Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

Congratulations Grumpy that's a beautiful name.

Breastfeeding is difficult even if you don't struggle to latch, I'm starting to realise. Hoping it gets easier.

BumpInTheOven · 20/06/2018 18:40

Baby bump born 16.06 weighing 9.5lbs xx

TinyTerror1 · 20/06/2018 19:39

plainK · 20/06/2018 19:50

Congratulations @bumpintheoven fantastic news!! x

LuckygoLucy · 20/06/2018 20:12

Sorry Ladies Baby Bump wins name of the year!! Congratulations bigger bump lol how are you doing?

Plaink looking back all those years ago (9) it's hard to remember the issues but I remember her being placed on breast and then that night she was taken else where and wasn't there when I woke up so I'm guessing they must have had to bottle feed her and I don't remember feeding her anything in hospital but i must of because I was in for 2 days!! I came home and tried to feed but just couldn't woukd make sense if she was used to bottle but meh... tbh I was back in hospital without DD as she wasn't allowed near me 4 days later so probably good that she was established on formula which leads kinda to my next post....

LuckygoLucy · 20/06/2018 20:14

Please ignore the awful awful hair line I can't see it to sort it lol but due to the excessive scar tissue you see down there I can't tell if I'm getting booted/punched along scar line or weather it's tightenings lol just shoot me haha!!! xxx

EmmaJR1 · 20/06/2018 21:28

Hello everyone, congratulations to the new babies.

@Wellfuckmeinbothears I'm so sorry to hear your news. Please don't think you can't post here. You can and should. We are all here for each other.

I'm Day 5 and I've decided to FF after crying for 2 days! Mainly because I haven't been able to cuddle/play/interact with my 1 yo ds since we got home and it was killing me! He started to look straight for his dad instead of me! I'm heartbroken I'm no longer bf but tonight I got to play with him And put him to bed...

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 20/06/2018 21:40

Hi all and Congratulations on all the loveky new babies! Well done all of you.

I’ve definitely had a miscarriage, HGC levels are dropping according to my bloods and still bleeding very heavily along with painful cramps. Obviously we are heart broken but I’m very lucky to have my dd (15 now and god don’t I know it!) and our dsd’s so counting my blessings. Dh has been amazing, he always is. I’m very lucky.

Hope you’re all ok and thank you so so much for all your kind messages, I feel like a bit of a fraud posting on your thread but it helps x

LuckygoLucy · 20/06/2018 22:01

if it helps post away we are all here for you!! I'm very sorry for your loss!!

EmmaJR1 Hello 👋 Sorry to hear BF has not gone well But you gave it 1000000% so Well Done!! I'm sure your DS will be ignoring daddy and coming back to you very quickly lol xxx

carringtonm · 20/06/2018 23:36

@EmmaJR1 I feel your pain. Had to put mine on formula alongside expressing but I feel like all I do is express and I don't even have enough to cover one of his feeds, can't imagine throwing a toddler into the mix.

After baby's weight loss dropping to 11% on Monday he's put on 13oz after being weighed today! Feeling accomplished even if all we have done is express, sterilise and feed for days on end. I feel like I'm starting to enjoy him more finally.

@plainK Hope you managed to poo! I used suppositories but they didn't work so have had to resort to an enema - DP is going to collect the prescription now (good old NHS 111!) I'm soooo uncomfortable so praying it works.

carringtonm · 20/06/2018 23:36

Very sad to hear your news @Wellfuckmeinbothears Thanks

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 21/06/2018 07:35

@carringtonm Thank you. After I had my dd I was terrified to poo, I had a 3rd degree tear as she was born with forceps and I had to have a general anaesthetic to be sewn up. As soon as I sat on the loo I felt like my whole mini was going to fall out! I ended up having an enema too as they wouldn’t let me home until I’d gone and I cannot describe the relief! Hope it works for you x

plainK · 21/06/2018 08:26

I wonder if it was right for us, as my partner hasn't had as much opportunity to bond and it's all the time and we're trying to get him going in his own bed... But as of last night I feel like there's more of a routine, so going to stick with it a bit longer. But my god my boobies are sore!

Yes! Omg the relief! 💩 It wasn't pretty though. After two suppositories (tmi sorry) I ended up having to use some gloves and poke it out as it was stuck! 🤢

LuckygoLucy · 21/06/2018 11:47

😲😲😲😲😲

plainK · 21/06/2018 12:26

I know! What even?! 😫😫 This baby making is alot more brutal than they tell you... No dignity anymore

carringtonm · 21/06/2018 13:06

Haha the dignity is long gone. The GP needed to look at my stitches on Monday and actually put the curtain around the bed for me to get changed behind. It was a treat compared to labour and after birth where everyone was just there looking at everything. Just been and registered our little boy - he's official! 😍

EmmaJR1 · 21/06/2018 13:21

@carringtonm you are cracking me up! But it's so true. I gave birth on all fours with 3 midwives and a student all looking up my wazoo. Then once that bits over and I'm resting before delivering the placenta they ask if I'd like a blanket to cover my bits?!? I mean what's the point after that???

carringtonm · 21/06/2018 21:33

@EmmaJR1 😂 No point at all! Having my legs in stirrups getting stitches was the highlight for me - especially needing four separate people to put a finger up my arse to make sure I didn't have a third degree tear. Then after I was all stitched up, the midwife asked if I minded her putting a suppository in. I was like 'you've spent 45 minutes starting at my fanny and have already had a finger up my bum more than once - I think we're well-acquainted enough now.'

How is everyone getting on? Today is the first day I've felt back to some physical and mental normality - we have been out and about as a three today and I'm not in constant pain down below. My baby does have a gunky left eye though - does anyone know at what point this is a GP issue? How normal is it?

BrutusMcDogface · 21/06/2018 23:43

Carrington- gunky eyes are pretty normal- blocked tear ducts I think. Wipe with cooled boiled water on a fresh cotton ball for each wipe, or squirt some breastmilk in there Smile are you still getting midwife/hv visits? Sorry I can't remember how long ago you had your baby!

plainK · 22/06/2018 01:07

Awe @carringtonm we've been out for our first day as a 3 today too, celebrating 7 days old. Starting to feel more myself again but i dont think the painkillers have helped as they make me feel so spaced! and my down belows feel worse than ever! So painful and I've started to struggle to wee 🙁 like it's right there but won't come out, so I end up sitting there feeling like I'm putting strain on my stitches... Oh when will I get my body back?

plainK · 22/06/2018 01:10

Oh! and yey to being a real person!! 🎉🎉

carringtonm · 22/06/2018 03:43

@plainK Has a midwife checked your stitches? Could be infected like mine were and not weeing is really not good! Might need to see a GP.

@BrutusMcDogface He's 9 days today (Friday). We don't see a midwife now until Tuesday. I put some breast milk on it and it does seem to have improved so I'll keep an eye and then ask on Tuesday if it's still a consistent problem. Thanks.

EmmaJR1 · 22/06/2018 07:29

@plainK can you wee in a warm bath? If that doesn't work I think you definitely need checking over. Stopping weeing is a bad sign my lovely and the pain should be easier to bear now not worse. Do you have a temperature or feel hot and cold? X

EmmaJR1 · 22/06/2018 07:32

Baby Naomi slept well last night. Since swapping to formula she's got straight in to 3 hourly feeds which means lots of sleeping and my 1yo gave me spontaneous kisses and cuddles yesterday for the first time since she's been here which really validated my decision to stop bf. I was a big crying mess and he couldn't under why bless him! I was just so happy! 😂

BrutusMcDogface · 22/06/2018 10:09

Sounds fab, Emma! Those hormones have a lot to answer for! Wink

Naomi is a beautiful name Smile
