Reduced Movement 37 Weeks...waiting...

Hello,

Currently doing the "lay on my side for 2 hours" thing as advised by a midwife when I phoned up worried about reduced movement. I'm 37+3 and got the feeling they were super busy when I phoned :(

Half an hour in and haven't felt a thing and getting super super worried! I'm not sure if I've felt little flutters but they are just cushioned now due to the baby being so big?

Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks!

Just to update you all since you were all so kind! My little baby boy is now home and we are doing great - breastfeeding is an absolute torture but I'm sure we will get there and I'm certainly not the only woman to have felt this!

Thank you all again for your support and help..it really helped get me through those long scary nights :)

The best breastfeeding advice I was given for the early days was - grit your teeth and count to 10!

It does get easier and pain free, but I found with all of mine that the start of the early feeds did hurt a bit but not for long and after a week or two (it's been a while!) there was no pain at all, not even at the start of a feed. We are told that repeatedly it shouldn't hurt if you're doing it right, but that isn't true for everyone!

La Leche League are good for advice if there's one near you, or a LLL facebook group?

Congratulations!

9 weeks on from basically the same situation myself - induced starting at 38+0 after a second bout of reduced movements. Induction started at 11pm on the Monday and he was born on the Thursday evening! We saw our reason straight away, he had a true knot in the cord.

@Sushirolls he is called Robbie after his daddy :) he certainly suits it as he is his dad's absolute DOUBLE...he really doesn't even look like me at all lol!

@BarbieBrightSide oh tell me about it! It really is toe curling and baby has a habit of latching and then letting go so we have to start from scratch again!! Will deffo check out that group, need all the help I can get I think!

@TriJo another happy ending! It's a really scary time though isn't it? I just hated that I had no control over anything - just sitting in a room knowing that everything wasn't ok and just passing the hours between doctor's check ups! They never found a reason for the reduced movement of mine, I reckon he just wanted out...if he'd just asked I would have started on the spicy curries etc, he didn't need to cause such a drama!!
