@AnotherOriginalUsername I am trying to kind of follow slimming world but my midwife friend told me I should be eating full fat yogurts! Meh.

Tbh I'm so bloated at the minute I just look like I've gained 7 stone in as many weeks 😤

Emma198 · 06/04/2018 17:04

Hi girls. I've been at EPAU this morning after I bled this morning. Had a scan and could see the sac but was measuring at 5.5 weeks tops when I thought 6. They said this was normal and not to worry and everything looked normal for a 5-5.5 week pregnancy. I'm going back next week for another scan. So scared and nervous. X

Deedoll · 06/04/2018 18:14

@AnotherOriginalUsername snap, started SW in the New Year with all the wishful thinking that I'll lose weight this year and start trying next year, seems like God had other plans! Have you told your leader yet about your pregnancy? I haven't yet but will do and I'm hoping instead of going weekly that I can go once a month just to keep
an eye on my weight.

HungryN · 06/04/2018 18:52

Nausea has hit in full force today just after lunch. My colleagues kept asking if I was ok as I looked sad... I’m not sure how I’ll be able to keep this up! I walked into a shop after nearly vomiting and grabbed a gingerbread Nakd bar which helped as I scoffed it down. Gaaaahhhhh.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/04/2018 19:06

ellsharks I am a bad slimming worlder as I'm counting calories alongside as I have done for years so I'm still eating full fat yoghurts, avocado and peanut butter...!

Deedoll I told my consultant last week as knew there is paperwork to be completed by the midwife in order to continue so I collected that ready for my first appointment

EL332 · 06/04/2018 19:41

So many of you with the same plan as me!

I'm 5ft 4 and am 14.5stone...

I'd planned to lose at least three stone whilst trying for a baby, convinced that being overweight would mean it would take a long time for me... but I fell pregnant with two weeks of deciding to start trying and so haven't managed to lose those three stone...

I've posted on a couple of plus size pregnancy posts as I was feeling anxious about being a high risk pregnancy as I have a BMI over 30 so am considered obese...

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/04/2018 20:50

My BMI is currently around 38, so higher than I'd like it to be! I'm already high risk on that basis, and high risk because of my heart failure. That said, I'm fit and active and hope to continue that as long as possible, just need to get some guidance from my cardiologist about what I can safely do in pregnancy

Citygirl85 · 06/04/2018 22:32

Another Slimming World-er here ... I was 4lb off getting my BMI under 30 ... also thinking there no chance we'll get pregnant the first month TTC, in our 30's when I only have one tube and I then ovulated from the "wrong" side so I'd have time to further reduce my BMI. Wrong!! Here I am wishing I'd been a bit less naughty in the past... as I eat much toast to deal with the nausea and I bloat and the lb probably go back on ...

Shrimpi · 06/04/2018 22:57

Hi everyone I'm a new joiner!

I'm 26 and have been married for around 18 months. Around 8 weeks and due in mid-November. We were TTC for about 3 months but actually conceived the first time I wasn't away or working nights during my ovulation!!

I had my first appointment with the midwife who was so funny and lovely (and good with a needle!) and I'm waiting for a scan appointment.

I am a children and babies doctor and I work in the hospital where I'm booking. Which means sneaking to my appointments trying not to get spotted by colleagues who don't know yet. Deliveries and newborns feel very familiar to me but it will be very different to go through it myself. I think some of my work stories have made my husband who isn't a doctor slightly anxious and he asks me lots of questions about medical problems in babies all the time, which is sweet I suppose.

At the moment I'm very tired, refluxy and nauseous and chuck up about once or twice a day. It's quite difficult working and not being able to whinge about feeling so gross. I don't want to take any time off as we are always short.

I'd really like to start healthy exercise and to eat well during the pregnancy but I just don't feel able to at the moment! I'm mainly living off pure carbs and eat continuously. Even though I am "barely" pregnant I've been unbuttoning my trousers and sometimes unhooking my bra to cope with my giant gassy abdomen!

Shrimpi · 06/04/2018 22:59

The smell of cat food sets me off the worst. I've been peeling a satsuma and pressing it up against my nose whenever a smell makes me nauseous and it really, really works. I might try bubblegum flavour toothpaste too, as I've totally gone off mint.

jld1202 · 06/04/2018 23:24

Evening ladies Smile New odd symptom for me today - red, flushed cheeks - sort of looks like sunburn! Had a google (course I did....) and apparently it's linked to hormonal changes but anyone else had/having this? Xx

Shrimpi · 06/04/2018 23:38

@AnotherOriginalUsername

You have been through such a lot my goodness! Well done for overcoming your depressive episode. Hopefully this pregnancy will bring you better fortunes!

Aridia · 07/04/2018 07:08

Morning ladies! Congratulations to all the newbies :)

@AnotherOriginalUsername gosh you've had a really difficult time of it. I can completely understand how a diagnosis like that could trigger depression, and it makes perfect sense that when we're depressed we try to help ourselves feel better by doing the things that comfort us, like eating. It really sucks that it resulted in you putting on weight, but try not to be too hard on yourself. Remember how well you've done! And how your hard work paid off! And now you have a little bean on board :)

I know what it's like to be high risk, and not sure how excited to get, because I am too. But we can only cross bridges when we come to them, and right here and now, we're pregnant, and that's amazing!

@jld1202 I'm so glad you've said this! I've been cold most if the time, which is normal for me, but I've had the occasional hot flush where my face has been like a neon beacon! Glad to know I'm not the only one lol

Liz3891 · 07/04/2018 08:57

Does anyone else have (or had in previous pregnancies) no nausea? I know some women don't get it, but other than sore boobs I have no symptoms at all really. No food aversions, no excessive smell as far as I can tell. I have gone totally off wine. I wasn't going to drink it anyway but I used to LOVE wine and now the thought of it is ick. Earlier on in my pregnancy I found it hard to resist and I was jealous of people drinking - now I have literally no desire whatsoever. I'm 8+4 according to LMP.

applesauce1 · 07/04/2018 10:44

Morning everyone!

I got a faint positive two days ago on an IC, a stronger positive on a FRER yesterday and confirmed with a digital this morning. I have quite long cycles - average 37 days.
My last period was 2nd March, so I think I'm between 4 and 5 weeks? Is that right?

What do the dates mean when people say, eg. 2+4 weeks?

I've been waking up ridiculously for the last few days and been wide awake, but I put that down to my brain being excited to test with FMU?
Also feel like a can't swallow properly, but not feeling sick.

Aridia · 07/04/2018 11:01

Congratulations @applesauce1!
That's great news :)

4+2 would mean 4 weeks and 2 days.
You calculate your weeks at the moment from the first day of your last period, so you're the same as me :) 5+1 today!
These dates might change when you go for your scan though. If you have long cycles you might find you're not quite as far along because it will depend on when sperm actually met egg!

There's quite a few of us here now, it's so exciting :)

firstgo1984 · 07/04/2018 13:22

5+6 now and starting to feel the nausea, which gets bizarrely better if I eat. I had bad heartburn in my first pregnancy, particularly in the evenings, but no nausea at all, so this is all a bit new to me and was hoping avoid it!
Shrimpi - I am a doctor too, but in the obs and gynae side of things.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 07/04/2018 14:30

I've survived another week without having to tell work. No x-rays going on this week and managed to make my excuses to disappear when the anaesthetic gases were used. It's only a matter of time until they work it out!!

snowbake · 07/04/2018 16:23

Hello, late joiner here. I'm 35, currently just over 7 weeks pregnant. My other child is almost 18 so this time around it'll all be a massively different experience Easter Grin

Not got any significant nausea or major food aversions. But I am as bloated as a whale and have a constant horrible taste in my mouth that makes me want to eat all day.
Sense of smell is amazing (but annoying haha) and boobs are sore but not too bad.

I suffered with HG in both previous pregnancies (1 miscarriage) but seems this pregnancy is very different. Had HG right on 4 weeks pregnant both times before so I'm starting to get excited at the thought of not enduring that hell for a third time.
Hope I haven't jinxed myself! X

ND348 · 07/04/2018 20:20

Wow tiredness has really hit me today! Also definitely getting quite cranky, OH was complaining I've not said a nice thing to him all day.... anyone else feeling a bit moody?

ReiofHope · 07/04/2018 20:45

I was spotting last Friday (good Friday) and went to A and E. they saw me really quickly and blood and urine tests came back as still indicating pregnancy but my scan at the EPAU is for this Monday coming. It's been a 9 day wait and it's been awful.
I still have super smell sentitivity and I have spells of nausea but no vomiting. I'm very emotional and my boobs hurt more than they've ever hurt in my life! I leant forward earlier today while sitting and just the touch of my nipple on my own leg hurt so much I couldn't believe it.
I've also been exhausted for over a week which I find slightly worrying, if I'm this tired now how bad will it get when baby is bigger than a blueberry!?

Angekins · 07/04/2018 22:44

Hi everyone. I think I posted on this group at the start I can't remember... ! Anyway, first pregnancy with EDD 18th Nov. I had a private scan today - my dates (that my GP also confirmed) made me 7+6 today. The scan was internal and external. Measures too small at 3mm and heartbeat was there but slow and sluggish. The sonographer said it looks 6 weeks. Like many posts I've read I've been certain with my dates. I feel pretty dreadful now. My symptoms have near enough gone. I have my midwife app booked on the 18th to do the bloods as haven't yet had that app, but will try and go to a walk in early pregnancy unit tests check my HCG levels. I can't bear the wait, knowing it's probably going to end.

Blizzardagain · 08/04/2018 01:29

Hi everyone! Smile

I had my BFP almost a week ago now and I'm 5+6 so still early days. My last PG ended in miscarriage too so I was trying to stay cool for a few more weeks but my mind is in overdrive! I was also hoping to have lost weight before another PG as I am 5"3 & 14st8 which is the largest I've ever been but I've already started eating better and lost 2lbs.

Emma198 · 08/04/2018 07:50

@Angekins I'm sorry to hear that. I'm similar in that I had an early scan on the day I dated myself six weeks. Abdominal scan only. They saw the gestational sac and yolk sac and said everything looked good for someone who was five weeks or slightly over, so up to a week later than my dates. Couldn't see a heartbeat but would be expected at this stage and they didn't seem concerned in the slightest. I got my positive so early I just can't see how that can be.

They didn't seem worried though and said discrepancies at this stage are really common and booked me in for a week later (this coming Friday) to check again.

I've been frantically reading stories of people in similar situations and a good proportion of them are positive to trying not to be too down. Hope everything turns out well for you xxx

HayleyHaystack · 08/04/2018 08:01

@emma198 Thank you for your story. I'm totally up bleak street right now, desperately trying to see the positive! Really helpful to learn of your situ. I hope everything continues well for you too xx
