Hey guys. I'm 33 and I've been married almost 8 years (with my husband 14). It's taken us over a year with irregular and long cycles but I got my BFP on 25th March. I had what I thought was a period early March so by the time I found out I was 8 weeks according to my LMP. I'm apparently due 4th Nov, but I think my scan on Saturday will push me back a couple of weeks due to long cycles, making me closer to 11 than 13.

I am apprehensive about my scan because I've spotted for a couple of minutes twice in the last two days but what will be will be! I called the midwife and she said if it continues go to the EPU but as I have no pain it's probably fine. I have been led to believe they're unlikely to scan me given I'm due a scan Saturday and it isn't continuous.

So, a nervous week ahead!

Hello

I am 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow with my first baby, due date 6th November.

We had the scan last week and they put as back a week, but was the most amazing moment ever!

Found out I was pregnant on my 21st Bday, best present ever.

Fox23 · 23/04/2018 17:47

@hammeringinmyhead congratulations!!! We have the same due date!! Well until our scans at least. Mine is on Wednesday. Wow, that’s so amazing! I had little spotting about 4 weeks ago, but nobody seemed concerned. They always say, unless it’s bright red blood and fillers sanitary towel, then it’s usually harmless. Besides, your scan is on Saturday- just relax and it will be here before you know it!
In October when I was 7 weeks, I started bleeleding abit, but over few days it sort of got more frequent and then pain from another world started. It’s was ectopic.
You don’t have any pain, so I really wouldn’t worry.
@Kknightxx congratulations to you! Same week as me and @hammeringinmyhead!!!! So exciting! and what a present!!! Until now I thought I had the best coincidental birthday present- my company car was dropped off on my Birthday, but wow, you win hands down 💐💐💐💐💐

So, I woke up this morning with sore throat. It hurts! Considering no meds can be taken, any ideas on what actually helps?

Fox23 · 23/04/2018 17:50

Oh, and I forgot to ask- does it show already?

G00ders1 · 23/04/2018 18:15

Hi @hammeringingmyhead congratulations! I agree with @Fox23 - though I know nothing about spotting 🤞 not long until Saturday!
Congratulations @Kknightxx what a fantastic birthday present!
@Fox23 🤔 honey and lemon? Maybe with some ginger? Basically, just lots and lots of fluids really. My mum swears by hot ribena with honey xx

hammeringinmyhead · 23/04/2018 18:38

Thanks both! @Fox23 I just had a raging cold and I took limited paracetamol so I could sleep, herbal tea with honey, and Lockets sweets.

No further bleeding today, so I'll wait and see. At least I have work all week to distract me!

hammeringinmyhead · 23/04/2018 18:39

Also, I'm not showing but I have a big bloaty bump by the time I go to bed most nights. Easily hidden under stretchy high waist jeans for now.

Fox23 · 23/04/2018 21:16

@hammeringinmyhead 😂 so funny. My CH came up behind me few days ago, put his hands on my belly from behind and said... ahhh, I think I can feel the baby belly.... I just had to tell him it’s my Big Mac meal he is feeling 😂
But yes, I feel bloated every day, that and windy . I suppose that’s the joys of pregnancy.

helbel42 · 23/04/2018 22:51

Congratulations @hammeringinmyhead and @Kknightxx

I'm only 4 +3 and I'm getting so bloated in the evenings it's ridiculous. I was wanting to take a weekly pic starting with a flat(ish) tummy but I don't seem to be able to find it under all that bloat!

Telling my parents tomorrow, for a 33 year old married woman I'm stupidly nervous! Did anyone else share this early or did you all wait? x

G00ders1 · 24/04/2018 04:13

I told mine when I was 5 weeks (only Saturday just gone) @helbel42 with the logic that I’d want my Mum to know whatever happens. She is now texting every day to check I’m ok 🙈
And, exactly like you, I’m a 33 year old woman, married for 6 years, together for 16, and I still felt ridiculously nervous! 😂😂

G00ders1 · 24/04/2018 04:14

Also, I’m awake because I feel sick. Does anyone else just wake up in the night feeling sick?

helbel42 · 24/04/2018 06:30

@G00ders1 glad it's not just me then! I was thinking the same, I want their support whatever happens so can't see a reason to wait really. I've known for a week now as found out early, dh knows so I just want to tell my parents and then I'm thinking of letting my boss know.

I've not really had any sickness (yet, I'm guessing) but I wake up at 6.15 every day now desperate for the loo, my alarm goes off at half past so it makes a change from waking up then and repeatedly hitting snooze till 7 and then rushing like a mad woman!

G00ders1 · 24/04/2018 06:43

@helbel42 I’m exactly the same...though somehow I still end up rushing!

I’m not telling my boss till I’ve heard a heartbeat - though I think they’ve already guessed to be fair, s whenever I’ve needed a doctor in the past I’ve always told them why, but obviously didn’t this time! 🙈

helbel42 · 24/04/2018 07:31

Haha @G00ders1, I'm actually sat writing this instead of getting ready so yeah, I guess I still end up rushing too!

That sounds sensible. There are less than 20 of us in my company so I feel like things are going to be pretty obvious, I'm HR and will be our first maternity so I'm gonna let my boss practice handling it with me! Also if anything goes wrong I'd like him to know what's happening x

hammeringinmyhead · 24/04/2018 07:33

I haven't told anyone except a couple of online friends who were also trying at the same time as me and also just had BFPs. Our families live a few hours away but my mum and dad are coming for the bank holiday and we're seeing husband's parents the weekend after so will spill the beans then. We didn't want to tell until after the scan.

I'm nervous too but mainly because we vocally said we didn't want kids so the shock will be real!

merdance · 24/04/2018 07:47

Hi, I am on here as I have just had a positive pregnancy test yesterday, the issue is I am 44 and will be 45 by the time the baby comes, I already have three children youngest being 2. I have also had three difficult births, so I am worried about that and if at 45 I can cope with the delivery. I am also worried about genetic issues that come with older mum's, my three children are fine by the way nothing genetically wrong as far as I know. I guess I am a bit shocked and really frightened, dad and I live apart as our relationship fell apart two years ago when my little boy was a baby, so I live alone. Please no sarcasm, I am really worried. My family will go mad at me if I have another baby, but I don't think I can go down the other route either, and adoption will not be an option as I would never give up my children. please help x

Emma198 · 24/04/2018 08:50

Your family might go mad at first. But I'm sure they'd love your new baby once it all sinks in. Sounds like despite your worries you know really what you want to do. Good luck x

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/04/2018 09:19

@merdance congratulations. Does the dad know? What was his reaction?

merdance · 24/04/2018 10:06

No he doesn't know I haven't told anyone yet.. see I have also had 4 miscarriages between children so I don't even know if this one will carry, so not only anxious about being pregnant also about having another miscarriage.. generally anxious lol x

Emma198 · 24/04/2018 14:06

Understandable. Hope everything works out well.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/04/2018 16:04

@merdance I guess it's a difficult situation as it's unplanned but sounds like you're not totally out of touch with pregnancy and babies what with having a toddler.

Could you speak to the father? Or is there anyone else you can talk to? This isn't something you should be going through alone Flowers

G00ders1 · 24/04/2018 18:27

@helbel42 that’s exaclty my problem - distracted by my phone so end up running late! 😂😂
I work in a school, so children throwing themselves at me is starting to freak me out slightly, as well as the child who had a rash yesterday! 🙈 though my school is quite big, I think they’ll cotton on pretty soon...BUT one of the other teachers is 19 weeks pregnant, so hopefully everyone’s focusing on her 👍
I think the most important thing to think about when telling people early is whether you would go to the for support whatever happens, and if you’d go to your boss then 👍 xx

G00ders1 · 24/04/2018 18:29

Also, does anyone happen to know what they actually do at the first meeting with your midwife? I assume it’s blood tests? Do they listen for a heartbeat? xx

Aggiemacc · 24/04/2018 18:33

Just thought I'll share a good news, had a 12 week scan today, the baby is healthy and strong and everything is looking much more positive. Due date 5th November.
Still sick, cannot sleep and need wee every 2 hours but I know now it's worth it. Cannot wait to meet my little baby blob xx

G00ders1 · 24/04/2018 18:41

@Aggiemacc ❤️ Fantastic! ❤️
