@wonderfullysunny I had group b strep with the girls although there was less risk as I gave birth via section they still checked the girls obs I think it was every 2 hours did their temp, breathing etc to monitor for signs of it in them and to me that was more reassuring someone constantly checking my newborn. It’s good they know before labour too.

WonderfullySunny · 30/03/2018 09:26

Thanks @Bez9087 and @DaisyLand that is reassuring. They didn't say it was only 30mins that's not too bad! I'm really hoping my waters don't break so can stay at home as long as possible, they said they need 4 clear hours before Little one is born.

DaisyLand · 30/03/2018 09:57

Yeah that’s what they told me that whilst some people would be asked to stay at home when they start dilatating we’ll be asked to go ASAP to the hospital. I don’t mind this tbh I fear so much rush hour and giving birth in the car that I’m happy to do exercises in the hospital.
Was also told that if we don’t make the 4h then they’ll give the medicines directly to the baby.

Ah so they've told you to head in ASAP even if your waters haven't broken? Think I may be quizzing them more when I see the doctors next week!

Teeeee · 30/03/2018 13:51

Thanks @WonderfullySunny

I think he's floated back up now though cause my ribs have taken a good kicking!! (But then I have a tiny torso so poor monkey doesn't have the largest of houses to wiggle in)

@Ninjamilo and @WonderfullySunny
I just thought- Looks like we're the last due dates!! Maybe one of us will be the last one standing Confused eek!!

Xx

Teeeee · 30/03/2018 13:52

(Sorry for the bold writing, not sure how that happened)

Ninjamilo · 30/03/2018 17:14

Looks like we may be!

My little one definitely seems comfy where she is....which is fine with me for now! I have a growth scan and consultant appointment on Tuesday, and assuming all ok I'll then order my birth pool and start getting living room ready, exciting times! ❤️

WonderfullySunny · 30/03/2018 20:31

That's made me chuckle...place your bets now ladies Grin

dkb15164 · 31/03/2018 03:01

@TexanInBristol Sorry to hear that, at least they caught it early so that's a really good sign. @WonderfullySunny I had to go on the syntax induction drip plus fluids for my labour and honestly it wasn't that bad. A bath etc would have been nice during labour and they did offer before they put me on but I was able to go on the ball for a good half hour before my contractions became too strong for me to concentrate on keeping my balance/making sure I didn't knock the baby monitors off. Ask if you can get cannula in elbow joint instead of back of hand as makes it so much easier for holding baby and feeding after they arrive.
Home today (or now yesterday I guess). So glad to be out of there but also scary without midwives (have called mum 3 times since leaving hospital and googled 4 YouTube videos). She has gained 50g (1.7oz) on her birth weight already (it never dropped) so they were very content with her. Managed to get a 6 hour nap and celebratory half glass of merlot before I watched partner do another feed and realised she's really struggling with the newborn bottle teats we had. Should have realised, she was on the preemie teats in the hospital so sending partner to John Lewis or mothercare at 8am to pick up some fast flow teats. Also thinking to maybe pick up a formula prep machine as waking up half an hour before every feed is due now I'm home and on the powder is getting very tiring very fast. Tommy tippee has lots of good deals on their perfect prep at the moment but my mum's friend uses a supposedly safer brand so going to try get name off her in the AM. Also the tiny baby clothes are still way too big! They completely hang off her, swaddling to keep her warm.

Fieau · 01/04/2018 09:57

As I don't think they will let me go over due (and I'm due on the 21st) my baby will be here this month! Argh! Exciting doesnt cover it!! Grin

rockabyebaby1402 · 01/04/2018 10:19

Happy April 1st! Guessing those mummies still waiting can feel the anticipation in the air. Hope everybody is doing well and and the full flow of babies being born will begin anyday now. @strongarms27 Not long to go now for you, got your bags packed? How are the babies doing that are already here? Hope the twins are behaving for you @bez9087 . My hormones are still a bit haywire - I cried in the shower for a good hour last night after Heather's bedtime feed because I kept thinking about how perfect she is and how good she is at feeding (probably around average tbh but through pfb eyes). Very irrational but had a good laugh looking back at it this morning.
Also just to say for any of you mum's who are planning on bottlefeeding and are able to afford it (I used a John Lewis giftcard on mine), the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine gave me an extra 4 hours sleep last night. Modern technology and medicine (epidural) have helped me survive this week and I've never been so grateful. Also cabbage leaves. Less modern but oh so soothing. In other news, the pub quiz I was supposed to be running on Tuesday made over £800 for motor neurone disease so will hopefully pass events course with flying colours.

Pumpkinma · 01/04/2018 10:21

@dkb15164 That hair!! 😍😍😍 glad you're all home and doing well!

4 days since little one arrived and I think everything just hit me must of been running on pure adrenaline before! 😴

strawberrysparkle · 01/04/2018 11:21

It's April which means the month of more babies!!!

I'm due on the 13th so it feels very close now, very excited! My tens machine arrived yesterday which was the only thing I was waiting for so happy about that!

Hope all you lovely ladies have a good Easter x

Rae2017 · 01/04/2018 11:25

Happy April everyone!
My little one is booked in to come on 11th...so counting down the days. Partner and I beginning to say 'this is the last time we'll do this just the two of us'. Trying to appreciate every little small thing but excitiment, anticipation and anxiety all rolled into 3 making it difficult to relax and unwind

Rae2017 · 01/04/2018 11:26

*all rolled into 1 I meant to say

Bez9087 · 01/04/2018 13:19

@rockabyebaby they are doing amazing Thankyou. I second the prep machine we have one and been making a 5oz bottle up and then splitting it between two bottles so they have just over 2oz each. Life saver in the middle of the night with two babies who want feeding. Still not bathed the girls they are 9 days old today haha! I think my son and daughter had already had theirs by now maybe even two. But I think it’s changed to 10 days now but I still think they are still so tiny and risk of getting cold so quick so I haven’t risked it. My hormones are still all over the show but starting to get better. I keep crying over the thought of isobelle being in special care and that first 24 hours I only got to see her twice as couldn’t get up there. Making up for it with lots of snuggles now. It’s so hard trying to divide the attention evenly even with my older two.
Just sat all snuggling on the sofa at the min. Twinnies asleep in their moses basket whilst me and older two watch a film with chocolate. Dh has gone car hunting seen as he sold my car the other day and we currently have no 7 seater now Confused men!!

Finally getting their identifying which twin is which without relying on isobelles foot name tag too. That has had me pretty much crying for the last week that I haven’t been able to tell them apart. But slowly getting there now. So much so I have braved a matching outfit today well sleepsuit they are still in tiny baby haha.

Can’t wait to see all your ladies announcements that your bubbas are here.

Loosemoose28 · 01/04/2018 13:27

Sat on sofa still in my PJs feeling sick and rubbish. Was up all night (again) with mild contractions and then not getting anywhere. Im fat miserable and pregnant today Blush

@bez9087 current advice is don’t bath until cord is off fully, equally newborns don’t really need baths anyway. Its because we now know that the cord “decomposing” plays a vital role in growing skin flora for newborns.

Bez9087 · 01/04/2018 13:48

Ahh Thankyou @loosemoose. They didn’t say anything about cord or bath etc in hospital it was the mw who mentioned when I said they hadn’t had a bath to wait a few days yet as still tiny. That’s good to know though as both girls cord stumps are still there. With my dd and ds we was told to clean it each day with cooled boiled water etc and haven’t even been told that. To be fair they both look really well Imogen’s better than isobelles. Isobelles slightly red at the base but nothing that looks like its oozing etc. Can’t believe how much things change in the years. So is it just until the cord has come off?
To be fair they don’t need them like you said they both are fine and loving the baby smell from them.

emvy · 01/04/2018 15:43

Happy April everyone! It’s finally here!

All the little ones seem to be doing amazingly - well done mamas! You are all nailing this and setting the way for the rest of us - all your tips are so so helpful.

strawberry, I’m also due the 13th! Due date buddies. Really counting down the days and hoping that each day is the day he might make an arrival but I don’t feel like he’s on the way imminently. I just hope I don’t have to be induced over 41 weeks, my anxiety is already sky high and I’m already beginning to worry about the risk of going over 41 weeks. Hopefully he’ll be ready beforehand.

loosemoose, that sounds incredibly annoying!! I really hope things kick off properly for you asap.

Strongarms27 · 01/04/2018 22:50

Yes rockabyebaby1402, bags are packed. One for me, one for her. I repacked mine once I knew it would be a c-section, mostly just in terms of clothe long for me afterwards. And as I know I might be waiting a whole to go in I've put in several magazines for DP and me.
It's been a whirlwind of activity getting things ready but I'm really excited to think the baby will be actually here in 3 days - if I do get seen on Wednesday, I know I might be pushed back depending on emergencies on the day. Rae2017 DP and I have also had those 'this is the last time we will...' Think we will try to get to the cinema the night before or go out for tea.
Any update loosemoose?

Teeeee · 01/04/2018 23:45

Ok have been super nauseous this evening.. please tell me the morning sickness isnt back!? I had such a horrible time of it for the first 4 months. Anyone else come across this? Is this normal? 😭
