Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

I think you know your ready for labour when you would rather go through that pain than continue with this discomfort. Big hugs keep us updated xx

@BumpInTheOven I forgot to mention, I get really bad pubic bone pain, especially after sitting or lying down. I Find it really helps if I put the soles of my feet together and slowly let my legs go to the side (like the horrible position they put you in for smears) and gently stretch. Sometimes I hear a pop or a click and the pain eases and I’m able to get up. The pain goes completely for a short while but allows me to at least get up and go the loo. Hope it helps xx

Are we all on 2nd pregnancies? My midwife keeps telling me she thinks my labour is going to be around 3 hours so I'm not to delay going to the hospital! 😂 talk about false hope!
I have VERY intense pressure in my fanny area tonight. 😳 x

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 19:35

No this is my 1st! Hence why I have no idea what’s going on haha! Omg your midwife was able to tell you it’s only 3 hrs?! That’s brill! I say only... I have no idea what it feels like. Hopefully that pressure in your Mary moo is the baby edging his/her way to the finish line! If you go before me I’m gonna be happy for you but spend the day sobbing on my birthing ball 😜 xxxx

I feel your pain😕. I'm currently 41+1 and am finding it pretty tough. I've had bad sciatica down one side for the last 6 mths, can barely walk, sleeping is a joke. I've heard pelvic pain is awful too you poor thing Flowers.
I don't really get emotional, although this morning after yet another night of 2 hours sleep I cried and felt like I can't do this anymore!
Things I'm trying to bring on labour (no idea if they work) in case you want some:
-Eating pineapple, dates & curries
-Drinking raspberry leaf tea
-Bouncing on ball, rolling hips on ball
-Doing squats & lunges
-Walking
-Sex (if you can manage it- we just do the foreplay, there's literally no position that suits with the sciatica & massive belly).

Oh and recently my husband asked if I wanted a "nipple cripple" 😂😂😂😂. I think he was getting mixed up as he read something about nipple stimulation helping. It gave me a laugh if nothing else!

Best of luck and hope you go very soon. It sounds like you might be very close, hopefully!

plainK · 10/06/2018 20:22

@babyrowlandsmummy I've had that pubic pain since 30 weeks! I'll be giving that a go tonight, getting rediculous now. One of my friends was induced 2 weeks early due to spd.

3 hours, that would be nice. Awe @2good I couldn't imagine this for another two weeks, hopefully you'll pop soon.

I'm sat here thinking of that lady who's just had her 21st baby... She must be insane!

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 20:33

Surely by baby 15 they just fall out? 😂

@Babyrowlandsmummy my son was born in 6.5 hours (natural- gas and air - no stitches) and she said 2nd babies are twice as quick.

I think because my last labour was so awesome this one is going to totally knock me for 6... I'm not counting on anything!

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 20:35

@2good you have to pop soon surely?!? You poor thing. Hopefully tomorrow is the day for you!!! X

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 20:38

@Babyrowlandsmummy the feeling of actually giving birth is indescribable - my sister and I had babies 4 months apart and I'm not allowed to talk about my labour with her because she threatens to maim me! 😂

Hers was horrendous mine was amazing.

I would say that I don't actually remember it being painful - honestly... the worst part for me was the stingy in and out catheter I had to have. I know I'm really lucky though. Or maybe I need to tighten up down there??? 😂😂😂😂

plainK · 10/06/2018 20:46

@EmmaJR1 I imagine they did 😂 but I don't think I'll be testing that theory, for now I'm content with just this one. It sounds like you were one of the lucky ones, as terrified as I am I'm also curious and even looking forward to it. It's the actual pushing part that scares me as you're inflicting the pain not like contractions that you can't control.

2good · 10/06/2018 21:04

Yeah plaink I can't imagine having more than 2 babies. .. pregnancy seems to last forever and takes over your life! Although maybe you just forget about lot of it afterwards!
Emmajr1 well they have me booked in for a scan on Thurs (day 12), and an induction next Sat (day 14). I really hope it just happens naturally before that though! That's brilliant that you had such a positive experience 😊

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 21:10

@plainK believe me when I say the pushing part is a relief because there's a bloody long time before that when you have to resist pushing!

My biggest advice would be to drink water so you wee, and if you can't eat have a sugary drink to keep your energy up right to the end. Walk around - do not lay down it slows things right down!

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 21:11

@2good I know I was really lucky - I'm really hoping you start moving soon. At least you know there's an end I. Sight though. Keep us updated x

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 21:12

@EmmaJR1 that’s funny you cant mention it to your sis!
I’ve opted for an epidural after watching One Born Every Minuet. I did fancy a water birth but scared how much people say it hurts and I can’t bear the thought of the little net 💩
I’ve been told by the midwife the pushing relives the pain but the worst part is when the head crowns and it feels like a Chinese Burn down there! My biggest fear is tearing 🙈
@2good I hope you go before your induced! Keep us updated! Best of luck! 💐

I'm only 34 weeks and already feeling all of the above- aaagh!! Good luck ladies, hope you're not waiting too much longer! Smile

EmmaJR1 · 10/06/2018 21:15

I had a water labour it was amazing and I didn't 💩! 😂
The water conserved my energy I think. They got me out to examine me and I didn't have enough time between contractions to get back in so my ds popped out on a bean bag.

Chinese burn😂😂😂 that's the perfect way to describe crowning! Very accurate!

plainK · 10/06/2018 21:23

@2good hopefully it will happen naturally, I'd hate to be induced. I've heard it's a lot more painful. But at least you know it's finally happening!

@EmmaJR1 good advice thank you, I've packed a couple of those lucosade drinks in my hospital bag.

@babyrowlandsmummy I've decided on a water birth. The thought of an epidural scares me. I've heard you get the runs before so less chance of 💩 net being needed 😁

carringtonm · 10/06/2018 21:41

@BumpInTheOven I'm 40+2 today too and absolutely miserable. Nothing seems to be happening and I'm an emotional wreck! I've had 'signs' for weeks now - loose stools, increased discharge, period cramps, tightenings, nausea, mood swings. I lost my mucus plug on Thursday and was convinced something was going to happen but it hasn't. I feel everyone's pain - I just wish it was labour pains I could bloody feel!!!!

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 22:24

@BumpInTheOven I am absolutely devastated that we share the same symptoms yet yours has been happening for weeks!!! I thought it will be over in a few days (although trying not to get hopes up) omg 😭 why does pregnancy last forever. We were pregnant all over Christmas and new year so no drinks and now we melt in the sun whilst our bodies play cruel cruel tricks on us! I really hope one of us pops this week to give the rest of us hope!! Xxx

All I want is to sleep on my front and have a margarita 😭😭😩😩xx

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 22:37

Sorry that was meant for @carringtonm xx

Babyrowlandsmummy · 10/06/2018 22:39

@BumpInTheOven I would love to put pants on without sitting down and put on normal shoes.. ooh and to be able to take the plug out the bath and not create a dam behind me 👍 or drive without getting a mark on my top off the steering wheel xx

OP posts:
BumpInTheOven · 10/06/2018 22:44

Oooh, being able to put pants on's also on the list... and being able to pick things up off the floor... xx

carringtonm · 10/06/2018 22:45

@Babyrowlandsmummy It's so depressing. I genuinely thought I'd have him by now. Had a sweep on Wednesday and was told that his head was low and that I was 2cm dilated at that point and other than losing my plug on Thursday morning, NOTHING has happened. I am so grumpy and miserable and poor DP must be sick to death of me. I had a four hour nap this afternoon purely to pass the time. I'm too uncomfortable to go out and about so am just in the house on my birthing ball. I just don't feel like he's coming anytime soon. My neighbour has an 8 week old and whenever I hear him crying I feel even more ragey! I just want my boy out!!!

carringtonm · 10/06/2018 22:45

@BumpInTheOven Can I add being able to get off the sofa or out of bed without help?
