:32

Also, if any of you are particularly keen to breastfeed then I'd recommend this book. It's got some bits in there about co-sleeping too which I'm not 100% convinced about (probably because of the scaremongering around it) but the feeding stuff is really clear, and I think it'll come in handy when the baby arrives too.

@carringtonm thanks for the recommendation. I'm hoping to bf so I'll have a look. Ive been told it can be quite difficult and painful too 😳 Awe I love going through all the baby clothes, nothing more to do now though. I got a lot done last week and tired myself out, hasn't helped move the baby along though. One of my friends sat on her bum playing the playstation whilst she was waiting for her baby, he came 10 days early and she had him in 4 hours 🙄 decided to take a leaf out of her book and haven't done anything yet

carringtonm · 11/06/2018 19:17

Been having some strange tightenings for the last couple of hours - they feel like Braxton Hicks in my stomach but there's also a tight feeling 'down below' and it reminds me of that heavy feeling when my period is due... They're not painful but I do have a dull backache. Could this be it? 😬

plainK · 11/06/2018 19:35

Ooh! Good luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻could have been sorting all the baby clothes out. When I asked I was told I'd know it was contractions 😕 but if you've never felt them before I don't think you would in the early stages. Keep us updated!

2good · 11/06/2018 21:37

Carrington that sounds exactly like how they described it to us in antenatal class. Fingers crossed for you!

carringtonm · 11/06/2018 21:54

Everything has stopped so I'm assuming it wasn't the start 😫😒

EmmaJR1 · 11/06/2018 22:25

Oh no! The false hope is worse than anything!

Dh and I just went to the cinema - my baby does NOT like loud noise and she kicked the 💩 out of me!!!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow then ladies! X

2good · 11/06/2018 22:33

Sorry to hear that carrington. Oh cinema, good idea! Yeah mine is kicking me in the ribs harder and harder every day- probably because it's frickin' huge at this stage!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 11/06/2018 23:01
