@bez9087 how the twins doing? Just finished morning feed. Feel like we don't have to tell any of our neighbours (we live in flat) about her arrival as they've probably heard her "I decided I want a bottle 30 seconds ago which means I should have had it 29 seconds ago" screams by now. I keep having to roll my partner onto his side in his sleep as I worry his snoring is waking her up.

Stretch marks are very intensive but I'm actually kinda proud of them in a weird way - do you ever remember getting a scar when you were a kid and being desperate to show it off to your friends? That's what I'm like, they're my tiger stripes. It's a very weird thing where I want to show them off like "look what I/my body did". Have some bio oil handy for when the pride wears off. Now my facial structure has come back I feel a lot better body image wise (been avoiding mirrors all pregnancy). So refreshing to have a visible jaw bone again.

Strongarms27 · 04/04/2018 05:53

Thank you Bez9087. I'm just having breakfast as I'm scheduled this afternoon. Nothing to eat from 6am and nil by mouth from 10am. I haven't been with it food for so long my entire pregnancy. I hope I don't get too hangry!! I think I'll be more excited though, I can't believe I get to be a mummy today!

This thread has been so helpful in the last few weeks. It's so reassuring reading everyone's stories.

It's good to hear I might see some semblance of my bone structure soon rockabyebaby1402. I have loved having my bump but didn't expect to miss my jawline so much!!

Rae2017 · 04/04/2018 06:36

Good luck today @strongarms. So exciting you get to meet your baby!!! Will be thinking of you. Can't believe this will be me in a weeks time!

Bez9087 · 04/04/2018 07:28

@strongarms you lucky thing they made me nil by mouth from midnight before and we didn’t go down till 11am. Was starving but then felt sick after so couldn’t eat. Enjoy every second of it baby will be here before you know it.
@rockabye haha our Isobelle is like that... “hang on I wanted feeding and now!” She’s very vocal. Imogen on the other hand makes me more warey as she literally sleeps all the time. I know I should be greatful but when you have one wide awake and the other always asleep you can’t help but compare thinking why does she sleep so much! Other than that they are doing okay. Starting to stir now for their morning feed. I’m up already getting dd up for school which she isn’t happy about. Ds back at nursery this afternoon and we are registering the girls this afternoon too so they will be officially British citizens and not known as twin 1 or twin 2 haha! To be fair the drs and professionals may keep that to their whole life. Bless Imogen being twin 2 by a minute though.
How’s everyone else getting on?

emvy · 04/04/2018 09:21

Bez, it sounds like your twins are doing brilliantly, as are you! Don’t worry about the sleep thing - I remember a friend of mine saying her dd slept constantly and she would have to wake her to feed her. She’s a bright, healthy 4 year old now with heaps of sass and attitude 😂 clearly just banking some energy for when she could run around!

Good luck strongarms!! Hope the hunger isn’t too horrid - you get to meet your baby today!

I’m with everyone else on the bone structure thing. So weird isn’t it that faces change - I can’t wait to look like me again!

rockabyebaby, oh no your phone! Could do without that being damaged right now, I bet. What a pain! I’m sure your OH managing to get little one down quickly was simply just a change of face and would’ve been the same had it been the other way around. It sounds like you have a good system going with sharing everything.

Yustynne, I’m due in 9 days and also starting to get a bit anxious about what happens after 40 weeks. My midwife was so chilled when I asked her and mumbled something about a sweep and induction but said not to think about those things yet. I have my next appointment at 39+6 so I’m really aware that anything booked after that is pushing it due date wise. I know it’s just a vague date but i’d really like to not go much over 41 weeks as I’m worried about risk.

Thanks for sharing that link Loosemoose, I’ll take a look. I’ve been having the same symptoms for days but still waiting. My nipples have also suddenly got insanely itchy the past 2 days, not sure what that’s about! Still no real signs of labour though, just a few niggles and period type pains, usually only in the evenings after a day of me doing everything under the sun to get things moving 😩😂

ToriRay · 04/04/2018 09:27

@Yustynne morning! gap is 7 years. First pregnancy was a total breeze. Lovely labour as well. She was a totally contented baby. This time? I feel like I've been hit by pregnancy truck. Nausea for 19 weeks, then the worst burping I've ever experienced in my life, and shocking heartburn! Really struggled this time! (No enough to be begging for a sweep though - the thought of that really worries me!) Smile

Bez9087 · 04/04/2018 09:59

@emvy yeah my ds was the same we had to wake him but I think it’s because I have one so awake it’s hard not to compare 🙈

AnnaMadden · 04/04/2018 12:20

@strongarms good luck for today...how exciting. You're finally going to meet your little bundle of joy! 💖

amysaurus87 · 04/04/2018 12:21

Morning all! Good luck today @strongarms hope your having newborn snuggles very soon!

Slightly random question...what snacks did you ladies have while you were in labour? It's highly likely that I will be on the labour ward even in early labour as they will want me in hospital when my waters break due to the polyhydramnios. I've got:

Jelly Babies
Jaffa Cakes
Fruit Pastimes
Cereal Bars
Cheese Crackers
Lucozade Sport

Do you think I need anything else?

SBDB · 04/04/2018 12:49

Hey everyone!
It's been so great seeing everyone's babies arrive. I'm not due until the 24th which feels like a lifetime away! I'd be more than happy for him to make an appearance now although the builders are still ripping walls out of my house! He seems pretty content in there too so I'm worried he will tip over into the beginning of May to arrive. I'll be sad about that as I really want to meet him this month!
Hope everyone is OK

ToriRay · 04/04/2018 12:50

@amysaurus87 just been to Morrisons and brought exactly the same! Also got some rich tea biscuits in case of feeling sick!

rosegarden45 · 04/04/2018 13:13

@amysaurus87 I've packed cereal bars and Lucozade. I'm thinking I might want some apples/bananas too if the hospital is hot fruit might be refreshing. I've also got chocolate biscuits and little packets of nuts. Not really sure what I'll want to eat on the day tho. We'll have to wait and see how it feels. I might take bottled water in case the hospital water is grim

Rae2017 · 04/04/2018 13:21

Did anyone pack snacks if they had a section? I know that you can't eat anything day of op before hand but was wondering about after? Not sure if I'm going to be hungry or not feeling food at all

Bez9087 · 04/04/2018 14:20

@rae I did. I had a section and packed snacks and so glad I did. As I didn’t fancy eating, tried some tea and was feeling very sick (I had a lot of medication though) and then in the middle of the night the hunger started so was glad for the snacks in my bag. Same for the day after I was glad for stuff to snack on in between the meals. On the Sunday I got my dad to bring me a kfc up which I ate between lunch and tea Blush portions aren’t overly huge and I felt like I was starving after. Probably as my stomach had more room after being squished for 9 months.

Yustynne · 04/04/2018 15:32

Hi, I've seen my midwife today, all looks fine and I'll have to visit her again 5 days later when I'm 41w so she could book me in for induction. If I want I can have a sweep next time but I'm not sure about it as my midwife said there was a big chance it may not work for a first-timer. A sweep and induction sound so scary, don't want even to think about them! Anybody had an experience with a sweep? Did it work?
@ToriRay, I'm happy your first pregnancy went so well. I fully understand how you feel about heartburn. For me it's the same now, anything I eat gives me a horrible heartburn so I'm just going through my heartburn medicines. If I don't take any, at night I can wake up choking from heartburn. On the other hand, I still believe that I'm lucky enough to have quite an easy pregnancy in comparison to somebody who is throwing up 9 months. It can always be worse so I can't complain. By the way, do you know if you are expecting a boy or a girl? Or left it a surprise?
@emvy, is that your first pregnancy? I agree it is worrying to go past due date as nobody knows what will happen next. I'm just going through it and trying to take a step at a time but can't deny getting anxious. Really want my baby to come out soon!

Yustynne · 04/04/2018 15:39

Good luck Strongarms27 today!

MadRainbow · 04/04/2018 17:21

So 5am I woke up, contractions started not long after and this little lady was born at 8:50am. Sadly she didn't breathe on her own for about 12 minutes immediately after birth and has had seizures... She is being moved to Addenbrookes for further investigation Sad I also didn't fair well with clots that didn't want to pass from my uterus. I had to have oxytocin to help shift everything and a very painful what must've been a few mins but felt like hours. I still haven't seen my little girl since they took her this morning and have dealt with this by expressing her feeds.

emvy · 04/04/2018 17:59

Congratulations MadRainbow, what a gorgeous little girl. Your poor little mite, that sounds incredibly worrying for you, and with the clots you’ve suffered from as well, it sounds like you’ve had a really rough time of it. I really hope the seizures stop and they give her the all clear. It sounds like you’re doing incredibly with expressing. It must be so so difficult not being able to be with your little one, you poor thing. Have they said when you’re likely to be able to be with her? Really hoping it’s not too much longer.

Yustynne, yes this is my first baby. You’re right, I should really try and relax and let nature do it’s thing. He does still have plenty of time until 41 weeks to make his appearance I guess! I’m so impatient I think that’s the main problem 🙈

ToriRay · 04/04/2018 18:04

@MadRainbow she's beautiful. Sending lots of positive thoughts and vibes! Hope things are sorted soon and you can get home!

@Yustynne we've left it a surprise! What about you? Ive done some major major nesting today, which was a sign my first was imminent. Maybe I'm getting ready, or maybe a massive wishful thinking coincidence! Going for a walk tomorrow to try and shuffle things down!

AnnaMadden · 04/04/2018 18:19

@MadRainbow congratulations she is absolutely adorable. Sending hugs and positive vibes that all is well and you get to snuggle with your precious bundle very soon! You're doing amazing with expressing though so keep up the good work x

HarryHarry · 04/04/2018 18:20

Congratulations @MadRainbow ! Thinking of you and your little one. Hope everything will be OK for both of you.

Good luck today @Strongarms27 !

Sorry to hear that some of you have had unexpected complications. I’m afraid I have no advice as I am a first-timer and I don’t know anything!

As for me, I am now 5 days away from my due date and feeling unbelievably tired. For a couple of weeks now I have been having terrible pains at night - at the top of my bump, in my lower back, in my pelvis - and wondering whether it might be labour but I think that’s probably just wishful thinking. My doctor has suggested doing a sweep tomorrow - if my cervix is short/thin/soft enough, which I suspect it won’t be - but I might say no as I’ve heard they are very painful and usually don’t work.

In other news, it has started snowing again (just when I thought winter was finally over). They are expecting 25cm today. I dread having to go to the hospital in this weather, especially as I can’t fit into my winter coat or boots anymore. This time last year it was 21 degrees already!

Bez9087 · 04/04/2018 18:26

@madrainbow congratulations she is beautiful. I hope that your all reunited soon. That’s amazing you are expressing for her keep going mamma your doing fab 💪🏻 I hope your bleeding has calmed down now and your recovering as well as you can.

amysaurus87 · 04/04/2018 19:15

@madrainbow congratulations she is adorable, sending positive vibes to you both, hopefully you'll get to have newborn snuggles soon.

MadRainbow · 04/04/2018 23:46

Hi everyone, haemorrhaging has all been dealt with. Finally been discharged and me and DH are making our way up to Addenbrookes to be with our princess. Gonna be a long next couple of days to try to find out why she had the initial seizure - the good news is that was her first and only one and everyone is hoping it was just a blip. She'll be monitored for the next few days up there and we just hope things stay stable and we can bring her home soon

MadRainbow · 04/04/2018 23:47

Thanks for all the well wishes, I hope everyone else has a better time of it than we did
