Reduced Movement 37 Weeks...waiting...

Hello,

Currently doing the "lay on my side for 2 hours" thing as advised by a midwife when I phoned up worried about reduced movement. I'm 37+3 and got the feeling they were super busy when I phoned :(

Half an hour in and haven't felt a thing and getting super super worried! I'm not sure if I've felt little flutters but they are just cushioned now due to the baby being so big?

Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks!

Yes absolutely- your DP should be with you supporting you xxx

Bumblealong1 · 01/04/2018 00:30

I am wishing you lots of positivity and wellness. Great that the heartbeat is ok. I hope your little one is moving now..

Pigletthedog · 01/04/2018 00:30

I've been there and know how anxious a time it can be. No real words of advice because there aren't any that help (!) but there are lots of us thinking of you and wishing you well X

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 00:38

I got a big kick!! You know the belly shaking type? Heart rate shot up to 162. Phew. MW just appeared saying 10 mins more and then a consultant will view the trace I think.

Still going to point out that one big kick in the 40 mins or so I have been on the trace is still reduced movement though.

Good! A relief but yes, you're absolutely right xxx how are you feeling? Is your art net with you yet?

Mrsrochesterscat · 01/04/2018 00:45

I’m really sorry, I don’t want to scare you, but one big kick after a longer period of inactivity isn’t always a good sign.

Please please make a fuss and get that consultant in asap. Please get your DP - you need someone to be pushing on your behalf

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 00:48

Such a relief!! I'm emotionally drained lol. OH says he will come up but I'm just going to wait until the consultant views the trace - OH can literally be here in 10 mins or less and he's been texting me.

Getting such a numb bum sitting here but every time I move the trace thing falls off! Feel sorry for ladies who have to be constantly monitored during labour! How do you pee?!

Have you had a scan? I'd insist, and make sure you have a proper conversation with the consultant too.

pieceofpurplesky · 01/04/2018 00:53

Hope you get your answers soon

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 00:58

Still on the trace. Apparently the consultant is really busy tonight - I'm guessing it's going to take a while to see them. I'm still really not happy with the limited movements - it's gone quiet again :( MW seems to disappear for 20 mins at a time which isn't too handy either.

What about your DP? Is he with you yet?

Pigletthedog · 01/04/2018 01:02

Op, maybe it would be a good idea to get your husband to come up and support you. As pp have said, having an advocate is massively helpful, but also for moral support as you must be frightened.

Don't allow yourself to be made to feel that you are making a fuss, or that you are less important than someone in labour.

DaisyGiveMeYourAnswerDoo · 01/04/2018 01:04

ThanksThanks to you and your little one, OP. I'd definitely get your DP there. The fights well over now, so you don't have to feel bad (not that you should anyway).

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 01:07

Yeah I think I'm going to ask him to come up, even just to kill time.

The trace has been taken away to the consultant I presume but I've asked that the consultant also come see me before they say I can go or whatever it is. The MWs seem to think everything is fine and said baby is having a lazy day but would rather speak with the consultant as well I think as I'm not too happy

Sounds like a plan Smile

PinkAvocado · 01/04/2018 01:12

I was in hospital for reduced movements this week. They scanned me and said all was fine but I said I wasn’t happy to leave because the movements were still reduced to the point where if I was at home I’d be calling in so surely they shouldn’t be sending me home. I was induced not long after and my son had to have a wire attached to his head during labour as he and I both had a weird turn. Always trust your instincts.

Sushirolls · 01/04/2018 01:16

By my calculations from your posts, you were hooked up about 11.40pm and little one has only done 1 kick? X

I'd deffo be having my DP put his foot down on your behalf OP x I'd ask them to at least do a quick scan as I think they can check blood flow through the cord? Flowers for you xo must be so worrying xo

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 01:16

Exactly! I just know instinctively that I don't think something is right. Definitely going to push it until I feel satisfied that everything is ok. I've been actively monitoring movements since at least 8pm yesterday and have felt 3, maybe 4, at the absolute most - surely that's not ok and the consultant will see it on the trace.

So tired though, needing bed!! Not sure how I will cope if I need to be induced right now.

Sushirolls · 01/04/2018 01:18

I hope you get to speak to the consultant soon xo

MumApr18 · 01/04/2018 01:21

@Sushirolls thank you - me too! Been here almost 5 hours now. Either need my bed or a baby now. Either will do at the moment!!!

Keep pushing op. My baby had a very rare complication which I'm sure won't be the case for you but it meant those monitor traces looked perfect as it averages the number of beats over time etc, but she actually had svt so her heart was beating far too quickly. I got sent away from one hospital (we already new what the complication was but thought it was being controlled by medication) and went to a bigger one were they did a scan and saw things were not right despite what the ctg showed. Like I say a very rare complication but it just shows sometimes instinct is stronger than machine, hope you get the all clear soon tho and can get some sleep 🙂

Haggisfish · 01/04/2018 01:22

Oh gosh I hope you get good news soon and some rest.

ClaireFraser · 01/04/2018 01:23

You have to make a fuss OP, you are your baby's advocate and they are the most important thing in your world.

Be polite but do not be fobbed off if you're not happy with their answers, make yourself a list of questions. Be the squeaky wheel.

It doesn't matter what they may think of you, you're not making a fuss or being a pest, you and your baby's health is the most important thing. I know it's hard and can feel like you're possibly making a fuss about nothing, but far far better that than a poorly baby.

I was induced with DC2 at 37wks dye to reduced fetal movement, five episodes in total, he was fine in the end, but consultant told me they only know so much whilst baby in womb and some things can't be picked up til baby out. At 37wks you're at term with a viable baby,

If you have to have induction, I promise you it's not that bad, but do be prepared for contractions to potentially ramp up pretty quickly. I have been induced with both my DC, I had been adamant no epidural , was v v glad to have in first labour, and didn't need one in second labour. I think what I'm trying to say in my sleep deprived- wrangling-with a snotty grumpy baby state,is that induction not sobs thing to be scared of, but do have to just go with it.

Thinking of you and hope everything ok

Sushirolls · 01/04/2018 01:24

Personally, I'd refuse to budge, but I'm a stubborn cow 🙈😂 hopefully, your OH will be with you soon and can kick off on your behalf Wink xo

IronicWittyUsername · 01/04/2018 01:29

Hope all ok xx
