Reduced Movement 37 Weeks...waiting...

Hello,

Currently doing the "lay on my side for 2 hours" thing as advised by a midwife when I phoned up worried about reduced movement. I'm 37+3 and got the feeling they were super busy when I phoned :(

Half an hour in and haven't felt a thing and getting super super worried! I'm not sure if I've felt little flutters but they are just cushioned now due to the baby being so big?

Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks!

Ok, just had quite a long chat with the consultant. explained everything that had been going on and she said she needed to take it seriously etc etc and has gone away to speak to a colleague about what to do.

That's good.

Sushirolls · 01/04/2018 01:43

I think you may be meeting your little one soon 💕 I'm so glad that they're taking you seriously Flowers

Is your OH with you now? Xo

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 01:44

So they are going to keep me overnight and scan me at somepoint - either on the night shift if they can or when the shift changes at 9am. Potentially something wrong with the placenta so they just want to check.
Would love my own bed but nevermind!!

@Sushirolls an April fool's baby!!

Just waiting on the consultant coming back with a plan - I took the car so potentially if there isn't a bed for me just yet I can nip home and pick up OH and the overnight bag and come back to the bed being ready :) otherwise he can just get a taxi up with the bag but might be a bit of a wait now considering the time on a Saturday night!!

Ahh! What a lovely Easter gift 😍

Will they monitor you through the night?! Whereabouts are you based? Maybe if there is someone local, they could drop OH to you? X

I fell asleep and woke up thinking of you. Glad you're in the right place. Take not shit from the midwives, as wonderful as most of them are you get the odd one that shouldn't be in the job...

If you aren't feeling your normal movement, scream and shout and tell them to delivery baby asap. Mammies instinct is way above professional advice at times.

Wishing you and baby all the best and hope to wake up in the morning to some lovely news. (Will you feel you'd have to name him Jesus if he's a boy? Grin)

InThisTogether · 01/04/2018 02:24

Good luck OP and hang in there... better to be firm with the midwives than some of the heartaching stories above. You're not there to make friends, you're there as a mama.
Is it your first baby? I had my little boy 4 months ago and he's the most wonderful beautiful thing that's ever happened in my life. Not long til yours will be here ❤

PeachesandPie · 01/04/2018 03:04

Hope you've been seen by the consultant OP. Please push for a scan to check all is ok. I had reduced movements at 41 weeks which picked up again after a trace so all assumed to be fine. Midwife had already decided to send me for a scan by that point which turned out to be a life saver as the scan showed my waters had been leaking and there was very little fluid left. I was induced very quickly after the scan despite movements being fine again.

Good luck Flowers

Sushirolls · 01/04/2018 03:13

I hope that your being quiet means that you're on your way to welcoming your little one @MumApr18 Flowers thinking of you xo

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 03:16

Jeeeeez, right will do a full update when I can but long story short being induced! Getting first prostin (sp) shortly. Eeek!

Jenijena · 01/04/2018 03:26

Thinking of you - So glad you went in and hoping for a smooth labour. From an April fools mum,,.

YerAuntFanny · 01/04/2018 03:28

Oh wow, just read your update. So glad you chose to go in and that they're finally dealing with this effectively!

Hope all is well with you and baby. Good luck and just think you'll be meeting your little one soon :o

mogulfield · 01/04/2018 03:38

How exciting for you! Something doesn’t sound right (based on no medical experience what so ever!). But as a mum you know. Really glad they’re taking you seriously and getting baby out.

Lillygolightly · 01/04/2018 03:45

Good luck!

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 04:10

Thank you so much everyone. Can't believe this is happening! Thank god I tidied the house today haha.

Currently on the monitor again for 10 mins then getting the prostin and then on the monitor for another hour or so. Think it will be a slow process! Any prostin induction stories?

OP posts:
Bufferingkisses · 01/04/2018 04:21

Good luck op and well done for standing up for yourself. It's so hard to do sometimes!

I've no experience of induction but I'll be sending you baby vibes Flowers

HappyHedgehog247 · 01/04/2018 04:37

Good luck!! Well done for following your instincts and going in xx

Pigletthedog · 01/04/2018 04:45

Oooh OP, woke up to do a feed and had to check straight away to see how you were. I've had 3 very different labours (1 textbook perfect water birth with no pain relief, 1 induction with pessaries - is that prostin??, and 1 emergency c section). The induction was fine, once you get going, the contractions are pretty intense but it's going to happen anyway, that baby had got to come out 😊.

Sending hugs to wherever you are Thanks

Counter27 · 01/04/2018 04:48

All the best!! ThanksStar

Lmj25 · 01/04/2018 04:52

Good luck ! X

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 05:07

Thank you again everyone! Just had the first pessary (yes @Pigletthedog I think that's the prostin) and apparently I was already effaced and 1cm. Had the prostin in for about half an hour now and no pain or anything yet. All I can think about is the pile of washing I was planning on doing tomorrow! Nevermind :)
