@strongarms27- nothing exciting. I think I have a back to back baby trying to turn. Been getting cramps and tightenings all day but not getting any where. Experience tells me don’t get excited I could still be pregnant in a fortnight Grin - no show or anything. Had a nap on the sofa which was bliss.

Bez9087 · 02/04/2018 09:12

@loosemoose I feel for you my dd was back to back. Slow labour stopping and starting she was my first but still can’t three days early. You never know. Hope bubs turns for you and your on your way Flowers

AnnaMadden · 02/04/2018 10:50

@Bez9087 I was told 24-48 hrs after cord comes off. Although I was more concerned about Áine gaining weight and keeping warm so she only had her first bath last night at 16 days old

Bez9087 · 02/04/2018 11:42

Thanks @anna. Isobelles fell off last night and I gave it a little clean this morn with cooled boiled water as had bled a bit but read that’s Normal. Imogen’s is still very much intact and close to her skin no signs of it moving yet. We are day 10. I’m the same I’m so worried about them getting cold. I’m currently sat having skin to skin with Isobelle as she was unsettled after her last feed. She’s been there a good hour and half now and still snoozing. Not that I mind the sleepy baby snuggles although at the start she did make me laugh as I put her there and grabbing a blanket she had nose dived for my breast trying to feed little tinker. Surprised me as she wasn’t fed as often off me as Imogen was.
How you getting on Anna? How’s your beautiful girl?

Morning all, hope pregnancies and babies are all doing well.

Just wandering if anyone has used any alternative therapies whilst pregnant/To induce labour?
I've been really struggling with sleeping and bad back so I'm having reflexology today to see if this helps. At 38+ weeks in wondering if it may also help bring on labour. We have a consultant appointment next Monday where I'm sure he'll suggest induction so I'm up for trying whatever i can this week to get things moving before then 😊

amysaurus87 · 03/04/2018 13:14

Hi all! 38+2 today, just had a growth scan and baby is back on track growth wise, although they couldn't do the head measurement as baby was looking face down.

My new problem is I've been diagnosed with polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid) so I'm having to have a GTT on Thursday as this could be the cause, either that or a virus Confused

Fieau · 03/04/2018 16:10

@amysaurus87 I had a scan on Thursday and was told I have polyhydramnios as well. I got sent straight for another 2 hour GD test (passed the one at around 20 weeks).havent got the results yet but my next appointment was made for two weeks time, which makes me think even if I have it they aren't planning on doing anything about it Hmm

AnnaMadden · 03/04/2018 17:06

@Bez9087 we're doing just great thank you. I'm on antibiotics as I have a slight infection in my stitches but caught it early so will hopefully go soon.

We were finally discharged from the midwife care today on day 18...Áine had lost 9.6% of her body weight by day 5 and then was only gaining 15g a day...they like 30g apparently, but she was feeding well and lots of wet/dirty nappies so she obviously just needed longer to catch up and get stronger. So today she weighs 6lb 15oz...6oz over her birth weight! Over the moon is an understatement! She's so good though...very relaxed and chilled out. Long may it continue! X

Yustynne · 03/04/2018 17:43

Hi, anyone overdue? I'm 40+1 today and I'm getting worried. Have you had any discussions with your midwives what's next?

WonderfullySunny · 03/04/2018 18:28

@Loosemoose28 how are you doing? I hope last night was a bit better?

@AnnaMadden and @Bez9087 so glad to hear the little ones are doing well. Are the HV visiting you both at home? @Bez9087 I remember you mentioning that was the plan.

@Yustynne did they ever speak about their district policy? It varies between them all as normal but typically 41+3 to 42 they will look to induce but best ask your MW. How are you feeling?

@Fieau and @amysaurus87 hope all goes well with the respective tests! Never fun to find these things but hopefully nothing to worry about.

I realise in the grand scheme of things this is ridiculous/vain/self adsorbed but has anyone else gotten a bit down about stretch marks? They've started and can foresee them spreading Sad

WonderfullySunny · 03/04/2018 18:29

Sorry for the bold fail...worked out never leave the reply page it screws with the post!

Yustynne · 03/04/2018 18:51

@WonderfullySunny, I'll see my midwife tomorrow, we'll see what she is going to say. This is my first baby and induction sounds scary, I'm still hoping to go in labour naturally. In general I'm feeling fine and there are no signs that the baby is coming anytime soon. I've no pains, no shows, no waters breaking.

Bez9087 · 03/04/2018 18:52

@wonderfullysunny the Hv called me today and sounded very cross and short. she’s arranged to come out Thursday to finally introduce herself and sort out plan for the girls. My stretch marks are getting me down too I have some firming cream I got from body shop I’m going to use but waiting for my scar to heal first as don’t trust myself to not get it on my scar. Mine are up near my tummy button too. I just keep reminding myself they show we are amazing at growing a human Smile
@anna that’s amazing news about her weight. We are stuck in the same cycle. Weighed today at day 11 and they are 5lb 1oz and 5lb 2oz. Not back at birth weight yet but have put on since day 5 when they was 4lb 14oz. She was happy with Imogen’s 100g weight gain but not as happy as Isobelles 60g but has said she’s going to come and re weigh them next week. Still battling the jaundice too I thought we was getting on top of it but she said isobelle still looks quite yellow and Imogen but only from chest down but all moving in the right direction.
@rosegarden I found with dd that doing the deed helped well I say that I was so utterly fed up in the Thursday night I had been to mw who had said I wouldn’t have long probably (had been in slow labour a while on and off) so dh took me out we went for tea I had a medium rare steak, then went bowling (naughtty I know!) then came home and did the deed. Something worked as she was born the next day lol! But then my ds I was trying for a good week leading up to my induction to try get him out and the stubborn bugger wouldn’t budge. I think it is just when they are ready Confused hang in there it won’t be much longer.
Keep going ladies you are all doing amazing. These last few weeks are the hardest but I promise they are so so worth it. I’m already missing being pregnant and we are 11 days in. Your gorgeous babies will be here soon.

ToriRay · 03/04/2018 19:12

@Yustynne I'm due on the 10th and really concerned about going overdue too! When's your next MW appt?

ToriRay · 03/04/2018 19:14

Ah just seen you're at MW tomorrow yusty. I went into labour with my first at 41+5 naturally so fingers crossed for you!

Yustynne · 03/04/2018 20:10

@ToriRay, I'm also crossing my fingers! Are you expecting your baby #2? It's so exciting Smile

ToriRay · 03/04/2018 20:25

@yustynne yep! Number #2 but a big gap so feels like my first. Just ate my body weight in pineapple to try and help things along! Have you had a good pregnancy so far? 😊

rockabyebaby1402 · 03/04/2018 22:06

@bez9087 that's hilarious about not being able to tell which twin is which - I used to babysit two twin baby boys (non identical) and even after several months I still got them mixed up all the time and I wondered how their mum didn't get mad at me when I said the wrong name: guess she must have struggled herself as well for the first few months and that was having the boys full time! @strongarms27 good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes well!

I've bathed baby twice since she was born (never alone though And always with either a hospital or my mum the midwife). Bathed first time as she was covered in the white stuff from birth and then on day 5 as she had a little bit of thrush downstairs. I feel confident to do a third one as she seems to love it but partners concerned about her getting a cold. Umbilical cord fell off yesterday (day 6). So weird to think she's already a week old. Had my first casualty of war early Saturday morning during a 2am feed - I'd made up a bottle of milk half asleep And passed it to my partner who said he didn't think the lid was on right, I grabbed it half asleep by the lid at which point it fell off and spilled milk all over my lap, duvet covers and my year old iPhone. A 2 day rice bath later and the phones definitely a goner. Blush Heather's feeds are up to 3oz which I'm so proud of. My partner and I are operating a tap out scheme where if one of us finds we're really struggling we can tap out and get the other to take over - used it for the first time properly this morning after struggling for what felt like hours but was probably only about twenty minutes to get her to go to sleep - within 2 minutes of him taking over she was asleep. Bloody daddy's girl. He insists that I did most of the groundwork but I still felt So p'd off. Had my first bath since today as stitches look fine - felt amazing. Still crying on and off with hormones. Nothing like standing in the shower nipples streaming and eyes streaming. Super attractive. Anybody doing birth announcement cards? Not sure if they're still the done thing anymore. Have lots of thank you cards for gifts to send out. Good luck to those still waiting, babies will be here before you know it.

Yustynne · 03/04/2018 22:27

@ToriRay, what's the gap? I can't complain about my pregnancy as I wasn't sick Smile I'm just having indigestion and heartburn all along my pregnancy. What about you? If you compare your both pregnancies?

Strongarms27 · 03/04/2018 22:48

Thanks rockabyebaby1402. I went for my pre-op today and feel quite relaxed about everything. I expect I won't sleep much tonight though!

I noticed my first stretch marks the other day - right where my c-section scar will be! I have already got some bio oil, but as Bez9087 said there are reminders of what our amazing bodies have done.

Loosemoose28 · 03/04/2018 22:56

@rosegarden I am using aromatherapy just had a clary sage bath.

Hand expressing x 3 times a day
Using evening primrose oil
Reflexology is good but is recommended to start about 34 weeks
Im getting accupuncture and rebozo this week to try and turn this baby I am not worried about going “overdue” but am just not comfortable with this baby in this position.

These may all help the cervix get ready but not always start labour- our babies are the ones who dictate that.

Just remember you don’t HAVE to have an induction just on doctors advice. There is accessable information out there that can help form informed decisions. Relevent facebook groups actually can be very helpful.

Loosemoose28 · 03/04/2018 23:00

@wonderfullysunny you are very good at addressing us all individually. I am rubbish at acknowledging everyone.

Slept ok last night when my hips settled. OH has lovingly recorded me snoring which has started this week (its on par to his drunk snoring so pretty badGrin )

Still spend the day with tightenings and cramps. But nothing comes of it I am sure they are helping something in there.
