Reduced Movement 37 Weeks...waiting...

Hello,

Currently doing the "lay on my side for 2 hours" thing as advised by a midwife when I phoned up worried about reduced movement. I'm 37+3 and got the feeling they were super busy when I phoned :(

Half an hour in and haven't felt a thing and getting super super worried! I'm not sure if I've felt little flutters but they are just cushioned now due to the baby being so big?

Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks!

Just read through this thread. I'm so glad you went in MumApr18. Good luck for today!

Ooh good luck lovely! Hand holding from here. You’ll be great. I had induction, it was fine but weird as you go from nothing to full on contractions!

scrivette · 01/04/2018 05:24

Just read through whilst feeding baby DD, best of luck, hopefully not long before you meet your Easter baby!

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 05:33

Oh me too!! Come on baby! I'm getting mild period like cramps but nothing too exciting yet. I hope it holds off until 9am ish as DP isn't allowed on this ward until then. Obvs if I go into fully blown labour before that he will get called up but missing his company!

I'm really glad you went in, I went in with reduced movement at 31 weeks and two hours later, DS was born via c section and was in the NICU. I feel so strongly that women should feel confident enough to speak out if they are worried at all. Good luck with the induction, will be thinking of you Flowers

Good luck op

Sew3stitch · 01/04/2018 05:46

This sounds scarily like you could be me! Very glad you are being induced, the same action was taken by my hospital and my daughter is asleep on me after feeding which I am thankful for every day.

You’re in the right place and my only advice is don’t be shy to ask for a c section if you feel it’s the best route to get your baby out safely. As someone said in the thread above, there’s only so much they can tell about the health of a baby from the outside and I truly believe a mother should trust her gut instinct.

Will be thinking of you x

I was induced with DS2. It took 16 hrs from pessary to baby. The majority of that was sat around reading or walking. The actual labour/pushing part was very quick. Good luck OP.

Was following your thread overnight while doing multiple night feeds (twins). So glad to hear they are inducing you. Well done for going in when you did. I've been induced twice; with first baby it was for same reason (reduced movement), I had pessary that time which worked quickly. I found that once the period pains started they got stronger over the course of about 3 hours and before long I was in full blown labor which lasted about 6 hours and my baby was born soon after without complication. Of course everyone is different and i was very lucky but I hope it goes just as smoothly for you. Don't be afraid to ask for pain relief!

Thank you for sharing your experiences ladies! I'm also so glad I came in when I did...also, as it's the middle of the night they didn't want to stick me and a noisy monitor machine in a general ward so I've got my own room haha.
Still only very mild period cramps but off the monitor now and doing wee laps of the room to try and get things moving.
I'm also conscious that I've now been up for almost 24 hours already...maybe I should try get some sleep before the pain kicks in?

Yes, sleep while you can! It’ll be the last you get for about 18 years. Good luck Wink

M0reGinPlease · 01/04/2018 06:23

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 06:39

So pleased you are being induced. I was induced at 36+3 after repeated episodes of rfm from one twin. I was literally in daily at one point. So pleased they are taking it seriously!
Hope all goes ok xxx

Just caught up, glad they took you seriously.

I was induced on the Tuesday night and DD was born early Friday morning. Good luck op, you’ll get new born snuggles really soon.
