Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

Hey guys I'm not infected I don't think, all seems to be healing fine. I think it's maybe the pain of sitting on the toilet and straining stitches so I have weed in the bath last night and today. I managed to go today without suppositories so I'm hoping that makes a difference from now on.

Awe what a lovely name, bfeeding does take up so much time so I don't blame you. This is my first so i don't have to worry about that but my dogs are deffinitely feeling jealous!

EmmaJR1 · 22/06/2018 16:10

@plainK the dogs definitely jealous too! She's my shadow lately - see attached 😂

Thanks guys she is beautiful and apparently Naomi means my greatest joy so we thought that was s beautiful sentiment!

Hi ladies sorry haven't been on in a bit. Our little one is almost a week old Smile. wellfuckmeinbothears I'm so sorry for your loss. You sound like such a lovely person and are still making nice comments to us all so thank you.

Can't believe this time last week I was 2 hours into my 27 hour labour (shudder to think of it). Been a busy first week trying to establish a sleeping and feeding pattern while in so much pain.

I'm formula feeding, but i take my hat off to you bf ladies. I've just seen so many of my friends go through such ordeals with it that I didn't want to put us both through it and chose to ff from day 1.

How's everyone healing? A friend asked where it hurt earlier this week and I was like well....working upwards- at front swollen and sore from episitomy, at back 2 big hemmorhoids, womb heavy and tender, boobs like rocks as milk comes in and dries up (cabbage leaves are brill for that), head pounding from lack of sleep.... but today most of that is much better. Except stitches... were better yesterday but worse today?? Apparently that can happen.

A great tip to get baby to sleep which we discovered yesterday (after 5 days of zero sleep) is to swaddled the baby! It literally works like magic Smile

plainK · 23/06/2018 17:56

Awe @EmmaJR1 these are ours trying to be involved the morning after we brought him home. They're very gentle now.

@2good glad you're doing well. I heard as you're healing it gets tighter so stitches hurt more. And yes! Swaddling the most amazing thing! We got a gro swaddle 2 nights ago and can now function in the day because we've slept!

Hi Ladies sorry not be on I've literally hibernating cause I'm either going to murder my husband on throw up on him! Glad to see updates from you lovely lot but stop with the scary toilet stories lol how are we all feeling in all seriousness scary toilet stories included 😉 Can't believe I have 4 days to go xxx

EmmaJR1 · 23/06/2018 19:46

Hello! Try not to kill your dh - you'll need him afterwards!

I am highly emotional, crying a lot and easily irritated so much like I was before giving birth! 😂 bloody hormones!

In the plus side I have had no problems pooing and seeing, no pain no stitches and no horrid labour story so I'm counting
I'm myself very lucky!

plainK · 23/06/2018 21:09

Sorry to scare you @lucky it's honestly not as bad as I imagined having a tear, you'll be one of the lucky ones like @emmaJR1 anyway 😉 x

BrutusMcDogface · 23/06/2018 21:12

It sounds bonkers but you really do forget all of the tough and horrid stuff!

LuckygoLucy · 23/06/2018 21:39

I really can't remember the first time round it was 9 years ago. just trying to get organised and I love your stories even the pooey parts it's all motherhood isn't it and it's amazing. you can quote me on that later when I'm a sleep deprived mess!! I know I will but I think I'm getting so annoyed because I'm freaking out that he not going to be any help. Which is stupid cause j know he will but I'm being weirdly emotional.... The ironing can suck it too lol xxx

2good · 24/06/2018 17:16

Thanks plaink I thought it was just tightening but it was getting worse and worse all on one side... just back from doctor and it's actually infected Sad and because the infection was untreated for a few days he thinks I have an abscess in my labia Sad. There's 2 words I never thought I'd use in same sentence, bleurgh. He's put me on 2 types of antibiotics and 2 types of painkiller so hopefully will start feeling some relief soon...luckygolucy I won't scare you with the details of the toilet adventures as a result

plainK · 25/06/2018 20:50

Hey guys my little man has been registered today, official little person 😁 feel so proud.

@lucky any movements? I bet when it comes down to it he will be. Mine was in charge of my medication and everything, I was so sleep deprived I had no idea what I was even supposed to take and when. He did all the washing up, washing, cooking... Honestly couldn't have got through the first week without him. Sad he's going back to work 😔

Ooh ouch @2good that sounds aweful 😖 have a bath with some lavender oil in a tiny bit of milk that might ease the pain a little and help with the healing xx

carringtonm · 25/06/2018 21:26

@2good My midwife said not to use anything on the area except water so I found pouring a jug or bottle of water down as I went for a wee REALLY helped (but might depend where your stitches are), and using a weak shower head to wash below and then a hairdryer to dry (I didn't wipe or towel dry for at least ten days). I would pour the water when I went to the loo and then just hairdryer straight away (used the cool setting). It kept the pain at bay but it is horrible. Once the antibiotics kick in it healed really quickly though so cling onto that hope!

Hope everyone else is doing well. My baby is managing to feed from the breast using nipple shields now so not needing to express as often which is making my life so much easier. We're still needing to top up his feed with the bottle but some feeds are exclusively on the breast now. All steps in the right direction. Can't believe he's 12 days already!

2good · 26/06/2018 02:18

Thanks carrington I'm doing that with the water and I've a little fan to dry it. Hopefully that will help. I think our baby has colic. Been awake screaming all night the last 3 nights and the only relief she gets is on your shoulder tapping her back. This is so hard!

carringtonm · 26/06/2018 03:19

@2good Oh bless her - best advice I've had so far is to remember that EVERYTHING is a phase. It's so hard when you're at the end of your rope and the baby is screaming... again! But it will pass. You're doing amazingly - keep going!

plainK · 29/06/2018 18:17

How's everyone getting on? Any new babies? 😊 We are really not enjoying this heat... 🔥 No good for babies or pregnant ladies! Stay cool guys!

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 29/06/2018 18:33

I’m hating this heat, really feel for all of you still pregnant/with teeny tiny babies!

We’re doing lots of trying. Not sure when I’m due to ovulate due to the miscarriage but we’re just trying everyday. Everything (except my legs Blush) crossed we’ll get there!

Hope all you lovely ladies are ok and keeping cool xx

LuckygoLucy · 30/06/2018 08:33

I'm out.... I'm free .... Hello ladies. Just done a quick catch up on news seems like things are going really well and not so well but your all smashing it like pros!!

So drum roll please ....
Baby Lily Grace born on the 27th at10.17 weighing in at 7/11. Baby is absolutely fine, main reason we were kept in was because of me and even then I got my self discharged after talking to my consultant earlier than planned was meant to be in MINIMUM of 5 days lol I did 3 if you include day 0 of baby being born. xxx

TinyTerror1 · 30/06/2018 11:59

Congratulations luckygolucy, great news and lovely name :)

plainK · 30/06/2018 17:41

Fingers crossed @well 🤞🏻

Awe @lucky congratulations, beautiful name!

My little Otis had his first photoshoot today 😁 and he was such a good boy! x

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 30/06/2018 17:50

I love the name Otis!

Congratulations on your beautiful little bndjd Lucy!

Dh and I had a sad conversation last night, we were talking about baby names and then it just sort of hit us that not having a little one is a very real possibility. We have our lovely(!) teenage dd and our lovely step daughters but we’re really struggling with the possibility that we won’t have anymore. But that’s just the way it goes, we’re so lucky to have our girls.

Hope you’re all well lovely ladies xx

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 30/06/2018 17:50

Bundle not bndjd!

plainK · 01/07/2018 18:07

Awe thank you @well 😊

plainK · 01/07/2018 18:10

It must be so hard for you, try not to put any pressure on yourself. I've heard once you stop trying it can happen and it helps to take away the stresses xx
